I purchased a Perfect Moment ski jacket in the TRR store. It was $135 over what a new jacket costs on the Perfect Moment website. I called to get ask about a price adjustment and the authentication process, they offered me $75 as compensation. Poor customer service and a scam!
HORRIBLE! I've sold with TheRealReal once, & purchased once. Both were BAD experiences! When you send them something to sell, they are supposed to get back to you and ask if you're OK with the specific "offer" so you can confirm and agree. If you don't agree, they are supposed to send your item back to you. They NEVER asked me, they simply SOLD my brand new Louboutin $1000 heels to the lowest bidder & told me AFTER! They never made it up to me in anyway. Just excuses. And, a couple days ago, I made a purchase with them, thinking it would be fine this time. I purchased a Gucci headband and a Gucci tag wasn't threaded & falling off. So instead of returning my money and the item back to its owner, they simply asked me to return to the owner, and they took $50 of mine! Any other site that sends a bogus item, always does a full refund. I'm so sick of this site, crooks! Shot elsewhere!
The worst place to deal with ever! Second time in a row they lost all my items that one of their reps actually picked up. Can't get anyone to call me back. Do yourself a favor and stay away from them especially if you are a consigner
They first quote u high price and then sell ur items so cheap with 20% commission! And they put sale on ur items as soon as its live! This is stealing money! I have been an old client to consign and now I don't like them anymore! Very angry!
I purchased a Mongram Danube (LV) and on the site, the bag was listed as 'very good' with only 'Heavy patina at trim; minor blemish at front' listed as the only issues. Upon receiving the bag, the entire inside of the front pocket is melting! The side handles that hold the shoulder strap are also ripping. I realistically could not wear the bag due to the ripping which can happen any day. Something as heavy as a phone will do the job in assisting the rip to happen. Reaching out to customer service was a joke! I provided my pictures as well as their pictures and description on the website… they sent a return label to my email and told me to send the bag back for a re assessment and I'd receive a refund from there…. Why not do an assessment before you list the back on the site?! It's completely false advertising. I was offered a $15 site credit to keep the bag… they don't care about the quality of what they are posting, they only care for you to buy it. So disappointed.
Customer Satisfaction! The store does a great job with providing customer service. On the only occasion I was not satisfied with my order, they fixed the issue quickly. The quality of their work is great and I have recommended them to many other people.
Great company and products! Great customer service, great prices and they stand behind their products. Trust this store for all your needs, you won't be disappointed.
On 11/1/22 A TRR rep came to my home and took several clothing and footwear items. Weeks later I looked at my account to see that some items were rejected and were being sent back. One of those items was a pair of expensive CHANEL flats that I had just purchased from TRR but they were too small. I sent them back to consign but they rejected the very shoes they had just sold me! Not only that, but I never received back the 4 pairs of designer shoes I sent to them. TRR has stolen from me!
Long term Customer! I'm always amazed at how easy it is to find items I'm looking for, purchase them, and get them delivered in short order!
I have bought from them for many years, referred many friends/ family/ work associates to their site for both buying & selling. Sadly after the last year especially o have had several issues, from fakes to an item I loved but had concerns so sent it to them for authenticity verification. They then charged me for shipping then instead of returning it, which is policy, they RELISTED it. So I had to buy it back at additional cost. The last 2 orders of 4 items, 2 had broken hardware (how could their Q&A miss this unless they never actually liked at the items closely) and one had a lot more damage to the larger than in pictures or description, and one was totally a Fake. Other orders have come extremely filthy, internally dirty and once clean more extensive damage found. But it was a "non-returnable" item so I cleaned it up and am still repairing it. The last Chsnrl came broken, again listed as great visiting with no mention of the broken logo. So having to sent it off to Leather Surgeons to get it repaired. Aside have had to do almost every Channel bought from them. This is the last one, I have better sources.
Buy with caution, check EVERYTHING immediately.
Nothing but good things to say, Amazing customer service and quality! I've ordered from these guys about 4 times now and I've been nothing but absolutely pleased with the products themselves, which go on sale for very good prices very frequently.
