The customer service is ridiculously terrible. I had a simple issue with the payment system. Customer service made me jump through multiple hoops and I complied every time to get the issue (an error on their side) fixed. At some point they simply stopped replying. I sent email upon email, not only to customer service, but also to the general contact and feedback email addresses. NOTHING.
I then contacted The RealReal through the website chat function and my issue was resolved within the hour. Or so I thought. My refund was supposed to take 4-5 days. After a week I contacted them again through the chat function and was told that there had been an "error" with processing the refund. I can't help but wonder whether this delay had anything to do with the follow-up email I sent (again to three addresses), detailing my experience with customer service. AGAIN with no reply. After two weeks I finally did receive my refund (after it apparently wasn't processed correctly the first time).
I've never experienced anything like this, it's actually ridiculous. I never received an answer to my SIX emails, the last two of which were both addressed to 3 different The RealReal email addresses. I never asked for a discount or anything for free, I just wanted to be serviced as a customer, which I thought customer service was there for. You can see my last attempt at an answer attached. Blatantly ignored. I didn't know customer service was allowed to do that.
I simply needed to return two items but I never received a confirmation email with the pre-paid shipping label after I submitted the request. I tried multiple ways to get in touch with TRR customer service just to have the email sent. I emailed customer service my issue and no one responded to me. I then tried through the chat messenger on the site and my issue was never solved. Finally, I called but they directed me to a text chat with a representative. I was on the chat for almost an hour and they ended up sending me AND CHARGING ME for a pick up from UPS. I did not want this. I just wanted the email with the shipping label I could print to drop off the package at my UPS store. TRR needs to make it possible for customers to speak with someone in order to solve a simple problem. All in all, it was very frustrating, time-consuming, and costly.

I ordered a chanel tote and a pair of shoes for my daughter's wedding. Both items were exactly as described! The shoes however were a tad too tight so I had to return them. This process was the easiest I have ever experienced.

I have consigned items twice. Both times had issues. The first time I consigned, the warehouse lost all of my 18 items. I still do not have them in my sales account. This has been going on since July. The second consignment happened in August. I received my necklace back, but not the case it was in. I have yet to receive my earrings back. I just get passed from one service rep to the next.

I don't know what it is but I hate the scent of clothes I buy from theRealReal. I don't know if it is the smell of the warehouse they keep it or the smell of the previous owner's smell. Either way, I don't like that smell. Gross.

Photos are not high resolution which makes it difficult to see the garment before purchasing. Even by zooming it's very hard to see. Also the garments are often smelly or damaged.

TRR no longer has phone customer service now you have to message them and wait for a response up to 48 hrs. I recently started a message conversation on a purchase that i received damaged by shipping on October 22. As of today November 1, I'm still waiting for a resolve. Poor customer service.

My return package of 5 items worth $1600 went missing at UPS. The Real Real needs to file a trace request with UPS, and they simply don't care enough to do it! It's like beating your head against the wall - they just send you to the lowest level "associate" who does his best to get you to shut up and go away. I am out all this money and it might as well have been flushed down the toilet - there is no redress! Do business with these people at your own risk.

The Real Real has some good variety in many clothing areas (accessories as well as clothing and shoes) however the sizing was nor for me. I wear a size 12-14 and was never able to find a single article of clothing that actually fit me in that range. I also found the condition (clearly marked on the site) often did not match the pricing e.g. fading throughout, snags or pulls, but it was still very expensive for a used garment. My daughter has had good success, but alas I did not.
Answer: Do not buy from them! Their return/refund policy is skewed to their benefit. In my case, I bought a Louis Vuitton bag and when it was received it was not in the condition advertised or the photos did not highlight the real wear of the bag and they refused to make a refund or credit. It's their lost because I have since bought many bags on Ebay which offers guarantee of refund should item be faulty or misrepresented. Also, on Ebay you can judge by seller feedback whether the seller is reputable and PRICES are so much less than on the REAL REAL. Their name should be changed to the REAL GREED!

Most times, this is for new customers who have never shopped with us before, orders with vastly different billing and shipping information, or are international customers with unverified credit cards. We will ask for some sensitive and personal information for the purposes of verifying the identity of the purchaser but we will not ask for a Social Security Number. Was your father attempting to complete his purchase via Affirm? Affirm is a third party company we work with that offers financing on purchases. If your father was attempting to complete a purchase via Affirm, they do require a SSN for a soft credit check for the loan approval and repayment options. As Affirm is a third party, we do not have access to any of that information so it is secure with Affirm. Of course, no one is required to use Affirm for check out, rather it's just another payment option we offer. Answer: I do NOT recommend selling through TRR. Read all seller reviews. This a speed selling co trying to cash in on a quick commission. The prices they assign are RIDICULOULOUS at best. They are not there to get you a good price but a fast buck for themselves. They priced a brand new prada bag with a label on at $625. Minus 20% permanent discount, 60% of that, I receive a whopping $312. After 10 days wait of processing and seeing the prices assigned I pulled my items. I was shocked and even more upset. I rather give the cloths to charity or sell them myself. I think it is insiders who buy the best items at dirt cheap prices they assign themselves. As a buyer just today I receive a wrong item. They were going to research the problem and find the item I purchased, a coat. They sent me a dirty silk top... This is after waiting for 10 days to get the wrong item. This co is just very bad. Customer service is spotty. Some reps are just dreadful. They sound like this is a summer gig and they got no training, you can never speak to a supervisor, none is ever available, Read the reviews and decide if you still want to use this co. If you do, you will be disappointed,

Answer: I don't work for The Real Real I am just a satisfied customer, very satisfied! I see all the complaints, and just shake my head. Knowing how people can be, and also knowing the complainers are the ones who write letters, I can only assume they are "out of touch with reality", or POSSIBLY are competitors who are just being difficult to try and hurt the site. Remember, anyone can write anything, that does not mean it is true, nor are ALL the facts being presented! As for me, I am willing to show, and prove who I am, and the great products and service I received.
Answer: This happened to me only one time, and I have sold quite a few items with them. As soon as I received the quote for a pair of earrings. I contacted them immediately and said I felt the price was to low due to various reasons, and they got back to me the next day with an adjusted price. I have never experienced what you are describing above as a bait and switch scenario, and I always check the similar or same items they are selling. I would just call them and ask for the details as to why the other item is higher. Sorry you had a bad experience!
Answer: File a complaint with the US Customs office in your area and your state's attorney general. Also for many types of goods, they will destroy the counterfeit goods and give you a letter stating they have done so. This is ironclad proof for the bank dispute.
