WOW ARE THEY MESSED UP.
They sold me a fake and when I returned it they didn't want to accept the return because they claimed it's a fake! How crz is that?
Don't sell through them. Fees to consign are INSANELY high, you end up with almost nothing. Their grading system is subpar too: sent a pair of shoes that were LITERALLY worn once and still looked new. They graded fair, inline with other shoes on their site that had major stress lines, cracks and heavy sole wear. As a buyer, their prices are pretty high too.
They don't honor pricing requests. Rather than bunch sets together, they price under $100 to ensure virtually no commission to seller. Customer service is NOT good.
I've sold multiple items on their platform and was happy with their service. Granted, their fees are pretty stiff, I was happy to pay it for somebody else taking care of the listing/selling process. Unfortunately, I purchased an item from them that I knew was fake once I received it. I own about 100 pieces (and have owned probably 200) from the same designer. While they did refund me for the price of the item, I had to pay the return shipping. So, basically, I (un) authenticated their item for them AND paid for it. What makes me more upset is that I talked to somebody who bought the same item, returned it, and was refunded for their shipping. TRR's $15 gaffe is costing them a lot more in business from me and everyone I've told about this incident. Needless to say, I don't use them to buy or sell anymore.
This company is a rip. Bought a pair of shoes off this site, they didn't fit and I missed the return window so I attempted to resell them. I paid over $100 for these shoes and when I tried to resell they would not accept them because of the condition they were in? Unacceptable. Another issue is the pricing. I consigned an inexpensive pair of mother jeans and they priced them at $65, I consigned a pair of brand new Moussy Vintage jeans that cost over $300 and they priced them LESS than the mother jeans? Never consigning with this company again.
They continue to send my luxury items to the wrong return address. I have contacted them multiple times and nothing gets done. I will not consign with them again.
This is a better deal for the Real Real than it is for sellers. They deeply discount jewelry without giving you any price reviews. Then, can reduce just like that and you barely make anything. They lost a Neiman Marcus fur and barely wanted to pay me anything for it. You're better off trying to sell yourself to be honest you just don't make that much.
I just now ss a Helmut Lang tank on net a porter that the fake fake got from me in Aug 2021 and sold for $50 at 20 % that is something then don't tell you when they sweet talk you into sending them your stuff the sell for basement barrel prices and there is never not a 20% off sale I HATE them
The service was top notch for the most part, quick and easy to purchase, super fast delivery. Bag was in like new condition, but I feel like it's a knock-off.
Don't sell your designer goods to this sham website it's immediately marked down and expect to get 25% value or less on consigned goods. Items are immediately discounted for quick sale after so many likes up to 50%. This company is only turning quick profits with no care for your designer goods. The photos are whack and quick shot, it's effortless on their part to receive 50% of your items value after significantly discounting and initially pricing to sell quick. Hear my warning it will disappoint.
Great products. Terrible, completely wrong, incomplete description, photos, and sizing. All prints aren't animal prints. They don't have a clue most times what the product is. Ex: ski pants aren't "wide leg pants". They don't know what a cape is. If you get familiar with TRR you'll see at least 30% of items described wrong. And you'll agree they must have teenagers dressing mannequins. Once you place order expect it won't be on time if you get it at all, 50% of the time. Customer service is a joke. They don't care after they get your $$$. Consignment, as soon as they list items the put it on sale or sell it and then say it was on sale. You never get the payment they tell you when you consign.
Great reviews are from newcomers. Get familiar with the site and see how consistently incompetent they are. Too bad cuz the products are great.
Sold a designer skirt with $610 tag still attached. I only received $18! I mean, really? Why do they get to keep most of the sale ($70)? I will probably never consign again. As a buyer, it's fine.
