The company has garnered significant criticism regarding its customer service and shipping practices, with numerous customers expressing dissatisfaction over exorbitant shipping fees, poor item descriptions, and inadequate packing leading to damaged goods. Many reviews highlight a perceived shift from a community-focused mission to a profit-driven approach, resulting in a loss of customer trust. While some long-time customers appreciate the variety of items available, the overwhelming sentiment reflects frustration with the lack of transparency, responsiveness, and support. This feedback suggests a pressing need for the company to reassess its customer service policies and shipping practices to enhance overall satisfaction.

They are trying to charge me 12 lbs for a purse. They scam on shipping and they are allegedly a non profit all they do is profit.
IN MOST CASES. THE SHIPPING IS THREE TIMES HIGHER THAN THE COST OF THE SOLD ITEM. 30-40 PERCENT OF MERCHANDISE IS INCORRECT SHODDY DAMAGED AND FILTHY DIRTY. SELLERS ARROGANT WHEN ASKED QUESTIONS. I SPENT TENS OF THOUSANDS OF DOLLARS WITH SHOPGOODWILL.COM. YET THEY TREATED ME LIKE A $#*!ED THREE YEAR OLD. OVERSEEING BIG BROTHER ADMINISTRATION RAKES IN TONS OF MONEY WITH A SINISTER GRIN. THESE GENIUSES GET THEIR MERCHANDISE FOR FREE. YET THEY INSULT THEIR GIFTERS AND BUYERS WITH GEORGE ORWELL 1984 CONDESCENDING ATTITUDES. SPEND YOUR MONEY AT MCDONALDS. NOT IN THIS BUSINESS GOTHIC HOLOCAST.
I recently won an athleta top that I purchased for $20, the pictures looked good, when I received it it had stains all over that were not seen in the pictures or mentioned in the description
I have found a lot of nice things priced very well on shopgoodwill but the shipping prices are grossly inflated at almost every individual seller. I have also noticed that keeping an item on a watchlist guarantees that you will get shill bidding on that item. I just won an item where the price rose by $12 in the last 30 seconds despite the fact that I was the last bidder. There were 2 other bidders that bid on the item the day after I placed it on my watch list, which was day 6 of a 7day auction, and strangely, the item was still priced at the $8.99 opening price even after the second bidder placed a bid. There were no other bidders after that until, as I said, I placed my bid in the last minute of the auction and inexplicably, the price rose in the last seconds. This was the the second set of an identical lot that I had won from the same location the previous day and it is quite obvious that the added $12 just about covered the loss they incurred by giving me combined shipping.
There are other scammy things I have seen on there and even a racist description of an item that was made in china. It was such an ignorant and offensive posting that should have been noticed by a supervisor or something and it led me to believe that some employees who make these listings can get away with stuff that is at the very least unprofessional and often from what I have seen, a total scam that no one will answer for.
I really used to like this site and it allowed me to buy things for my home that I would be otherwise unable to afford. I'm sure not all locations are conning people but enough of them are that you can get ripped off half of the time. Someone needs to help consumers when practices like this are happening out in the open and are tolerated or not questioned because they site represents itself as a charity. I seriously doubt that a place this crooked is interested in helping people and as of yet, there is no reliable way to make a complaint that will be heard by anyone that can help.

I saw they have 4 lots of items I wanted. I emailed they to ask if they could be combined. They said they could based on certain criteria including combined weight not being over 20 pounds. Fine. All were under 2 pounds. I checked and bid on all 4. Turns out they have a separate field for "Shipping weight" that was set at 16 pounds each, so I couldn't combine. They didn't tell me that in the email when they could have. When i asked if they could fix it, they gave me a pat answer and never acknowledged the misleading nature of their listing.
You will NEVER win an auction if you are the only bidder! All auctions are bid up by them! Period!
