I sent an $800 retail formal dress in excellent condition for consignment. In just a few weeks, the price declined on the site to $24. I asked for the dress to be returned to me at that point, as allowed by their T&C. It's been 2 months, and they still have my dress. Each time I contact them they say it's been "expedited" and I'll receive it in 2 weeks. Today, they said 4 weeks because of a "long queue of expedited items." What? Sounds like a scripted plan to keep items from consigners who will likely give up after several weeks of this runaround.
I sent my jewelry to Real Real with the stipulation that they only sell them upon my approval (as in the past, I lost lots of money with them). However, they still uploaded my jewelry for very low prices, below the second-hand market. I assume the management took some for themselves, as I can't see any other reason why they are ignoring our written agreement and listing diamond jewelry for prices well below the market value.
I did a price comparison on some items from the brand Badgley Mischka, and I found that their lab-grown diamond jewelry is being sold at extremely high prices. It seems like there's some dubious activity going on, as they sold my 5-carat ring in an amazing platinum setting, which is valued at $20,000, for only $5,000. At the same time, they are selling a 1.96 lab-grown diamond simple ring for $5,372.
I feel like I have been robbed.
I am so frustrated as a consumer that they've blocked me even though I received only 2 out of 4 items I purchased 40 days ago. They promised to send the rest, but it never arrived. I got a refund after disputing with my credit card company. Now, they're blocking me from making a new purchase, claiming I falsely reported not receiving the items. I provided the tracking number multiple times, but they refuse to acknowledge it. I'm determined to fight this until the end. They told me that it was delivered and I am a layer so I need to cancel for dispute for refund of lost clothes if I want to shop on Realreal site again. They told me that only I can cancel the dispute card company, then they will unblocked me. It was totally unfair and This situation is absurd discrimination and an unjust consumer protection law.
I am now waiting 6 weeks for my item to be listed. I should have sold it on EBay or poshmark. Don't waste your time.
They sent me a shipping label from UPS. I sent my watch as they asked. It is a Hublot Gold Big Bang.Mint. $20,000.They confirmed it was picked up by UPS. Then…when UPS could not locate it, they told me it's not their problem.
I'm suing them
I received an expensive ring from The Real Real, which was listed as 4.5, but it fits my middle finger- size 6. I took pics and emailed them to the customer service while I was on the phone with the representative thinking they would make the return process as easy as possible. To my shock, I don't remember ever being spoken to and treated with such disrespect, dismissal and undermining. The person was insinuating and questioning my intent (I've only been shopping with The Real Real for ten years and I'm also a good consigner). Not only did I not get the apology and a proper accommodation, I got poor bedside manners, rudeness, anger, which set me off to tears. It also triggered my anxiety, which is something I struggle with. When I asked to speak to the supervisor, the representative denied me and made it clear it's not even an option. What I tools from this experience is that the company is struggling because people who work for abundant well to do organizations have their top clients backs and come from a place of a yes. Be wary with your next purchase. If it happened to me, it could happen to everyone. The picture shows that instead of fitting on my ring finger (4.5) it goes on the middle one I'm size 6.
As a customer of TRR since their inception, I don't know what's happened to their one time great products and service. I have spent thousands of dollars on their site over a decade now! Their descriptions are inaccurate, the quality control is inconsistent, and customer service is the worst! One item will be listed as very good but arrives as a "fine" (the lowest quality rating). I've received items measured wrong, and listed as final sale. Now I'm stuck with expensive items that were inaccurate descriptions, they won't take back. Online buyers depend on the measurements and item descriptions. Take accountability! So many online designer consignments now, time to exit from TRR! Photo of leather jacket listed as Very Good quality, online photos did not reveal this one inch black ink stain!
I submitted a cartier bracelet for sale. The bracelet sold 5 minutes after it was posted. I went in to the website and realized that I was dupped. The same bracelet online are been sold for over $1000 more than mine was sold and some in worse condition.
I caution anyone selling with TRR.
It was a great process shoes and clothing was all in tact
My first time selling items on this site. I shipped 3 pairs of shoes worthy $2000 I only got $300. Snd they are the ones plan the price while other site you sell your own items. I bought a shoes $800 in good condition and they gave me $150. And they never returned my items
Recently The Rearreal added the option of purchasing "insurance" so that you can return a handbag (normally final sale) - I purchased the insurance and bought a Prada bag - which was VERY different from it's pictures and not what i wanted. But when i tried to return it using the insurance i fell down a rabbit hole - Xcover is a seperate, nearly disfunctional website where you need to file a claim and then - NOTHING. I never heard from them. Meanwhile The Realreal told me they have nothing to do with Xcover, it's a seperate business and it's out of their hands. Yes, more terrible customer service from TRR and they have found another way to rip-off their customers. If you buy a bag plan on keeping it and DO NOT waste your money on the so-called return insurance
I've been a VIP consigner since 2019, and they were reliable before COVID hit. However, recently I had a disappointing experience. I requested a couple of items to be shipped back to me, but they sent them to the wrong address in a different state! Although I caught the error early, it took multiple attempts to correct it with UPS. To make matters worse, they got the receiver's name wrong, causing the package to return to them. It's been three weeks, and I still haven't received my bag.
