Customer service was good until I requested some fish added to my order. Their customer service is not nice after that. I got a e-mail that said they don't want to business with me because it is not profitable for them. Today I ordered 12 discus. The pot luck order of 10. They were healthy. They other two came in dead. The other one I found dead towards the evening. They gave me credit for one and will not credit me for the other one. They now blocked me off of their website and suspended my account. The two fish were $50.00 total. So it looks like I got ripped off $25.00. YAY I'll go else where. And I will tell everyone about them. I also kept all emails.
Buyer beware. I purchased A 10 pack of discus. I put them in my tank and 2 days later every fish in my tank was dead. Do not buy from this terrible site. Trash trash trash
I ordered the 4 pack of 2" discus, the 2 blue strain turned completely black within 2 hours of receipt of them 1 died within 48 hours, the other is not long for this world, the 2 red strain seem to be doing ok, but they came in so "peppered" that I'll never know what their true colors could of been, I've e-mailed the owner and his only replies are for me to read the arrive alive guarantee, as long as they're alive when open the bag that's it, even my untrained eye could see they weren't healthy on arrival, please don't go by the reviews on their website, they obviously delete any that aren't 5 star
I was impressed with the low prices and large selection of fish. I did the Live Chat thing with Keith and he was very helpful and answered all my questions he was very helpful and patient with me. I ordered some tetras that I couldn't find anywhere along with some Discus and Angelfish. They arrived the next day professionally packed and larger and more BEAUTIFULL than the pictures! I recommend them to everyone that wants healthy fish at a great price and delivery in less than 24 hrs from ordering!

This company has a terrible reputation but my husband had had neutral experiences with them in the past so we decided to order some fish from them. We ordered 10 fish and when they arrived they were in a container so small that we assumed that they had sent less fish than we paid for. When we opened the Styrofoam container all 10 fish were in there but they were in such small bags and packed so tightly that they were all dead but two. Initially we thought they were *all* dead because the two that were just barely alive were not moving. The return policy is such that the customer is asked to push a wooden toothpick through the dead fish, take a picture and send it to the company in order to get a refund. When my husband was taking them out of the bags to push the toothpick through them, we spotted the two that were just barely hanging on. Initially we sent an email to them very distraught and explaining that all of the fish were dead. A couple of hours later we sent a follow up email with the pictures of the dead fish explaining that two were actually alive. We got an email back accusing us of lying about all of the fish being dead, explaining that we were now banned from the website because of that lie and that a refund would be processed for the fish only, not the shipping. The shipping was about $70, mind you. Awful customer service. Banning us was cute since my husband and I had already decided we would never buy from them again. The way those fish were packed was nothing short of animal animal abuse. Our poor children had to watch us unpack dead fish after dead fish. We would be crazy to order from them ever again. All of the negative comments have clearly been deleted from his website and he bans people to keep them from leaving negative comments. Don't waste your money. Just go to a local fish store and do it the old-fashioned way. UPDATE: I'm now a pathological liar according to his last email. I can't make this stuff up...
Bought 4 Discus advertised as 2 inch. Received fish the size of a quarter. Fish had internal parasite and look stunted. Contacted owner but got no response.
If you buy discus from Keith at SomethingsPhishy.com, PLEASE FOLLOW THIS ADVICE, OR YOU WILL BE SORRY! I bought discus from Keith several years ago around 2018, and just now again in December of 2021. BOTH TIMES the fish were diseased and it spread to my entire 100 Gal tank, killing many of my adult 4-5" discus! This is my own fault because you should never put new discus into your established tank! Also, most of the fish I bought from SomethingsPhishy.com died within 2 weeks of receiving them. So if you buy from this dealer, PLEASE put them in a hospital or isolation tank first and monitor them for AT LEAST 2 weeks before placing them into your main show tank. Best of luck if you buy from this dealer...

Keith the owner of the store is WORSE in terms of customer service. Customer have no right to question about their purchase. If you do have issues, he will threaten to close your account without trying to solve the problem. Stop! Doing business with this arrogant person. There are a lot of fish dealers online willing to give good service.

I have always received 5 star service and AAA+ livestock.
I am not typically the type of person to rewrite a review because I know this can hinder the business. However, all of my fish died soon after I received them. Some a day after and other a week or two. The discus did look good for when I got them but they all died. Clearly stunted and possibly had the discus plague as well. They didn't eat when I got them but I assumed that was normal... then they all died. I even bought the food off of their site!
Don't waste your time! Sick, Ammonia Burns 1 DOA and the other three died within a day, I'm really pissed off about this company.
2 orders in a row shipped orders with fish missing and didn't let me know until after it shipped. This was his response when I asked to let me know about an incomplete order before shipping it to me and then deleted my account so I couldn't leave negative review or contact with a doa the following day with they arrived.
I have had bad experiences ordering pets online because it's so hard to know exactly what you're getting and some sellers just don't care to be reputable. When I first opened the package I was nervous because it looked like a brown fish not the vibrant black with yellow spots the golden nugget pleco is known for. After a few days the pleco got more comfortable and his true colors started to show. He went from a muted dark brown with light brown spots to black and yellow. It was marvelous to see he was really beautifully all along. He is a true gem in our tank And I'm glad I took a chance on this company. He is a little shy but warming up and I love getting to see him a little more and more everyday.
To start this off, Keith is extremely rude. He wanted a picture of my credit card and drivers license (I have ordered fish online before and have never been asked that) but giving him the benefit of the doubt, I sent it to him and the email didn't go through the first 2 times and he was extremely rude about it so I told him he owed me an apology and he didn't so I cancelled my order.
We received our discus fish today. We ordered 3, one purple, one blue and one red. The purple was barely alive and died hrs later. Being new to owning these fish I wasn't aware so I emailed to let them know. Keith responded with a very condescending way. He talked to me like I was stupid. Here was part of his email "When you buy seeds, the packets have a picture of the plant, not the seed. You do not look now as you did as a toddler." When I read his smart-$#*! remark my blood boiled, I will not be ordering from them again.
I ordered 4 discus. 3 were healthy and are doing well. A 4th was alive when it arrived, but was gaunt, had a sunken head, was lethargic, and was obviously ill well before being sent to me. The owner takes no responsibility for the quality of the fish he sends. I can't complain about the 3 good fish I received, but I paid for 4 good fish, not 3 good fish and and a fish that was not long for this world when it arrived.
Very rude email when offering to give a large business order as well as the potential for future business orders. Due to their response that was all capitalized as though yelling at us we will take our business elsewhere. Would not recommend purchasing from an organization that treats their customers so poorly.
Answer: It really depends on their health to start with. In my experience if they were all the same health I'd try for a bigger one first since the smaller ones seem to get sick first or stress the most when their is a problem. Anything smaller than 2" is also tough since the other fish (even discus) will bully them and stress them out.
