I was wrongly charged for a membership so I wrote into support to ask for a refund. Their support won't even acknowledge that I was charged in the first place. They just keep saying "we're sorry to see you go" and that I won't be charged again.

Do not take them up on any "free+shipping" offers they have. They flat out billed me for a membership and would have processed another one had my card not expired. I'm a savvy online shopper and remember clearly not agreeing to their membership.

First they'll reply with a canned response, and then if you push it further a real person will respond, but just in a way that just ignores the refund request.

Then if you keep pushing they'll state "we don't process refunds from any membership that was charged six months ago."

This place is shady.

I was surprised to have been charged a membership fee and when I read all the reviews I was afraid I was in for a battle to have it credited and cancelled. I sent them an email that I wished to cancel, got a response within two days and my card was credited within the time frame they indicated. While I was not happy with being signed up for a club membership in a manner that did not seem transparent, I was very satisfied with the response and felt they were due my mentioning this.

I have been purchasing products from Thrive Market for a few months now. I have had no problems at all and love the products. The customer service as well has been top notch. My products come in a very timely manner packed in a very sturdy box. I intend to continue doing business them.

I ordered from this company a month or two ago with no issues. I woke up this morning and looked at my bank statement and saw a membership fee taken out, I was livid. I called and emailed with no response. I check my bank statement to look for another number. The number they provided is a scam. The real number is *******840. I spoke with a representative and they are refunding me my money back in 2 to 5 business days. P.S. You may be on line for 10 minutes do not hang up.

This morning I woke up to an email stating that $59.59 was taken out of my account though pay pal from Thrive market. I NEVER NEVER NEVER signed up for a 30 day trail membership nor was I given notification that money was going to be removed from my account because of it. I tried to call today but they are closed. I see I am not the only one with this problem so I am taking it to he BBB. This is absolutely crazy. They are trying to rip people off! I don't see how this is legal if I never was informed during my transaction that I would be under a 30 day trail. I would have cancelled the day after or went with Amazon.

I just checked my credit card statement and was charged a yearly membership fee even though I never signed up for it. I shopped with them once and I guess they automatically enrolled me. Very disturbed that they would do this. That's why we need to check our statements. Sneaky move. Yuk.

Rip off artists

Made an unauthorized charge for membership and in trying to clear it they keep you on hold forever. Do not buy anything from this outfit. Do not give them any information.

1. Order arrived with box stained with oil all around box. Oily box was sat on my front door mat and left oil marks. I have photos of the box, unopened that show the stains. I did not order anything with oil. Only 3 bars of soap so the stains must be leak from another package next to mine? Not sure if this happened during delivery or packaging from origin.

2. Order was missing. When it didnt arrive after order was sent, i forgot about it as i kept thinking it is postal delay. After 3 weeks, i inquired and they had already marked "delivered". Where is my order?! It finally arrive almost a month later after several calls for them to reship.

3. It is also on the site you will receive $25 for referring a friend or family member. I referred someone, that person made a purchase and nowhere is the credit. I called they say it will automatically show up in the account when you check out. Recheck - no credit. Called again they explained they are sorry was not clear on their website your friend has to become a full fletch member ie become a member of the club and pay the membership fee, not just a paid customer, for you to enjoy the $25 credit. So it sounded their promotion is very misleading and intentionally led customers to think they will get a referral fee. Now your friend gave them all the email credit card info and MADE a purchase and become their customer, they then made it BLATANT "oh sorry the website is not clear". Most internet companies including groupon etc would give you a referral fee if your friend made purchase. This is unusual and taking advantage of what is the market practice by manipulating the marketing language.

I was ripped off too
April 26, 2017

The same thing happened to me. I placed 2 orders in March and Oct of 2016. I was never imformed about or charged for a membership fee. Then all of the sudden on my bank statement April 23,2017, I see a charge for a (new) 2017-2018 membership for $64.00! I called the company and advised that they had no authority to take money from my bank account. I told them that I was aware, from the $#*!ty reviews that they prey on people and sneak money from credit cards when its unexpected. They apologized and said that they "updated the website" so that people read the clause about the membership fee before ordering. Hhhhmmm so he admitted it was hidden? Needless to say, they replaced my money within 2 days, back into my account. I also have an email stating that they cancelled "my membership". If it happens again next year, as noted in the review above, I will file a case with court.

Here's their email address: *******@thrivemarket.com
Here's their phone number: *******174
And here's the message I sent them today:
"I cancelled over a year ago and today I see a $59 charge on my debit card. I need that reversed immediately and assured you have actually CANCELLED my participation in this. I never joined. I don't know what this is about. Call me asap and let me know you've put $59 back in my bank account!"

