I made the mistake of selling some very beautiful, barely used handbags to TRR. I take very good care of my bags and when I looked at the listing and it was labeled as "okay condition" should have been my first red flag. I sent about 6 really nice bags. All different dollar amount. 1 was around $3,000 and the other one they sold cost me about $1,700. They both sold for the exact same amount. Another red flag! I immediately contacted my Rep and told her to return the rest of my bags to me. A TRUE SCAM! Giving them any stars would suggest they did something remotely good. THEY DID NOT! But I can't post this review without giving them a star. There should be a negative star option. TRR should be ashamed of what they are doing.
I met in person with one of their team members. I was told I would have approval on pricing, and if I didn't like what the items were, she could request a change, or I could receive them back, no charge. The items went up, with two of them listed as women's clothing, a loro piano coat, and a Gucci sweater. The other items were priced decently. However within 2 days, they had reduced prices to half, in a few cases, and made each item for clothing available for a coupon of an additional 20 percent off. I'd already sold 3 pieces as soon as they went live, and rather than give the remaining pieces time to sell, they just slashed them to absolutely stupid prices. I had them all sent back - and was told there was a 15 dollar fee, per item. That directly contradicted the local consignor. Use Vestiere or even eBay. You're better off donating your couture items and taking a write off than selling for 20 percent of resale, minus an additional 30 percent to TRR.
I sent five designer items to the Real Real. One was sold for $92 and I received $8.40. My commission was $18.40 but I was charged a $10 fee. I requested the other items to be returned 3 times. I was told that they are ready to ship but it will take about one month to get them to me.
I reconsigned several items, after never having used them. I was shocked to see how little they offered these for and I was paid $34. They lowered the price of a pair of new Bottega shoes test I had purchased from them by $500. I had reconsigned an Hermes bag and after months of emails and calls, I finally got paid. Absolutely disgusting. They should be shut down.
Untrustworthy! Stealing their customer's merchandise! Super unprofessional! Be aware…I worked with them for years and then they turn around and steal my own LV stuff!
They told me to send pictures of the items I wanted to sell. My stuff was new and beautiful which they offer a okay deal and I accepted. It's been more than two months my stuff is selling way cheaper 1 item was sold and returned 2 weeks later. As for now I'm still waiting to get paid. Please do not sell your stuff like I did
I purchased a pair of Golden Goose shoes that were stated as very good condition with only wear to soles. Upon receipt both suede toe beds were scuffed. I asked for a 15% credit and they refused. I wanted the shoes but requested the price to reflect true condition. Returning today.
After visiting TRR site and reading up on the consignment process I immediately started receiving calls and texts about shipping my items out to them which I was really hesitant about but finally relented. It took a while for my items to be posted but a $3,000 Marco Bicego ring I sent was never posted and they were adamant I had to file a claim with my shipper which I had no involvement in. TRR arranged the shipping and even sent someone to my work to pick it up yet they did absolutely nothing when the ring turned up missing. Then they started discounting my items almost immediately, and I was paid $12.88 for a MCM phone case they listed for $135.00 and I got $466.00 for my $2200.00 Chloe handbag. The customer service was horrible, very dismissive and solved nothing. The discounts were reaching 40% and I had enough. I told them I wanted my unsold items returned to me but they implied I would owe them money to return things I own. Four people have contacted me since, nobody seems to know what they are doing yet they treated me like an insufferable idiot.
The Real Real took my items. My wife died and I thought it would be good to sell her purses. Many of them we bought overseas on vacations and spent a lot of money. They said they were unable to authenticate so because i complained they sent back the least expensive items keeping the expensive stuff for themselves. Telling me i need a receipt to get them back. They are mine not theirs. Scam Artist! Stay far away from them. They are evil...
I have made a few purchases over the course of the last years on the real real and in general they have been decent. 2022 was a very busy year for me and I needed to upgrade my wardrobe for specific events I had that year. In March of 2022 I made purchases from numerous vendors and the real real was one of them. Now, mind you, I am someone that has their credit card bills on autopay. I remember that I checked on the item once and it had not shipped yet (shipping label created, awaiting carrier pickup) and it ended up not shipping in time for the event that I purchased the (almost 900 Dollar) item for. After the event, more followed and I forgot about the order. Today, I went online to check on prices that I had paid since I want to sell a few items from my closet. I went through past orders and noticed that this particular item never shipped. Their webpage shows that the shipping label was created but it is awaiting carrier pickup. Ok, I said, that probably means it wasn't charged either, but I was wrong. I checked my credit card and sure enough, I was charged $ 898.71 on the day, the shipping label was created.
