The RealReal I am so incredibly disappointed with my first shopping experience. I purchased a pair of Stuart Weizmann boots and was so excited to get them. Unfortunately they were listed as size 9 but when they arrived they were actually a size 6. Accidents happen so I agreed to send them back for a refund m. My issue is that I was not offered a return shipping label and had to pay for the return shipping myself. I was told this would be reimbursed. Logan the supervisor I spoke to refused to issue the refund and offered me a store credit instead. As I will never be shopping here again after this experience a credit is no good to me. I provided all the paperwork for the shipping and still I am out money. This doesn't even include the customs duties to Canada that I paid or the fist shipping fee I paid to get the boots. Nor does it take into consideration I didn't have boots for my holiday event. Unsatisfactory to say the least. I don't recommend shopping here because the company does not take responsibility for their mistakes. You'll never get your money back and that is too big of a risk for me to take.
I bought a pairs of Salvator Ferragamo boots. I loved the style so I was confident they would be comfortable as well. I wore them for less then an hour when I realized that something was wrong with the boots. I sat down to look down and I saw the sole was completely tore apart and came off. I couldn't believe what I was seeing especially with the big name brand like Salvatore Ferragamo. I called the customer service the next day and explained what happened. I sent them the pictures from every angle of the damaged boots. They refused to refund me and said it was passed the return window. What a scam this place is to sell defective items without saying anything about it in the ad. Shame on you The Real Real. You lost a customer who bought $ 1000 of $ over the years from you. I will close my account with you. Scammers!
I have experienced the very worst customer service on 2 separate orders within days of each other. The 1st order, despite customer service confirming on 2 separate occasions that they had updated the shipping address, as I had requested, Real Real, unilaterally cancelled the order. Hours later, a previously ordered pair of pants arrived, 4 sizes smaller than the size described.
I sent in to the real real A gown that cost $1350 brand new the reason why I was selling it is because it did not fit. The tags were on it and everything. They listed it for $197.00. Which is outrageous I then contacted them about getting my dress back at which time there was $115 fee just to get my dress back then I got an email saying it was sold, and when I contacted them, they said it was not sold. It's being returned to you. They don't know their $#*! from a hole in the ground customer service was very helpful but the amount of money you pay for your item versus what they listed for is completely outrageous. You're better off selling it on Poshmark or eBay

If I could give 0 Stars I would. I ordered a Black Chanel Mini Rectangular from the The Real Real. I ended up receiving a Navy Blue Chanel Mini Rectangular. I made a case with them and sent them photos. They approved the return. When they received it, they rejected my return and are still claiming it is black although it clearly is not. I am sadly having to report this now because I didn't get the item I ordered. The Real Real is now sending the bag back to me and refusing to issue a fair refund owed to me. I am beyond disappointed and shocked with how this is being handled. I feel like I am being scammed by this company. In the photos, the BLACK bag I already own is on the right and the NAVY bag they sent me is on the left. I also included a copy of the snip from the listing which shows and lists the bag as black.
Took all items listed for designers they take to the store including a Valentino handbag. It took several weeks to have the items evaluated. Then I learned one item was rejected as too worn… ok fine. But the Valentino tote was rejected because they allegedly didn't take the designer. When I complained to my consigner she said she would speak with them and offered a $25.00 credit to use in store. The decision stood but when I decided to consign elsewhere because of their deceptive policies, they charged me to get back the items not accepted. Again from the store I understood this would happen at the end of the period if the items didn't sell. Not if I rejected their evaluation. So I suggested to consigner to use the $25 credit towards shipping. Camille refused that also. Better experience at Fashiophile without a doubt
The real real gives you a runaround they lie to you and keep you stuff for 2 months then tell you they won't sell it but for 2 months have you thinking there selling it tell you all kinds of misleading information then send you back your stuff you don't even know if they are sending back the same purse or a fake one and they keep your real one don't trust them they are a bunch of con artists
I have been a customer (both seller and buyer) for years! They were great when I first started using them; however over the last year they have gone seriously downhill! I bought a $300 Prada hat which was supposed to be shipped to my home via UPS, when I spoke to the online chat representative "Kevin", I was told it was shipped the day I inquired (4.75 days after I had ordered it) and he became super defensive when I said 5 days...he basically accosted me for saying 5 days instead of 4.75 days. My hat never arrived and after that interaction I was honestly hesitant and borderline "afraid" of another confrontation. Finally after not having my hat for another week I reached out to customer service email - took them 6 full days to get back to me - 6! In the meantime my hat came and it was fine. When I told the rep the story she refunded me my shipping, but offered no apology or even a credit for future purpose - which is what most online stores do to keep customer's from being angry - but nothing.
Also my previous purchase of $500 included clothing that was so disgusting and stained I would have never even donated it! Two items were filthy and one had embroidery with loose threading everywhere - they were sold as Good or Excellent Condition! Even though they were non-refundable they did accept them back but I have decided no matter how good the deal is on TRR I will not buy it! Awful, useless customer service and horribly stained clothing is not my idea of a Luxury experience.
