I went to shop for vinyl records and CDs at a local Goodwill and all I found was scratched up junk. I poked my head through the back door to ask a clerk when there might be new stuff put out and she said they had to go through it first and make sure nothing good gets put out on the floor. All the good stuff has to be sold online. Nothing worth buying is allowed to be sold in the stores anymore. But I notice the reviews for shopping online are horrible and they don't guarantee the condition of anything they sell. I used to love going to the Goodwill and looking for hidden treasures. It sucks they took that away from us.
Some of their shipping fees are outragious especially when adding high " handling" fees. Come on, $4.00 fee for a pair of earrings already overpriced? It's pathetic!
I did the auction won a few paid for 2 the next day they inactived my account so I couldn't pay for my other 4 orders and refunded my money for the ones I paid for.Is this legal? To pay for a purchase and they decide to send it and refund your money? And closed my account? You can l bid on something and watch it throughout the week, waiting until that last hour, and you can bid a little more if necessary and get the item you want. Goodwill will take that item and display it in front of customers just visiting their site to create more bidding. But when this happens with less than 10 seconds left in the auction there is never enough time to keep biding. The bidding should continue until there is one bidder left. I bid on a radio for $15.00 and with 9 seconds before the end of the auction a new bidder buys the radio for $16.00, without leaving enough time to keep bidding. I tried to add $40 more but no time left. "You're bid was not received", is displayed and the auction abruptly ends with a walkin/walkoff retail transaction. Why have an auction at all if anyone can get the item you want just by waiting until the last 30 seconds and get anyone's item WITHOUT PARTICIPATING in the AUCTION AT ALL. If I try to contact seller I get blocked,
Disrespectful treatment of many customers is a sign of Corrupt management. I really wonder where all there profits are going. Goodwill made about $6 Billion last year. AVOID SHOPGOODWILL try Ebay or Facebook marketplace. Goodwill doesn't give Refunds. Shipping prices for a stereo receiver can vary from abou $20.00 to $80.00 depending where I would buy from. Never Again...it's really a shame. Great people are donating great things only to have all these unresolvable problems.
The problem with Shopgoodwill is that they seem to have the same attitude about items sold at auction as the low-value items that are tossed carelessly on shelves and piled on the floor at the store. One would think that a rare piece of vintage electronics that a customer paid $2600 would be handled and packed with great care in-line with that purchase price. In my experience with four purchases, three of the items were shipped with laughable packing that I wouldn't have trusted to protect the item transported in my own vehicle. There is clearly no training or care for shipping expensive, fragile items. In addition to the shipping damage they received along the way, two items were covered in dust and spiderwebs and had scratches that were not shown in the auction pictures. It's as if the pictures were taken and then items where stacked carelessly on top of each other on the floor. One store was cooperative in offering a partial refund, but the others either denied they are responsible or were unresponsive. They don't offer returns and there is really no recourse for buyers who have had a bad experience. Make sure to use a payment method with buyer protection.
I won an auction on shopgoodwill.com and when i tracked my order it said it was delivered only the FedEx proof of delivery picture was a picture of someone else's house. I get that fedex is the one that misdelivered it however I did my part as a customer as my address was entered correctly and I paid for my order With an outrageous amount of shipping on top of it. When I messaged customer service they said i need to open a claim with FedEx And thanks for shopping with them. They promptly close my claim after that unhelpful message. They didn't even offer to open the claim with FedEx themselves since technically they are the FedEx customer not me. I have to take the time out of my day to open a claim that will probably never be resolved and it is almost impossible to get a human on FedEx support unless you ship massively and have a representative like this company most likely does. They didn't offer to refund or send new items to compensate or any type of solution or assistance just closed the case. If you are prepared to spend your hard earned money with no protection then this is the place for you. As they will not refund you or assist you if anything happens to your item in transit even though you paid and did everything right on your end. You will be out of your money.
To support the other experiences… ya, beware! They don't care! Items have been damaged during shipping! Lost in shipping (and Goodwill won't honor their responsibility)! No real humans to speak with, when customer needs more than 30mins of hitting options on the phone…. Only to tell you to leave a message. Left many, along with opening a ticket with my direct phone#…. NOTHING! Smells funny people! My trust just ain't there… sadly! Goodwill, HA! Good Luck! They don't offer good will, but they will take your money and a very, VERY long lunch break… calling out Northern AZ and Columbia Willamette! CORPORATE, YOU SHOULD LISTEN TO YOUR CUSTOMERS! I have purchaced several itmes and been over charged for shipping and handling. I am so sone. This evening i was chaged 16 dollars for shipping and 9 for handling after bidding after buying one broken necklace and one cross pendant from the same place. Im pissed. Im calling headquarters tomorrow. This is unfair business practices.
A year ago the site seemed to price closely to how the stores price items. Now they are competing with eBay prices or something. This isn't a reseller, it's a donation seller. They should not escalate the prices so high.
After years of shopping goodwill (Shopgoodwill.com) my account was inactivated because I complained of excessive shipping costs. They refuse to re-activate my account No Explanation given it just remains inactivated. That's just terrible customer service. Someone needs to be fired over there.
There's a systemic misrepresentation of items for sale for which no return of item is possible. See pic for example where listed as "tested, sounds good, small crack in woofer". I've been burned. I hope it doesn't happen to you.
BUYERS BEWARE! Multiple Stores are deceiving its customers on shipping cost by weight in the shipping estimate quote. Example: Item weighs 2lbs but shipping weight is listed with fed ex as 6lbs & when estimate shipping cost it is much much higher than what the stores are actually pay. But they keep the difference! When confronted they give the run around about passing the message onto a manager & that's the end of it..
I purchased a $6.66 book and I was charged 31.59 including handling and shipping. This was a book which could have shipped media for $4.99. There was no customer cooperation from them. Sent UPS, it still could have shipped for half if packaged correctly. Beware if the outrageous handling fees and shipping costs. Never buy a book or media on Shop Goodwill.
They posted a picture of a cross necklace. They showed this big picture. The necklace arrived and it was so small I could not even see the necklace. Shame on them. They will not let me return the necklace. I am disputing this charge with my credit card.
When did ShopGoodwill start charger so much for the items that are donated? Also the shipping fees are much higher than if you shipped it without corporate rates.

You used to be able to get some good stuff for relatively cheap, but not any more. Went online today, and was shocked at what they wanted you to pay. Some of the shoes were decently priced, at $4.99 - $29.99, but $17.99 for shipping, and another $5.50 for handling. Some of the stuff is more expensive then if you bought it new. I know if is for charity, but no one is going to buy overpriced used items. More than 3/4 of their items were not even bided on. Sad really.
I have gone from the biggest fan of Goodwill, to dreaming of the day when people just STOP giving them, anything.

Answer: If buyer got to leave their personal experiences with this company, they wouldn't exist in a year. They aren't going to risk that. Only honest sellers want their information posted for everyone to see. So don't expect it from Goodwill.
Answer: If you aren't using paypal or a credit card, there isn't much recourse. With paypal, the seller has to prove you received the item. If they can't, you will get your money back.
