I purchased a belt that stuck to my jeans like superglue when I tried to take it off. It left a black glue mark around my light blue jeans and my jean fibers all around the belt. I tried explaining to customer support, and they said you could send it back for free (full stop). I asked if they wanted to see photos or do an investigation and they said no.
They said they won't review the case because I wore the product but how would I know there was an issue with it sticking to my jeans if I didn't? Their solution was to just send it back. That means losing your money and the belt and no further investigation. I'm baffled. Either the product wasn't legit, or the belt has been painted with something to make it look newer. I'm speechless.
I bought a Celine bag from TRR, but when I received the bag there was discoloration on the bottom of the bag that hadn't been included in the item's listing pictures. I was surprised that at the very least it hadn't been included in the item's description. I sent the bag back to TRR for consignment after getting an estimate for its value and included pictures of the WHOLE bag including the discoloration that hadn't been shared with me as a buyer. I then received a notice that the bag was rejected after being received and evaluated because it didn't meet their standards. The same standards that allowed them to sell it to me the first time kept them from receiving it for resale? Having seen how items are "vetted" before they are received for consignment and then again when the item arrives at their facility I am confident that the choice not to disclose the damage to the bag was a conscious and deliberate attempt to mislead buyers. I will NEVER buy another item from TRR and after doing additional research into how misleading their estimates are for potential consignment I strongly suggest that anyone looking to buy/sell with TRR consider a different route.
Well, if you want the run around and to pay for something you will never get. Shop on real real! I live in Canada and paid $51 for shipping to Canada. Crazy expensive and I had no tracking. Finally found out that My item is sitting at a sorting facility in Southern Alberta, no where near me - waiting for me to pay customs and pick it up. No tag was left by DHL for me, to notify me customs had to be paid …. Because the package is not in My city? What professional business charges outrageous amount for shipping, then has no clue about clearing packages to Canada. That would be real real! If you want to get ripped off and be told to pay customs cost and you can't because the item did not even come to the city you live in …. Please buy from real real. The customer service was like talking to a wall - just telling me to pay customs over and over!
Disgusted by real real
The RealReal is my go-to place for finding amazing deals on authentic luxury pieces. I've bought and sold with them several times and always had a smooth and satisfying experience. Their customer service is helpful and responsive, and their shipping is fast and secure. I highly recommend The RealReal for anyone who loves high-end fashion.
That Real Real is awesome. I started thrifting and selling in 2012. The expansion of both the company's customer base and the number of consignors it works with are signs of healthy development.
I sent clothes to The Real Real consignment to be sold and they stole over half of them. They said they were not authentic and kept them. I have contacted the company 3 times regarding this and they said they would send my stuff back. The 4th time I contacted them they said they were sorry to inform me that they would not be able to return my stuff unless I provided proof of purchase. I sent them my receipts for the items and they still will not send me my stuff back. They will also not end my listings and send me back the stuff listed. I want all my things back. This is theft.
On the contrary, I was very impressed by The RealReal. It is a great place to shop for high-end, hand-made goods. The website has a great selection of both men's and women's clothing, as well as home décor items.
This store is very good they shipped fast they're representative is very nice and kind and the the things I bought is exactly what in the pictures so what else I can say just try it and you won't disappointed they're the best!thank you TRR
Had a terrible experience selling with TRR. They lost 1/3 of my items, only after multiple emails and 3 months wait time they reimbursed an unfair amount of money for the lost items. Their pricing and their discount system is not fair - they sold a new wool Allsaints coat with a price tag of $500 for $16 without any heads-up. I ended up requesting my items back. I won't be surprised if some of them get lost again as TRR are incompetent. Once I got someone else's package wrongly delivered to me, which I needed up sending back to them. It feels like TRR is a complete mess. Oh and my store credit disappeared from the app.
On the other hand, had hit or miss experience shopping online. I was able to get a great deal on two pairs of shoes in great condition but mind you returning anything is a complete rip off.
