Horrible, horrible, horrible customer service. Plus they include internet time spent on WiFi against the mobile data allotment. Using Android internals AND a network monitoring app, I was able to verify I only used 1.5 Gb of mobile/cell data in Feb, with another 13.8 Gb done on WiFi. Tracfone charged all 15.3 Gb as mobile data overcharging me by $80. When I talk to customer service & tech support, they are utterly clueless (on purpose?) and switch me to a "supervisor" who then spends the first ten minutes repeating all the proof of identity questions the previous three agents asked me, and then tell me "there is nothing they know to do" about any potential problems in how they are calculating data usage. 5 years ago they were bought by Verizon. I will be leaving Tracfone and NOT going to Verizon. Way to go idiot moron executives drinking cocktails at the 19th green of the clubhouse and thinking up new ways to cheat the customer.

I have been a tracfone customer for over 15 years and the situation I am currently going through with tracfone has completely turned me off. On Dec 19th I contacted tracfone to transfer my old phone to a newly purchased tracfone but it took hours to connect and I still had problems. I was told to send in the new phone and they would replace it. Once they received the phone they would send out a replacement w/in 3-5 days. Here it is the end of Feb 2022 and still no phone. I have called every week to no avail. I paid $132.00 for the new phone, the returned phone was refurbished and resold to someone else and i have nothing to show for it after making at least a dozen phone calls to various departments to remedy this situation. They are in denial and still no phone. I HOPE NO ONE ELSE HAS TO GO THROUGH THIS. Cathy G.

DO NOT BUY
February 26, 2022

Tracfone is the worst. They would not transfer my plan to a new phone. First it was activated by straight talk, who owns tracfone. After they realized I was a tracfone customer, they said they would transfer my phone back to tracfone, but then claimed I did not have the correct answers to the security questions. If this was true, how did I activate the phone? They had no answers for me. I filed a complaint with the attorney generals office in Florida. I will also file with small claims if tracfone gives no resolution to the problem. I am now twelve phone calls in to Tracfone! DO NOT BUY THERE SERVICE or PHONES, look for other alternatives!

I have been a long time customer (>19 years) of TracFone. No more. After trying to utilize the EBB benefit that TracFone itself was promoting during Covid-19 they managed to make a reliable phone service unusable once a month. No one seems to understand how to diagnose their back-end configuration problems other than a handful of people that are nearly impossible to find. There phone system will often disconnect you when you are forwarded to another queue. There call-back system will also disconnect leaving you to start all over. I've spent an average of 3 hours per month on the phone since last fall trying to get the phone to work again. After 9 hours between two days (2/23-2/24 2022) trying to get data working again we are done. I would not recommend TracFone any longer and hope others look to other MVNO's like MintMobile. They also continue to tell me that my unlocked Samsung A71 5G is not supported even though the model is included on AT&T's whitelist. You get what you pay for but lately I'm not even getting that. Other MVNO's deserve my money more than TracFone.

I have been a Tracfone customer for several years. Although I had some issues, I stuck with them because it was the easy thing to do. Now I'm changing to Consumer Cellular. Here's why: some time ago, I had purchased 3GB of data as part of a plan Everything else went through, but the data did not. A tech support person figured the problem out. No harm, no foul. Flash forward to today. I purchased a plan with 8 GB of data last week. I don't stream or play music, so this should have lasted me for a while. At most, I generally use 2 or 3 GB a month. Today all the data was gone! The customer service representative said I must have used it all, but there is no way that happened. It was a $40 plan I had purchased especially for the data, so I was out a wad of money. I don't trust their data services to be reliable. Also, they don't track daily data use, so there was no way to prove my point. Consumer Cellular it is. Their plans look better anyway.

