You'd think they'd know how to port a cell phone number, but they don't. I lost my job and I desperately need free cell phone service. I need to keep my cell phone number because it's on my resume. I still have cell phone service with the other provider because my son still has service with them. So the account is still open and active. That means the account number is the same. I even provided proof of the account number from my other cell phone service and they rudely and ignorantly kept telling me it's wrong. They are unbelievably rude! I couldn't even get a new cell phone number with them. They're way too busy and obsessed with insisting that my account number from my current cell phone provider is wrong. They're unbelievably rude and have the worst customer service ever!
Trying to get hold of a live person at SafeLink Wireless
All I get is bot menu and chat, no email, no options to talk to a live person. I like to update my plan, but I have some questions that need to be answer first.
Have been a customer of SafeLink wireless for about 17 years they a bye far the best company for the government phone an minutes. I give them a 5 star review because they have most definitely earned it great customer service an service all the way around. Give them a try u want be disappointed I promise.
Most of the time I don't get a signal even when using wifi or mobile data to make calls. Very unreliable service.
SCAMMERS they don't understand English they won't let you speak to a supervisor to get paid for a service they don't even provide that's called fraud they promised a replacement phone but they lied about that too
I have been waiting for hours for an agent to call back for customer support. I can not access my voicemail. Voicemail wants my 10 digit phone number to which it responds that I have an invalid mailbox. I hope to get this resolved eventually.
I have been trying to help an 82 yr old disabled vet get a phone he can depend on. He qualified for lifeline since he is disabled and Safe Link was recommended, i am sure now that all of the positive reviews i was reading were bots, this is absolutely disgusting, I started in September of 2024 to get a sim sent to him so he could keep the phone he had, after never receiving a sim 4 different times they said they sent it, I had a friend at the Post Office look up the tracking # for me and they never shipped any of them, 6 weeks of wasted time and hours and hours on the phone with them. I finally opted to get a new phone and Safe Link Customer service told me to make sure it was a track phone,?, so i did and finally at the end of November of 2024 he had a working phone. Now January 4,2025 the phone wont make calls or Txt and I can not ever get into the account because they claim the phone he has been using for a month is not the right phone number and they can not verify his account #$**!
On 8/5/2024, I started working with them to get my sim card inserted and the phone activated. The sim card worked and the phone had the 4G and bars. For the next 3 days, they went over and over again with the same process even though it didn't work for the previous representative. I told them that and they started to get hostile with me. Melissa called me stupid, I said enough and finally contacted them back to cancel my application. I've never been called stupid before, and I didn't understand not allowing me to speak with technical support. The biggest frustration was not being understood. I ask a question, they would respond with something that made no sense to me. I would say that is not what I was asking you. I have such a headache now that I couldn't get phone service from them activated. When I called to cancel, I said you aren't going to ask me why I'm canceling a service that was never activated, never started? The representative let me know she didn't care at all. I have a phone number everyone and never got to use it. Really, if you want a headache and super frustration, contact SafeLink, I feel sorry for anyone and I mean anyone and everyone that has to deal with them. The Supervisor didn't care at all to try and help when I ask for help with them. I got some of the same treatment from Assurance Wireless when I reached out to them to have Benefit transferred. They hung up in my face and didn't understand me at all.
Safelink is a subsidiary of Tracphone Wireless, and is used ONLY with the Lifeline program... or so I recently discovered.
I had Lifeline service for the past 9 years or so through Safelink without too many complaints... but with the recent addition of the Affordable Connectivity Program, and subsequent (even more recent) closure of that program, something is amiss.
I had to re-certify this month (May 2024), and did so, I was approved and believed everything was good. I even got the typical first of the month text message from Safelink thanking me for being a valued customer... 7 days later my Safelink account was closed without warning or notification of any kind. I contacted customer service, explained the issue and even added a minor service card to my account to cover any delays during their issues with verification. The next day my account was closed, and the added service right along with it. Contacting customer support was useless except to verify to me that the money for adding additional service was a waste and was essentially gone (unless I re-enrolled with Safelink, at which time they would add the additional minutes to my Lifeline account. As we all know, Lifeline is free, additional minutes would expire in 30 days, meaning the money was still wasted, for literally no reason). I would have to had gotten Tracfone Wireless service, essentially making a new wireless account and paying it, for my phone service to remain active during the delay... or so they told me on that second call.
I immediately went to the Lifeline service website and changed my provider. I will never use Safelink again, and coupled with the other reviews here, I would suggest that you don't even consider this company. Tere are others.

Worst customer service ever. If you are even able to get through to an agent they either can't resolve the issue or they hang up on you.
