I have multiple audio recordings of Tracfone, Total Wireless, Straight Talk and Simple Mobile representatives lying about promotions they offered but refused to honor!
They do not have the best or least expensive plans or the best phones and have THE WORST customer service reps who hang up on you so you have to start all over with hours and hours of explaining even when you try to explain to the next representative that you need a different department and to be escalated.
They prey on impoverished people. They short service at least one day every month if you sign up with auto refill. I signed up with auto refill and they started pounding me with text begging me to put another service plan on a week before it was due then charged more than I authorized, cut my service off 48 hrs early when I asked for a refund and I lost all my rollover time.
You will not receive consistent service with them no matter how much you pay. Your service will drop for hours at a time at least once a week. I have spent hours and hours and hours with technical support from each of these companies. Their chat links dont work.
They will spam you in text and email too!
I'm writing this to warn people, in hope to save you a lot of aggravation by staying away from these unethical businesses!

I bought a phone from Tracfone and the phone never would work would not register, I contacted customer service and for 5 days i was on the phone trying to activate it, it would never activate. I was told i had a bad sim card they wanted to charge me for a new one and my phone was new. I sent the phone back for a refund and they only refunded me for the phone didn't give me my money for the minutes which i didn't use any. This place is a rip off customer service don't know anything. People go to T Mobile they have great deals and customer service is great.
I purchased a tracfone on tracphone website. When my order arrived I was very pleased and anticipated enjoying this phone in the future... when making calls the phonecall cut off With a NO SIGNAL signal alert just after a few min. In the call... I've spent 7 to 8 hour being transferred from one repetitive to another to have a replacement phone sent to me, no one wanted to help me, crazy people to deal with, this is my first time writing a review & of course the first time a bad review I will take down this review once I will receive a new phone, after talking with tracfone for more then 7 hour & they relized that they are simple wrong they just knock down the phone on me what a shame, no words to explain what bad customer service this is,
Hopefully tracfone will understand that they need to work on customer service to make a customer happy
Always sending messages that must be checked so after checking being charged you find out its from FACEBOOK someone you never met eats up all you're minutes I think they running some scam with Facebook if I could get customer services I complain but I don't have any minutes so they get you coming and going (HOW FAR SHALL I BEND OVER SIR)
Tech support is a joke. If they can't help you they just disconnect. The heavy accent is very hard to understand.
I was with Tracfone for three days before I had enough. Customer service is the absolute worst. Getting my phone activated was a complete nightmare. After three days I just lost service. I spoke to four people though chat because I couldn't make calls. The first guy told me I had to wait for my number to port. My number ported three days prior. When I pointed this out and asked questions he blew me off and kept saying, "Thank you. Is there anything else I can assist you with?" The last person I talked to gave me a number to call. When I tried explaining to her that I don't have service and don't have access to another phone she said, "Well, you will just have to wait until do you do." I don't think so, sister! I immediately went back to my old servicer. I'm willing to pay a bit more to a company that will treat their customers with respect.
I know I won't get my $30 back. Awful company.
For over three months I've been trying to resolve the problem that my phone can not connect to the towers (no data or text available) twelve different times I have called the customer service spending on average 2.5 hours each time and talk to up to five people each time because they escalated the case to a supposedly higher technical people.
At the end of the long wait and repeatedly turn off the phone, check the settings, reset the this and that, look for such network parameters they hang up while waiting for the last step that finally will solve the problem. Then I had to start all over again or they tell me that they will call back and when I answered they hang up. IT IS A SCAM.
You can hear on the background the chickens and dogs barking when I call.
Finally, I end up getting another service provider because I was fed up with the lack of response.
I purchased a year service with 1500 minutes talk and text. With 1.5gb data for $120. Great deal right? WRONG. The ad is meant to deceive you into believing you get talk text and data every month. The service is 12 months, but once you use your 1.5 gigabytes of data whether that's over one day or one year you have to buy more. I called to cancel my service, they told me sorry, this is non-refundable. Don't waste your money, this company is a scam.
I seem to have the same problems as many other users - phone number cancelled even though I purchased a full year plan - when I tried to find out what had to be done to restore service I could never get an answer from the many of the contacts ( over 4 hours of frustrating non answers) I finally got my number restored and had to start with a new service - I lost all of my accumulated minutes ( over 5,000) and the remainder of my contracted time. I have been a customer for 24+ years and their customer support is horrible. You will never be able to talk to anyone that can resolve any problem - they always direct you to a phone that can't answer a question, speak with an accent you can t understand ( on purpose?) and put you on hold a dozen times. It is too bad that tracfone can't get their act cleaned up - the concept of having a fairly inexpensive cell phone to use occasionally for emergencies and while traveling is great for the older generation that doesn't have cell service at their residence. I asked if I should seek council - I was told that their legal would call within the hour - I'm still waiting 5 hours later! I wonder if it's time for a class action?
... for my purposes. I really do not want a cellphone at all. However at certain times I must use one. For these times my LG flip TracFone* service is adequate. I refill minutes as needed and time each call to no longer than ten minutes. For a telephone minimalist, this has fit the bill.
This company appears to be a scam! In 2017 I bought THREE one year plans which would keep me covered until 2020. This end date of 2020 was ALWAYS on my account. There was no problem--until I recently switched to a new Tracfone! Suddenly a NEW end date appeared on my account as 2019. These " customer service reps " INSISTED that the date of 2020 was NEVER on my account. I am now in the process of filing a Better Business Bureau claim against them. Watch out when doing business with these common thieves!
I had a Tracfone cell phone for quite awhile, but they could never keep my voice mail settings in place. I would set up voice mail and make a test call, which verified it was working. Then the next day, someone would call me and hear a recording that said they couldn't leave a message because my voice mail had not been set up yet. This happened over and over, despite my spending an hour and a half on the phone with tech support.
