I have purchased several designer consignment pieces on TRR, and unfortunately most of them arrived with undisclosed rips, holes, missing embellishments….looking straight up trashy! And often faded far more than their photo lighting shows. For example, they didn't disclose seam splitting for the jacket pictured at all. Make sure everything you buy on there is returnable, if not, fight for your life by disputing with them! I thought this site may be too good to be true and it is.
Terrible. I didn't receive my item and they didn't fully refund me. I ordered something and after 3 weeks it didn't show up. I contacted customer service and they said the item was still on its way. Then I checked the tracking number which DHL said was invalid. They said they would refund me but did not refund the full amount. I sent them screenshots of the different amounts and they refunded me. 8 emails later, I'm out $20, I have no item, and not even a coupon code for the whole run around.
I'm a new customer. Tried the First Look Access to see exclusive inventory but there is no access tab, no tag to indicate what I did pay extra for. Agents could not tell me either. Tried for a month and asked for a refund just a day late, and they refused for service never actually rendered. They told me to look at my profile's badge — like it helps you find the actual First Look accesss and items #…#
I gave them some Louboutin that were at least between 800 and 1000 dollars to sell for me and my commission was only 71 dollars, these people are crooks, horrible,I wouldn't recommend them to my dog!
"I sold an Isaia cashmere shirt and was waiting for an offer to see if I was happy with the price they offered. The shirt was posted online for $45, of which I would keep $9, and it sold within 2 minutes, leaving me with $9. The shirt originally cost $2,800."
I bought a high-end leather handbag, upon receipt and inspection to my surprise it was full of popcorn, not the packing kind the theater kind! It was filthy inside! They did a good job of taking it back immediately but this should have never left their warehouse! I would not buy a handbag from them again!
I started consigning two months ago with The Real Real. The worst experience ever.
Statements made about consigning not held true. Bad customer service.
Items sold so low.discounts applied whenever. I can go on and on.
The most unprofessional business I've experienced.
I am very disappointed in this company. I was hoping the reviews weren't true and unfortunately it does have truth to it. I will not list any additional items with this company. I do not trust and have lost faith. It should not take actually 21 days to list an item and it is still not active. Calling customer service is very unpleasant left a message for a callback 2x and never received one. The owners of this company give the impression they have no concerns for the little people as long as the pockets continue to be filled. May god bless you all and spend your wealth as you see fit. The little people as myself will continue to struggle to make rent and it is truly my error for putting my trust in this company.
I ordered a vintage silver buckle interlocking Gucci belt in a medium. What they sent was a small. I returned it right away and 3 days later I ordered a large. They reboxed the one I retuned and sent it to me. It was the exact belt; the exact size. The gold one is mine which I had for several years and it's a large.
I sent a pair of never-worn new houndstooth wool trousers by Balenciaga to them. When I went to check on my consignment a couple of weeks later, it was marked being returned to me due to "hole". I thought, that's strange, they're new and unworn. They sent them back sliced in multiple places. Not only had I inspected my items before I sent them out, I packed them well, inside tissue and then double tyvec bagged. The only way this could have happened is on-receipt, they used either a box cutter or a scissor blade to open my package. The new pants are destroyed. Even normal wear and tear would not produce these kinds of sharp slices in multiple places. The trousers still have the crisp store knife pleats, that's how unworn they were. Just now with slits everywhere - The Real Real destroyed them so now, no way of selling them anywhere. When I wrote to them, I got an "oh well here's $25 site credit". Let me get this right. You destroyed my $1k item but you want me to spend money with you? WOW. Buyer and consignor beware.
This company has become extremely greedy. What used to be a commission of 50-60 percent for the seller is now 30-45% percent. Once they've sold your item, they'll hold your payment for one month (collecting interest), while they get paid immediately. In addition to this, they'll charge you another $10 to send you YOUR money (what they call a "processing fee"). When all is said and done, TheRealReal earns approximately 80-90 percent of YOUR money. Want to speak with customer service? First you have to call the customer service line that relays your message to another customer service, with a call back of between 24-48 hours. Customers need to stand up for themselves and stop being taken advantage of.
