I have used Real Real for over 5 years for selling luxury goods. As of this last year my experience has been TERRIBLE. Do not send anything that does not qualify for Price Review which is over $995.00 and meets brand criteria. You will be sorry.
I can share more proof but don't want my personal information on a review website.
1. Listing a Moncler Twist Collection jacket (runway collection) $1700.00 new retail, that was listed as new retail $685.00 and sale price $585.00 and net to me $384.00 with no chance to review the listing.
There are more but currently I am trying to consign several items (2 Rolexes, 1 IWC watch, one Diamond Versace Watch and one Tiffany Diamond Bezel Atlas watch) They have all been difficult, but the Tiffany is a nightmare. I was able to get it on Price Review but after receiving the Pending Price Review email (has no way to respond to, you can mark "I agree" or go to hell) I spend hours calling, texting and working with Real Real to get a decent listing price. They had two identical watches listed for in the $3,000.00 range. They wanted to list my newer watch in better condition for $2100.00. I agreed on the phone to $2600.00. It never showed on my account. I followed up via text and again they agreed to list for $2600.00. It went live for $2100.00 I just spend another 50 minutes on with a VERY nice representative, but her hands were tied to actually correct the problem. She contacted a supervisor, who sent her to a supervisor who never got back to the rep I was talking to. I am still waiting on this to resolve.
I don't plan on working with them anymore. Fashionphile (through Neiman Marcus) has a program where you submit your item via your account, and they tell you what they are willing to list it for. If you agree you drop it off at their location via Neiman Marcus store location.
I purchased what I thought we authentic Prozenza Schouler boots for $500. So months go by and I purchase another pair at full price at Neiman Marcus. Right way I can tell the difference in the quality. I reach out to customer service. They sent me this long email saying the item is authentic. I send an email back saying I know something is off and everything about the boots are different. I say I would like them re authenticated or I will pay to do so myself. They ask me to have them re authenticated myself. I do so.they come back counterfeit. Now they're saying that I need to send them back to them so they can authenticate it or I could resell them to them.
I'm not happy with my experience with their customer service and how they do not stand behind their product.
Now they are not responding to me.
This company is a scam.
I had a horrible experience. They did not show one of my items correctly and never did anything about it. You can never get a hole of customer service, they just send the same generic email that they're working to get the issue resolved but it never happened. Pricing on items and commission rates are ridiculous. They are not accurate. Pictures show my top as it was listed, and how it was supposed to look. Big difference
Sales contact me if u have stuff to consign, i gave my Hermes mini lindy that i bought for $8000, they took 3 months not list the item, after get prove to listing the next day the bag got sold and i only got $781 back, i contact to them they said the bag got bought from realreal this is what the Money i can get. Then i told to return my bag to me. They said the bag is missing can't not be return, they stole my bag just throw me couple hundred dollars, i will get lawyer get this action, do NOT sell or buy stuff from this company
It is not worth selling your stuff through the real real. I sold a 300+ dollar retail dress - never worn. And they sent me $1.40 check. Because there's a five dollar processing fee for a check. So I will actually wipe my $#*! with that check instead of cashing it. Absolutely absurd sham of a business - do you receive pennies on the dollar for your items. Live and learn, never again, great money for them but not for you!
I have purchased from TRR for several years, and have always been a bit skeptical based on some of the things I've seen on this site. Personally I have had no real issues because I do not go by the site's description of the item, but I scrutinize the photographs to determine if I feel the item is authentic. Unfortunately, oftentimes items (bags in particular) are not authetic and are obvious fakes if you compare the design quality to that of a known genuine bag. My most recent observations are with the shoes on the site. Whoever posts the descriptions and sizes has no clue about designer shoes and International shoe sizes. They simply take the International size on the shoe which is usually stamped as 38 1/2 for example, and drop the 3 and use 8 1/2 as the shoe size. However an International 38 1/2 is actually a US 7. That is a big difference and could be a serious problem for someone. I recently purchased a pair of Ted Baker pumps that were listed as size 7 1/2 but when I received them the tag on the bottom said plainly size US 6.5 (unfortunately that was not visible in the photo). I also noted a beautiful pair of Versace shoes with the Versace logo emblazoned all over them, but the designer was listed as Chloe. All I can say is use caution and your eyes (instead of their descriptions) when shopping TRR.
Very good! The purchase came right by my mother's birthday. We love it, she is so happy with her new present.
Great value considering the low price. And we were happy to know the products are as described. Fast delivery too and I would buy again.
On this page are thieves. I sent a watch to bulgari with some lv boots and it turns out that they never received the watch and they don't want to return it or pay me. I ask them for the video where they open my box and they refuse to show me obviously the staff is stealing things
I asked for my 27 items back and have yet received my Christian Louboutin, 3 pair of Gucci, Prada 2 Pair. They stole my items! Do not use this company. I be wish there was a zero star
I really wanted to love this place but you can tell a lot about a business when you see how they handle their own mistakes. I brought something I had bought the day before back in to exchange or return. One of the staff offered to take it for me, I thought so I wouldn't have to carry the bag. When I was ready to check out I asked to exchange the jacket and he told me it'd already been processed. "What? Where's my $350 refund? "
"It's on the way. "
"Way where?"