I have sent so many items to them to sell for me and they sell almost new items for significantly less than retail. Although I've never been happy with their subjective pricing I have also had them cheat me on several items. Once they receive the items they price them and if you don't like the price you request a return or a review. Twice i have requested items back because of sketchy pricing and they have ignored my return request and sold it for less than acceptable values. Once they offered to waive the discounted commission and another time I had to hire a lawyer. They recently did it a third time and have no shame in making you argue over their theft of your merchandise. Be very cautious doing business with them. If you are selling handbags try Gemma they are just as subjective on pricing but they have had better customer service so far.
I purchased a Gucci purse for over $500.00 and it was dry rotted when I received it in 2019. The canvas part of the bag shredded and tore immediately after I received it. The purse was described to be in very good condition. I contacted The Real Real immediately and was informed that it was a final sale. I cannot recommend this company. Buyer beware.
The description does not have enough or accurate information on the condition of the items. Most of the time the actual condition is much worse than stated on the description, as a result, it is a complete disappointment.
I want to warn other customers about my recent experience with this company. I ordered a cashmere sweater from 360 cashmere that was priced at $60. Unfortunately, the product I received was a cotton sweater from 360 sweater. When I contacted the company to request a return, they demanded that I pay a fee, which I found unreasonable. I attempted to discuss the matter with the company, but received no response. When I finally managed to get in touch through text message, I was informed that the return date had already passed and they would not accept the item.
What's more, the company argued that they did not send the wrong item because the product description stated it was made of 100 percent cotton. However, I distinctly remember that the description initially stated that it was 100 percent cashmere, which unfortunately I did not take a screenshot of.
I found the company to be deceitful and disrespectful in their handling of my case. Even when I showed photographic evidence of the wrong brand, they refused to refund me. I hope this message will serve as a warning to other customers to be careful when dealing with this company.
Measurements off from posted description by 3-4 inches for several items. I selected my currency and was (over)charged in the wrong currency. Customer service had no idea, did not help. Poorly trained staff, incompetence, deception. Had to file a charge complaint with credit card company. Now, I am noticing many many complaints by sellers and buyers. Won't buy again or invest in this company. This can't last as this rate.
They have the worst customer service, my items were sold without giving me a price prior to being sold. My brand new leather fendi jacket sold for $500.00. It was worth 4,000.00. They're in house pricing team did a horrible job pricing my item. Once they realized their mistake they offered me $300 more. It took me 7 weeks to even get a response. They took no-fault and refused to give me what the item is worth.
The commission structure is a disgrace! They keep it all! Believe it. The customer service is very poor. No one to speak to. This company is a disgrace!
I purchased something that was described as being labeled a large but when it arrived it was actually an XS. I was offered a free return label but I also wanted to be compensated for the $50+ international postage I paid to receive the wrong item and was offered $12. Won't be shopping with them again.
My items were picked up at my home on Feb 6th. They took weeks to accept the items, and then once they sold (3/5 and 3/7) they said I would receive payment on 4/15. So they keep your proceeds for over a month. And, they rejected two of my items, and I received one back today (4/4) after emailing them three times, and it is a broken Hermes bangle although it was brand new when it left me and had never been worn. And the other item is lost and they can't provide an update. So, it has now been 2 months and I don't have my proceeds, they lost one item and broke another. DO NOT SELL YOUR ITEMS THROUGH THEM.
I sold a sweater for $65 and got a check for $2.80. You get 20% and then they charged me $10 to issue me a check. What a rip!
I purchased a Louis Vuitton labeled as "very good" condition. The bag literally had several large spots on both sides that looked as though the outer leather was completely worn off. I was so angry and disappointed. I attempted exactly 5 days later (purse remained in the box it was shipped in) to reconsign it with the SAME dumbass site. I was told upon receipt that the bag was in too awful condition to resale. Quite the shocker considering you were ballsy enough to sell it to me. Needless to say my lesson has been learned. Do NOT waste your money!