I sent 4 pair of brand new Jordans and 1 pair of Social Status x Penny Hardaways new as well. Sold 2 pair of Jordan's and made $64. I paid well over $100 per pair! I should've given them away for that price! Made a request to get remaing shoes and received without problems. Word to the wise, sell used stuff you don't care about, not brand new Jordans and make $32 per pair!
Even through there were lot of not so great review, I'm very happy with my purchase, great condition and correct description of impurities. I got it entrupy authentication and it was authentic plus it came with all the original packaging. Overall very happy with my first purchase from Real Real Canada.
I have been a consigner for several years. There have been many issues, but at least the payout was reasonable, once you fought you way through the incorrect description, low pricing, lost items, etc.
Not any more! I did not consign for several months, due to personal issues. I am finding out, 70% payout is now for items starting at $700. Anything bellow that is 45% payout. And TRR pays VIP customers a 5% VIP amount at month end. So TRR takes away hundreds of $s away in payout and they give you, what they make look like, a 5% VIP extra pay? It took 2 month to list an item. The photo TRR took had to be retaken.
I sent them a picture of the item, it took them 5 weeks to redo. Of course the skirt sold immediately. A $500 skirt, priced at $210 with an immediate 20% off. $76 commission for me for a brand new skirt!
TRR please do not think people are stupid and they cannot count. TRR is getting worst each month. This new payout policy is really insulting.
I purchased a "Tiffany" "sterling silver" necklace from the "Real Real". After receipt, I immediately expressed my concerns about the markings and construction, as I own many authentic items purchased directly from Tiffany. I know what to look for. I was assured it was "authentic". Turned black with all crappy coating rubbed off after 1.5 years. Beware of this bs seller.
THESE IDIOTS separated a limited edition couture John Galliano. They never once contacted me. Their ignorant "professional" have given me every dumb excuse. Unbelievable... WHO DOES THAT?
I let them take 9-10 valuable collectibles that were worth over 10k, weeks later was told they would be graded and sold. Unfortunately the items were "lost" in transit. Was offered a small percentage of the value of items. Do not give them your valuables to sell, There are criminals working inside and will steal your things without repercussion.
Sold a pair of boots on consignment April 8th, Customer requested a return. Its over a month later item has not been returned, money has not been put into my account, and Susie the customer representative was cold, dismissive, impertinent, rude and when I asked for a Manager she said NO. Literally said NO. Beware!
I believe TRR is scamming people. I consigned my Prada bag only for them to return it back to me that there was a tear which till now, I still haven't seen it. I noticed they returned my bag with my authentic Prada card missing. This card has all the bag details and comes inserted with all authentic Prada bags. I have read many reviews where people have had their tags kept by TRR when they returned their items. People have also bought bags with tags in them that don't match the bags they bought. Do the math! They're taking tags and inserting in other bags to make it look authentic. Be careful what you buy. Double check it's authentic! Oh and don't consign with them at all! It's daylight robbery. If you do better discuss price & commission.
Buyer beware: I buy a lot of merchandise here, particularly Michael Kors. Michael Kors is a luxury brand, and their dresses retail over $1k - $2k.
In my last order, 8 of the Michael Kors dresses I ordered ended up being the wrong brand. They were "Michael, Michael Kors" which is an inexpensive mall brand. Those dresses retail < $200. Big difference, and I wouldn't have bought them had they been advertised correctly.
It's as if you ordered Gucci, but received Ann Taylor. Not even close.
When I contacted TRR, they refused a return due to them being final sale. I know they are final sale, but I received items I did not order, and did not receive what I DID order. So they either needed to send me the items I ordered, or refund me. They obviously couldn't do the first, since they falsified the brand, and refused to do the latter until I finally called and got someone who understood.
It still took over an hour of my time talking on chat and phone, packing up the wrong items, printing the return label, and taking the required pictures to show them they sent the wrong items.
They.Do.Not.Care.
Beware. They like to bait and switch brands.