Next I go on to the customer service chat to resolve this issue and receive either the item or the refund and am met with "sorry, we cannot help you"; you can contact UPS with your tracking number. Of course UPS does not have record of this tracking number. The customer service agent just continued to send me to UPS and re-iterated that they cannot help.
Yes, it is my fault for completely forgetting about the order but charging without shipping and then giving the client the run around? I would be out of business if I did that with my clients. Unfortunately this experience will cause me to NEVER buy from the Real Real again and I will explore other ways to get my money back. This is not right. I am so incredibly disappointed in how this was handled.
I had never worked with The Real Real so decided to try it. I had NWT dress that I sent in that originally listed for $225. After a couple months of it not selling and the price being lowered, I asked what I had to do to get the item back. Instead of returning it, the price was lowered again and now being offered at a 70% discount (I didn't realize). When I asked again for it back, I was told it sold and my commission would be $13. I issued numerous complaints including stating my commission should be higher since I was not aware of the steep discount and I received only canned responses about their policies. I am very disappointed with The Real Real and will never do business with them again.
I bought an MCM backpack from the Real Real and the defects were not clear on the picture. The hardware was turning colors. Since I spent $400 + on the bag and the rest of the bag was nice,I decided to send the bag to New York to have the hardware updated. That cost me another $250. I could have bought a newer bag for the total price I spent on a used bag.
I have sent the real real many items before. Multiple times they have sent them back to me absolutely DESTROYED. I sent a $1000 top that was returned literally shredded. They price items very low and the customer service is god awful. I will be sticking to my local consignors. Don't waste your energy here.
I consigned 33 items and they returned a dozen with a pair of missing earrings. They would not accept responsibility for the lost item but instead offered to assist me to file a claim with UPS. They claimed they have internal footage showing the earrings were packed but refused to share the video.
TRR is a major scam!
I purchased a Louis Vuitton navy crossbody bag…after a few months it literally fell about! The hinges broke and it was no longer usable. I tried putting it back together and I also tried taking it somewhere to be repaired…no luck. A $1500 bag now was not usable. I contacted them and they said that they do not offer any type of warranty after the purchase. It was basically buyer beware! They offered me a $25 credit on their site! Seriously? I I explained that first of all $25 was nothing compared to what I had spent and also, why would I ever purchase something from them again! Go to FASHIONPHILE they have a bigger selection and better prices including follow-up! Never again would I buy something from the real real!
The site is a rip off site that sells dry-rotted items and used items that are priced higher than when brand new. The customer service sucks when you call to try to resolve issue... For example, I purchased used Balenciaga boots for $615 and when the arrived, in original box, the price tag on them was only $469. I immediately call TRR customer service number (which is NOT provided on the website - I had to research it), to ask for the item to be priced as indicated on the box - the least they could do... However, I was informed that "we do not price match... and you may return for a full refund but you have to pay for shipping (which is overpriced as well)"... WTF! - IT'S YOUR PRICING - IT WAS SHIPPED FROM YOUR WAREHOUSE... What a rip off - I'm closing my account and sticking with Saksoff5th, Nordstromrack, Lastcall, etc... TRR can kicks rocks in open-toed shoes.
Bought a purse of Real Real supposedly expert inspected, said Excellent condition, if a tear in the leather at the back which has been self repaired with Gorilla glue is excellent. Good must be an empty Walmart Bag.
Total Rip Off.
I sent four designer eyeglass cases for review to sell in October. I included photos of the items and a packing slip. They lost them and Im getting the run around. There trying to tell me I didnt send them when I know I did! Think twice before you send small items that can be lost or stolen by employees.
I own a louis vuitton mahina purchased directly from louis vuitton. I noticed several on this website and knew by looking at the placement of the hardware they were not authentic. I reached out to them to let them know, thinking they'd be all over it.They were rude, nasty, argumentative and defensive. I emailed them a photo of my genuine bag showing them the hardware that should be on it. They had the nerve to tell my bag was not a mahina! Though I purchased it directly from a louis vuitton store. Wow! I decided then and there I would never deal with this company. I left the same review on another website to which they responded horribly. Literally tried to verbally crucify me.
