I consigned some items recently. Not only it took forever to be posted(supposedly I have VIP status and. Should be faster), but some of the items DO NOT look like the items I have consigned! I tried to email and inquire about it-got email back that they will get in touch in 48 hrs -4 days later I called in- Jessenia (sorry not sure about spelling) who I talked to did not even feel that to say "Sorry for not getting back to you" would be appropriate- instead she said" Yes, we are very busy now".
Needless to say I am requesting all my items back and am never selling or buying with TRR again.
TRR remember your sellers/consignors matter as much as your buyers and they all deserve GOOD customer service!
I ordered a Lanvin Blazer that arrived unfinished, but it was not advertised as such and wasn't obvious in the pictures... By unfinished I mean that this item has a rough edge and is missing the collar completely, so it is not wearable and it is impossible to match this fabric to have a tailor attempt to finish the piece.
What's worse... it's not returnable.
Hi Crystal, we’re sorry you received your item in this condition. We promise we’ll make it right if an item you purchase from us doesn’t match the description on our site. Please DM us on social media with your order number and we'll sort this out for you.
Where do I begin?
I was sold a pair of boots that were marketed as Louis Vuitton for $445. I sent an email a few days after receiving my purchase pointing out they were from La Canadienne (with pictures) and is accordance with the site's own pricing, shouldn't have cost me more than $200. I got an email saying someone would get back to me (no one ever did). Two months later, having given up hope of ever hearing from the customer helpline, I wrote to the store nearest to me. Although the assistant manager was much more helpful than their helpline, the best she could do was offer me a $100 site credit or give me a slip to return the boots. (I imagine if I returned them they would be put back up on the website under the same listing and someone else would have the same problems I had.)
I wasn't able to pursue this matter earlier because I was dealing with not getting a refund from ANOTHER order. Again, emailing, calling, and texting the helpline did nothing. They just told me to wait 5-7 business days for a response. After a month of this, I finally filed a claim with PayPal and got a partial refund. This matter still hasn't been resolved to my satisfaction because one item I ordered would only be accepted as a return if I allowed them to sell it as a consignment piece. Surprise! After I got my refund for the other items, they took the consignment item off my account, deeply discounted it, and sold it without crediting me anything. I can't even re-open my claim with PayPal because I already received a partial refund.
It seems like no one on their customer helpline speaks fluent English or is even located in one of their stores or warehouses (which isn't the fault of the representatives I spoke to). I feel like they're limited by the company to only be able to send return tickets (which cost $12) or deflect complaints in hopes that customers get tired of trying.
There may be genuine articles on the site (which was sued by Chanel for selling counterfeit products), but unless you get lucky enough to have a smooth transaction, you'll get ripped off by their terrible return policy and customer service.
Hi Katie, we appreciate you sharing your experience with us and we're so sorry for the issues regarding your most recent orders. Our team would like to look into this further so we can help resolve this right away -- Please send us a DM on social media with the details of each order.
I had to contact customer service on September 13,2021 about my order from September 2. I talked with a very nice lady who was very helpful, my package had been damaged and one pair of shoes was not in the box. She gave me a credit for the damaged box and she waived the return shipping fee, both of which I really appreciated. I will order from TheRealReal again, very positive experience.
Thank you so much for sharing your experience with us, Mary Ann. We're so happy our team was able to assist you with your return.
I've had 4 expensive jewelry items lost for 6 months with no resolve. Customer service sucks. I'm a huge customer so no excuse.
Hi Kim, we're truly sorry to hear this and we'd like to understand more so we can help. Please reach out to our team on social media so we can help ASAP.
I was supposed to get € 114 back, only got € 77.60.
Regarding isabel marant sneakers.
Hi Mirjam, thank you for bringing this to our attention. Please reach out to our team on social media with your order details so we can help right away.
I ordered an item and chose in store pickup. I received an email stating to wait for another email confirming I could pick the item up from the physical store. I never received an email, and when I contacted TRR wondering where the item was, I then received another email stating I had been refunded my money. I tried calling customer service, no help there. I tried emailing again stating I didn't want a refund, I wanted my item, no reply. Overall, terrible customer service. Never ordering off TRR again.
Hi Megan, we're truly sorry for your experience with us and appreciate you sharing this feedback with us. Our team would like to look into this further -- Please DM us on social media with your order details so we can help.
I would say that I am overall very satisfied with the RealReal platform and service. I'm on the app all the time.