Customer services center is located in the Philippines. You can tell they are strictly going by the script. No matter how many times you explain to them for you to transfer to another department since you've already spoken to them that handled the issue since CS couldn't, still CSR will not transfer and tries to fix the issue and waste 30min of your time again. Language barrier was my first concern but their lack of comprehension and explanation that i've already been speaking to another department and wanted to immediate transfer so we don't waste time they still won't comply insisting they can fix the issue. Customer service is their weakness and i'm not against outsourcing employment in foreign countries but atleast let them know their role and they need to freshen up with their english comprehension.
I qualified and got a sim card from them. I intended to keep my phone and phone number. I have been through hell for the past 5 days, after talking to about half the population of India, and countless hours I have no data and no phone service. Do not use this company, you will regret it!
Stay away from Safelink. Customer service does not exist. Finally got ahold of live person. Wanted to know what numbers i call frequently as a security question. Asked to speak to a Supervisor then she hung up. I was recently scammed out of $500
Safelink wireless is total garbage with customers service and phone service I was on lifeline with them for not even a month before they canceled my service without an explanation. Be aware people. I'm happy with the provider I have now is so much better all around. If it gave me the option safelink wouldn't get a star.
SafeLink I like SafeLink they are so helpful and friendly their phones are a whole lot better product they have name brand phones they don't break down.
Had been their customer for 4 years. They disconnect you on the pretense that you overused your assigned 360 minutes/month even you make a one or two calsl monthly. They squeeze money from you any way they could. Joseph Zacharow
I called in for a request of a replacement phone due to the old phone broken, as doing so on October 12th, I have spoken to two customer agents and a manager who all stated I would be eligible to receive one within 3-5 business days, it has now been 3 weeks and with misunderstandings of the phone not being in the warehouse or the shipment date has been delayed, I am to find out later as I check in my status that the phone is not on delivery route, I spoke to warehouse manager and they said I needed to return the defective phone in order to receive the replacement which not one agent mentioned before until today for some reason, Safelink management said that UPS has picked it up just yesterday, I asked for ways to get a phone in faster and they had stated it's in UPS care, to " call them and find out, that I shouldn't worry, it should be in sooner rather than later" 5 weeks later they estimate I'll receive the phone, to be patient and they're sorry.

I encountered a bunch of rude nasty customer service agents at SafeLink who hung up on me several times I have it recorded but the files too big to upload. They lied to me on several occasions telling me a phone would come to me after they received it due to it being shipped to the wrong address. It was supposed to be reshipped to me on the 15th they kept telling me I had to wait 5 to 10 days for it and it would never show up then they kept telling me that they guaranteed it would come one day or another day and once again it would not be here. All the while they were talking to me with an attitude and disrespect to the last point the One customer service agent actually told me he was a supervisor oh yeah they all were supervisors he said to me that I can go buy a phone if I didn't want to wait five extra days after being told it would be here Monday and today's Tuesday. Then he says that they will call me back and ask me for a number that they can reach me back on just to turn around and say he didn't say that. And that was after I reminded him that he did. I let it go and said so should I call back in 5 days and he said that's what I said. I said why are you being so rude and sarcastic I said that's poor customer service would you talk to your boss like that. He tried to explain he was just giving me some information that if I didn't like waiting for 5 days I can go purchase one. And if you would have heard how he said it. And yes he ended up hanging up on me. And even called me the wrong name he called me Cindy while faking like he could not hear me repeating it a couple times before he hung up.
My mother is on disability and thought about getting a phone so these people assured her a thousand times, a thousand ways it would in no way effect anything about her bills going on. What a lie. Now her internet is canceled because they failed to say that as government programs you must choose one or the other.
Answer: SCAM! After giving them ALL my personal info I fond out they are over seas! And I never got any kind of service from them! Don't do it!
Answer: It is aweful! And once you so finally get a "human" you can't understand a word they are speaking! Because they are not in the United States!
Answer: If I remember right I had my phone for 3 months when I got a letter in the mail saying I qualified for my phone unlocked. I think I had to go through my account on line to unlock it. Check there and see if you see anything pertaining to that. If not maybe call troubleshooting and ask them. Word of WARNING if you are getting a free phone like I was they shut you off anytime and claim you don't qualify. Not sure maybe they get more government money for every phone they send out. I was shut off and reapplied and had a new phone and new number not even a month and was shut off again. No rhyme or reason and claimed they couldn't find my account. Good Luck
Answer: Honestly? Because they don't know what they are doing. I've been on the phone with them for 22 1/2 hrs and I have to call back tomorrow and try again because it's late and I tired. And I spoke to supervisors. Pathetic.