I reached out to them a few years ago about a Louis Vuitton XL Mahina bag they had listed. I knew by the placement of the rivets that it was not authentic. I know this, because I have this bag, purchased directly from Louis Vuitton. When I did get a response they were very rude and defensive. I even sent them a photo of the rivet placement on my authentic bag. They tried to tell me my bag was not a Mahina. I left an honest review to which they responded very nastily. I decided at that point not to do business with them. I shop on ebay. I am very careful and am given a money back guarantee including shipping if I am not happy. Items listed on the realreal pop up all the time when I am serching specific products on line. However, I would never buy from them because of my personal experience.
My account got locked for some reason and was told will be fixed between 1-2 days. Four days later they telling me the same thing that "internal team" is working on it.This Web is a SCAM... do not buy anything from them.
Answer: Do not buy from them! Their return/refund policy is skewed to their benefit. In my case, I bought a Louis Vuitton bag and when it was received it was not in the condition advertised or the photos did not highlight the real wear of the bag and they refused to make a refund or credit. It's their lost because I have since bought many bags on Ebay which offers guarantee of refund should item be faulty or misrepresented. Also, on Ebay you can judge by seller feedback whether the seller is reputable and PRICES are so much less than on the REAL REAL. Their name should be changed to the REAL GREED!
Answer: Hi Samantha. The RealReal does sometimes ask for additional information from customers for a one time security check. Most times, this is for new customers who have never shopped with us before, orders with vastly different billing and shipping information, or are international customers with unverified credit cards. We will ask for some sensitive and personal information for the purposes of verifying the identity of the purchaser but we will not ask for a Social Security Number. Was your father attempting to complete his purchase via Affirm? Affirm is a third party company we work with that offers financing on purchases. If your father was attempting to complete a purchase via Affirm, they do require a SSN for a soft credit check for the loan approval and repayment options. As Affirm is a third party, we do not have access to any of that information so it is secure with Affirm. Of course, no one is required to use Affirm for check out, rather it's just another payment option we offer. Please feel free to reach out to us if this does not answer your questions or if you feel that the explanations provided were not applicable to your situation. You can reach out to our Customer Service Department at (855) 435 5893 from 8am to 5pm (PST). If you would like to speak to a supervisor directly, please feel free to ask for Caitlin from our NJ office. Answer: If you like to be frustrated, disappointed and want to take a few years off your life, then yes consign with the real real.
Answer: I do NOT recommend selling through TRR. Read all seller reviews. This a speed selling co trying to cash in on a quick commission. The prices they assign are RIDICULOULOUS at best. They are not there to get you a good price but a fast buck for themselves. They priced a brand new prada bag with a label on at $625. Minus 20% permanent discount, 60% of that, I receive a whopping $312. After 10 days wait of processing and seeing the prices assigned I pulled my items. I was shocked and even more upset. I rather give the cloths to charity or sell them myself. I think it is insiders who buy the best items at dirt cheap prices they assign themselves. As a buyer just today I receive a wrong item. They were going to research the problem and find the item I purchased, a coat. They sent me a dirty silk top... This is after waiting for 10 days to get the wrong item. This co is just very bad. Customer service is spotty. Some reps are just dreadful. They sound like this is a summer gig and they got no training, you can never speak to a supervisor, none is ever available, Read the reviews and decide if you still want to use this co. If you do, you will be disappointed,
Answer: Hello, We are sorry to hear of your concerns. If you can please send us your order number or email address we will happily research this further.
Answer: Hi Frank, Thank you for reaching out. We apologize you have seen more negative than positive reviews. We would be pleased to advise you on our consignment process and share a little more insight about the RealReal.
Answer: I don't work for The Real Real I am just a satisfied customer, very satisfied! I see all the complaints, and just shake my head. Knowing how people can be, and also knowing the complainers are the ones who write letters, I can only assume they are "out of touch with reality", or POSSIBLY are competitors who are just being difficult to try and hurt the site. Remember, anyone can write anything, that does not mean it is true, nor are ALL the facts being presented! As for me, I am willing to show, and prove who I am, and the great products and service I received.
Answer: This happened to me only one time, and I have sold quite a few items with them. As soon as I received the quote for a pair of earrings. I contacted them immediately and said I felt the price was to low due to various reasons, and they got back to me the next day with an adjusted price. I have never experienced what you are describing above as a bait and switch scenario, and I always check the similar or same items they are selling. I would just call them and ask for the details as to why the other item is higher. Sorry you had a bad experience!
Answer: File a complaint with the US Customs office in your area and your state's attorney general. Also for many types of goods, they will destroy the counterfeit goods and give you a letter stating they have done so. This is ironclad proof for the bank dispute.
Answer: I have returned things with no hassle at all.
