Contacted for laptop repair. Sent as instructed. Returned without my power cord. Contacted with complaints. Sent unit back a second time. I was told to buy another power cord and submit proof of purchase. The computer was not keeping correct time. I requested that the CMOS battery be changed to correct the problem. Customer service said they could not address the problem.

My experience with the SquareTrade/Allstate protection plan was a complete failure. I sent my PC in for repair and waited about a month. When the device was returned, it was not fixed. New issues, like a "drilling noise," had started, and I discovered they had installed a slower SSD and mismatched RAM during the repair. The customer service experience was terrible. On 10/21, Agent Jason first promised a "$1,799" "full refund". He then immediately retracted his promise, accused me of "not be[ing] honest" and trying to "bait" him. When I questioned this, he refused to transfer me to a supervisor and disconnected the chat. When I sent the device for a second repair, the service center claimed they "found no issue". Agents provided contradictory excuses: first, "no issue found", then "the issue is intermittent" and "not covered", and finally, "no issue found, but you can get it repaired locally". Now, they are shipping my computer back to me unrepaired, claiming it is "fully functional" despite its obvious problems. The repair service failed, and the customer service was misleading and abusive. Avoid this plan.

I would give negative stars if it was an option! I purchased a Bosch dishwasher from Home Depot along with a 5-year protection plan from SquareTrade (Allstate Protection Plans). When the dishwasher failed just over two years later, I filed a claim and followed every step they asked — including three separate technician visits. Each time, the issue was diagnosed as a motherboard failure. But instead of resolving it, SquareTrade kept sending unprogrammed replacement parts, leaving me without a working dishwasher for over six weeks. Then — after the third visit, which triggered their own "No Lemon Policy" (meant to guarantee a replacement after 3 failed repairs) — they suddenly voided my claim due to a technician noting new rodent droppings that were never present during the first two visits. This was clearly a tactic to avoid reimbursing me under the lemon policy. I provided detailed documentation, appealed the denial, and followed up multiple times — no one responded. SquareTrade/Allstate is using irrelevant excuses to deny legitimate claims and is not honoring their own warranty terms. I've now filed complaints with the Better Business Bureau, the California Department of Insurance, and the Department of Consumer Affairs. If you're thinking about buying a protection plan from SquareTrade or Allstate — don't. You'll pay for coverage they have no intention of delivering when it matters.

To fix my refrigerator icemaker i had to follow up with them at least 12-13 times for 2 weeks straight, they were allocating the company which was not serving in my area, causing lot of pain to handle, even telephone operators were not knowledgeable to address the issue.

Deceptive …
June 6, 2025

So, I bought a smart watch from Walmart and, then, insured it via Allstate's SquareTrade and — What a f**king mistake. :/ First, they're all cheerful and appear willing to help. Then, they just want to cash out my claim. I pushed back, requesting a replacement to which they responded positively. Then, they came back and said they would not replace the item and, again, opted to cash out. I, then, said, "No. I want a replacement," to which they, then, replied with three (3) options for replacements. I selected the option that I wanted, and, then, they came back, again, wanting to cash out. Their explanation: The original, non-discounted value of the item I selected — from the list THEY provided — was $159.99 despite the fact that the replacement cost — from the list THEY provided — was currently $22.79. This entire ordeal has been a complete sh** show.

I bought an item on ebay a few days ago. In checking out I saw an offer for a protection plan for my purchase from Allstate. The cost of the item I bought didn't justify the added coast, so I clicked the "no thank you" button. Come to find out when checking out that the plan had been added to my purchase even though I expressly rejected the offer. I've since contacted SquareTrade about this, with no reply. STAY AWAY from any auction which has the name SquareTrade or Allstate associated with it in ANY WAY. Crooks!

Warranty Scam
April 10, 2025

Beware - They scam you out of your warranty coverage. I purchased a 5 year warranty and in year 2 I filed a claim that should have been covered. The fine print at the bottom of their coverage plan that no one would ever read states that all claims must be filed within 30 days of identifying the issue. They purposely ask you for the date it happened and when you say a date outside of the 30 day period, they void your warranty coverage. It's an absolute disgrace and they're getting away with it. Their customer service was not helpful at all.

