The company has garnered a mixed reputation among customers, with notable strengths in its engaging auction format and a diverse range of products that some users find enjoyable and affordable. Many appreciate the responsive customer service, which has been effective in addressing issues and facilitating refunds. However, significant concerns persist regarding product quality, with numerous complaints about receiving damaged or inferior items. Additionally, customers have reported frustrations with order cancellations and difficulties in the returns process. Overall, while the platform offers a fun shopping experience, it must improve product reliability and support to enhance customer satisfaction.

Good experience only had a few issues with buyers. They still haven't gotten me an answer on the problems yet.
I love this site and find myself addicted to checking in to see if any good deals are going on! My only caution is be careful on your bids to make sure you read the fine print, esp. On electronics! I've made several purchases and short of one refurbished notebook, everything has been great, but Tophatter was easy to work with on the return!
I have ordered several items (rings, earrings, scarves, bracelets, electronics accessories, purses, knickknacks etc.) and LOVE every single item. Some were gifts, and the receivers loved them also. All of the items seem to be great quality and look as good or even better than the photos shown. I have never had any problems with the sellers, except a couple that were quickly resolved and refunded. It's also pretty fun to bid - especially when you win! :)
Bidding on this site is fun and addictive, you get real great stuff for low prices. You will find jewelry, brand name cosmetics and electronics.
I've purchased a lot of items from here. Most are in perfect condition and arrive on time. On the rare occasion something went wrong, they corrected the situation and gave a $5 credit towards my next purchase. I've mostly purchased jewelry, and friends and family all compliment me on the things I've gotten. Even strangers comment on a couple of the necklaces and rings.
So far my experience has been so so. Because I purchased 3 orders that has not been delivered and unfortunately so far no one can provide tracking information on my packages. This has been since before christmas. These packages are being sent internationally. There should be some kind of system where tophatter can have more control over things that are being ship outside of the country.
I have found so many great pieces of jewelry for myself as well as family and friends. A few of the owners are demanding 5-star, but go with your gut! The few times I have returned, there was little flack. Overall, a great experience!
Most item I bid are very good but have had many items never show up and it takes forever to get it refunded back
Tophatter is a fun way to be a consumer of goods no one needs. Bidding is intense only for really expensive brand name items like Chanel and Coach, etc. jewelry is often cheap and is shipped from out of the US so takes a long time to get it. But, that said try it and have fun
What a fun site. Such varieties of nice things. I wake up at night and it helps me fall back to sleep. I have been satisfied with all of my purchases.
It was against my better judgement to even order from this site but I thought it's only $14 so go ahead. I ordered a lamp and it has been in transit since 12/13/06. Luckily I ordered through Paypal and they are investigating. I wanted it for Christmas 2016 but looks like it will have to be for Christmas of 2017.
Last night I was a on Tophatter for the first time. They give you a $5. Off your first buy soooooooooo I gave it a try. Well ups comes a little bar of pure find silver. The size is 1 gram with a value of $75.00. First thing a gram of pure fine silver is worth. 56 as in 56 pennies look it up yourself. So for $#*!s and giggles I bought it and with my $5.00 off my cost was down to $4. Next up the vendor offered me more bars for $8. But at a real value I did not bite. The next day I got a e-mail from Tophatter tell me I will not get my order the vendor "jewlmen" is now sold out of my bar. Wow yesterday "jewlman" was willing to sale me more bars@ $8.00 and now he is out. Is Tophatter out selling stock they don't have? I think the small order was not worth "jewlmans" time so he canceled the order. Wow this is a fair and honest bidding site right? B. S. Now Tophatter is telling me to please allow 7 days to get my $4 back. Who has my Visa card info the Russians now? All I see Tophatters as a big con game. 1/23/2017
Hi Bill, I'm sorry to hear your seller failed to honor your sale. Sellers refunding without a buyers prior consent is 100% against Tophatter guidelines. When transactions like this occur our system catches it automatically and the seller is penalized. I do see that $10 store credit was applied to your account because of this, as a courtesy. You can view your credits by following the steps listed in our FAQ: http://tinyurl.com/zztso4u
I ordered several items, received everything fine. Started checking things online and found l could buy things cheaper at store or online. Their SRP Are extremely inflated.
