I recently reseved my ticket and I had to do it twice because after booked I only received a confirmation/ reservation, not yet the real booking. When I called they said the ticket was not longer available so they try to sell me a ticket at a higher price, obviously. I have never had this experience before, to me this means that they are only hooking you with a price but, reality you are going to ended up paying more, I do not know if they are breaking any DOT rule by promoting tickets but not honoring the prices. Like i said, I booked a ticket twice and they ended up cancelling both for the same reason, "NO LONGER AVAILABLE". I called the office and one of the rep hung me up and I called again and same thing, called again and all say the same thing over and over. Don't waste your time, if you see SmartFares is the agent stay away or go to another site.
They won't cancel your flights, make sure to call a customer service representative, not some verification rep to get your job done. Because when things go wrong. The customer is suppose to know how to make things right and talk to the right person, (they guy I talked to was the verification guy, to cancel my flight, he didn't even forward me to the right rep, and said he would do it. Spent 1 grand, cancel the next day, 12 days later I still have a flight with them, and they only refund me 760 because they don't understand what the word "NO" means. I fight for 1 hour on the phone, they record my phone logs, but have no record of me canceling my flight with them. So that's how they robbed me of 300. Never using this site again
Booked international flights for a family of 4 in January to fly in July and paid nearly $5k. Then the night before the flight when I was trying to check-in, I found out the ticket numbers they gave me were incorrect. Inorder to receive the new ticket numbers, smartfares charged me extra $329! Totally ridiculous!
Smart Fares is a dishonest company. I booked tickets to fly on Fijian Airlines, our departure flight from New Zealand to San Francisco was changed from 2:05pm to 2:50pm. The airline notified us about the change and instructed us to notify Smartfares. The agent at Smart Fares changed me an additional $157.00 per ticket for 3 tickets. When I spoke to another agent at Smart Fares after the phone was disconnected, the other agent informed me that there is NO fees for the charges. I then requested to speak to a supervisor who the agent insisted that I must inform him about my reasons to speak to a supervisor before I can speak to a supervisor. After making several attempts requesting to speak to a supervisor, I was put on a long hold, then was told that the supervisor will call me back which he never did. I called again to request speaking to a supervisor, the agent became arrogant with me and hanged up the phone. My next step is to call Fijian Airlines to find out if I was responsible to pay additional fees for their flight charges. I will post another review after confirming with Fiji Airlines.
FIJI AIRLINES RESPONSE:
Fiji Airlines confirmed that there is NO additional fees for time changes of flight time. I informed Smart Fares about Fiji Airlines response and Smart Fares decided to give me back a refund. Waiting to receive the refund.
Booked a ticket on a Friday, they did not issue the ticket, called on Monday they tell me the prices changed and they won't issue a ticket. Another agent tells me the airline cancelled the flight. They did not communicate with me so I can play accordingly. I won't recommend it.
Our flight to Maui was canceled by airline at the beginning of the Tragic wild fires, American refunded 100% of the fare to Smart Fares, but when we requested our fare to be refunded by Smart Fares, they refused to only return approximately 1/2 the cost as well as the original taxes paid.
We have contacted them numerous times without satisfaction, now the estimate time for the partial refund, we're told is up to 2 billing cycles … 2 months!
I've learned my lesson, never use them again, purchase ticket direct from airline!
All calls goes to India and they don't understand English very well. I had to change my booking couple of time and had to pay 600$+ extra which could be avoided if they would understand English. Don't recommend. I heard Hindi conversation in the background.

Answer: Smartfares! They will offer a deeply discounted airfare and send you a confirmation number to your email. The next day you will receive an email to call them immediately because they were unable to confirm your flight. When you call them back, they will try to sell you another flight at a much higher price. SCAM SCAM AVOID!

Answer: Yes. They stated because of flight increase they canceled my flights. Then they wanted me to pay a balance of what the new increase was. So disappointing. I paid for four fares. They took the funds from the bank n then canceled my flights.