Moreover, several items on their site keep changing status from listed to sold to pending review. Despite numerous emails, I received no response until I called them. They informed me that they couldn't find the items in their warehouse during shipping. They promised to investigate and provide a resolution, but I'm skeptical.
Adding insult to injury, they updated their commission structure without notice. I sold my GIVENCHY tee for $100 but ended up with only $12. This situation is unacceptable and reflects poorly on their service integrity.
Highly discourage anyone from using this service. After two months of back and forth they claim they never received one of two items in same box. This was after one of the sales reps told me not to worry and I would be made whole. I provided photos of both items in box when I shipped. This means they don't really inspect items for quality of entire pieces go missing and if any issue arises, it's your word against theirs, even with photos.
Ive used TRR for many years to get items for clients and family. There is a lot of crap but some things are nice. Last year I bought a bracelet and kept waiting for it. The tracking kept saying Awaiting Carrier Pickup. After 2 weeks the company says they cancelled my order due to inventory. So they didnt have the item but took my money anyways?
In December I ordered a ring and bracelet for Xmas for my mom. Weeks go by. The tracking still says Awaiting Carrier Pickup. Im charged THOUSANDS of dollars, I have no items and TRR keeps sending me emails saying theyre working on it.
After 2 months I file a dispute with the bank
What does TRR do? Lock my account because I dares to file a dispute. IM SORRY THEY TOOK MY MONEY AND DIDNT DELIVER MY ITEMS AND IM WRONG TO COMPLAIN TO MY BANK?
Dealing with them now is like dealing with George Santos. They take your money and dont send you the goods and just lie lie lie theyre looking into the matter
Waiting for them to file Chapt 11 at this point
I have bren dealing with TRR for several years. Both as a seller and as a customer. If you are looking for deals on luxury items this is your place. If you have luxury items to sell however it will leave you feeling disappointed and honestly taken advantage of.
I have sent in items for consignment that I purchased from TRR that did not work out only to have them rejected when I listed them for consignment,This is quite puzzling. I also notice that some high end items are so worn out that they should not be accepted but they accept them for whatever reason? Also the commission is so low I should have just done a local consignment. These were luxury brands that TRR accepts per their website. I also have found that either an idiot Ike a monkey must be taking the measurements and descriptions which are laughable. Example listing a nightgown as a mini dress or pajama pants as trousers and listing the items as the wrong designer. The customer service is lack luster at best,
One of my items sold for 103 dollars And I got 31 dollars from that. Not the 85% they advertised. Sell elsewhere
I ordered an item as a Christmas gift. I had recently moved, and didn't realize the shipping address was not updated when I submitted my order. I realized this literally less than 60 seconds after the order was placed. So, I immediately went back to the website, updated the shipping address on both my account AND the order. I did this before the order had even been processed. The order was still sent to the wrong address. As it was not the correct address, the item was returned to TRR warehouse. It was then shipped a 2nd time, again to the wrong address. The entire time this was playing out, I was in contact with TRR customer service...who kept blowing smoke up my $#*!. When it was all said and done, they took (and kept) my money, refused to help remedy the situation, and I never received the item I ordered. This is by far the most sketchy and dishonest company I've ever dealt with.
I bought shoes advertised at size 12, it arrived size 9, the number is clearly on the bottom so unless they're literally illiterate there's no excuse and then i contacted customer service and they were terrible it's like its their first time talking to a human like to admittance of fault what so ever even when i sent picture receipts and acting like its my fault for ordering shoes 3 sizes smaller than mine even tho they're the one who made the listing
They underprice to sell hyper fast. My clothes instantly sold because the price is ridiculously low compared to others (so if you are new, they tend to sacrifice your clothes, compared to OGs or people affiliated, thus the discrepancy among prices).
I use now a different platform with better commission fees.
Example: send a never worn (too small) 600$ gift and they listed it at 60$, sold in the minute it was listed and I got 12$ commission.
They refuse any price adjustment and also without you knowing remove an extra 20% off the price via a coupon people use.
I use the platform as a buyer, it's much better but good prices instantly get added to someone's cart (so it feels like a bait) and I never got these amazing pieces super cheap, but I still get great deals once in a while.