"A check has been mailed to your address. "
"What address? No one told me my item was being returned or I wouldn't be receiving a cash return or exchange which is what I told you I was here for."
"I don't know where, we don't even have an address on file for you but I already started the process and it's irreversible."
So even tho I only gave consent for my property to be held it was irreversibly returned and I was denied a cash return. I spent that day and 3 days since trying to get my money back and everyone I speak to says there policy is no cash returns. So they jacked my jacket and refused to return it but they also won't issue me my money back. I had only had if 1 day. How are you gonna irreversibly return something without even telling me when you know I can't get a return? And if you do make this mistake, make the slightest effort to amend it. It can't be half as hard as trying to get you to care.
High quality product delivered in a timely manner. Friendly and helpful staff. Super experience and look forward to future shopping!
The real real used to value customer service and attention to detail but as of late I have found them severely lacking. For example I purchased a Louis Vuitton handbag which said it was in very good condition. When received it was moldy and smelled extremely bad. I called the company And their excuse was oh it must've just been sitting in the warehouse and became musty. Well that does not give me a great feeling when purchasing a bag especially at the extreme amounts of money that they charge. Next I had been looking to purchase a Louis Vuitton on the go bag. This I should've bought at the store knowing my past experience. They ship the bag in a box smaller than the bag and caused creasing. When I called them they said they review the tape and it was shipped properly you can deal with the creasing by trying to stretch it. When you pay that amount of money as I did for this bag you don't want to hear somebody say we're not at fault even though we shipped it in a smaller box and just stretch it and all the creases should come out. Especially when it was listed in excellent condition. I will never purchase from them again!
I had sent in a bunch of collector barbie dolls, they changed there system and all of a sudden nothing sold. I requested some of my dolls back and they sent them in a box, unwrapped, no paper to stop them from being smashed around. So as any collector knows the value of a Barbie is garbage without a perfect box.
I then requested the other Barbie's back because I didn't like them always changing the rules on commission amounts (but that's another story) and they sent at least 40 Barbie's back in a 3 X 3 foot box again with nothing to keep them in place so they were all smashed around and it ruined the boxes.
Well they are supposed to be insured but they are giving me the run around and won't settle with payment for the items that are ruined.
Now they want pictures of the dolls themselves. The dolls are not damaged the boxes are, so they are playing games. If they know anything about collectibles they would know the box is everything.
They also threw away the boxes that some of them came in, which also is a higher selling point.
They originally told me once I sell 10,000 worth of Barbie's which I did I'll be on 80% commission which is what collectibles make, but changed it after my dolls were sent in.
My rep who saw how they sent both batches of dolls to me was trying to get them to take care of the damage they caused, so they fired him.
This company also ripped my daughter off on her high end pocketbooks.
BEWARE.
Also they super low ball your prices so they sell right away but on any other sight you can get a lot more for your product. Ex. They put one up for $250 Amazon had it for 697. That's a huge difference.
So be careful if you consign with them, they do not honor their own policies.
The pictures below is to show you some damage, but they are all like that.
They have grown to the point were authenticity is no longer true. And forget about customer service. The telephone line doesn't answer. Emails get you nowhere as do Chats. I've been waiting a month for a refund on an obvious fake and still haven't received anything. The frustration in repeatedly reaching out through email and chat only to get nowhere is not worth it. Save your tile and money.
Don't get carried away with sending your stuff to TRR. First box, no issues, other than the site slashing prices PLUS allowing Buyers to use -20%. Sometimes you're left with a measly $10 commission.
Right after they received my first box. They were soo pushy to get more stuff from me. So I gave in and sent them another box with PRICIER items. That was back in mid-August and let's just say the box never made it there.
Other than wanting your items, they are slow and vague with their responses. I went back and forth with UPS/TRR inquiring about who would compensate me for the lost box of a dozens designer items. After UPS cancelled my claim, I found out that it's TRR who has to determine the amount for my payout.
Each and every time I call, I'm on hold for ever, and the reps I deal with are anything but professional. In fact, the last one told me that my issue would be resolved in "24-48hrs"... it's been 2 weeks now and still no movement.
The way they deal with you if there's an issue is not transparent at all. They just try to push you off. When I ask to speak to a manager, the reps, who clearly WFH quickly say, "they're in a meeting". Isn't that convenient? They said that they would request that someone call me back and NOTHING. Lies, lies, and more lies.
I get that things get lost - ahem, most likely stolen by UPS - but as the company who paid for the shipping/insurance, please STEP UP. TRR most likely already got the insurance payout from UPS, so address your consignee in a respectful timely manner.