Terrible coverage
February 27, 2025

I purchased chairs from Wayfair and I also purchased a warranty to go with the chairs and now that I'm trying to make a claim they are finding a hundred different excuses to not cover the chairs. And in fact they've even lied about why they're rejecting my claim. They had said that I had 30 days to make the claim from the time I noticed the damage which I did within the month of February 2025 and they rejected it saying that I didn't follow the rules. I am very upset...
On one chair the seams are coming apart at the corners, on the second chair. The vinyl just started cracking. I purchased a 3-year warranty and I'm still within that proper time limit of making a claim. What is the point of having this insurance if you can't make a claim?

Having bought a Russell Hobbs microwave oven from Appliances Online (who are very good) it stopped heating after 13 months but was covered with extended warranty. The warranty was covered by SquareTrade who advised I needed to take the appliance to their designated repair centre to determine that it had actually ceased working. The centre was one hour's drive from my house. I rang the number given to make sure they would be open on a Saturday as that is the only time I can drive there and was told it would be open. I arrived on Saturday to find a sign on the door saying it is not open Saturday or Sunday. NOT HAPPY. Had to turn around and drive home with a dead microwave in my boot. Now I can only register this complaint online without indicating it was Saturday so have had to put Friday. Not my day.

Worst warranty service you can deal with

Absolute Worst Warranty Service – Feels Like a Scam

I submitted all the required documents—original receipt, photos, and everything they asked for—yet SquareTrade keeps sending the same email demanding evidence I've already provided.

What makes this even more absurd is that when I called customer service, they confirmed they have everything they need. So why am I still getting the same runaround?

This is beyond frustrating. SquareTrade sells warranties under the promise of peace of mind, but when it's time to honor a claim,

Worst company ever!
January 30, 2025

Son purchased a laptop from Walmart and got the extended warranty from SquareTrade. His screen cracked and they told him once they received the laptop it would be 2-5 business days to get it back. It's been a MONTH! He needs his laptop for school. He keeps getting the run around when he contacts them. I feel for those people who have their products yet and could call repair man to fix but these idiots have my sons Laptop and won't return it!

We have been paying into a service plan for 5 years, every month without fail. My wife misplaced the bank card that was being charged, so the next payment we got notice of failed payment. We immediately went to the website to try and update our payment method, with no success. We then contacted square trade and spoke with 3 different agents to try and update payment method, no one was able to do it. They claimed to be sending us emails with links to update payment, but those mysteriously never arrived meanwhile all the other correspondence came in just fine. In a last ditch effort, we applied for an email address change, which they stated would take 1-2 wks to process and be available. I just received a cancellation email to the new address an hour ago. I was able to get an agent on the phone to try and help. They told me that since it had been cancelled that there was no way of reinstating it. I asked for a supervisor and she gave me the same line.
Bottom line, there website wasn't working properly, which rendered us unable to update the payment method. Agents are unable to assist in the matter to remedy the situation. My guess is that after paying for the plan for 5 years, they were unwilling to renew and this was all a ruse. We have paid them for a very long time, on multiple devices over the years. Bottom line go somewhere else. I wish we would have seen these reviews before we wasted all our money with them. There must be someone better out there, because Squarer trade sucks balls!

It's a rip off plain and simple. They refuse to pay anything. They will find ant excuse to get out of paying. This is nothing but a scam! I was sold Garbage Frigidaire Range by Home Depot (Not Home Depot that I am blaming) The Third World Country where Frigidare has their garbage manufactured didn't put the serial number sticker on the range, the swine at Frigidaire refused to stand behind their product, despite having been sent a copy of the sales receipt, and even being contacted by Home Depot. The scum at Allstate SquareTrade refuse to cover the $120.00 extended warranty because the issue occured before the range was used. Both companies are lyimg scum and a rip off!

Really, Zero Stars
December 19, 2024

This is a scam, and I wish Amazon would drop them. I bought a warranty for a rug. Later, when the rug got a snag, they refused coverage because I didn't report it within either 24 or 48 hours. Now, two years later, I reported a seam issue, and they will not cover it because they dropped my coverage over my timeframe in reporting my original issue. This seems like it should be illegal. I paid for five years of coverage.
Please do not purchase a warranty from this company. They will find a way to not cover your item.
