I placed an order for 3 discus. I received 2 sick discus and 1 bag of water! No joke. They refused to refund or replace the missing fish, were insanely rude and told me they refused to communicate. What kind of business is this?!
I placed a second order with different details to try and catch them out as I was not prepared for this on my first order. I wanted to be able to prove they were dodgy so no one else had to go through this. However I did receive the right amount of fish however one was DOA and the other died a few hours after. They did refund me this time but the shipping is more than the fish in most cases so I'm still out a lot of money and no fish.
0 out of 5 fish with this supplier. DO NOT BUY! Horrible people with $#*!ty service and sick fish. It's not worth the money to gamble.
I don't understand how business owners can get away with this.
I was informed by Keith these would be re bagged after not being picked up by UPS. Packed in such small bags. No room for oxygen if any. Bags were very deflated. Fish were starting to decay slime coat and fin pieces. One warm pack, 86.00 for shipping. And they pride themselves in their packing technic. Re evaluation needed. I own a pet business and if I were to do business like this. I would have people wanting all their money back. I will contact the BBB and turn them in. It is a true scam. A pet store business owner.
After reading some reviews I got nervous, I emailed the company to raise my concerns and ask about shipping etc. I got a fast email back explaining the process and reassurance. I received a assorted 6 pack of 2.5 inch discus. All alive(a bit cold though but it's winter in Michigan) all fish look good but one blue diamond who's very stunted and a blue Cobalt that's slightly stunted. Overall, not an awful experience.
This was my 3rd order from them and u did so with hesitation. As I had issues with the other 2. This time the fish arrived 48 hrs after being shipped. All were dead. I notified them that I did not have tooth picks but I did have dental pics. Would result in same... something stuck completely thru the fish. I also got confirmation that UPS would refund shipping as it was their fault. I sent the pics of all fish and then attached the screen shot of UPS chat. I got email back from the owner Keith saying I had to send pic AS DISCRIBED IN AGREEMENT, and as I was being combative my account would be deleted once refund was given. I was not rude or combative in any way. When I asked for explanation they simply said send the pics as discribed and then go from there. I was refunded cost of fish but not shipping. And my account was indeed deleted. I asked UPS about shipping cost and they said that somethingphishy could request the refund. So I bet they did and got the 65 dollars then kept it. Last time I deal with them.
Made a second order before first was shipped. The owner Keith, first off was very rude and came right at me about even making a second order. The fish came. I was at work, my wife unpacked them and floated them before I got home. She mistakenly placed 2 bags behind some boxes and I asked keith what happened to the other two. He came right after me, very angry. I later found them 2 days after. I let him know, apologizing and explain what happened. Permanently banned now, just tried to let him know I was sorry. Should have known from the start getting a hint of his attitude. Most fish covered in fungus and very stressed. He makes sure he picks all the good review's on his site. Hopefully customers in the future see my message and take heed here. Waste of time and money, does not treat anyone with decency one bit.
Fish are low quality and sickly upon arrival. You literally have to nurse the discus back to good health upon arrival. If you are unaware how to do this with discus, then somethingsphisy is not for you. By all means, don't advise the owner Keith that you have received a sick fish. He will do nothing more but go into a state of denial and become irate towards his customers.
The price is sometimes always to good to be true. You can buy the same fish for a couple of bucks more at other sites. More than likely coming from Keith, but at least they are nursed to good health before they are sent to their customers.
If you receive sick or dead fish from this seller. Just call your bank or credit card company and advise. Keith will not refund or replace anything for you. Just call your bank or credit card provider and they will refund you the money and go after Keith for the money. Taking the hassle of having to deal with this person.
Very unprofessional and does not belong in the discus world.
My husband and I have spent close to $1,000 in the past month alone. First shipment was fine, one stressed but to be somewhat expected. Second shipment wasn't great. We had 3 discus that weren't acting right. Wouldn't eat, always black. We thought maybe they were stressed like the first shipment. Gave them a few days to acclimate, to no avail. Husband then proceeded with a salt bath and placed into a medical tank with general cure paracite medication. Now, in the 90 gallon our other discus were acting sick. Had to then treat that tank as well, as the 3 fish were infact sick and infected a few of our others. Luckily we saved them all. However, once my husband informed him of this, he was told if he didn't want sick fish to purchase discus elsewhere. I've never seen such horrible customer service. My husband didn't complain, he was actually trying to purchase more fish and simply asked when the leopards would be back in stock and that's when the owner informed him they were sick and being treated. This is when my husband informed the owner of the sick fish we had received 2 weeks ago. Again, was told if he didn't want sick fish to purchase elsewhere and then the owner closed my husband's account so he couldn't order anything. Karma will come back around. Don't waste your time or money.

