You know something isn't right when a fish website has a review page full of fake reviews. Thought about getting some discus, contacted the owners for some further info, and they were by far the rudest people I have dealt with in the fish industry. Then i read reviews, and realized this is the last place you want to buy fish. Also read they've been in trouble with the better business Bureau multiple times.
My discus were shipped 2 day by ups
They came@ 7:00 pm
There was barely any water in the individual bags
Out of 6,3 arrived dead
I did as they said, took pictures within the hour they arrived by8:00 pm
They said they never received them and because I did not notify them in time I will not be credited anything, also one of the live was only 1 inch, they were all suppose to be 2-3 inches. These people are very bad business people, DO NOT BUY ANYTHING FROM THEM!
I placed my first order with them. I was careful to pay for next day delivery as they recommended! My fish arrived the next day by UPS and then entire outside of the package was soaking wet... So wet the wrapping fell apart in my hands. Obviously the water had come from the fish bags and there was so little water in the bags both fish I ordered were dead! The little water left was so hot they probably wouldn't have lived in that any way. It was clear the packaging was not done correctly, however they STILL would not refund my shipping and of course I was out the money! Then you have to stick toothpicks through the fish and send pictures to show they were dead! Do NOT order from them... It is a racket!
Upon receiving my discus order in April 2016 it was very obvious the fish were diseased some so thin as sheet of paper after contacting the seller was told as long as they arrived alive there was no refunds although of the 11 discus one died within first 24 hours 5 others died within six days so if considering purchasing discus look elsewhere cause the name says it all SOMETHING PHISHY, about their business of selling diseased low quality discus
The owner if this company is a reshipper of Discus. Once you place your order it is sent to them in Florida and they just reship the package to their customers. It should be against the law to put any animal through this. The discus they sent me had been in their shipping bags so long that the water was white and they had already started decomposing and breaking down. DO NOT BUY FROM HERE. YOU WILL BE SORRY.
I will just be honest, when i recieved my fish, ups decided to bring them as the last box being delivered that day. I was furious. My fish arrived laying on theyre side and clearly not doing well. The box was baking. I live in florida. I didnt think they would make it. The fish finally got off theyre side once in the tank for a couple days but still didnt eat for several days. I the seller and he told me to clean out the tank and do frequent water changes and follow his instructions on the website to the T. For two weeks straight i changed that water with 50 and 80 percent water changes and I fed live brine shrimp to stimulate theyre natural instincts to eat. Today. Im happy to report that my fish are gorgeous. I wish I could submit pics of what they looked like when i got them and what they look like today. Alot of ppl blame the seller for the condition of the fish but honestly I just think theres alot of factors that play into buy fish off the internet and them being shipped. I dont think the seller intentionally sends anyone sick or dead fish and he provides clear and precise directions on the website on how to quarentine the fish to nurse them back to health from the shipping process. Fish are finiky and even getting them from your local pet shop they can die from stress even furthermore going thru a shipping process. I will purchase again. I wasnt a happy customer at first but i enjoy my fish so much now that they are healthy. It was a learning process and now my fish are beautiful. I would be happy to pay 100 bucks for 5 fish as apposed to paying 60 bucks for 1 fish in the petshop.
This is my second order of 12 discus from somethingsphishy they all came in healthy and the variety was awesome the ordering process was easy and I will order from them again PS the last order I received I still have all but two discus and are now pushing 5 to 7 inches
Since I was new to raising discus, I assumed I was at fault when I had problems with all three discus I received from SomethingPhishy. However, I continued to build a discus tank community despite the death of one discus in one day, and the deformity of two of the other SomethingPhishy's discus I received. I had to keep them for humane reasons but was relieved that they perished within the year. Have had wonderful luck with the discus I ordered from Hans Discus, a truly quality fish breeder. Please do not order fish from this company; they treat their fish terribly and ultimately you will be the loser, dead, dying, deformed fish.
2 arived today. Beautiful fish. But dead. Water was I've cold. Wish I would have seen these reviews before I ordered... out the shiping money now.
So I bought this and one other Discus fish. It came late the following day, at about 6:00 PM. In December, so it was fairly cold out. The UPS guy brought me the package, and I opened it before signing, to make sure they were there and well. I opened them up, and they were both dead. The bag the fish were in was freezing, so I'm assuming the water was as well.
I asked the UPS delivery guy what he thinks I should do at this point since I didn't order dead fish. They suggested refusing the shipment, so I agreed.
I then emailed customer service, asking for assistance. I was told since I refused the delivery I couldn't get a refund or anything. I was told it says in the guarantee that I need to sign for it. I re-read the guarantee and it didn't say I had to accept them. I had to open immediately and try to acclimate them. But, if they are dead, acclimating them wouldn't work.
As I wasn't sure what to do for a few minutes with the delivery guy, I didn't notice the gills move at all.
