The tenant made a false claim and so Spotahmo said they would not pay me. I presented the evidence of the room, that was provided to the tenant that was agreed conidiation. They told tenant I said they must leave the property, they said they will not pay me, and they took money from the tenant stated I requested a depots fee, which I was unaware of. I only found out about this money because the tenant complained about being over charged. Spotahome seal from Landlords and tenant My advice is to check that the Landlord received the money, Spotahome lie a lot. The no hotel insurances

Do not spend your money on a house before you have seen it for yourself! Spotahome evaluators are not accurate and are probably bribed by the home owners or agents so that they give them good reviews.*

I had a horrible experience with Spotahome where I booked a studio apartment and upon check in, I found the place was in such bad shape that I couldn't even stay there. The window louvres were broken and people on the outside could see inside the house since it had no sheers. The floors were so dirty they looked like a construction was still ongoing. One of the walls had a leakage which was apparently stopped afew days before but there was left a huge patch and the wall was still wet which could lead to mold. There were no cooking utensils, only plates, cups and cutlery like an Airbnb whereas it was indicated on the website as fully furnished and I was going to be renting it for many months as a student. Oh and the interior decor was staged for purposes of taking photos for the website because it looked completely different from the pictures so that rule of Spotahome that what you see is what you get is a serious lie. Afew hours after checking in, I contacted Spotahome because I was convinced the agency managing the house was a scam and I had to rebook the place I had been staying in before and left. After two weeks of back and forth with them, they refused to refund my money because they didn't think the shortcomings of the house were bad enough that I can't stay in it. When I called and spoke to Giorgia to understand how they came to that conclusion, they had no reasonable answer for me but somehow they didn't dispute the fact that if they had provided the accurate information about the house, I probably wouldn't have booked it to begin with. So it was a scam. After my school pressured them (since my school had recommended them to begin with), they refunded the service fee which was only €221 but refused to refund the €900 I had paid as rent for the first month even though I never even stayed there. My current housing agency advised that I go to the police but I decided not to engage in the complexities of that since I already lost so much money.

So yeah, Spotahome is not trustworthy, look for a company that lets you see the house for yourself before payment.

They will ask for a lot of financial information. Once they get your financial information they will nickel and dime you. Read their fine print carefully. Spain is notorious for financial scams. Read the reviews…BUYER BEWARE

To avoid unexpected and unacceptable payment, you can contact your credit card company by saying you got scammed by someone and the company withdrew money without your consent.

I contacted their customer service and nothing worked. So I used the method above and successfully got a full refund from them. You will need to sacrifice your spotahome membership but still worth it.

Never Using Spotahome Again

My experience started off bad and has only gotten worse. I've had a very disappointing experience engaging with customer service which was, despite the long waiting periods, responsive but thoroughly unhelpful and dismissive. My landlord experience was also unpleasant. I'm still in the apt I booked which was not cleaned well when I arrived, the sheets had stains, I'm having to deal with cockroaches and other insects crawling around mainly at night, I'm pretty sure I spotted a bed bug crawling in the room the other day, I have out of pocket expenses for bug traps to put in the apartment since the landlord has ignored my requests to provide them (also was lied to about receiving them by the only person who I've been able to talk to associated to the apt), the landlord has been non responsive, I have lights on while I'm home and when sleeping to help prevent cockroaches from entering my room which will end up increasing my bill at the end of the month, and worst part is I'm dealing with physical reactions and symptoms from the bugs and state of the apt. I reached out about the issues the day after I arrived and was told nothing could be done in response to my concerns aside from reaching out to the landlord since the apt matched the images displayed online. The first response I received from the landlord when I reached out was that nothing could be done, and I'd need to deal with the roaches in the apt, which for one, is not true because I know at the least bug traps exist and two, is a health concern. The response I received from Spotahome, after several emails sent out about my issue not being resolved was this:

" Hello,

I hope this message finds you well and that the situation has improved with respect to your arrival. I am sure that your landlord was willing to help you to make your stay more comfortable.

We hope we have been helpful and do not hesitate to contact us with any questions or needs you may have.

Thank you very much for your patience and collaboration.

Best regards,
Andrea González"

I now have a couple more weeks here and the only emails I'm receiving are about payment requests, after I was told I didn't need to do anything further by the last representative who reached out to me about money and nothing else. It's the most they've reached out thus far of course, while none of my concerns have been resolved. I don't expect anything will be done regarding my concerns. They've even begun closing tickets I've sent that haven't been addressed.

I'm sure from the many reviews, people have had good experiences using Spotahome and with their landlords, but my experience has been and still is the worst I've had with any 3rd party housing site. I'm not even sure I mentioned everything that has bothered me from this experience as I'm honestly just so annoyed right now and yes I am feeling bitter waking up out of my sleep suddenly coughing like a chain smoker and itching cause of god knows what is in the bed. But all in all, it's been terribly unpleasant and I will not be using their services again after this.

I tried to request information through their website and it was difficult to contact them. I was interested in a house but they had uploaded a video old from 2017 and I wanted to ask if there were any updated photos and videos. Too complicated, I couldn't find a way to contact them which made me give up. I don't consider it reliable so i deleted from my options to find an apartment via this company.