Dissatisfied, I let the account expire, but then I found out that Tracfone was legally required to unlock your phone for use on another network. I called them and they said that if I reactivated the phone, they would be happy to unlock it.
I really liked the phone and wanted to avoid the cost and hassle of getting a new phone, so I paid for 30 days of service to reactivate Tracfone.
When I called to have them unlock the phone, they said that while my phone now qualified to be unlocked, they were incapable of doing that because of some sort of "technical problem." However, if I mailed the phone back to them, they would be happy to credit me $5 toward a new Tracfone.
Seriously? Are all companies this manipulative and dishonest, or is it just Tracfone?
Lessons learned: Buy only unlocked phones. Do not trust a company to ever unlock a phone for you. And most importantly, NEVER TRUST TRACFONE.
Tracfone will not honor their own Promo Code ******* on the 365 service day card they mailed me. Also I could not use chat to find out why because it is not working at 10:40 a m EST! I finally got through on chat today, after 15 minutes I was denied their coupon again. They then gave me one a phone number to call during the week. I know from pasted experience if you phoned them you get a foreign who speaks broken english it is a waste of time>
Never had a problem before but ordered a refurbished phone on line and when it showed up 8 days later, the screen when I turned it on started flashing like a strobe light.It is going on 5 weeks now and am still trying to find out where my replacement phone is, all I seem to get for answers is a big run around on there chat link seeing how I can not call with no phone.
I bought my phone off of HSN. The phone would not Port my old number, then the phone call part did not work, then chat keeps telling me that I need to make a phone call but I can't make a phone call because my old phone number was cancelled with my old phone and the new phone doesn't have a number because it won't port. So this phone is no use to me big pain in the $#*! because I need a new phone to receive calls for the job I was applying 4 I have just moved to new location, TracFone has really pissed me off it made things very difficult at a time when I needed my phone the most so so I had to contact HSN through their chat because I can't call them to tell them what the problem is and ask for a replacement phone what a pain in the $#*! all together this has taken 15 days and no phone at a time when I need my phone the most what the hell is going on with TracFone I've had a phone through TracFone once before and didn't have all this grief
When you buy the $15 card, it says 500 text, but doesn't say that you paided for 500 text & will also be charged for each text. One day I had 95 minutes that morning, sent several text & had one short phone call, checked my time that evening & only had 5 minutes. They charge for checking your voicemail & everything. That is what I was told by Tracfone rep when I contacted them. Was with Virgin Mobile for years & going back when my 750 minutes are up, in a few days the way Tracfone charges. Best advice, if you don't have a ton of money, stay away from Tracfone!
It is a week later my phone still does not work and the credit card company is interceding. Now we are asking for all 3 charges to be refunded.
Someone from Straight Talk ( not Tracfone) called and said it was because I wrote a poor review. The first thing out of this persons mouth was he had to call someone to work on my account because his login privileges were revoked, He said he would call me back in 15 minutes. After two hours I left.
In addition Tracfone asked me to write a review which I did. It was truthful and unflattering. They sent the following response:
'Our staff has read your review and values your contribution even though it did not meet all our website guidelines. Thanks for sharing, and we hope to publish next time!"
I would think they would have written something like. We are sorry for your problems we are going to assign a technician to fix your problems. Well maybe they did but it was three days after I filled out Tracfone's review form
I am going back to Consumer Cellular. They have great customer service. My friend who had suggested Tracfone has to wash and wax my car... twice.
I purchased a sim card on their website. The website was malfunctioning and sending 404 errors.
I refreshed the page four times. Their system charged me for four items for a 125.00 item
I called immediately asking them to cancel the three extra orders which were in processing mode. The customer service person told me she could not cancel the order, but I could refuse delivery. She then said I could return it. In the mean time was charged an extra 100.00 for an error in their site.
Four family members use Tracfone and nobody plans on switching. Six months ago I bought a $20 (Tracfone) Alcatel smart phone that includes triple minutes/data/texts. Its an Android and is similar to a Samsung. I live in a suburb of a Chicago and my cell service has been fantastic. I spend $49/ yr for service, texts are $5 per 1,000 and if I buy a card for minutes its tripled. Very inexpensive for great reception.
They would not let me cancel my auto-refill plan. I was charged twice for the plan I had tried to cancel (the message kept saying that they were updating my phone and as such wouldn't let me make any changes to my account)l. I wasn't even able to update my payment information so that the charges wouldn't come out of my account. I tried to contact customer service many times but was unable to talk to a human. When I finally got through to customer service (this is after days of trying different avenues), I was told that they wouldn't refund the money that had come out of my account. I spoke with the manager and she said it was company policy not to refund the money. Very disappointed with the lack of available customer service and lack of integrity.
Great service, price, and connecting. Have had for many years and good selection of phones. I have used it all over the country even when others would not work.
Answer: Tracfone uses only the most feral and unskilled labor available in the Philippines for their customer service centers. I've encountered hundreds of these creatures and found only two helpful people. The rest just seem to be thinking about bananas all day English skills and intelligence are hard to find at Tracfone's customer care center, but the script reading skills (in broken English) are among the best in Asia.
Answer: Tracfone hires only the most feral and ignorant Filipinos to work their customer care center. I've been on the phone for dozens and dozens of hours with these mindless drones and have only found one or two people (out of hundreds) that were actually helpful. The ability to speak English clearly or have a glimmer of intelligence are NOT prerequisites for employment at Tracfone.
Answer: Yes, go to tracfone.com (or their app) and look for Add-ons under Buy Air Time. It is currently $5 for 1,000 texts. Great price! I just ordered one year of service for $49 and the1,000 texts for $5. Cant beat it.