Trust me, I would not be writing such a negative review if they had just dealt with this head on as opposed to ignoring the issue!
I was given a $200 credit for purchasing a bag which a promo they had for purchasing a bag. A store credit is a store credit and was given 5 days to shop.
Also, sone measurements are not detail on sizes, then you have to pay shipping the item to your home and charge $12 to mail it back. Which is not fair since description is not right. Wish they can send more pictures of the items… instead of just 3.
The recent two items which were sent to me the wrong size and because I had death in the family I was not able to return them on time. I would have kept them if the person who packed the items checked the sizes. I paid shipping and duty on top of the prices and now I am stuck. I won't be shopping from you for a while.
Les prix sont très compétitifs et parfois meilleurs que ceux des autres discounters. Une expérience formidable dans tous les domaines. Je vous remercie.
Item arrived damaged again!
Not as described, measurements were not accurate at all and listing had one picture only! Waste of time to return, customer service is poor to non-existent... TOO MANY discrepancies!
Authenticity questionable.
Answer: Do not buy from them! Their return/refund policy is skewed to their benefit. In my case, I bought a Louis Vuitton bag and when it was received it was not in the condition advertised or the photos did not highlight the real wear of the bag and they refused to make a refund or credit. It's their lost because I have since bought many bags on Ebay which offers guarantee of refund should item be faulty or misrepresented. Also, on Ebay you can judge by seller feedback whether the seller is reputable and PRICES are so much less than on the REAL REAL. Their name should be changed to the REAL GREED!
Answer: Hi Samantha. The RealReal does sometimes ask for additional information from customers for a one time security check. Most times, this is for new customers who have never shopped with us before, orders with vastly different billing and shipping information, or are international customers with unverified credit cards. We will ask for some sensitive and personal information for the purposes of verifying the identity of the purchaser but we will not ask for a Social Security Number. Was your father attempting to complete his purchase via Affirm? Affirm is a third party company we work with that offers financing on purchases. If your father was attempting to complete a purchase via Affirm, they do require a SSN for a soft credit check for the loan approval and repayment options. As Affirm is a third party, we do not have access to any of that information so it is secure with Affirm. Of course, no one is required to use Affirm for check out, rather it's just another payment option we offer. Please feel free to reach out to us if this does not answer your questions or if you feel that the explanations provided were not applicable to your situation. You can reach out to our Customer Service Department at (855) 435 5893 from 8am to 5pm (PST). If you would like to speak to a supervisor directly, please feel free to ask for Caitlin from our NJ office. Answer: If you like to be frustrated, disappointed and want to take a few years off your life, then yes consign with the real real.
Answer: I do NOT recommend selling through TRR. Read all seller reviews. This a speed selling co trying to cash in on a quick commission. The prices they assign are RIDICULOULOUS at best. They are not there to get you a good price but a fast buck for themselves. They priced a brand new prada bag with a label on at $625. Minus 20% permanent discount, 60% of that, I receive a whopping $312. After 10 days wait of processing and seeing the prices assigned I pulled my items. I was shocked and even more upset. I rather give the cloths to charity or sell them myself. I think it is insiders who buy the best items at dirt cheap prices they assign themselves. As a buyer just today I receive a wrong item. They were going to research the problem and find the item I purchased, a coat. They sent me a dirty silk top... This is after waiting for 10 days to get the wrong item. This co is just very bad. Customer service is spotty. Some reps are just dreadful. They sound like this is a summer gig and they got no training, you can never speak to a supervisor, none is ever available, Read the reviews and decide if you still want to use this co. If you do, you will be disappointed,
Answer: Hello, We are sorry to hear of your concerns. If you can please send us your order number or email address we will happily research this further.
Answer: Hi Frank, Thank you for reaching out. We apologize you have seen more negative than positive reviews. We would be pleased to advise you on our consignment process and share a little more insight about the RealReal.
Answer: I don't work for The Real Real I am just a satisfied customer, very satisfied! I see all the complaints, and just shake my head. Knowing how people can be, and also knowing the complainers are the ones who write letters, I can only assume they are "out of touch with reality", or POSSIBLY are competitors who are just being difficult to try and hurt the site. Remember, anyone can write anything, that does not mean it is true, nor are ALL the facts being presented! As for me, I am willing to show, and prove who I am, and the great products and service I received.
Answer: This happened to me only one time, and I have sold quite a few items with them. As soon as I received the quote for a pair of earrings. I contacted them immediately and said I felt the price was to low due to various reasons, and they got back to me the next day with an adjusted price. I have never experienced what you are describing above as a bait and switch scenario, and I always check the similar or same items they are selling. I would just call them and ask for the details as to why the other item is higher. Sorry you had a bad experience!
Answer: File a complaint with the US Customs office in your area and your state's attorney general. Also for many types of goods, they will destroy the counterfeit goods and give you a letter stating they have done so. This is ironclad proof for the bank dispute.
Answer: I have returned things with no hassle at all.