Received items which were purchased under the believe to be in "Excellent" condition with "no visible signs of wear" and it was quite the opposite. My latest and last order with this store are a pair of trousers which were in "Excellent" condition and arrived with a huge hole in the fabric. That this misses someone's quality control and gets the "Excellent" condition to it is an utter riddle to me. Very unhappy with this store. I don't recommend at all.
I wish I could give "minus" rating if I could. I am feeling betrayed and cheated.
Now, I think I was foolish to spend more than $1,800 including tax solely based on the title and the description on the website for a non-refundable item. Disappointed so much after receiving the item – it was not what I expected from the information from the website, I chose the option of "Consign Again". Today, I found out that the very same item was listed at 1/4 of the price I paid with completely different (or correct) title and description. How can we trust the information on the website? Is it liking a gamble?
I sent a few boxes of luxury items. I notice they were listing my items a % of what you can easily sell on other platforms, so I decided to cancel the transactions.
They sent the boxes back, but one was lost in transit. It shows in the tracking number, the shipping company told me the shipper (the Real Real) needs to contact them, it's been since September 2022, and I was never refunded.
Beware, it is not a serious company. You get spams to send your luxury items, but they loose them and don't take responsibility. I lost thousands of dollars because of it.
The site claims that all items "must be clean and wearable. We inspect each item carefully to guarantee quality, authenticity and condition."
My bag arrived and the inside was filthy and still contained a dirty business card, a Costco card (with the original owners name on it), hair, and handwritten notes inside the pockets.
It also has scratches over the back of the bag which was not stated in the description.
Unfortunately because the bag arrived in this state, I will not be shopping at The Real Real again.
After months of emailing, I finally received this email. Let's see what really happens. People, go to any other online second hand site.
By the way- they tried to give me $8 for a $250 dress, u til I complained.
These guys are pure evil.
"Thank you for contacting The RealReal.
I am really sorry it might be due to some technical glitch the commission has not been processed. I deeply apologize on the behalf of our team and your less than stellar experience with us. I will escalate this to my higher management and will make sure this will not be repeated again from our end. "
I have enjoyed TRR for several years as a buyer. I love having access to a few designers in price which I could never afford at original sale price. I have liked that I can return items in most cases if they do not fit or do not suit me. I have found recently about 60% of the items nice to very nice, and about 40% are not really worth keeping...outside of my own errors in choosing. I question the standard set for how to measure pieces and the quality control checks before initial sales more recently. Measurements given on pieces do not always match what the item presents in reality. I was more impressed with quality some years ago. In the last year, I have received a few lovely items, but with moth holes, for example. I received an item I never ordered one time. As a seller, I am probably not going to try to use them much more. The first time I sent back items I had purchased from them and never worn, items which had to be reconsigned rather than returned for a refund, 2 of the 6 items were refused due to 'a hole' in one, and 'a stain in lining' in the other. I found that very disturbing, being that I had never worn the items and I had left them packed in their original bags/boxes until shipping back. Clearly the items were sold to me with the issue and I had not seen it; but when I went to have them resold, the item was suddenly deemed unable to be sold. I spent 1.5 hours trying to get back a little money on one of those items, and it was like pulling teeth to be understood by the online chat people. So, choose carefully, check that you can return for full refund, then purchase. Resale is not the best.
Within hours of contacting them via email to cancel my order (which I had accidentally placed with the wrong size) completely my fault they emailed me back & refunded me all at the same time!
The store in Palo Alto, CA was extremely horrible. I dropped off several bags of items. They were busy and didn't have time to check everything in. I said what ever they didn't want they could donate.
The manager sent me hate filled messages about picking up my clothes that weren't accepted. I told her I couldn't since i live 2 hours away in Pebble Beach CA. I asked her to send what she didn't want back to me or donate the items. She said she couldn't or wouldn't and took my inexperience with the process personally. I will never go that store again.