I've had the fish (8 discus) for 5 days, and I've half of them are displaying symptoms of Hex parasite (stringy white feces, one with hole in the head). I'll need to run a full course of antibiotics (metro) on the tank, and I'm unsure if I'll ever want to move them into my show tank with the rest of my discus and risk exposing the healthy fish to this parasite.
They're all eating and I hope with treatment they'll all live, but now they'll spend a few months in a hospital tank and I've had the added expense and stress of trying to cure sick fish.
In hindsight, I should have shopped at a higher end seller. I've had gotten less stress and saved money. You get what you pay for- in this case, pretty but sick fish.

I ordered 8 2-3" discus this week, and my experience with this seller was excellent. I'd recommend them to anyone.
Fish were shipped very promptly, and email updates were sent out at every stage. They were all packed well, and arrived in good shape (minus one small issue, which the seller resolved).
I did notice one fish had a small spot on it's head, so I emailed customer support. They refunded me for the fish, and provided extensive additional information about how to care for it. The fish seems quite happy and healthy, and I'm optimistic that the little wound will heal.
I'd also note that I made a mistake and did not follow their acclimation instructions properly (I had a plant and some driftwood in my tank). Keith, the owner of the company, did point this out to me but still refunded my fish. I'll say that again - I didn't follow their instructions, and they still refunded my fish.
This company cares, and they did a good job on my order. I'll buy from them again.
Discus fish are very large over 6inches and are the most colorful and gracefull fish in the tank. We add numerous vibrantly collored angels and plecsos. My mom won $500 in her catagoery and 1 place in show!

EVERY ORDER I HAVE RECIEVED ARRIVES PERFECTLY PACKED AND THE FISH ARE JUST JUMPING OUT OF THEIR BAGS INTO MY TANK. I HAVE OVER 30 DISCUS AND ANGEL FISH FROM SOMETHINGSPHISHY AND ALL ARE HEALTHY AND HAVE GREAT COLORATION EVEN THE SMALL 3IN ONES. BEST ONLINE SELLER 5 STARS!
I loved some of the fish available at this site. However I did not see in the baby fine print shipping was over $70 even though my order was only $48. I IMMEDIATELY CONTACTED THEM WITH AN EMAIL AND EXPLAINED I WANTED THE ORDER BUT IF THEY COULDNT HELP ME CHANGE THE SHIPPING METHOD I WOULD HAVE TO HAVE MY. REDIR UNION DENY THE CHARGE AND CANCEL THE WHOLE ORDER AND SHOP ELSEWHERE. They banned me from the site so I cant go back to see my order history or where they say shipping is printed, and sent a very nasty email in return.
As it states on the website, all fish must be shipped via Next Day delivery.
We will cancel the order. As you are making threats to us if we do not do something that is not possible to CORRECT YOUR ORDER. You are now banned.

I was concerned about all the bad reviews but i tried them out anyways. Then after i ordered them i saw the weather in phx was going to be 100 that day. I was alittle more concerned because of the reviews. Then on top of that ups said to expect them between 12 and 4. Finally at 630 they arrived and they all look good. Im sorry to all the people on here who had problem with them. I can only review them on my experience with them and it was perfect.
They do not use any blue/yellow stress liquid for shipment. One bag was leaking water. Peppered Discus. Discus were so stressed out, I thought they were dead at first. Luckily I had Seachem Stability at home to add stress coat to them.
I emailed them to let them know, and was told: Thanks for your feedback. No apology whatsoever.
Lost a customer.
First off, DO NOT BUY any fish from this place! I made the mistake of ordering before reading reviews and unfortunately I was not the exception. Sick fish, carelessly packed, and about the worst customer you could imagine.
I ordered five discus. I was a bit apprehensive having such a delicate fish shipped but reading the information on the web page made me feel a bit more comfortable. I thought having experience they would at least be packed well. I was wrong. They came in vastly undersized leaky bags with barely enough water to cover them. It was also a low temp of 30° overnight. They stated they would take extra precautions in cases of cold weather. They did not. There was one heat pack taped to the top of the cooler which was already room temp at best by the time I opened the box and what little water there was left in the bags was very cold. Following instructions I floated them for the prescribed time and began to release. Every one of the five fish were in deplorable condition. They were all sickly with white patches and suffering from fin rot. Seriously the five worst fish Ive ever seen. How you can possibly sell someone fish in that condition is beyond me.
On to the customer service. I was very polite in my email sent less then an hour after receiving the fish. I simply described their condition and expressed my concern for their health and asked for advice on how or with what to treat them. Nearly 24 hours later he responded and asked for pictures. I sent the photos and since he saw that they were not in a bare bottom tank he refused to offer any help or advice. He sells me dying sick fish and without any remorse refuses to even acknowledge their condition. This man obviously cares nothing about his fish. And he wonders why people send him belligerent emails. Maybe he should ask himself why that is.
Purchased online 6 discus fishes on April 19,2018 and received package on April 24,2018. Unfortunately, one discus looks like PARROT FISH. Said discus has an indentation in the head. It has a hump on the forehead and the mouth part look like beak. Emailed them within 12 hours after delivery as I only notice it when i turned on the light after the acclimation time. Also the next day, one discus died and there's no way to call said company. EMAIL THEM AND THERE'S NO REPLY. BEWARE TO ALL DISCUS HOBBYISTS, DON'T TRUST THIS SELLER EVEN THOUGH HE CLAIMS HE'S THE LARGEST DISCUS BREEDER IN AMERICA. IF HE'S REALLY THE LARGEST SELLER IN AMERICA, THEN HE SHOULD HAVE STAFF TO DEAL WITH ISSUES FROM CUSTOMER... SMALL OR BIG BUYERS SHOULD BE TREATED THE SAME AND ISSUES SHOULD BE ADDRESS IMMEDIATELY. WORST IS THEY WOULD BLOCK AND DELETE THEIR CUSTOMER WHO HAS ISSUE WITH THE FISH THEY BOUGHT AFTER THEY COMPLAIN OR ADDRESS SAID ISSUE

