They were running their special for Christmas this year, 2023. Rib-Eye roasts for $4.77.
For the FOURTH YEAR IN A ROW, I had to stand in line at customer service for 1/2 hour to get it at the correct price. They made all sorts of excuses that I didn't clip the digital coupon, or I didn't pick the right store or their app said I wanted delivery. I did pick the coupon, I did not want it for delivery and none of that should matter if the advertisement is for their statewide promotion price, which it is.
Every year I have to have them ring up the prime rib roast last to see if I get the advertised price and every year I don't.
I know most people don't get this bad about it, so I figure if they hit me for $75 this year and tried $120 last year. God knows how many thousands of dollars they are scaming from my city alone, let alone millions from the people in my state.
Safeway's regular prices are very high and stores are routinely out of stock of advertised specials. Safeway's website is slow to load, forces you to sign in repeatedly, and its rewards program isn't functioning. If Safeway is allowed to merge with Kroger, a bad situation will get worse, especially in markets like Denver where the two companies control most of the market. I complained that I couldn't browse my local ad and was told I'd be e-mailed when the problem was resolved; I never got that e-mail and a week later, my rewards account has been deactivated. I can't reset my password or establish a new account due to "technical problems". Very, very poor!
The Safeway app is poorly designed. It is difficult to load, locate, and edit discounts I have loaded onto my app. Why can't I delete old "For U" discounts and why can't I have all loaded discounts in my digital grocery cart? The poor design feels like it is purposely confusing and make me want to shop at a big box without all the confusing discounts.
Today I order groceries it was supposed to be delivered 5pm when it arrived was almost 7pm al my bananas as ripped and black smashed,my eggs more than 5 was broken

Representative are not helpful at all. Anoing and dismissive attitude. Phone calls are constantly disconnected by representative because they don't want you to leave at the end of the phone call bed servey. Not a good English. The company who is hiring them to hendel there clients complaints are paying for one big nothing as a service.
I have been scammmed multiple times at Safeway. They are in your face. It's almost robbery. I did an small online order to save time. Arrived at the store and the woman told me that I came to early. When I said, I will come
Back later then, she said: She will just cancel the order and can open another one. In order to upload my order I should put my cc in the card machine. When I did, she charged me again. So now I paid twice for same order and there will be too much in the register. My order supposed to go out free. After I left, what she will do is obvious, she changed the amount by a few cents less than a dollar to let it look I shopped twice. Before she goes home, she will have to take out the store charge and put in her pocket, otherwise they will have excess money. She told me there was no action necessary from my side. The second unpicked order will Just go automatically back to my account within 24 hrs. Of course it didnt: it Landed in her pocket!
I needed a a chocolate cake with white frosting for my grandson's birthday! Being a holiday weekend, it was difficult finding exactly what I needed. I had gone to Nugget and Raley's with no luck. I was getting worried, I may not find what my grandson wanted. When I went to Safeway on Folsom Blvd, I ran into the same problem. Ruzanna at Safeway offered to make one up for me, if I didn't mind waiting a few minutes. OMG! What GREAT customer service was that! Thank you Ruzanna! Safeway hires GREAT employees!
Even spending ab average of an extra 5 -10 minutes in line to review purchases they still find ways to overcharge us. How about $24 for a head of kale? We do our homework., come prepared with an electronic list and even grab a paper ad to make sure of prices. Still get overcharged! Even then customer services in the PHILLIPINES do not actually make the refunds they promise over the phone. If you shop SAFEWAY DO YOUR HOMEWORK AND BE PREPARED TO BATTLE IT OUT TO AVOID BEING GROSSLY OVERCHARGED.
I had the same trip frm Toronto to Quebec few yrs ago but this time we had an excellent experience. Sandy, our tour guide was the best in all aspect. I highly recommend Safeway Tours to anyone planning to take the bus tour. Very professional staff, good choices of hotels & restaurant. Very clean & comfortable bus. ** Safeway advertised AUGUST 23-29,2023 - Exclusive Digital Coupon, EXTRA JUMBO RAW SHRIMP 21-25 Count $4.97. Advertising wrong SHRIMP Count, Should be 16-20 Count, Safeway is Ripping Consumers off again, when I brought this to Safeway Management they refused to rectify to correct Shrimp Count Packages.
Extra Jumbo Shrimp Count is always 16-20 count and larger Shrimp.
Bill, Teresa and Ally are literally the worst. They are in a 3ring circus there at Safeway store. You complain and they never send in the complaints on another member of their team so they keep staying at the top. These three people treat other staff and customers like they are utter trash I've had it happen to me too many times to count and now the store is stealing money from y'all. Check your sales and receipts make sure you're getting the right prices.