I purchased a card for 1999 it stayed 60 minutes for talk text and web 90-day plan I gave them the pin on the back of the card they activated this phone from that pin and then proceeded to tell me I only have 30 days only a 30-day plan. This card was 1999 I gave them the pin on the back of this card which correlates with this card this card States 60 minutes for talk text and web 90-day plan it's a 4G light and 5G compatible. It is a card that I got from Walmart for this phone. They will only give me 30 days for the 60 minutes. The phone or the card says 60 minutes for talk text and web 90-day plan they are committing fraud if you use this company you will lose 2 months worth of service that you have paid for. I am warning everybody do not I repeat do not use this company don't use family mobile which is from Walmart which is TracFone they are both the same stay away from them they will take your money. You cannot talk to supervisor. Becausebecause supervisor will hang up on you. The first phone call I was on just trying to activate this phone 42 minutes the supervisor hung up no call back. I called back I was then on the phone with another guy for 16 minutes. This situation was never resolved they are still telling me in March I owe more money even though my card says 60 minutes for talk text and web 90-day plan. They will not honor those cards that they sell. Remember TracFone family mobile from Walmart they're both the same stay away from them. They are scamming everyone

I've been on the phone since 8:00 am trying to set up my dad's new phone. I've been thru the whole try this and try that routine 5-7 times by now. Everytime they say they'll send me to someone higher the call drops before a person can answer. After that I've left my phone number for them to call me back. They did. Call dropped on the 2nd ring. My cell has almost all bars so not my carriers problem. It is now almost 6 hours trying to get my dad's phone to work because it won't connect to the network. I'm waiting on a phone call back from them.

I'm 2017 when I purchased my phone for my school's after school program, they did not register my email correctly. As a result when my school's phone was stolen last week, I could not transfer the phone number. Thankfully the phone was returned but today I tried to update my email address. I was told I cannot do that through chat. So I called customer service. I was hung up on 8 times. Then told that I was all set and when I went to log in it says my email isn't associated with any known account. I called back and was put on hold and told I was all set. Before I could say anything they hung up on me again.
2 hours was wasted and my email is still not updated. I am HORRIBLY disappointed with this service.

If you don't need customer service it's great. But think real hard before wasting hours of your time

I have two Tracfones. Pros: I pay only $20 every three months for each, buying the cheapest card. I use wi-fi almost entirely for data, so don't need to pay for any above the minimum. After several years, with rollover, I have accumulated over three solid days of talk time on each phone. If I could stay awake, I could talk around the clock many times. The phones I bought from them are refurbished, very cheap, and work well. Cons: Their website is very basic, filled with urgings to buy plans and phones, and has gotten worse lately. I have a hard time navigating it. Their customer service is adequate when buying things and a bit less so when needing help. Bonus codes seem to be disappearing. Overall: Cheap, usable, probably not for heavy-duty phone users. (I have Mint Mobile for more major/vital use.) Still, four stars.

This is supposed to be an easy phone but they put too much smart phone crap on it and made it so complicated it is nearly impossible to use. If I wanted a smart phone I would use one, I want a phone that works. This came with a voice that took and hour to figure out how to shut it up. It doesn't get a signal where I live like my old 3G did (same ATT tower). I cannot save contacts to SIM so the first time I wash this or drop it in the creek I lose everyone, it has very difficult and complicated voicemail. Everything is nearly impossible to find that I need, and I don't need much. What I need is a PHONE, not a computer! And I cannot hear it and have yet to figure out how to turn on the speaker!
So now I have no phone to use and I wasted hours and hours of time and trouble, and money. And a 24 hour (so far) migraine from trying to make it work, which it just doesn't.
And calling for help is not viable since it doesn't get a signal where I live.
I cannot even leave the worthless thing turned on as it drained the battery 50% in 4 hours of none use since it seems to waste energy NOT connecting.

Tracfone is a scam
January 20, 2022

Trac phone omits vital information. They say unlimited text but if you send or receive anything by text message like a picture or vcs file it is no longer a text and is considered data alo you can not send or receive a text containing anything other than ABC or 123 via internet connection and have to use mobile data also after only having the problems from the first minute of service and then telling them that I want to leave they tell me I have to pay a fee to get them to unlock my phone that I just took to them. They are scam artists No other phone carrier data within a text as counting against your data especially if you do it via internet and then charge a fee to a brand new account also the internet speed is incredibly slow and knocks you off anything. My wife is the one that switched us and she paid a year in advance and they say she will not get any of that money refunded. TALK ABOUT A SCAM!