Tophatter has very strict policies in place to make sure sellers are representing items correctly. If you have a question about a specific price you see please write our support directly so we can investigate. They can be reached at tophatter.com/support. Thank you!
First off, I'd like to say that I have had nothing but positive results when dealing with customer service. I have not been ignored, not once. I don't understand all this negative rating of not being able to reach anyone at Tophatter. That said, there are some very very bad things that 'BUYERS" should "BEWARE". My biggest complaint is the size of the items. When you bid on designer perfume or cologne, you end up paying for a tiny sample bottle. Buyer read the amount you are receiving before bidding! Can't stress that enough. The pictures of the jewelry are huge, however, the jewelery is very small in comparison. Especially chains... not so much rings. My next complaint is if you give a 4 star or lower review on a product, no one ever sees it. They only allow buyers to see 5 star reviews, that is, if you can find the reviews. They are way down the bottom of the home site, you have to find "Tophatter Reviews" and click it on. Listen buyers/bidders, please be aware of the exact size and/or amount before bidding. You know those 3D night lights? I got one. It is a piece of acrylic not more than 6" high and it is flat. When you put it in the base, yes, it does light up, but does not look 3D. The picture of the item on the website is completely deceiving, and they have gotten some pretty high bids for these 3D lights.
The bracelet is very nice. I only think that the price shown of over $1500. Is not accurate, since I own two Pandora bracelets filled with beads and I know I did not pay over $1500. For them both.
I ordered Earings from tophatter and I didn't receive yet. They said it was delivered. I do not see anything in my mailbox.

Answer: There is also the FEDERAL TRADE COMMISSION that can help with these types of problems
Answer: You have to read the descriptions. It will tell you if it's real or plated.
Answer: Do not deal with this company,,, all jewelery is crap n cheap
Answer: Tophatter will screw you over. Shop Amazon or overstock.
Answer: Good luck! Tophatter rippes off the sellers so they are not going to be very likely to return your money.
Answer: Justin you are absolutely correct. I find out the hard way. I had my own auction with nice AUTHENTIC designer items and cosmetics (Becca, Cargo, Smahbox, Too Faced, etc). I lost big time. $40 Cargo palette sold for $10; it cost me $15. Items that I started higher to cover my cost never sold. I still had to pay fees for the item being listed. A $200 Calvin Klein purse sold for $20; it cost me $80 wholesale. Run!
Answer: If you end up buying a few items from the same seller they can do a combined shipment but you rarely get the same buyer items since they only let the sellers sell 10 items a day. It is different for the sellers that have their own auctions.
Answer: You will notice the same names no matter the day, time etc. Bidding against you very often. Is it a coincidence? Personally I don't believe in coincidences.
Answer: Depends on what you are selling. Yes, a lot of items go unsold in the jewelry and accessories categories... as well as others. Coach and Michael Kors and other designer brands, not much goes unsold, because here's the catch - - you pay fees on the starting bid. TH wants everything to start at $1. So you get punished if you start higher as to not get screwed by a low purchase price. Say you buy a designer bag for $120. If you start that bag at $100, you're already paying over $10 in fees. **IF** you can manage to sell it for a profit, there are still the commission and bank fees. If you start it at $1, you're barely paying any listing fees but it might only sell for $80 (or less!). So, less fees, but you lost your ass on the item. It's messed up. Most sellers have put in their time to see if they can make a profit or to see if TH will change, but they all seem to end up leaving. I'm convinced the only ones who stay to sell there are the counterfeit or crappy quality sellers who are buying items for next to nothing, because that seems to be the only way to make a profit there these days. I would go the ebay route if you're looking to sell.
Answer: Yes! Sale of counterfeit items is prohibited. If you are concerned about the authenticity of an item purchased on the platform, you may return it for up to 30 days from delivery. See full details on our return policy here: http://tinyurl.com/h7xokwj.