I had a limited edition Supreme x Louis Vuitton Skateboard that was listed for just under 100K which it had a fixed price for since it was so expensive. After over a year I saw that it was listed for 50K. I understand that they have to mark things down but told them I wouldnt sell it for any lower than that and would like to take it back. They said they would follow up with me with instructions on how to get it back and no one did. A few month later I see that its down to 25K and email them to take it off their site and send it back to me as I have not agreed to sell it for that low. Well guess what, by the time they get around to responding to me it sells. They offered me a $100 store credit as an apology.
They gave me some prices beforehand, but once I gave them items to sell, they priced them at a much liver price and discounted them immediately. I would have got a better deal just to donate them and claim a tax deduction. A total scam. Do not even bother.
The Real Real is selling merchandise that that don't reveal problems of.I received a defective glaze problem Louis Vuitton.they did not reveal this in their ad.then they have the nerve to tell me I can't be refunded.mso now I'll sue them for my 1500. 00.they were not honest and decieved me. Be very careful or you'll loose your money too.see the photos...they neglected to add these photos in their online ad...they clearly decieved me.
I had an unworn Chiara Boni Long Dress that i Purchsed for $1000 but never wore. Decided to sell on The Real Real. They listed for only $265 and took a 20% commission off the top, leaving me with $212. Then they took another commission of 45% leaving only $116.60. Then to top if off they charged me $10 to write a check and send it too me. RIDICULOUS!
Although they have their "what is my commission" on their site they need to be transparent when it comes to the actual amount you'll actually be receiving when the item is sold. I received $14 on new Kate spade purse and $44 on a Rebecca minkoff purse. The first and last time I use the site for consignment. You are better off selling the items on your own.
Do not consign with this unscrupulous poorly managed company.
I was pestered via calls, emails, texts by several people to consign with them but no one seems to know who does what.
Told that my "luxury specialist" would support me for the first 30 days to only find out that she does nothing but pester for new consignments and emails you a label to mail your stuff in. See photos.
Asked my "luxury specialist" about getting items returned if I wasn't happy with the listing and was told I could get them back anytime. Lie by omission...you have to pay $15 per item and they take forever to return items. See photo of her reply when I asked about returns.
$600+ non trendy Manolos that were worn once had box and dustbag listed at such a low price that I would be paid $30.
The description/designers of two handbags were mixed up and weeks later still not fixed. See photo with Jimmy Choo handbag listed as Marc Jacobs (the Marc Jacobs is listed as Jimmy Choo).
Listings for items received in mid-October still not complete. See Dior Sandal.
Non trendy very classy Louboutins that were worn once, perfect condition other than wear on soles from that one wear, with box and dust bag listed only as "very good." Come to find out "excellent" is only for non-worn shoes even though there is also a category called "pristine."
Handbag that was rejected still hasn't been returned even though they received it a month ago.
Have been contacting them for weeks to get my problems straightened out and they keep telling me that they are escalating it. I wonder what "non-escalation" is like?
They are holding my items hostage...not listing and not returning unless I pay $15 per item.
I have bought over 180 items from designer clothes, shoes and caps. Until recently that I'm starting to get pissed off with the real real. They would usually send my items through UPS or USPS. Now they started using Ontrac courier that does not have customer support phone numbers and its drivers only steal packages. I have had 2 packages lost 2 times out of 2 times that the real real this courier service. I have had packages sent by the real real to me through UPS more than 180 times and I have never had a single missing package because I sign all the time before receiving packages. The Indians that do the customer service supports for the real real do not listen at all, I have told them to not use ONTRAC courier service with my shipments and it is not about refunding for the lost items but I just want to have some items and keep them for a long time.
I was hopeful about this site, but it has been an utter disappointment.
They underpriced (by a lot) a pair of Perfect Moment ski pants which sold before I could protest at the price (of course because someone say a deal!). They did apologize and correct. Then they underpriced a BRAND NEW Dagne Dover large backpack- listing it as fair when it was pristine still with the tissue paper on. Of course that sold quickly too. I got virtually nothing for it and would never have agreed to that price.
AND THE LATEST is a pair of Chloe booties, in good condition they said. They arrived unwearable - zipper broken. I reached out and they said mail them back for your money back. I did through UPS- it got lost and they refuse to refund me for the broken boots. They insist them need them back first. I sent them pictures. Someone at the Real Real mailed out visibly damaged and unwearable boots. Terrible.
They don't know what they are doing. They are disorganized. I have no idea who is pricing. Who is sending out the items not caring their condition.
I'm done. Heading to Poshmark or my local boutique consignment shop.
I bought a BAPE sweatshirt from them for my son and he just out grew it so he went to sell it. When the store went through their authentication process they pointed out multiple thing that showed us this was a fake. The letters were uneven, the tag was fake, there were miss spelled words and missing punctuation marks on the tag that told you how to wash it. A $300 sweatshirt that was originally $475, that was supposed to be authenticated by professional should not have missed all these things. I guess I trusted this site, so I assumed everything was legit. Now I'm questioning everything I bought there. I highly recommend getting your items authenticated by a real professional if you bought anything from them. I added pictures of a bunch of things that indicates this was not authentic, a real Authenticator picked these out in less than 10 min. It's so upsetting to know I was scammed, and wonder how many other people are being scammed by them everyday!