They charged and then credited me $59 a year ago after I tried one of their products. I didn't agree to any membership. After I disputed the $59 a year ago I never heard from them again. Until today when another $59 charge appeared on my debit card! I am furious. WHY DO THEY STILL HAVE MY CARD # AFTER REFUNDING ME A YEAR AGO AND TELLING ME THEY CANCELLED MY SO-CALLED ACCOUNT?! Ugh!

A SCAM!
April 22, 2017

They hide the fact that they will start billing you $59.95 a / year in 30 days of your first purchase. Yes it is there if you search! Then they just bill your credit card with not notice and no asking you if you want membership. I called today and they tried to offer me coupons to make it worth my staying. I told them NO WAY! I had NEVER agreed to become a member after 30 days nor had I been given any offer to do so... a real ugly way of stealing from those who purchase from them and are not carefully monitoring their credit cards. They send me a notice immediately saying my card would be credited (they just billed me a few days ago) and my account closed as requested. From what I have read here about them NOT following up, I WILL follow up and make sure they keep their promise. So sad, they had some good products and reasonable prices. BAD WAY TO DO BUSINESS!

After canceling, this place did not cancel my membership and charged me for two years! I called my credit card company to dispute the charges of $120 and we'll see what happens. They don't offer enough goods to charge this kind of membership fee. I can pay less at Costco and get better prices and WAY more items available.

I've never heard of a membership company that refuses to remove your credit card from your own account. Amazon allows it. Groupon does it, too. Except for them. Yeah, so they get to charge you fees when you forget to cancel. And when you ask them to remove your card number they give you the runaround!

I had to call my card issuer to permanently BAN this company from ever charging me again. I suggest you do the same.

SCAM membership fees!
April 10, 2017

They don't make it clear that there is a $59.95 membership fee and then they charge your account. It is nearly impossible to call them and get them to cancel. They give you the run around trying to explain BS reasons for charging your account. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY

Cancelling your "free" membership is almost impossible. They charge you with fees that they never let you know about. We ordered two things once - a year a go - and just got charged $60 with no warning, no notification, and no way to complain it. This company is complete nonsense and has horrible costumer service.

DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCE

Sneaky Annual Fee
April 9, 2017

I accepted their offer of a free sample of honey for a shipping charge of $3.95 but was also charged $59.95 annual fee which apparently is automatic when you accept their "FREE" offer. I am in the process of trying to reverse those charges, and to make sure they don't crop up again sometime in the future. From many other customer complaints they don't answer their phones in order to resolve the matter.

They do not allow you to remove your payment method online nor cancel your membership online. You must call in. The problem is they do not answer their phone lines apparently. I need a refund for their membership fee and I need them to remove my payment method and account.

I signed up, and bought some things that had good price and the first invoice was on $40. As they stated, it was possible to cancel trial period any time and I will not be charged with membership fee. I have sent request for cancellation twice, and was assured that they will not charge me for any membership fee. I thought this thing is done, so to be honest I did not pay attention on emails I have received by TM again. In a meantime, system sent me a new email, telling me that since I sumbitted request for cancellation and reason of this was costy membership they have decided to extend my trial period for new month and with expiration of this trial, charged me with $29.95 for 6 months subscription. I have also hit $20 insufficient funds in my bank and I could not pay my bill that day, which has resulted in another $35 charge frrom my bank. Obvioulsy TM is SCAM, earning money on charging custumers with something they do not have any authorization. Never doing any business with them. Basically, my $40 worrth products I have ordered with TM cost me $95.

Pardon my English- I have disability - I need to retain an attorney for $57.50 - customer fraud. Did not honor their agreement. Stealing, no cancel button, can not get a hold of them, basically sent package and force customer pay for it when customer want to cancel; or switch items that they didnt say they would give as sign up gift. I signed up because they said they would gift 1 lbs Raw Honey jar; instead they switched it to Ghee; that is not why I signed up with Thrive, so I attempted email them many times, try call them, they are hard to get a hold of to cancel my order - so I called my bank Discover they discover said the charges was valid?! What? NO I did not authorize to buy those stuff to receive GHEE, I did not agree to get GHEE - I agreed to sign up to get RAW HONEY; basically this whole situation is wrong with Thrive Market - need to hold them liable. I stressed out transfer what I owe to discover over to capital one and paid the charge I did not agree, I want to get $57.50 back plus the stress/ waste time that they had caused for me, fraud scammed me. Will need you to do investigating the customer fraud with that business I know I am not the only one had issues with them. I want sue them for what they did and made it difficult for anyone to contact them via email/ phone. It's unfair; and I had emailed them told them right away after review my receipt I was stunned said no that not what I agreed, and cancel that at that same minute; cancel everything and get me out of there - I do not like Thrive not honoring their agreement; and wait until it was "too late" to cancel, have no cancel buttons. I should not have to be paying for it as authorization.
Thanks:)
I am leaving Discover Credit Card company because they are on other side as support business doing wrong doings. Discover also just lost me as a loyal customer.