I ordered a pair of shoes from The RealReal on August 10,2022. I believed I was ordering a womens size, but they turned out to be a mens size (they were not labeled correctly on the website) and therefore did not fit, so I returned them on August 19. I paid $91.04 for the shoes including tax and shipping and I paid $12.25 to ship them back. No packing slip or instructions were included in the original package so I got an RMA number from them and shipped the shoes back to the address on their website. According to the tracking number, the package was received in their warehouse on August 22. It has been over three months and I have not received a refund. I have been going back and forth with "customer service" for months now and have had no solution. They claim to not have received the shoes even though I have a tracking number as proof that they were delivered. There is no phone number to call which is a huge red flag. I have done a live chat as well and with both that and the email exchanges no one has ever answered any of my questions or even explained the situation, all they do is tell me to wait longer. I repeat, it's been over 3 (three) months now. I've lost hope that I will ever get my money back.
The RealReal is a scam, do NOT do business with them.
This has been a horrible experience, I have wasted so much time and energy trying to get my money back to no avail. Customer service replies as if they didn't even read what I wrote, are not taking it seriously, and then they just dropped me and never responded again. The person I chatted with promised to follow up via email but never did and they also kept telling me to "not worry" which I found very condescending.
This is a new era scam, operating without the need of physical items, just an idea. The idea of you can use their platform to sell your items and they will promote it for you so you don't need to worry about anything. Since they did not paid a penny for the items, they don't give a f* about how much they will sell you items for. Because at the end, they will get paid, with a 55%! Minimum commission. If you sell enough on TRR, they will lower it, but who will sell through them when they found out that their items are being sold lower than offered? I had three items sold through TRR, one brand new and two in excellent condition. All with their original packaging and tags. And I am getting paid 1/4 and 1/3 of the price offered, and they even put my items on sale with 40% sale! Like are you serious? I didn't even approve this. I am getting dinner money back from a previously adored and only worn a few time items, that cost 500+. I should've just left it home to collect dust, or even wear it to hiking and destroy it better than selling through TRR. At least I am not pissed at the end.
I was a very happy buyer for many, many years. But over the last 5 years the entire experience has plummeted as TRR has become too large for it's own good. Descriptions that aren't accurate to condition, or lack important information; jewelry that has fallen apart immediately; shoes that were mis-sized and/or actually for men; listings with no clothing measurements many times; and prices that have just gone up and up. Shipping has been slower and slower too. Honestly, it was great at first and now it seems like they got super greedy. They started taking tons of product/repeats of the same items, but many in inferior condition. And for this inferior product, the prices were raised. And from the consignor aspect it's even worse. They took a ton of my designer items, from my home - they looked at them and chose them. The rep wouldn't give me a written record of what they were taking to consign - big red flag. When I finally looked at my sales, this just angers me beyond belief. They stole many of my items. Suddenly there were like 10 or 15 items being sent back to me due to stains?!?! The rep looked at them thoroughly and chose them! And they were not stained. And not just that, they never sent them back. Never. The items they did sell, the amount I received was a pittance. Ridiculous. What a disappointment.
I'm a consignor for years and I have changed luxury managers often and this new manager that doesn't give effort to her job, so I requested for a different manager and her supervisor, Emma has been contacted accdg to TRR. I don't want these people to get commission from my items at all for the no effort. I contacted TRR, 8 times and I have been promised of a new manager within 24 hours 3 1/2 weeks ago. I guess they tolerate this behavior and I wish their company to ho downhill. I told my friends and family so they patronize the company by selling and buying. I guess, I will lobby for them NOT TO GIVE THIS COMPANY ANY BUSINESS. CONSUMERS, stay away from this company. Let us teach them a lesson of doing good business with their buyers and sellers. In reality, we are the essence of their company. They make profit out of us. If we don't have goods to sell for them, people will not buy from them! I hope they go bankrupt! They wouldn't give me a supervisor's name to reach out to.
First timer purchased a LV bag that stated very good condition.I received the bag and it was torn on the inside, not noted in description. First they said no refund then I spoke with supervisor and emailed pictures of the bag. Agreed and said to return the bag for full refund. I contacted them by email requesting timeframe to receive refund. They responded back they are authenticating the handbag. That was in 10/26/22, just shy of 4 weeks! Had to file dispute with PayPal. Buyer Beware
I had a brand new, never worn high end designer leather coat that still had all the tags on it including the price tag. I brought it into a physical "real real" hotel drop off. It was photographed, authenticated etc.
The price tag showed $8750. It was "sold" three days after it went live on the site and sold for 98% less than the price tag.
NINETY EIGHT PERCENT less than the retail price.
I would have made a better return to donate it to goodwill and taken the tax write off.