I bought a Tracfone. First day tried to keep my old number phone paid off bill paid. Called back next day literally online with 100s of disconnected calls. No respect didn't call back. Their robo guy messenger changed my phone number was on from 11:30 am to 10 pm. Then called again after fighting to get the first number, until I had my old phone number. Then called 2 days later from a friend's made me have 2 phones go use neighbors with high covid numbers. Called 6:12 pm then told me I had my old number wanted me to pay again. Football trying to not lose my sh**. Then said I'll put you to finance. I'm reporting them to FCC AND BBB ECT. NO NEED. CALLED ME BACK ONCE IN 45 MIN. HAD OTHER PHONE NO. FRIENDS, THEN HAD ME ON HOLD 1 HR 13 MIN AND DIS. HAD ME ON HOLD, THEN KNEW THEY WERE CLOSING SAID HE'D PUT ME THROUGH DISCONNECTED, NEVER CALLED ME BACK. I Wasn't HOLDING THE HOUSE PHONE CLICK TWICE SO OVER 18 HRS OR JUST ABOUT TO ACTIVATE SWITCH NUMBERS AND ONE SCREW UP AFTER ANOTHER. TAKING MY PHONE BACK AND HECK WITH THEIR JUNK SERVICE I'LL TAKE A LOSS, UNTIL I GET A LAWYER TO GET EVERYONE'S PHONE RECORDS WITNESSES ETC. FOR I TOLD THEM I WAS ON SPEAKER AND RECORDED THEM AS WELL. BEGGING TO WAIT TILL THE ITHER PICKED UP. THEY ARE A ZERO REALLY OR -10 REALLY

I do not recommend tracfone to anyone.
The service goes in and out and is sometimes out for days not connecting to any tower.
When I finally got a new sim card, I asked tracfone to unlock my phone, since I couldn't use their service at all. They refused to unlock the phone and said I had to pay an unlocking charge of 135$ plus taxes, which is way more than the phone cost. The people at corporate also claimed they could not do anything about it and we're not helpful. So now I have no service and also no way of getting my new sim card activated, since they refuse to give up the phone.

Worst of the worst
January 12, 2022

I will never use or recommend again.
After many attempts with customers service to help or fix issue with my phone and the continue need to repeat the same thing with everyone they transfer me to with same incompetence unprofessional attitude and conduct as normal. And that this time cost me to lose a 5 figure contract. This service is ran by people who are not bright to light a LED bulb

Great customer service
January 12, 2022

As the title says. You can get in touch with an actual person quickly. Every time I've needed customer service they've solved my problem quick.

Good service provider for cheap phones and plans. The cheapest option is to buy the $125 for a year of airtime and use auto-refill and just buy data addons as you need them. I did the math and for me even with the addons I was paying the equivalent $20-25 a month that way. DO NOT byop though; they discontinue service for your phone after a while (for me it was about year) as a business strategy to make you buy one of their phones.

When you are told you are eligible for a refund they transfer you to a 'refund department.' The refund assistant then pretends to 'get further information' keeping you on hold for 25 min. While evidently their 1990s era computer picks out your information. At around 25-35 min. They then disconnect you.

You can't reach them by phone. Brought up chat online there was no "send" button. Bought a 365 day +400 minutes card that won't add to the phone's minutes no matter which option we select, and then you can't reach them to rectify it to save your life.

I bought my brother a new phone through tracfone and he was always having issues with it. Recently he passed away so I took his phone as my own. As I tried to get the service changed on the phone that I paid full price for, they want to charge me 150$ to switch providers... if that isn't a scam idk what is.

I bought a Tracfone plan and have tried about 10 times to add international calling... but it seems impossible. As well everytime you click onto one of their links it says that website does not exist. They must have 12 year olds designing their site (not to dis 12 year olds)
