I hired a guy to replace the existing door sweep on bottom of the front door. He said the threshold needed to be lowered. After 5 hours of work, I went to inspect and there was a half inch gap on each side of the threshold AND now my $700 screen door is messed up. The screen door has a pull down window with a screen in it, now it won't stay up. He apparently removed it to put the threshold on and didn't ask me for permission then first. When I asked him why the screen wasn't working he said he didn't know and left. He also broke my hose reel, messed up the configuration of the drip system timer and stole the leader hose for the new hose reel before he left. He seemed to be oblivious to the things he broke and couldn't have cared less.

I hired another guy for various tasks. I'll just cut to the chase. He put together a pool cover reel but didn't lock it in so when I went to use it, it fell in the pool. He put together some bedroom furniture and I had him switch out the bed mattress and topper to get the new one set up. He ripped the brand new topper right down the middle about a 4' tear and didn't tell me. He left it for me to find. I got a new phone and needed help putting the screen protetor on. I asked him if he knew how to do it. He said yes. When he was done there was a small bubble on the right side. It has since cracked right where that bubble was. When I asked him why it was like that he said he didn't know and that his was the same way. Oy vey, that might be a clue that he didn't know how to do it at all!
I called out a "contractor" to put locks on my doors throughout the house. He spent 6 hours on one and only damaged the door and broke the new lock, so it then didn't lock at all (door to the garage). The guy was clearly on drugs and I just wanted him out of my house. I finally get him out at midnight. The next night he calls me and says he's left something in my house and needs to come in. I told him "no, it's the middle of the night and whatever you think is here will be here in the morning". He refused and called over and over. He then came over with a group of people, cuty security camera, smashed out the windows of my car, took my car door handles, and tried to break down my front door. He heard me describe them to the police and ran.
I have two damaged doors, and $800 to rewire through the attic/ replace cameras, and my life was threatened. Task rabbit hung up on me every time I called and left the chat every time I contacted them. They make you sue them. They could have just taken the complaint. Don't ever use them. They don't do background checks and they will not even hear you if they cause you harm.
I'm a big fan of "gig" apps like this one, but TaskRabbit fails to deliver on a number of fronts. Most importantly, the Taskers themselves are unreliable. They book jobs and fail to show up. They don't respond to job requests. And, it is almost impossible to follow up or track your jobs. The app developers need to rethink the platform. (May i recommend Rover.com... excellent app and process... TaskRabbit could learn a LOT!) Finally, they need to have a better way to vet their taskers and hold them accountable. If i can't get someone to shovel snow properly, there is no way i'm going to have them do electrical work!
I am Conroe texas, I paid 25.00 to register to become a tasks on 12/22/21 & today is 01/18/22 the company is scam bc to been calling them every week they keep saying is under review at the site says it takes 3-5 Bussiness days.
I don't background check for state and nanny of woodlands agency it took 24 hours.!
Booked cleaning for my kitchen alone, and just for a very small kitchen i got charged 530$, ridiculously expensive and the cleaning was poor quality, never ever will i use task rabbit again.
I hired a handyman through taskrabbit - only to be ripped off.
Taskrabbit charged me 269.43 -
Then the tasker - Daniel - charge me an additional $40 - for a total of $309.43
Plus he stole my antique floor lamp that has been in my family for generations.
Extremely bad - if your thinking of hiring anyone from this company DON'T.
I asked for a tv wall mount and put 3 screens on the window and he told me it's an hour job and charges 65 CAD per hour. I said ok and he came to my home and he was doing his work very very very slowly and intentionally delaying and made the task complete with 3.5 hours and he is asking me to do at 200CAD plus. And he is not feeling guilty and sitting in my home and asking me to pay if not he will not leave the home. In this case how we can handle it? Please suggest and I really feel very bad and painful moment.
Thanks
The tasker that was sent to my home was very unprofessional. At the end of the task he asked to be paid in cash (which I did because I just wanted him gone) and he charged me three times what his profile said he charges per hour. As someone who is living alone for the first time in 30 plus years, I simply wanted the aggressive and unprofessional man out of my home.
He was assembling a sofa and during assembly he tore one of the cushion covers. He threw it on the floor and told me to call IKEA. I did contact IKEA and they said TaskRabbit needed to pay for the replacement. I contacted TaskRabbit about both issues: their tasker requesting cash and the torn cover. They basically said because I paid cash they aren't responsible. It was THEIR tasker that requested cash. This was the first and last time I use their service.