Pirates is my nickname for these guys. I don't have much of a choice where I live so forced to shop here even though they do crap like make you navigate through their PIA app to get an ad price for strawberries and then don't give you that sale price. Happens way more than it should and I shouldn't have to check my receipt to make sure I get the correct price. You might suggest I watch for the price on the screen as they scan but therein is another issue, most of the time I have to bag my own groceries or stand and waste more time as the checker nonchalantly throws items in my bag. While I'm venting, I was going to buy a bag of potato chips but I had to buy 2 to get 2 free to receive the $2 savings. I don't need 4 bags of chips and I wasn't about to pay the inflated price of $4.49 for one bag. Pirates!
Safeway has convenient locations with okay pricing. The app is a little tricky to use sometimes and I wish the sale price would just be automatic without having to click it in the app. Still like shopping at Safeway better than Walmart.
I order on line to pick up groceries. The people who work there are very nice. Last time I received an order of organic carrots that were very old. The Toby's dressing I ordered I discovered when home was out of date and spoiled. Their organic butter has added natural flavors. Their organic yogurt has additives. In terms of the dressing there is no way to report it unless I go into the store. I go to drive up because I have a bad back and prefer to pick up items. As an aside it is a very good service. But Safeway itself is to me an inferior grocery chain.
You think you're buying a product that might be somewhat good for you on the scale of natural and healthy, you read the ingredients and realize that it's not just peanuts with a little tiny bit of salt the dry roasted peanuts have sugar in them. Why? I was disappointed in flavor and they gave me an upset tummy.
Quit gouging shoppers with your high prices. No one eats your food because it's like dumpster diving. Safeway's food has always been terrible yet they continue to gouge shoppers. They are disgusting. Shop anywhere but here. Teach them a lesson by us hopping in better stores or ordering your food online. This has nothing to do with inflation and everything to do with a greedy corporation gouging shoppers. The nerve to charge these exorbitant prices for food that could be found in the dumpster. I only shopped here for cheap I can food but now they've raised the prices on that. What a greedy nasty company.
I have been shopping at Safeway for years. And I almost always use self checkout. They must have done an update to their self-checkout system. The last 3 times I have been in, it has needed approval from the self checkout clerk after I scan about 3 items. It yells at me the put my item in the bagging area or scan my item even though I have and the clerk comes over and views everything I have done only for it to happen again after I scan a few more item. It appears the scales in the bagging area are much too sensitive. I sneeze, I need approval. Is lightly brush bagging area, I need approval. I mive items in the bag slightly to make room, I need approval. There is now no way to get in and out of Safeway quickly. I will be taking my business elsewhere. Long lines, long waits and now self-checkout takes longer than waiting in line for a cashier? And you treat me like a criminal to boot? Bye Safeway.
Went to Burlingame Safeway and asked a courtesy clerk for the bathroom code and he said he didn't have it. I asked him to get it for me and he said no and walked away. His name is Alexander. I have never had such a rude experience.
I just signed up and started Fresh Pass membership. Other than one unprofessional representative not to say nasty - who told me I "didn't have an account" after I provided the same phone as I did to all other prior agents -most of them are very customer minded. Although I understand each one of you, because I myself just experienced similar situations trying to find items and lots out of stocks and expected order be deliver between 8-9 am when I am just 5 min from the store, I got delivered 4 hours later. I start my day with Yoghourt to feed my good bacteria before eating anything else, I spent time between working and calling customer service. I am vegetarian AND eat organic foods while avoiding artificial preservatives or anything with gluten or salt or sugars which is difficult in US compared to Europe where I travel on business until pandemic hit stopping me from bring good stuffs like real bread/dark pure cacao chocolate, crackers... with minimum sugars or salt if not at all. Without foods in stomach, from 5 am when I start work in different time zones to finish sometimes after midnight, I must admit I was ready to cancel my membership when I got a very professional and customer- focused professional in MJ (that's her name), MJ logged a ticket while tracking the DOORDASH driver AND the store manager called. Out of 5 orders, even though some previous items were of poor quality like bad Gala organic apples which safeway refunded, the last order with yoghourt that was delivered late and messed up my day was following the Murphy's law of when things go bad they must all go bad. However, other than few bad apples (speaking of the expression) including that one NOT so friendly agent, I decided to keep my membership and give Safeway a chance. Safeway is trying, just look at other stores, they forced us to go through instacart who are expensive and have all the extra fees while safeway is using doordash and trying. As a consultant, and I know they're doing survey, I would Safeway use all the comments and feedback from each one of you and I would ask you to be patient with the delivery service. I am confident listening, as Safeway is doing to the best of its abilities getting client input, it a sign they're going in the right direction. I know some managers at instacart take customers for granted. I tend to trust until you prove me wrong, some may disagree with me if you more suspicious at start. I think Safeway is different. Let's give Safeway a chance for offering delivery to us at a good cost and being listener for listening helps solve 50% of the problem in my opinion. Answer: There is hardly any customer svs at this store. It sucks the staff seem really unhappy and miserable.
