BUYER BEWARE. STICK TO AMAZON OR ANY OTHER COMPANY. This company's return policy is the following: Returns have a 20% restocking fee AND you can only exchange your cover once and within 30 days. The scam is that they only have a few sizes of covers. So when you get the wrong size the first time and return it they keep 20% of your money and if they replace it with the wrong size then you are stuck with it! Win/win for them, lose/lose for you. Here was my experience:
I used their selection tool online. How hard can this be right? You enter your exact car model and they send you a cover that fits your car... nope! I received a cover the was about three feet too short for my car. (See photo). So I called them. You then have to submit photos via email to show what's wrong, they send you an RMA, you return the cover. Then you have to wait for them to get your return and check your return. They finally sent me a replacement (process took about three weeks top to bottom). I happened to be out of town so I didn't have a chance to try it before 30 days when I did... the replacement they sent was long enough but now it was about 4 feet too narrow (see photo 2)! It's now been over 30 days since I received my replacement so I call them to see if they will make an exception since they sent the wrong cover TWICE and the guy says - not only will they not make an exception but even if it was within the 30 days my only option would have been to return the cover and have them withhold a 20% restocking fee. So that's how the scam works. Few cover sizes - they will send you a cover that hopefully fits ok but if it doesn't then you will either be stuck with a cover that doesn't fit or lose 20% of your money. So just look elsewhere. There are so many other options why deal with a company like this?
I ordered a cover for a 2009 polaris120. (A small kids sled). Seal Skin advertised a cover that would fit the polaris120 almost perfect. The pictures they post on their web site lead you to believe, your getting an almost perfectly fitting cover. What showed up was a cover for a full size sled. If I knew that's what I was getting. I would have gone elsewhere and spent half the money on a over sized cover. I've included a screen shot of the pic they provide of what you think uour ordering. And 2 pics of the actual cover I received.
They refuse to refund me, using the poor excuse that it's an international order.
They replied saying that it's expected that the cover may be as much as a foot to big. No where on their order page does it say that.
Buyer beware.
Theses guys are definitily crooks. Don't follow their guaranteed fit warrenty past 30 days. I had 4 covers and none fit. Last one product didn't even match the box tag. Went past the 30 day final sale now I'm stuck with them. Can't return them either. Which they charge a20% restock fee of their mistakes on non fitting covers. Look at the BBB score before you buy from this fraud company
I sent them all the information on my Bass Tracker. Size model etc. They rave about their 100% guarantee fit. They don't tell you it could take months to get that fit!
They don't even look at your size, I was sent a cover that was 2ft too big on all sides and very Bulky cover. When I told them it was no Problem send it back we will send another one. But they do not send it till they get yours back, then ship so every time you have to do that it's at least 3 weeks. Do you have that time to ship and receive till they get it right? They know, then when you ask for your refund because you don't have time to wait. They penalize you 20% even though it is entirely their fault. That's where they make their money.
Buyer Beware
I am upset with SSK because they charged me a restocking fee. I explained to them how the cover does not fit and offered to send pictures. They said I can return it and never mentioned via phone there will be 20 percent restocking fee. Read fine print somewhere. There covers can be off by a foot. Basically they are selling universal covers. Very disappointed! They know how to cover their own butt. Customer service is not priority.
I am extremely disappointed the cover I received was very flimsy and too small for my car. I got tired of going back and forth about it so I kept it. Now the cover is ripping from the sun and my attempt to exercise my supposed 10 yr warranty is being met with major opposition, I'm being asked for a SKU number that isnt present and bing yold that if I can't produce a SKU # I'll just receive a cover maybe the ssme size after I send them $35.00. I'm not comfortable sending money and just getting what they send me it may be even smaller! I would never recommend buying ANYTHING from yhis company the give a professional presentation in advertising and just the opposite when you try to take advantage of the warranty!
Like other reviews I read here I received a wrong size cover. Using their boat selector tool I ordered a cover for my 16' runabout with outboard. What I received was a cover that would fit a 17 or 18' stern drive boat. Massively wrong.
I contacted them for a replacement. Sent them photos and other info they requested. Received a case number from them and never heard from them again.
After several subsequent attempts to contact them regarding a refund I got my bank card involved.
Three months later, after my bank card credited my account I was contacted by Sealskin claiming they heard I was dissatisfied.
They asked me to return the cover, which I did. They did refund me, but minus a restocking fee.
Beware this unscrupulous merchant.
I bought a boat cover and after a couple weeks of using it, my boat had water in it. The cover itself is not waterproof at all. There was even water on the underside and a puddle had collected in the edge of the cover. They offered to replace the cover for $35, to which I said no because A: it obviously is a bad design since it is not waterproof and another one won't make a difference, and B: Why should I have to pay to get another one? When I asked for a refund, I was denied because I was beyond the 30 days allowed. I would not recommend this cover or company. Be careful, too, because they sell under several names/websites.
The customer service took my order incomplete in the first place. After a week of no updates, I reached out and was told that they don't have the color of the cover I ordered! I was then promised an expedite shipping because of the error by the customer service. After three days, still no update. Contacted them back and was told that they can't expedite the shipping and I will receive my tracking number by the end of the day. After three days, still no update. I had to call and request a cancellation of my order.