I have bought a lot of wonderful things from Shopgoodwill! Last week I bought a SMC Takumar 135mm v 2
The pictures are all out of focus and new platform does not allow you to zoom in to see wording on the products. When emailing them, the response is 'we have too many items and cannot give specific details' so everyone, know that you are buying blind. Unable to return for damages not shown in the pictures. Unethical way of selling online. I found exact item on ebay for 1/2 the price and at least the pictures are clear and you know what you're buying. I've been shopping for more than 5 years, and I have cut my purchases by 90% because of their new practices. I've also been shorted items on bulk purchases I was supposed to receive 12 only received 9 and when contacted, no response, they just closed the message. Shipping prices for a 1 lb item you're being charged for 25 lbs. when questioned, they blamed fedex.
Ok so they get items donated then list and sell for a profit. Their handling prices are crazy along with shipping. I bought a few things and then actually took them to my post office to see the price and they gouge you. They say they weigh everything...No they don't. Then they say that NO ITEMS CAN BE RETURNED...They say we describe items to the best of our ability. Here is one description: "Used." That's it... When you email them asking for specifics they now have a tag line they use: We are so sorry but the items you asked for are stored in our warehouse and we can't get the item out to photograph or look at. So you will have to bid at your own risk and remember there are no returns. I then found the number for two of the stores and called and spoke to the manager. They both confirmed after I pushed and pushed that there are no warehouses. Both items at the two different locations managed to finally get the items from the "back room". Neither item was bid on because BOTH were damaged. The prices are sky high. DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY...
They bid on their own items to drive up the prices. Very slow & high priced shipping. No feedback on any bidders, never really know if they're real bidders or Shopgoodwill employees. Customer service is very poor and response time is pitiful or nonexistent. Really believe they are taking advantage of the general public, especially when you consider they only sell free and donated items.
Cost me a little too much. Adding taxes on large shipping fees. I would shop for free or reduced shipping next time.
In 9 seconds a fellow bidder was able to determine my actual highest offer (which was not shown because of the bidding scheme) and bid 10 cents higher. An impossible feat unless they had a way to know what my actual high offer was (like from someone at Goodwill).
I purchased a doll and doll case. The item was dirty. But I realize that I am shopping at Goodwill. Be realistic - these are give away items that the past owners did not want. So do not expect first quality items to be purchased from this site. Set your expectations as if you were shopping at your local Goodwill. And remember you are giving to a good cause.
Be careful buying from them because if your $100 package is stolen they will not help you at all! Horrible customer service and I've bought many things from there before, never again.
We tried to help our community by donating items that we no longer needed. Only to see it go online for an outrageous price. We were so disappointed! We like to donate when we can just to share our blessing with others. Goodwill does not practice Good Will, they are in it to make a profit.
We have several thrifts stores in our area that help missionary work, and children we now donate to them. They keep our donations on site and don't price gouge people for items they got for free.
In addition to the sacrilegious shipping charges and subpar customer service, now bidding is futile due to the infestation of auction snipers who have taken over the auctions. It's now nearly impossible to win since those using the sniper software are able to see your max bid, and then outbid at the last millisecond to win.
I'm sure they don't care since they are getting their money regardless, but I'm done getting frustrated wasting my time pointlessly clicking the refresh button.
Goodwill disgusts me to the fullest, non profit my a$$! They auction the most hideous items and want an arm and a leg for better items. I wouldn't waste my time or $ on them. Greedy!
Purchased a few items. One thing I bought said they were diamonds, that they had tested them. They were CZ. I just received a pair of cowboy boots. The title said the brand of boots, I received a pair of boots with no name brand. Very cheap boots with plastic on the inside.
They are cheaters! I wouldn't buy from this site ever again. I don't know how they get away with this. Disgraceful!
Answer: It did not get lost they did not get the price they wanted for the said item so it's lost they will wait for a while and realist it under a different item number and raise the shipping price and bid price with the auto bods so they can get a higher price for the item
Answer: Well look at the salary of their CEO vs. The salary of the Salvation Army's CEO. That will tell you what kind of "non-profit" it is.
Answer: If buyer got to leave their personal experiences with this company, they wouldn't exist in a year. They aren't going to risk that. Only honest sellers want their information posted for everyone to see. So don't expect it from Goodwill.
Answer: If you aren't using paypal or a credit card, there isn't much recourse. With paypal, the seller has to prove you received the item. If they can't, you will get your money back.