It used to be such an amazing company but with time it got some issue. I usually don't write battery views, but I couldn't be quiet after they have lost my dear or peace. They pick up my items and some of them they decided to return. They shipped them in the box and the box arrived. Empty. There was nothing in the box except the real real slip. Most likely the item wasn't put inside the box, or was stolen but some of their team members. When I contacted the customer care service, I was told multiple times that the box was delivered because he contracted on their tracking system but they were nothing they could do about the missing item because the box was delivered. Would you trust you're close to this company?
Item was shipped promptly and received in condition as described. Great service. Great quality. All in all everything was great!
Very good buying experience, consultation was precise and on point, orders came in as described and chosen without any major issues.
Answer: Do not buy from them! Their return/refund policy is skewed to their benefit. In my case, I bought a Louis Vuitton bag and when it was received it was not in the condition advertised or the photos did not highlight the real wear of the bag and they refused to make a refund or credit. It's their lost because I have since bought many bags on Ebay which offers guarantee of refund should item be faulty or misrepresented. Also, on Ebay you can judge by seller feedback whether the seller is reputable and PRICES are so much less than on the REAL REAL. Their name should be changed to the REAL GREED!
Answer: Hi Samantha. The RealReal does sometimes ask for additional information from customers for a one time security check. Most times, this is for new customers who have never shopped with us before, orders with vastly different billing and shipping information, or are international customers with unverified credit cards. We will ask for some sensitive and personal information for the purposes of verifying the identity of the purchaser but we will not ask for a Social Security Number. Was your father attempting to complete his purchase via Affirm? Affirm is a third party company we work with that offers financing on purchases. If your father was attempting to complete a purchase via Affirm, they do require a SSN for a soft credit check for the loan approval and repayment options. As Affirm is a third party, we do not have access to any of that information so it is secure with Affirm. Of course, no one is required to use Affirm for check out, rather it's just another payment option we offer. Please feel free to reach out to us if this does not answer your questions or if you feel that the explanations provided were not applicable to your situation. You can reach out to our Customer Service Department at (855) 435 5893 from 8am to 5pm (PST). If you would like to speak to a supervisor directly, please feel free to ask for Caitlin from our NJ office. Answer: If you like to be frustrated, disappointed and want to take a few years off your life, then yes consign with the real real.
Answer: I do NOT recommend selling through TRR. Read all seller reviews. This a speed selling co trying to cash in on a quick commission. The prices they assign are RIDICULOULOUS at best. They are not there to get you a good price but a fast buck for themselves. They priced a brand new prada bag with a label on at $625. Minus 20% permanent discount, 60% of that, I receive a whopping $312. After 10 days wait of processing and seeing the prices assigned I pulled my items. I was shocked and even more upset. I rather give the cloths to charity or sell them myself. I think it is insiders who buy the best items at dirt cheap prices they assign themselves. As a buyer just today I receive a wrong item. They were going to research the problem and find the item I purchased, a coat. They sent me a dirty silk top... This is after waiting for 10 days to get the wrong item. This co is just very bad. Customer service is spotty. Some reps are just dreadful. They sound like this is a summer gig and they got no training, you can never speak to a supervisor, none is ever available, Read the reviews and decide if you still want to use this co. If you do, you will be disappointed,
Answer: Hello, We are sorry to hear of your concerns. If you can please send us your order number or email address we will happily research this further.
Answer: Hi Frank, Thank you for reaching out. We apologize you have seen more negative than positive reviews. We would be pleased to advise you on our consignment process and share a little more insight about the RealReal.
Answer: I don't work for The Real Real I am just a satisfied customer, very satisfied! I see all the complaints, and just shake my head. Knowing how people can be, and also knowing the complainers are the ones who write letters, I can only assume they are "out of touch with reality", or POSSIBLY are competitors who are just being difficult to try and hurt the site. Remember, anyone can write anything, that does not mean it is true, nor are ALL the facts being presented! As for me, I am willing to show, and prove who I am, and the great products and service I received.
Answer: This happened to me only one time, and I have sold quite a few items with them. As soon as I received the quote for a pair of earrings. I contacted them immediately and said I felt the price was to low due to various reasons, and they got back to me the next day with an adjusted price. I have never experienced what you are describing above as a bait and switch scenario, and I always check the similar or same items they are selling. I would just call them and ask for the details as to why the other item is higher. Sorry you had a bad experience!
Answer: File a complaint with the US Customs office in your area and your state's attorney general. Also for many types of goods, they will destroy the counterfeit goods and give you a letter stating they have done so. This is ironclad proof for the bank dispute.
Answer: I have returned things with no hassle at all.