Pretty disappointed. I have ordered from SomtheingsPhishy before, an this is definitely the worst.
I ordered 8 discus and only 7 were shipped. When I asked him about the missing fish, he tried to tell me he filled the order and 8 were sent. After looking at the invoice, I can see one particular that only had 1 check by it. 2 discus were DOA and one is very weak. When I asked for a refund, he told me that I placed the fish in a non sterile environment and they need two weeks to regain their immune system. Never heard of this in the 40 years I have been a aquatist. But to prove his point, all the water in the tank is RO water and has 2 plants and gravel. He them wanted me to stick a toothpick thru the dead fish which I did one but the other was dead in the bag. Why should I do this, its inhumane to me. After 5 emails back and forth, I did receive a refund for the missing fish and 1/2 for the one DOA. Nothing for the other two that looked sick when I received them. At the end of his email, he stated we should not do business in the future and closed my account. Needs to learn some professional business skills and try to work with his customer..
I purchased three discus from them, they came in fine shape, checked my credit card and it was billed twice. Contacted my credit card company and opened a case for refund. He contacted me and stated he issued a refund and requested a answer of canceling the case for the refund. I emailed him and told him that the credit card company would cancel the case on receiving the refund to my account. He emailed me and stated he was canceling the refund because I hadn't contacted him. Credit card company said they didn't receive any refund notice and never heard of a company canceling a double billing. You Be the Judge of this company..
Worst experience ever
A very bad customer service.
I ordered six discus fish, but one arrived very sick and died on day later, 5 others get sick and looks like they are going to die.
When I made the claim they indicated that they only cover DOA. No matter if a sick fish was shipped and subsequently die.
When I replied to them that Ill write a review on the page, they canceled my account, also deleting my order so I cannot make further claims. Very clever.
I do not recommend for anyone to make a purchase from this site. You will be wasting your money on fish that will end up dying in a few days.
Worst experience ever. They are a scam they don't stand behind their products. They sent me an email that my shipment will arrive next day and never received it. When I emailed them they completely shut me out and closed my account. I have ordered from them in the past and yes their discus do not look like other discus. In the event they survive they are stunted. I have purchased from their assortment and all but 1 survived. Its been over a year and it is a little bigger than a quarter in a 300 gallon with cardinals, and Cory's. Do yourself a favor buy from your local stores. You might think your getting a deal but you get what you pay for. They are just some thing fishy. BACK YARD BREEDERs TRYING TO BACK DOOR YOU.
He sent 6 angelfish that GILL PLATE PROBLEMS DEFORM FOR $166.00 DON'T EVER BUY FROM SOMETHINGSPHISHY! He will RIP YOU OFF Look at his feedback reviews he only shows good he will not show BAD REVIEWS please learn from my mistake and buy from a LEGITIMATE BREEDER SOMETHINGSPHISHY RIP YOU OFF CON MAN
Completed the order a few weeks ago. All 10 fish are in great shape and thriving. I like the last 5 better than the first 5, but it would be difficult to complain considering the first five were "assorted" and very inexpensive. I intend to order a few more then reduce my fish count over the next year through craigslist. Assuming all continue to thrive. So far I ordered 5 assorted, 1 Brilliant Blue Diamond, 1 Ruby Red Mosaic, 1 Red Turquoise Discus, 1 Brilliant Blue Mosaic, 1 AquaGreen Scribble all 2-3 inch. Some are very pretty. One is down right ugly, but my wife likes him. The best review of discus fish is a picture. I include at least one shot of each of my fish below. I have included duplicates of the same fish where different lighting enhanced colors. Both the smallest, red with white face, and the ugliest, yellow with dark trim, were part of the assorted delivery.
I've been dealing with somethingsphishy for about 7 years and I just received 6 discus great color, very healthy fish.
This place is awful. Ugly colored fish, football shaped and smaller than what they advertise. They had some kind of disease when I got 5 from them. They are stunted and don't grow. They won't answer emails either. Stay away. Buy from Tony at Sunrise Tropicals. He is honest and has beautiful quality discus. You can actually pick from a photo which ones you want.
Don't order from somethingphisy.com ever. This place has the ugliest shaped discus in stock. These are called grade F quality. The Asian discus separate A grade B grade discus because of the round body and discard the F grade, because they shapeless (football shape). Somethingphisy like businesses buy them in bulk at a heavily discounted price and sell it to unsuspected customers. In the end it is the customer that loses the money and left with ugly fish. Grade A and B are called competition discus. You are better off going to a well reputed place even if it is more money. You will be happy in the end.
Answer: It really depends on their health to start with. In my experience if they were all the same health I'd try for a bigger one first since the smaller ones seem to get sick first or stress the most when their is a problem. Anything smaller than 2" is also tough since the other fish (even discus) will bully them and stress them out.