Bought this car cover from seal skin car covers for my 2010 Camaro ss. This was the cover they awnt me. It is ill fitting and loose. I am not happy with it at all.
I ordered via chat a boat cover for my four winns 328 boat which is 35ft long. It took about a month to arrive in Canada and i had to pay an extra 75$ duties... beware.
I opened cover on Oct 18th and attempted to cover my boat for winter. I was assured this cover would protect against a Canadian winter...
I began to install from front to back as it explains and the cover does not even get to the stern... it does not go down past the windows across the beam. It needed to be about 10ft wider and 10 feet longer.
I took pictures. Called the so called help line and had to put a ticket in.
I received an email. This morning... Oct 20th that because im an international order the company will not exchange or return it and I. Am. Stuck with a useless cover and now have to get boat shrink wrapped... which in hindsight I should have just done anyway.
I wanted to be environnementales friendly and have a re usable cover.
Shame on sealskin and im going to share this everywhere including my wife's social media where she has thousands of followers.
All you had to do was refund and or sendnme a new bigger one.
Have received a cover for a 1976 cadillac. Too small. Im out of luck as I did not put it on right away, being disabled I did not get help putting it on in time.
Sealskincovers.com is a SCAM. They sent me a completely wrong sized cover for my boat and then told me they couldn't supply a cover that would fit. They initially told me they would allow a return without the restocking fee as the mistake was theirs. I returned the cover and they charged me a 40% restocking fee. Sealskincovers do not reply to emails, when you call them they say they will deal with the complaint and then nothing! If you do get a reply, it is a boiler plate reply which says they are entitled to a 20% restocking fee. In short this company is a scam, they lie and defraud their customers and have zero customer service. Unfortunately I read the litany of consistently bad reviews after I had already tried to return the incorrect cover. Shocking to charge customers a 40% restocking fee for returning a cover which Sealskin covers had supplied wrong in the first place.
I purchased a seal skin cover for my boat. The website claims "Guaranteed fit". Well from my experience, the only thing Guaranteed is that if it doesn't fit you are stuck with what you got! They will exchange it but even after pictures and PowerPoint as to the problems with the fit they exchange it for one that has no chance of fitting. The second one they sent me was for a boat 26-28'. My boat is 21'. Needless to say, the cover reaches the ground in the back and the replacement still wasn't wide enough which was the problem with the one originally sent. After contacting them again, they responded with they have done all they could do and would not be exchanging the cover again. I could return it for a 20% restocking fee and half the shipping. They are a total scam. Their's way better options out there for boat covers. I would definitely avoid buying from Seal Skin. Oh, another thing... the material the covers are made in China from materials that, in my 30+ years of experience in boating, would not last a year of full time use. Good luck exchanging it in 6 months when it fails under normal use.
Car cover only lasted but a few years. Sent my warranty service payment. It took months before the replacement was shipped. When it arrived I tried to install it on my classic car and it was too short. Emailed Seal Skin and the stated "Wr are not responsible for ordering wrong replacement cover. There is nothing we can do" If your team member cannot read the year make and model from the info I provided how is this my fault! I had to order a new cover from different company. I will never do business with Seal Skin again.!
I worked with one of their reps. To make sure I was getting a cover that fit my truck. The cover I received did not cover my truck. I had to argue with them back and forth about the cover and all you will get is stock cut and past responses. They finally took the cover back and admitted they don't sell a cover for my truck but still wanted to charge me a restocking fee to take it back. Buy from a more reputable outfit. Their customer service is non existent.
I got a cover from them for my '69 Camaro. The cover was way too tight, so I wrote a note requesting to return it for a refund. I got a return label from them and shipped it back to them. I was clear from the outset that I wanted a refund. I didn't hear from them for 10 days from when the cover was confirmed as delivered. I sent them another note to request status. Nothing. I called and sat on hold for 40 minutes to get a person to talk to. They said that another cover was set to ship and I asked them to stop the shipment and process a refund. I've just received a message that my replacement cover has shipped (?). I'll be on hold with them again Today to try and straighten it out.
In short, if you get a cover that works for you from them, great. If you try and get a refund? Good luck...
They advertise custom fit that's bull crap. I ordered one for my 37 ford it came in and was 4ft to long contacted them and they offered I keep it with a 15% discount told them I wanted a refund they deducted 23.00 from my refund. Bunch of scam artists
Sent only partial order that didn't fit and then charged a 20% restocking fee for the privilege of being bale to return the wrong item.
Their web site talks about a great fit: "Seal Skin covers are designed to perfectly fit your car model. Whether a Sedan, hatchback, wagon, truck or suv - we guarantee you'll find a cover with a great fit at great price". You have to input your make, year, model, etc. Nowhere do they say these are not model specific covers. I heard about that after receiving a cover for a sedan when my car is a wagon. THEN they drop the other shoe and say they are not custom covers, which is what I wanted. I submitted photos of the poor fit, and it took days and days and lots of follow up to get a return authorization. They even told me that because I followed up with a second email that my case was moved to the back of the line to be handled. One month from order to refund, less a restocking fee. That nugget is buried in fine print. Give these guys a wide berth.