I made the mistake of selling some very beautiful, barely used handbags to TRR. I take very good care of my bags and when I looked at the listing and it was labeled as "okay condition" should have been my first red flag. I sent about 6 really nice bags. All different dollar amount. 1 was around $3,000 and the other one they sold cost me about $1,700. They both sold for the exact same amount. Another red flag! I immediately contacted my Rep and told her to return the rest of my bags to me. A TRUE SCAM! Giving them any stars would suggest they did something remotely good. THEY DID NOT! But I can't post this review without giving them a star. There should be a negative star option. TRR should be ashamed of what they are doing.
Answer: Do not buy from them! Their return/refund policy is skewed to their benefit. In my case, I bought a Louis Vuitton bag and when it was received it was not in the condition advertised or the photos did not highlight the real wear of the bag and they refused to make a refund or credit. It's their lost because I have since bought many bags on Ebay which offers guarantee of refund should item be faulty or misrepresented. Also, on Ebay you can judge by seller feedback whether the seller is reputable and PRICES are so much less than on the REAL REAL. Their name should be changed to the REAL GREED!
Answer: Hi Samantha. The RealReal does sometimes ask for additional information from customers for a one time security check. Most times, this is for new customers who have never shopped with us before, orders with vastly different billing and shipping information, or are international customers with unverified credit cards. We will ask for some sensitive and personal information for the purposes of verifying the identity of the purchaser but we will not ask for a Social Security Number. Was your father attempting to complete his purchase via Affirm? Affirm is a third party company we work with that offers financing on purchases. If your father was attempting to complete a purchase via Affirm, they do require a SSN for a soft credit check for the loan approval and repayment options. As Affirm is a third party, we do not have access to any of that information so it is secure with Affirm. Of course, no one is required to use Affirm for check out, rather it's just another payment option we offer. Please feel free to reach out to us if this does not answer your questions or if you feel that the explanations provided were not applicable to your situation. You can reach out to our Customer Service Department at (855) 435 5893 from 8am to 5pm (PST). If you would like to speak to a supervisor directly, please feel free to ask for Caitlin from our NJ office. She is available from 9am to 6pm (EST) and of course you can reach us via email at: [email protected].
Answer: If you like to be frustrated, disappointed and want to take a few years off your life, then yes consign with the real real.
Answer: I do NOT recommend selling through TRR. Read all seller reviews. This a speed selling co trying to cash in on a quick commission. The prices they assign are RIDICULOULOUS at best. They are not there to get you a good price but a fast buck for themselves. They priced a brand new prada bag with a label on at $625. Minus 20% permanent discount, 60% of that, I receive a whopping $312. After 10 days wait of processing and seeing the prices assigned I pulled my items. I was shocked and even more upset. I rather give the cloths to charity or sell them myself. I think it is insiders who buy the best items at dirt cheap prices they assign themselves. As a buyer just today I receive a wrong item. They were going to research the problem and find the item I purchased, a coat. They sent me a dirty silk top... This is after waiting for 10 days to get the wrong item. This co is just very bad. Customer service is spotty. Some reps are just dreadful. They sound like this is a summer gig and they got no training, you can never speak to a supervisor, none is ever available, Read the reviews and decide if you still want to use this co. If you do, you will be disappointed,
Answer: Hello, We are sorry to hear of your concerns. If you can please send us your order number or email address we will happily research this further.
Answer: Hi Frank, Thank you for reaching out. We apologize you have seen more negative than positive reviews. We would be pleased to advise you on our consignment process and share a little more insight about the RealReal.
Answer: I don't work for The Real Real I am just a satisfied customer, very satisfied! I see all the complaints, and just shake my head. Knowing how people can be, and also knowing the complainers are the ones who write letters, I can only assume they are "out of touch with reality", or POSSIBLY are competitors who are just being difficult to try and hurt the site. Remember, anyone can write anything, that does not mean it is true, nor are ALL the facts being presented! As for me, I am willing to show, and prove who I am, and the great products and service I received.
Answer: This happened to me only one time, and I have sold quite a few items with them. As soon as I received the quote for a pair of earrings. I contacted them immediately and said I felt the price was to low due to various reasons, and they got back to me the next day with an adjusted price. I have never experienced what you are describing above as a bait and switch scenario, and I always check the similar or same items they are selling. I would just call them and ask for the details as to why the other item is higher. Sorry you had a bad experience!
Answer: File a complaint with the US Customs office in your area and your state's attorney general. Also for many types of goods, they will destroy the counterfeit goods and give you a letter stating they have done so. This is ironclad proof for the bank dispute.
Answer: I have returned things with no hassle at all.