Answer: Do not buy from them! Their return/refund policy is skewed to their benefit. In my case, I bought a Louis Vuitton bag and when it was received it was not in the condition advertised or the photos did not highlight the real wear of the bag and they refused to make a refund or credit. It's their lost because I have since bought many bags on Ebay which offers guarantee of refund should item be faulty or misrepresented. Also, on Ebay you can judge by seller feedback whether the seller is reputable and PRICES are so much less than on the REAL REAL. Their name should be changed to the REAL GREED!
Answer: Hi Samantha. The RealReal does sometimes ask for additional information from customers for a one time security check. Most times, this is for new customers who have never shopped with us before, orders with vastly different billing and shipping information, or are international customers with unverified credit cards. We will ask for some sensitive and personal information for the purposes of verifying the identity of the purchaser but we will not ask for a Social Security Number. Was your father attempting to complete his purchase via Affirm? Affirm is a third party company we work with that offers financing on purchases. If your father was attempting to complete a purchase via Affirm, they do require a SSN for a soft credit check for the loan approval and repayment options. As Affirm is a third party, we do not have access to any of that information so it is secure with Affirm. Of course, no one is required to use Affirm for check out, rather it's just another payment option we offer. Please feel free to reach out to us if this does not answer your questions or if you feel that the explanations provided were not applicable to your situation. You can reach out to our Customer Service Department at (855) 435 5893 from 8am to 5pm (PST). If you would like to speak to a supervisor directly, please feel free to ask for Caitlin from our NJ office. She is available from 9am to 6pm (EST) and of course you can reach us via email at: [email protected].
Answer: If you like to be frustrated, disappointed and want to take a few years off your life, then yes consign with the real real.
Answer: I do NOT recommend selling through TRR. Read all seller reviews. This a speed selling co trying to cash in on a quick commission. The prices they assign are RIDICULOULOUS at best. They are not there to get you a good price but a fast buck for themselves. They priced a brand new prada bag with a label on at $625. Minus 20% permanent discount, 60% of that, I receive a whopping $312. After 10 days wait of processing and seeing the prices assigned I pulled my items. I was shocked and even more upset. I rather give the cloths to charity or sell them myself. I think it is insiders who buy the best items at dirt cheap prices they assign themselves. As a buyer just today I receive a wrong item. They were going to research the problem and find the item I purchased, a coat. They sent me a dirty silk top... This is after waiting for 10 days to get the wrong item. This co is just very bad. Customer service is spotty. Some reps are just dreadful. They sound like this is a summer gig and they got no training, you can never speak to a supervisor, none is ever available, Read the reviews and decide if you still want to use this co. If you do, you will be disappointed,
Answer: Hello, We are sorry to hear of your concerns. If you can please send us your order number or email address we will happily research this further.
Answer: Hi Frank, Thank you for reaching out. We apologize you have seen more negative than positive reviews. We would be pleased to advise you on our consignment process and share a little more insight about the RealReal.
Answer: I don't work for The Real Real I am just a satisfied customer, very satisfied! I see all the complaints, and just shake my head. Knowing how people can be, and also knowing the complainers are the ones who write letters, I can only assume they are "out of touch with reality", or POSSIBLY are competitors who are just being difficult to try and hurt the site. Remember, anyone can write anything, that does not mean it is true, nor are ALL the facts being presented! As for me, I am willing to show, and prove who I am, and the great products and service I received.
Answer: This happened to me only one time, and I have sold quite a few items with them. As soon as I received the quote for a pair of earrings. I contacted them immediately and said I felt the price was to low due to various reasons, and they got back to me the next day with an adjusted price. I have never experienced what you are describing above as a bait and switch scenario, and I always check the similar or same items they are selling. I would just call them and ask for the details as to why the other item is higher. Sorry you had a bad experience!
Answer: File a complaint with the US Customs office in your area and your state's attorney general. Also for many types of goods, they will destroy the counterfeit goods and give you a letter stating they have done so. This is ironclad proof for the bank dispute.
Answer: I have returned things with no hassle at all.