I hired a nice young man to come and help move some items from our yard. His hourly rate seemed totally reasonable. I even overestimate the number of hours I would need him. When you sign up, they do state that there is a site fee (which all sites have). I had no idea that charge was 35% of the amount the guy would be charging. To make things worse, suddenly I get a notice from the guy that he also was charging for his time to drive to our home and back (an extra 1.5 hours) AND that gas it cost him to do this drive.
This website is great in theory - and perhaps good for a simple - 1 hour task. Outside of this, you are WAY better off finding a professional that you can give upfront pricing.
I plan to never use this site again and would advise you caution...

Please be careful before deciding to hire a TaskRabbit! They charge a 35% fee on all services that goes directly to the company, not the Tasker.
They put it in very small print. I would advice people not use them. It ends up costing you way more than actually using a real service.
The "trust and support fee" is outrageously predatory - more than 35% of the service you book. They are extremely misleading in how they get you to agree to it- they show the hourly rate of tasker very obvious and in large print and then in very fine print state this 35.3% fee - so my $272 cleaning job was slapped with a $96 "trust and support fee" for a total of $368- was not expecting this extra $100 charge and could not afford to tip the tasker even though she did an excellent job. Will NEVER use task rabbit again- I'll go through small businesses directly.
I was purchasing some IKEA furniture and was told in-store that the assembly would be provided by task rabbit. I confirmed day and time with the tasker some 7-10 days in advance. On the day of the task I received a message that read the tasker would be unable to complete the job. A day later I was charged with $30 for the no-show. This company is a scam! They don't provide any services and charge people hidden fees. Beware!
A tasker was unable to commit to a time, so cancelled the task. With no work provided, I thought it was the end of the story. No! TaskRabbit charged me under $100 for absolutely nothing. The Tasker was unable to meet me or provide any service.
I am a professional Handyman, logging over 450 handyman jobs completed, each of the past 5 years. For Homeowners and Property Managers. I'm super qualified. I signed up on TaskRabbit, hoping to try it out for close to home local work. I listed my many skills and usual hourly wage that I charge, and get, in my market. It's been 5 weeks and not a single task request. People complain, but they really don't want a professional, they want a dummy to do professional work for peanuts. Pros cost more.
The last three Taskers I've scheduled cancelled on me, two at the last minute. If I cancel in less than 24 hrs, I get charged, but there seems to be no consequences for Taskers.
They have criminals that tell you you did not give them the correct info, then ask for more money! Better off getting a homeless person to help, likely better job and won't try to scam you for more money!
That suck!
I am closing my account. This is no service for a person who has time sensitive needs. I scheduled a task online and the tasker cancels within mins. Task rabbit rescheduled me the next day even though I needed it done I was ok becuase my deadline to move was within a day. However that tasker cancels within mins. Now I am stuck with fees lost time and many other issues. BUT the reschulde and you know what happen that tasker cancels. Pointless heartless. DONT waste your time.
Insane fees. Paid $80 of Trust and Support fees on a $220 task. These fees were never listed anywhere during the booking process, but get added in the end. Will stay away from TaskRabbit from here on.
I tried to hire someone from Taskrabbit to trim our privet hedges. We were even providing all the necessary tools and supplies. Twice in a row the tasker we contact cancelled with less than an hour notice. The company charges you if you cancel in less than 24 hours, but apparently taskers have no requirement to actually show up for their jobs. You can't count on this service
Answer: Mine responded and loved to chat. At the end, he cancelled the appointment. What a waste of time. Very disappointing.