I paid for an apt unit in Madrid (overpriced) but i knew it and sometimes it gives me a sense of security that if am paying more is because i will receive better customer service and a all around satisfying experience. Well NOT THE CASE. I tented a unit specifically with a filter preference non negotiable AC unit for the summer.long story short the electric power goes off since the first week to the point that the refrigerator crashed for the electric shot downs. They kept saying they were on it and just letting my days burn while O got stock with no AC no fridge a lot of money lost in food that spoiled in the fridge and sweat nights. I demanded a relocation as the landlord kept trying figure out nicely the problem but is still day 49 and she hasn't been able to fic the electric problem. Spotahome keeps ignoring my email and phone calls. They don't care, they keep saying they are reviewing the case 35 days after! They made a BIG amount of money on my "service fee" and they also keep 20% of the lady landlord rent. I have been renting air bnb for years and NEVER ran into such situation.
However I am already acting on it a d yes, I have already filled out a complain with the police, the city, and the customer protection program that are going after then with lawyers.

If you have a problem DONT LET IT JUST GO! They are stilling your money and any inconvenience affects every detail of your stay at a foreign country!

They are a SCAM!

Defrauded

On Friday 9 of June we booked a house through spotahome wich initially I was shocked with the amount of money came out of my account, we were told one price of 1100 when in fact they've took 1900 on the arrival of the property we were met the landlord and his son ( we were shocked with the conditions of the property) after showing us around the landlord demanded extra 1000 pounds in case of possible damages wich my partner disputed because it was all included in the initial price the landlord and his son wouldn't leave until we paid it wich the state of the house was totally unacceptable so we left we tried to contact spotahome but by then the office's were closed, there was no kettle nothing to cook with and we were going to be there for 3 weeks.we read on the terms and conditions that we could cancel with in 24 hours if we found it unsuitable and they would find us alternative accommodation as the office was closed there was nothing else we could do but spend more money for another place.24 hours later we are still waiting for a response, we are totally in shock the way we have been treated the landlord contacted me when he found out we had left and to be honest I've never had to take so much abuse hopefully no one will ever have this experience.

DO NOT USE THIS SITE! Absolutely terrible experience. I am still owed nearly £4000 from a deposit and a rent overpayment, which only occurred because Spotahome hadn't transferred the landlord the rent I sent them in time so money was demanded from me on arrival. Spotahome have made very little attempt to help me get this money or the deposit money back, saying I need to sort it out directly with the landlord. It has been 6 months since I moved out of the property now and she has ignored all my calls and messages asking for an update. Despite Spotahome being aware of this, the property I stayed in is still listed on their website with claims that it's had 67 happy tenants.

Pictures attached are of the flat that I rented for two months in Madrid. This is still on their site now despite what I am going through with the landlord so I would be very careful and avoid as there is absolutely no customer protection.

Their reviews are 1.24 over 5. A terrible company and a scam. You can't see the landlords before you book so you might end up with the worst rental agencies of any city that cannot rent without access to these types of ghost platforms. No customer support to help you when you inevitably fall prey to the mostly shady and scamful apartment owners who want deposits 48 hours after booking, keep your deposit forever and do not answer neither during the booking process or after when you want your deposit back. Specifically I had an issue with Roomswerent, you can google the reviews to see how much harm they have caused other people as well. But the best part is no one else would let them lease through their websites anonymously except Spotahome which is why they promote their terrible apartments filled with insects, cameras and people entering your rooms! I contacted Spotahome immediately when I saw the reviews of the company and felt unsafe to stay there and pay deposits beforehand and they have only told me that it is my fault that they are enlisting terrible businesses their website. Another review by Medium is available to read about the same situation happening in Portugal to another girl. Please be careful, there are better and cheaper options do not go for this.

We have booked a room for our son through Spotahome in Valencia. When
He arrived there, the room had no proper window and no natural light and felt
Like a prison cell. On the photos on the website the window was hidden
Behind a curtain so that you could not see that it was blocked by a wall. On
The photo, the room was artificially made to look bright. The landlord was ok
For our son not to take the room but Spotahome still does not return his
Money and just doesn't answer any correspondence. Even though they say
On the website that you can change your room if you don't like it this is not
True and you don't get any money back. So be very careful. Don't trust the
Pictures. Once you send any money you don't get it back.

Spotahome is absolute scam that will do everything not to return your security deposit. Our landlord came up with absurd and imaginary accusations about damages caused and even items thieved. All these claims are completely untrue and no evidence is sent to the tenants. Stay away from this company

Waste of time

I planned my trip two weeks in advance, one apartment I waited for a week and a half and the landlord nor the customer support replied. After some time, I booked a different apartment but the landlord requested more documents two days before travel. I sent them but received no answer from the landlord and customer support. As a result I booked a hotel room for the same day I arrived and booked a different apartment on Airbnb, which actually worked compared to this waste of time or, sorry, spotahome.com. Don't use it

I stayed in their apartment and it was left it a good condition. However, now they sent me an email claiming that something was damaged or even stolen, which is totally untrue. For example, the host said we stole a microwave (literally what the hell, why on Earth would we need it if we didn't even use it). I have no clue how they came up with such nonsense and now they refuse to give me the deposit back. Stay away from this scam! This fraud must be punished

Horrible customer service. When I realized they were charging me a whole month's for 2 days I told them they gad missleading information. They replied to me that I need them. They dont need me. They will find customers but I will not find a plave in Berlin. Not only they had horrible customer service, but also horrible manners.

I would not recommend this site at all. I booked a room by accident (i thought it would Show me payment Information, but instead it confirmed and completed the booking. I cancelled 2 Minutes after I realized my error, but they already charged my credit card 900€ for rent and service. I cancelled, but only got 300€ back because of „service fees". The customer service doesn't give a $#*! about the people and is really greedy, I lost 600€ because of 2 minutes reservation. Don't use this site! Absolutely horrible people ripping off students and young people. I wonder how they sleep at night, rotten hearts.