Answer: Do not buy from them! Their return/refund policy is skewed to their benefit. In my case, I bought a Louis Vuitton bag and when it was received it was not in the condition advertised or the photos did not highlight the real wear of the bag and they refused to make a refund or credit. It's their lost because I have since bought many bags on Ebay which offers guarantee of refund should item be faulty or misrepresented. Also, on Ebay you can judge by seller feedback whether the seller is reputable and PRICES are so much less than on the REAL REAL. Their name should be changed to the REAL GREED!
Answer: Hi Samantha. The RealReal does sometimes ask for additional information from customers for a one time security check. Most times, this is for new customers who have never shopped with us before, orders with vastly different billing and shipping information, or are international customers with unverified credit cards. We will ask for some sensitive and personal information for the purposes of verifying the identity of the purchaser but we will not ask for a Social Security Number. Was your father attempting to complete his purchase via Affirm? Affirm is a third party company we work with that offers financing on purchases. If your father was attempting to complete a purchase via Affirm, they do require a SSN for a soft credit check for the loan approval and repayment options. As Affirm is a third party, we do not have access to any of that information so it is secure with Affirm. Of course, no one is required to use Affirm for check out, rather it's just another payment option we offer. Please feel free to reach out to us if this does not answer your questions or if you feel that the explanations provided were not applicable to your situation. You can reach out to our Customer Service Department at (855) 435 5893 from 8am to 5pm (PST). If you would like to speak to a supervisor directly, please feel free to ask for Caitlin from our NJ office. She is available from 9am to 6pm (EST) and of course you can reach us via email at: [email protected].
Answer: If you like to be frustrated, disappointed and want to take a few years off your life, then yes consign with the real real.
Answer: I do NOT recommend selling through TRR. Read all seller reviews. This a speed selling co trying to cash in on a quick commission. The prices they assign are RIDICULOULOUS at best. They are not there to get you a good price but a fast buck for themselves. They priced a brand new prada bag with a label on at $625. Minus 20% permanent discount, 60% of that, I receive a whopping $312. After 10 days wait of processing and seeing the prices assigned I pulled my items. I was shocked and even more upset. I rather give the cloths to charity or sell them myself. I think it is insiders who buy the best items at dirt cheap prices they assign themselves. As a buyer just today I receive a wrong item. They were going to research the problem and find the item I purchased, a coat. They sent me a dirty silk top... This is after waiting for 10 days to get the wrong item. This co is just very bad. Customer service is spotty. Some reps are just dreadful. They sound like this is a summer gig and they got no training, you can never speak to a supervisor, none is ever available, Read the reviews and decide if you still want to use this co. If you do, you will be disappointed,
Answer: Hello, We are sorry to hear of your concerns. If you can please send us your order number or email address we will happily research this further.
Answer: Hi Frank, Thank you for reaching out. We apologize you have seen more negative than positive reviews. We would be pleased to advise you on our consignment process and share a little more insight about the RealReal.
Answer: I don't work for The Real Real I am just a satisfied customer, very satisfied! I see all the complaints, and just shake my head. Knowing how people can be, and also knowing the complainers are the ones who write letters, I can only assume they are "out of touch with reality", or POSSIBLY are competitors who are just being difficult to try and hurt the site. Remember, anyone can write anything, that does not mean it is true, nor are ALL the facts being presented! As for me, I am willing to show, and prove who I am, and the great products and service I received.
Answer: This happened to me only one time, and I have sold quite a few items with them. As soon as I received the quote for a pair of earrings. I contacted them immediately and said I felt the price was to low due to various reasons, and they got back to me the next day with an adjusted price. I have never experienced what you are describing above as a bait and switch scenario, and I always check the similar or same items they are selling. I would just call them and ask for the details as to why the other item is higher. Sorry you had a bad experience!
Answer: File a complaint with the US Customs office in your area and your state's attorney general. Also for many types of goods, they will destroy the counterfeit goods and give you a letter stating they have done so. This is ironclad proof for the bank dispute.
Answer: I have returned things with no hassle at all.