My only issue was that the receipt for dropping off merch for consignment could be more thorough and detailed. The email that I received upon dropping off items (once at the soho location and once on melrose in LA) only said that an item was received but that was all. It may be essential to include details such as a photo of the item, and some details such as designer, size, rough estimate of condition. Even though not all items will be accepted for consignment, a person dropping off some of their prized designer merch will want some form of account of it, this way there will be no discrepancies later on if there was a mistake made. This was just a small observation and does not represent my overall impression of the experience, which is generally quite thorough. I hope that this was useful
Hi Misha, we so appreciate you sharing this feedback with us and we'll absolutely pass it along to our team for consideration. Please reach out to us at [email protected] if there is anything we're able to help with.
Tout ce que j'ai vécu avec le vrai service client concernant les questions concernant ma commande, l'expédition, les douanes et la livraison, le site Web est très simple, mais je n'ai pas reçu de certificats de vérification de produit avec mon dernier achat.
I sent a request to them for help with a transaction. I could not get my order to go through no matter how many (valid) forms of payment I tried. I even tried a cash app with about 10 times the order amount available. It was a large order, and I REALLY wanted the items, otherwise I would have just moved on to another site never looking back. I reached out for help to the email address provided on the website and
I received an auto-reply saying that I would get a response within 48 hours. After 3 days, I sent a follow up asking for the status to my request. No reply to that either. I have (ironically) received 2 separate requests, from 2 different companies (yours included) requesting a rating of my experience. What is going on with the REALREAL? Is this a joke?
Just received a Tod's circa 2000 tote bag that I could immediately tell was a fake. Not leather and with a Made in China tag. Tod's bags are leather bags made in Italy.
Hi Kevina, we make every effort to accurately authenticate the items we receive. If there’s a question about the authenticity of an item purchased from The RealReal, we will always work with our customers to make things right. Please reach out to our team at [email protected] so we can help right away.
I love The Real Real but shipping could improve. Having the option to pick up your package at a ups location would be more aligned with company's sustainability efforts and would help customers who live in cities where package theft is a problem.
Thank you so much for sharing this feedback with us, Ana. We'll pass your note along to our team for further consideration.
They never answer, never return calls. Sent shoes with dog poo on them. I know another place that cleans, irons and steams clothing before they sell them. I always do that before I even send anything in but seems like no one else does. Items are consistently dirty. Commission is too low.
Hi J N, thank you for sharing this feedback with us and we're so sorry to hear your shoes arrived to you dirty. We'd like to look into this further -- Please DM us on social media with your order details so we can help.
I could go on and on about this company. I hope enough people read this to know not to work with them. They have stolen multiple pieces of jewelry from me that they said we're going to be returned, I have not been even though it said they were delivered, and no matter how many times I have reached out, all I get is the runaround. They also stole a Russian Sable Mink Fur coat from me that I have asked for back many times to no avail. The worst part about them is that, I consigned some clothing of my husband's whom recently passed away with them, not only did they steal some of those clothes too, but, I specifically asked them on a few items to consult with me the price points before listing as I was still sentimental about them. To my dismay, I woke up the next day, they were listed and had already been sold. I was told there was nothing they could do. They have not only stolen physical objects from me, but they have stolen memories that I cherished, and my dignity. Don't ever work with these people. The first account manager I worked with was a disgrace. When I reached out to customer service to report sexual-harassment from him, again, no response. Please be careful with these people they are nothing but frauds, thieves, and cheats.
I received a broken necklace, it was poorly packed and the chain snapped during shipping. The cost was over $400 and they have not refunded it, even though I returned it tags attached. Its not my first time with damaged goods from this company, but its the first time they will not refund me and I need to go to the credit card company to make a claim.
We're so sorry to hear you received your order in that condition, Ali. Please reach out to our team on social media with your order details so we can help resolve this.
Descriptions are about 90% accurate so inform me as a buyer.
Great site, great deals. A few items:
1. The UX could be upgraded, and so could the filtering options.
2. They could take better pictures.
3. Shipping needs to be upgraded (should be free both ways).
But in general, good product and good experience.
Thank you for sharing this feedback with us, Laura. Please reach out to our team if there is anything we're able to help with.
Does not stand behind their handling assigned fine china
I purchased three sweaters, and it took about 2 weeks to receive all of them. I liked two of them but wanted to return the third, however, by the time I made the decision (maybe 3 days later, I didn't open the package right away), the return window had already closed. I'll still buy things from TRR, but I'll make sure I really like them before I purchase.
