I found flights through skyscanner, and was prompted on that website to book through smartfares. I did and my flight was moved to 2 hours earlier in the morning. I was never informed of this change but found out when i put info into my app for travel insurance. Problem is my flight is to get my family home from an alaska cruise, and i now cannot get to the airport in time to make this flight due to the ship not coming into port until 7:30 am. smartfares did absolutely nothing for me- the referred me to the airline who told me that because i booked through a 3rd party they cannot change my flight to the next later one, or give me a refund. The price through smartfares was no better than if i booked directly through the airline. My point being-done waste your time or money with smartfares. They are useless.

I gave it one star because there are no negative stars. When I made the reservation, I did not realize that they charged an additional 90 dollars for the Add-on selection of seats. I put a lock on my card because of the mistake. I immediately called, and not even 5 minutes passed; I told them I did not notice that they charged an extra 90 dollars for selecting seats. They told me that they would remove it and that I would only pay for the plane ticket. Thirty minutes later, I saw that the airline tried to charge my card for the plane ticket plus the 90 dollars for seat selection that I asked to cancel. I called several times, and one of the customer services assured me they would only charge the air ticket cost. He told me that he was going to send an email to the ticket area, and I asked him how much they would charge me, which he assured me would only charge me for the air ticket. I unlocked my card, and they charged me 90 dollars extra for the seat selection. I explained to one of the customer service members that it wasn't what they told me in the last conversation. They told me that I shouldn't worry because they would refund me. I must send an email for the refund. I have to wait between 24 to 48 hours for them to respond. One even told me they were supposed to answer me no later than 2 hours. After several back and forths, they couldn't do anything. I just had to wait; others rudely hung on me on the call. At no time did they tell me how long the refund would take. And through a chat, they told me it would take between 7 and 14 business days. If I had known that ALL this was going to happen, I would have canceled the booking and kept my card locked until I received the cancellation notice. Your customer service is rude, and it has a lack of empathy.

Booking was great. I was a bit worried it took so long for my reservation to be updated so that I could open it in the app on my phone, though, and it's not clear which number I was supposed to input - the res code or the IA Rescode, which apparently is also the Booking Reference number. It would help if the same terminology was used in the online booking and the app. Thanks.

Answer: Yes. They stated because of flight increase they canceled my flights. Then they wanted me to pay a balance of what the new increase was. So disappointing. I paid for four fares. They took the funds from the bank n then canceled my flights.
