Bout a very expensive watch and the 18k gold clasp broke the day after I received the watch, i had to return it and cant get anyone to tell me what will happen with the watch
Partial refund to repair faulty clasp on necklace. Necklace fell off a couple times. Jeweler recommended a better clasp. More expensive than the refund

I order from your site a lot, but you have to stop making people pay for shipping, it's not competitive amongst other online in-trend fashion retailers (Revolve, ShopBop, Net-a-Porter). It's also quite frustrating when you're ordering pieces from designers you have never tried on, which is one of the points of your business "making luxury affordable". I don't live in a city where I can walk in and return items I order at a brick and mortar. In your business model, you get your order inventory for free rather than purchasing it, you should fix your operating budget to account for paying for shipping and returns especially if up you're not paying for inventory and having to mark-up. If I can send an item to sell in without paying for shipping and your team can reject it and send it back without having the customer pay for shipping, then the same free shipping experience should apply when you're actually purchasing items. The shipping is a barrier to entry and I would actually purchase more from you if I didn't have to pay for it, but sometimes I don't how I'm going to like something or know how a designer I have never worn before is going to fit and I am aware of how much money I spend and I don't want to waste $20 on ordering something and returning something if I can order from a site that has free shipping and returns. You are not making yourselves competitive enough in a highly competitive niche market. It would be appreciated if someone got back to me on this, because this is the one reason I don't shop more with you even though I align with your mission of sustainability and affordable fashion and would much rather buy products from you than other retailers. To remain competitive and actually move items (that stay up and are available for far too long - over 90 days) you have to be able to pay for shipping, the experience is easy and seamless when I send you things to sell and it should be the same when I purchase an item from you.

I ordered a pendant which very clearly in the item description and the valuation report was supposed to contain a chain. Only the pendant arrived and when I asked about the chain I was told it didn't include one. However, I could clearly point to the section on the item description AND valuation report where it said it included an 18k gold chain. My issue got escalated and it's been 2 months and I haven't heard anything, no matter how many follow up emails I've sent.

It was pretty okay! I just wish the return process could be a little easier, faster and cheaper for international customers. However, it must be said that all correspondence with customer service was very polite and helpful.

Website is great and easy to navigate but beyond that the whole process was really poor. I ordered a number of items including a child's dress, and was sent an adult's dress. I requested a return but it was denied, as it was outside the 14 day return - this was explained by me not receiving the items until after the 14th day. Really unsatisfactory responses from the company and ended up giving clothes I'd been sent to charity- a waste of $200.

Sweater: As pictured, it was one color, upon opening purchase, there was a stripe of another color gong down both sides of the sweater (this should have been shown or printed in the description). UGH!
I've had a great experience with The RealReal. I love the site for many reasons; gives shoppers an opportunity to purchase items we missed out on while they were in stores, provides a more affordable option for shoppers who want to purchase luxury items without paying full retail (most items) and robust inventory updates daily. For the most part, customer service has been prompt, helpful and protocol oriented. One of the few exceptions is when I purchased two pairs of designer shoes during COVID that turned out to fake. Because they stayed on the shelf for an extended period of time (no one was wearing heals during the pandemic), I did not realize they were fake until after the return period. Customer service asked for proof of inspection from the store in my city, which the store does not offer. I was left with two pairs of fake Christian Loubitin shoes, which was super disappointing. I'm hesitant to purchase designer shoes since that event (see my purchase history which reflects less shoe purchases). It's unfortunate, but not worth the risk.
Answer: Do not buy from them! Their return/refund policy is skewed to their benefit. In my case, I bought a Louis Vuitton bag and when it was received it was not in the condition advertised or the photos did not highlight the real wear of the bag and they refused to make a refund or credit. It's their lost because I have since bought many bags on Ebay which offers guarantee of refund should item be faulty or misrepresented. Also, on Ebay you can judge by seller feedback whether the seller is reputable and PRICES are so much less than on the REAL REAL. Their name should be changed to the REAL GREED!

Most times, this is for new customers who have never shopped with us before, orders with vastly different billing and shipping information, or are international customers with unverified credit cards. We will ask for some sensitive and personal information for the purposes of verifying the identity of the purchaser but we will not ask for a Social Security Number. Was your father attempting to complete his purchase via Affirm? Affirm is a third party company we work with that offers financing on purchases. If your father was attempting to complete a purchase via Affirm, they do require a SSN for a soft credit check for the loan approval and repayment options. As Affirm is a third party, we do not have access to any of that information so it is secure with Affirm. Of course, no one is required to use Affirm for check out, rather it's just another payment option we offer. Answer: I do NOT recommend selling through TRR. Read all seller reviews. This a speed selling co trying to cash in on a quick commission. The prices they assign are RIDICULOULOUS at best. They are not there to get you a good price but a fast buck for themselves. They priced a brand new prada bag with a label on at $625. Minus 20% permanent discount, 60% of that, I receive a whopping $312. After 10 days wait of processing and seeing the prices assigned I pulled my items. I was shocked and even more upset. I rather give the cloths to charity or sell them myself. I think it is insiders who buy the best items at dirt cheap prices they assign themselves. As a buyer just today I receive a wrong item. They were going to research the problem and find the item I purchased, a coat. They sent me a dirty silk top... This is after waiting for 10 days to get the wrong item. This co is just very bad. Customer service is spotty. Some reps are just dreadful. They sound like this is a summer gig and they got no training, you can never speak to a supervisor, none is ever available, Read the reviews and decide if you still want to use this co. If you do, you will be disappointed,

Answer: I don't work for The Real Real I am just a satisfied customer, very satisfied! I see all the complaints, and just shake my head. Knowing how people can be, and also knowing the complainers are the ones who write letters, I can only assume they are "out of touch with reality", or POSSIBLY are competitors who are just being difficult to try and hurt the site. Remember, anyone can write anything, that does not mean it is true, nor are ALL the facts being presented! As for me, I am willing to show, and prove who I am, and the great products and service I received.
Answer: This happened to me only one time, and I have sold quite a few items with them. As soon as I received the quote for a pair of earrings. I contacted them immediately and said I felt the price was to low due to various reasons, and they got back to me the next day with an adjusted price. I have never experienced what you are describing above as a bait and switch scenario, and I always check the similar or same items they are selling. I would just call them and ask for the details as to why the other item is higher. Sorry you had a bad experience!
Answer: File a complaint with the US Customs office in your area and your state's attorney general. Also for many types of goods, they will destroy the counterfeit goods and give you a letter stating they have done so. This is ironclad proof for the bank dispute.