I ordered Gucci vintage driving loafers. Size 6. They arrived in about a size 7.5 and are absolutely fake. I know because I have an old actual Gucci pair of the same shoes. I paid $275.00 for them. I texted customer service and after a lengthy exchange, I was texted that a rep would contact me. When I looked at my account it said non-returnable. Noone contacted me.
BEWARE
Said they lost it, but it was mailed to a employee address. They gave me chump change for it. ($200 store credit) it was a 3k bag, in p*ssed.
The representative Haddy. Was not knowledgeable at all. Stayed on the chat with me for two hours and didn't resolve my issue. I placed an order and they sent me a notification saying that I canceled the order when I didn't I called back and they stated it's because my billing information did not match. Which was not the case never had this issue in the world. They would not apply a $25 credit that I was due to the account as a promotion and didn't have any good reason. The customer service rep was absolutely terrible and not knowledgeable. I would not suggest dealing with this site right
Answer: Do not buy from them! Their return/refund policy is skewed to their benefit. In my case, I bought a Louis Vuitton bag and when it was received it was not in the condition advertised or the photos did not highlight the real wear of the bag and they refused to make a refund or credit. It's their lost because I have since bought many bags on Ebay which offers guarantee of refund should item be faulty or misrepresented. Also, on Ebay you can judge by seller feedback whether the seller is reputable and PRICES are so much less than on the REAL REAL. Their name should be changed to the REAL GREED!
Answer: Hi Samantha. The RealReal does sometimes ask for additional information from customers for a one time security check. Most times, this is for new customers who have never shopped with us before, orders with vastly different billing and shipping information, or are international customers with unverified credit cards. We will ask for some sensitive and personal information for the purposes of verifying the identity of the purchaser but we will not ask for a Social Security Number. Was your father attempting to complete his purchase via Affirm? Affirm is a third party company we work with that offers financing on purchases. If your father was attempting to complete a purchase via Affirm, they do require a SSN for a soft credit check for the loan approval and repayment options. As Affirm is a third party, we do not have access to any of that information so it is secure with Affirm. Of course, no one is required to use Affirm for check out, rather it's just another payment option we offer. Please feel free to reach out to us if this does not answer your questions or if you feel that the explanations provided were not applicable to your situation. You can reach out to our Customer Service Department at (855) 435 5893 from 8am to 5pm (PST). If you would like to speak to a supervisor directly, please feel free to ask for Caitlin from our NJ office. She is available from 9am to 6pm (EST) and of course you can reach us via email at: [email protected].
Answer: If you like to be frustrated, disappointed and want to take a few years off your life, then yes consign with the real real.
Answer: I do NOT recommend selling through TRR. Read all seller reviews. This a speed selling co trying to cash in on a quick commission. The prices they assign are RIDICULOULOUS at best. They are not there to get you a good price but a fast buck for themselves. They priced a brand new prada bag with a label on at $625. Minus 20% permanent discount, 60% of that, I receive a whopping $312. After 10 days wait of processing and seeing the prices assigned I pulled my items. I was shocked and even more upset. I rather give the cloths to charity or sell them myself. I think it is insiders who buy the best items at dirt cheap prices they assign themselves. As a buyer just today I receive a wrong item. They were going to research the problem and find the item I purchased, a coat. They sent me a dirty silk top... This is after waiting for 10 days to get the wrong item. This co is just very bad. Customer service is spotty. Some reps are just dreadful. They sound like this is a summer gig and they got no training, you can never speak to a supervisor, none is ever available, Read the reviews and decide if you still want to use this co. If you do, you will be disappointed,
Answer: Hello, We are sorry to hear of your concerns. If you can please send us your order number or email address we will happily research this further.
Answer: Hi Frank, Thank you for reaching out. We apologize you have seen more negative than positive reviews. We would be pleased to advise you on our consignment process and share a little more insight about the RealReal.
Answer: I don't work for The Real Real I am just a satisfied customer, very satisfied! I see all the complaints, and just shake my head. Knowing how people can be, and also knowing the complainers are the ones who write letters, I can only assume they are "out of touch with reality", or POSSIBLY are competitors who are just being difficult to try and hurt the site. Remember, anyone can write anything, that does not mean it is true, nor are ALL the facts being presented! As for me, I am willing to show, and prove who I am, and the great products and service I received.
Answer: This happened to me only one time, and I have sold quite a few items with them. As soon as I received the quote for a pair of earrings. I contacted them immediately and said I felt the price was to low due to various reasons, and they got back to me the next day with an adjusted price. I have never experienced what you are describing above as a bait and switch scenario, and I always check the similar or same items they are selling. I would just call them and ask for the details as to why the other item is higher. Sorry you had a bad experience!
Answer: File a complaint with the US Customs office in your area and your state's attorney general. Also for many types of goods, they will destroy the counterfeit goods and give you a letter stating they have done so. This is ironclad proof for the bank dispute.
Answer: I have returned things with no hassle at all.