The first order from this company was packed well and arrived in good condition. I ordered with a relative, and I will be surprised if any of these little discus survive. We ordered a special 10 pack of small discus(30 total). This was about three weeks ago. Today my last one died and the relatives' have perhaps five between them. The advertisement said these little discus were eagerly eating flake food. They didn't have a clue what food was or how to eat. They were single bagged without enough oxygen. Besides the fish bags, there was a little Chinese language newspaper scattered among them for packing material. Some of the water stank. I sent an email asking for help about their lack of eating and received no answer. Never again will I order from this business.
I had purchase 6 discus from them and 3 of them died and was only refunded for 1 even after I send the pictures, I had a misunderstanding with the owner in communication with him over emails, do to him being extremely rude and overall very nasty via email, I tried going to their location in Miami and they don't even let you in the store, I also tried purchasing some discus for a friend that couldn't afford discus from other local stores and they send me and email saying that I had been banned from being able to purchase from him, its not fair for other people to have to deal with this kind of attitude from a business owner that banned a customer for ever over and email misunderstanding on his behalf, also if you guys want good quality discus for just a little bit more money but a really great customer service and I drove all the way to Orlando florida to Miami to meet him, go to watley discus located in Miami and their shipping is a lot lower than this guys, I promised you wont be disappointed. This guys do not deserve the business, I own around 85 discus and had purchased from several different places and I had never felt this way about any of them.
We wrote this company in regards to online free shipping coupons we had discovered. Letting Keith know that they weren't being accepted on the website. We stated that we felt like it was deceiving but it could have been us. Keith's response was simply that if we are ACCUSING HIS BUSINESS OF BEING DECEITFUL THEN HE DOESN'T NEED OUR BUSINESS. Our initial question/concern was that of the coupon and pointing out a potential pitfall of marketing. Keith's customer service was horrible. Don't worry Keith. We won't be doing business with you. I shall also pass along our feedback to our new local aquarium who just started doing business with you. I doubt he reads this, and if he does I HIGHLY DOUBT he cares.
(Something Phishy) where do I start, I have been ordering Live fish online for a while, some came as pleasant experience and some disappointing. So when I saw Something Phishy site I was very hesitant to order based on some of the reviews. However I always like to find out myself, and sometimes it comes very costly. So I ordered some fish from them, received my order everything is good and as described. Then did a bigger order with them, same thing got my fish all good very happy. Now lets get serious, so I order about 48 fish from them (Large Order). Got an email from them, that my order was shipped and UPS tracking number. UPS said my order be at my home around 10:30 AM. I am super excited waiting for my fish. Oops UPS have delay my order will not come in till next day. I was very concern because the temperature. I sent an Email to Something Phishy letting them know about the order status and my concerns. Honestly; I wasnt expecting an answer, may be till the order get here. Surprise. Few minutes received an email from Something Phishy & Keith. Very very professional asking me to be patient and not to give up. UPS had another delay. We paid UPS for overnight service, two days later and my order no show. Keith was in contacted with UPS and ME. I was doing the same. Finally the box arrived. It was damaged very clearly was UPS fault. The box had all marking from Something Phishy how sensitive and urgent. Apparently UPS didnt care. Long story short, Something Phishy and Keith worked with me to make sure all fish are safe and replaced all dead fish. 100% of the problem I had was UPS doing 0 fault to Something Phishy. However Something Phishy & Keith were fast helpful and available all the time.

I own several discus already but this is my first time ordering from SomethingsPhishy. I ordered at SomethingsPhishy because my wife wanted a purple one and they were the only ones that carried them. The selection is quite large. I ordered 3 discus and 24 cardinals tetra. It took about 1 week to ship because the Cardinals were special order. I quered the website on when the order would ship after a few days and they replied within 24 hours. Each discus was individually packed in a heavy plastic bag. The cardinals were also in a heavy plastic bag with some sort of yellow additive. These bags were snug inside a foam cooler. The fish are doing great. I'm very pleased.
Answer: It really depends on their health to start with. In my experience if they were all the same health I'd try for a bigger one first since the smaller ones seem to get sick first or stress the most when their is a problem. Anything smaller than 2" is also tough since the other fish (even discus) will bully them and stress them out.