THIS SITE HAS BECOME ADDICTIVE. HAVING SHOPPED THESE BRANDS IN RETAIL FOR YEARS TO SEE THESE PRICES. I TTOOK OFF MOST OF MY MENOPAUSE WEIGHT, GAVE AWAY LOADS OF DESGNER CLOTHES. THIS SITE HAS HELPED ME REVAMP MY CLOSET WITH CLOTHES THAT FIT
We're so happy we were able to help you build your new closet, Janet!
Answer: Do not buy from them! Their return/refund policy is skewed to their benefit. In my case, I bought a Louis Vuitton bag and when it was received it was not in the condition advertised or the photos did not highlight the real wear of the bag and they refused to make a refund or credit. It's their lost because I have since bought many bags on Ebay which offers guarantee of refund should item be faulty or misrepresented. Also, on Ebay you can judge by seller feedback whether the seller is reputable and PRICES are so much less than on the REAL REAL. Their name should be changed to the REAL GREED!
Answer: Hi Samantha. The RealReal does sometimes ask for additional information from customers for a one time security check. Most times, this is for new customers who have never shopped with us before, orders with vastly different billing and shipping information, or are international customers with unverified credit cards. We will ask for some sensitive and personal information for the purposes of verifying the identity of the purchaser but we will not ask for a Social Security Number. Was your father attempting to complete his purchase via Affirm? Affirm is a third party company we work with that offers financing on purchases. If your father was attempting to complete a purchase via Affirm, they do require a SSN for a soft credit check for the loan approval and repayment options. As Affirm is a third party, we do not have access to any of that information so it is secure with Affirm. Of course, no one is required to use Affirm for check out, rather it's just another payment option we offer. Please feel free to reach out to us if this does not answer your questions or if you feel that the explanations provided were not applicable to your situation. You can reach out to our Customer Service Department at (855) 435 5893 from 8am to 5pm (PST). If you would like to speak to a supervisor directly, please feel free to ask for Caitlin from our NJ office. She is available from 9am to 6pm (EST) and of course you can reach us via email at: [email protected].
Answer: If you like to be frustrated, disappointed and want to take a few years off your life, then yes consign with the real real.
Answer: I do NOT recommend selling through TRR. Read all seller reviews. This a speed selling co trying to cash in on a quick commission. The prices they assign are RIDICULOULOUS at best. They are not there to get you a good price but a fast buck for themselves. They priced a brand new prada bag with a label on at $625. Minus 20% permanent discount, 60% of that, I receive a whopping $312. After 10 days wait of processing and seeing the prices assigned I pulled my items. I was shocked and even more upset. I rather give the cloths to charity or sell them myself. I think it is insiders who buy the best items at dirt cheap prices they assign themselves. As a buyer just today I receive a wrong item. They were going to research the problem and find the item I purchased, a coat. They sent me a dirty silk top... This is after waiting for 10 days to get the wrong item. This co is just very bad. Customer service is spotty. Some reps are just dreadful. They sound like this is a summer gig and they got no training, you can never speak to a supervisor, none is ever available, Read the reviews and decide if you still want to use this co. If you do, you will be disappointed,
Answer: Hello, We are sorry to hear of your concerns. If you can please send us your order number or email address we will happily research this further.
Answer: Hi Frank, Thank you for reaching out. We apologize you have seen more negative than positive reviews. We would be pleased to advise you on our consignment process and share a little more insight about the RealReal.
Answer: I don't work for The Real Real I am just a satisfied customer, very satisfied! I see all the complaints, and just shake my head. Knowing how people can be, and also knowing the complainers are the ones who write letters, I can only assume they are "out of touch with reality", or POSSIBLY are competitors who are just being difficult to try and hurt the site. Remember, anyone can write anything, that does not mean it is true, nor are ALL the facts being presented! As for me, I am willing to show, and prove who I am, and the great products and service I received.
Answer: This happened to me only one time, and I have sold quite a few items with them. As soon as I received the quote for a pair of earrings. I contacted them immediately and said I felt the price was to low due to various reasons, and they got back to me the next day with an adjusted price. I have never experienced what you are describing above as a bait and switch scenario, and I always check the similar or same items they are selling. I would just call them and ask for the details as to why the other item is higher. Sorry you had a bad experience!
Answer: File a complaint with the US Customs office in your area and your state's attorney general. Also for many types of goods, they will destroy the counterfeit goods and give you a letter stating they have done so. This is ironclad proof for the bank dispute.
Answer: I have returned things with no hassle at all.