Answer: Do not buy from them! Their return/refund policy is skewed to their benefit. In my case, I bought a Louis Vuitton bag and when it was received it was not in the condition advertised or the photos did not highlight the real wear of the bag and they refused to make a refund or credit. It's their lost because I have since bought many bags on Ebay which offers guarantee of refund should item be faulty or misrepresented. Also, on Ebay you can judge by seller feedback whether the seller is reputable and PRICES are so much less than on the REAL REAL. Their name should be changed to the REAL GREED!
Answer: Hi Samantha. The RealReal does sometimes ask for additional information from customers for a one time security check. Most times, this is for new customers who have never shopped with us before, orders with vastly different billing and shipping information, or are international customers with unverified credit cards. We will ask for some sensitive and personal information for the purposes of verifying the identity of the purchaser but we will not ask for a Social Security Number. Was your father attempting to complete his purchase via Affirm? Affirm is a third party company we work with that offers financing on purchases. If your father was attempting to complete a purchase via Affirm, they do require a SSN for a soft credit check for the loan approval and repayment options. As Affirm is a third party, we do not have access to any of that information so it is secure with Affirm. Of course, no one is required to use Affirm for check out, rather it's just another payment option we offer. Please feel free to reach out to us if this does not answer your questions or if you feel that the explanations provided were not applicable to your situation. You can reach out to our Customer Service Department at (855) 435 5893 from 8am to 5pm (PST). If you would like to speak to a supervisor directly, please feel free to ask for Caitlin from our NJ office. She is available from 9am to 6pm (EST) and of course you can reach us via email at: [email protected].
Answer: If you like to be frustrated, disappointed and want to take a few years off your life, then yes consign with the real real.
Answer: I do NOT recommend selling through TRR. Read all seller reviews. This a speed selling co trying to cash in on a quick commission. The prices they assign are RIDICULOULOUS at best. They are not there to get you a good price but a fast buck for themselves. They priced a brand new prada bag with a label on at $625. Minus 20% permanent discount, 60% of that, I receive a whopping $312. After 10 days wait of processing and seeing the prices assigned I pulled my items. I was shocked and even more upset. I rather give the cloths to charity or sell them myself. I think it is insiders who buy the best items at dirt cheap prices they assign themselves. As a buyer just today I receive a wrong item. They were going to research the problem and find the item I purchased, a coat. They sent me a dirty silk top... This is after waiting for 10 days to get the wrong item. This co is just very bad. Customer service is spotty. Some reps are just dreadful. They sound like this is a summer gig and they got no training, you can never speak to a supervisor, none is ever available, Read the reviews and decide if you still want to use this co. If you do, you will be disappointed,
Answer: Hello, We are sorry to hear of your concerns. If you can please send us your order number or email address we will happily research this further.
Answer: Hi Frank, Thank you for reaching out. We apologize you have seen more negative than positive reviews. We would be pleased to advise you on our consignment process and share a little more insight about the RealReal.
Answer: I don't work for The Real Real I am just a satisfied customer, very satisfied! I see all the complaints, and just shake my head. Knowing how people can be, and also knowing the complainers are the ones who write letters, I can only assume they are "out of touch with reality", or POSSIBLY are competitors who are just being difficult to try and hurt the site. Remember, anyone can write anything, that does not mean it is true, nor are ALL the facts being presented! As for me, I am willing to show, and prove who I am, and the great products and service I received.
Answer: This happened to me only one time, and I have sold quite a few items with them. As soon as I received the quote for a pair of earrings. I contacted them immediately and said I felt the price was to low due to various reasons, and they got back to me the next day with an adjusted price. I have never experienced what you are describing above as a bait and switch scenario, and I always check the similar or same items they are selling. I would just call them and ask for the details as to why the other item is higher. Sorry you had a bad experience!
Answer: File a complaint with the US Customs office in your area and your state's attorney general. Also for many types of goods, they will destroy the counterfeit goods and give you a letter stating they have done so. This is ironclad proof for the bank dispute.
Answer: I have returned things with no hassle at all.
