My dog walker is fantastic, but everything goes through their 4th class web site. I constantly have problems logging-in. Resetting the password is impossible because the link sent to my e-Mail never works. The only way to contact Rover is to sign-in. It's like a dog chasing its tail. Ironically, I was just trying to sign-in to contact my dog walker to add a third day each week, which is more money for Rover. Clearly, Rover doesn't want to make money. While I want to support the service providers, Rover is not the means to hire them. Goodbye, Rover, I'll hire another dog walker from another web site. You lose!
Please Run And look the other way if you see a sitter from Hamilton name Jesse she abuses dogs. My dog came home hungry dehydrated and dysfunctional I reported to rover the did nothing
RUN RUN!USE ANOTHER COMPANY!
Ther SâŹCK!
Horrible! Canceled twice on me once when I was getting ready to leave for Hawaii. For their sorry they gave me a $250 credit which I was just going to use to go back to Hawaii, they took that away! Stay away from this
Rover has in place a method to report incidents. However, my wife, to provide the best service she can to the customer and the platform, has reported any little incident. Little things like behaviors from animals or things where the animal plays too rough and hurts another dog or child. Then when we had a big issue arose ( our kitten was brutally attacked by a dog and he had to be rushed to the vet er). They then started an investigation into why we had so many incident reports. Then without truly digging into each incident, they made the call to just close our account. So now my wife, who loves animals almost more than humans, is barred from using the app at all. SO, my warning to the reader. If you do become a rover sitter. DO NOT REPORT ANYTHING. Just take precautions as best you can and if something happens, just handle it. ROVER DOES NOT CARE FOR YOU AS A HUMAN. They see you as a number. A risk that needs to be assessed. I am unhappy with their treatment of my wife. They have these methods in place to report things but do not truly want you to use them or they will punish you by closing your account.
Maybe its my area but i worked so long to try to ge tthis bavkfround check just for the app to be lame and confusing. Many other services have cheaper background checks & a way easier platform for future walkers. If ur thinking/contemplating the background check this your sign TO NOT PAY FOR IT. Find another side hustle please.
This was a terrible experience. I had 2 other 'iffy' experiences with other Rover sitters
My animals were distressed.
I explained to Rover in multiple emails to which they did not respond, the details of how i found my animals and my home. I also explained that i didn't want to leave a bad review for fear of retaliation and that Rover should interview other customers especially those that don't leave reviews.
I asked Rover several times using their directed emails *******@rover.com and *******@rover.com to learn how to leave a formal complaint describing what happened, I can't bear others' pets being vulnerable to this.
I don't believe Rover vets their sitters well and I also don't believe they have good control over their review system.
Thank goodness my time away was brief.
She's incompetent and unstable! She kept my dog for 5 days, the 4th night she called me while on vacation to let me know my dog was attacked and his back was scratched by another small dog she accepted to sit. On the 5th day I was 1 hour late responding to her email about picking up my dog ( I was still in flight), by the time I responded she informed me she had already taken my dog that she's been sitting for 5 daysâ to the local animal SHELTER because of an appointment she had. She also stated Rover told her it was ok to do so.This person would not tell me where my dog was told me to leave her alone and contact Rover?!? I had to continue driving and calling and finally found my dog. The clerks there said she ran in frantic said she found this dog at Academy in the parking lot and ran back out. My dog has been traumatized by this woman, shaking, panting, very anxious when we picked him up⌠from the shelter! I spoke with Rover reps they were great taking the info etc and sympathetic but I want something done that will impact this sitter because this is unheard of.Reputation precedes everything so I'm letting who ever will listen know about Elidett Molina in Texas who refused to return my dogs bed, blanket etc until I got a police escort to make her open the door. Coward⌠and have the nerves to pet sit
My sitter let me down once telling me she was going to be four hours late and expected me to find a replacement when I was at work driving a bus. Then she failed to show or message one night and my dog was left alone for 10 hours. She made some terrible excuse and when I told her I was going to find someone else she kicked up a fuss like she had done nothing wrong and she refused to return my key. I had to change all my door locks and Rover didn't give a crap.
I hired a sitter on Rover. I left early for a short vacation and by 9PM hadn't heard from them. I tried texting and calling. Nothing. Anything could be wrong - an accident, who knows. But I didn't know if anyone was taking care of my 16 year old dog for the last 14 hours. So I called Rover. They tried to reach the sitter - I think they had trouble but I wasn't sure. I told them all I need to know is if the sitter is there and if my dog is ok. I pleaded with them to go over to my house and check. Rover would have none of it. Instead they sent me an offer for $20 on my next booking and told me they aren't responsible for the sitter. Never have I experienced a company being so inhumane. Mind numbing blind greed, pure stonewalling bastards, who would not do the obvious and responsible thing to make sure a dog and or sitter were OK. I blasted them with profanity, but nothing mattered. Their $20 offer told me they were pure greedy scum. The company has no moral compass and should be trashed with fanfare.
I signed up, got a confirmation, they took the money from my bank, then no sitter and no reason why, and noway to communicate with them. One star because I could not choose no stars.
My dog is apparently "drugged "! Rover wants you to "jump through hoops " just to make a complaint! I am a retired Police Inspector, a Clinical Psychotherapist, etc. Dont trust ROVER
Ive used it for months. I get lots of clients and clients seem happy with it. Overall id say it works great.
I've had nothing but problems with them for the last year. I attempted to book someone who I felt was less than ideal for my pup so the booking was never finalized. She showed up at my door anyway and was angry when I turned her away! My last walker tried to tell me walks "increased to $40 around the holidays per Rover's policy". Rover said there's no such policy, if you start out at a certain rate through a walker, it stays at that rate, no matter what. Then I booked her for 2 walks on a day but got home early and I gave her the option of going through the evening walk or postponing it to another day. She declined both stating that she wanted to "save me money." And charged me a cancellation fee. Again she claimed this was per Rover which again they denied stating that the walker put in for the charge. Then one Saturday I worked a long day in which I required 2 walks for my pup and was charged 4 times. She submitted twice for the 2 walks that week. It took a lot of hair pulling to get my money back and I still think I was ripped off. But I talked to a rude as hell customer rep who threatened to hang up on me 3 times when I asked to speak to someone else. These calls are supposedly recorded and I can only hope that he was reprimanded! Then this walker tried to charge me twice for our weekly walk by saying, "I don't see it submitted this week. You'll probably have to go in and accept it again." This was for a Friday walk and she texted me Thursday evening at 5:30. I was charged that Monday for it. When I told her this, she said, "Oh, it just went through, now I see it." Early on in our relationship, she told me, "You don't have to go through the app. You can pay me cash and avoid the service charge. I have my own insurance." I'll text it to you". I never received any insurance information. My advice is to avoid this service at all costs!
Rover is not a safe site. There are too many bad sitters and they are not properly monitoried. Many of them are in it for the money and are manipulative- saying exactly what you want them to say. My sweet dog Persephone has been missing for 4 months because of a selfish, immature sitter. This sitter promised she could meet my dog's needs and I trusted her. Only a few days later she lost her in the middle of the night claiming that the brand new durable leash I bought her snapped. It's insane how much money she was making and she didn't even take basic care of my dog and because of her my baby is gone. Then she had the audacity to blame the situation on my dog. She took no responsibility. She blocked me and did nothing to search for her. It's not worth it. There may be some good sitters but you won't know if you have a bad one until it's too late.
I have used Rover in the past with no issues. I hired a sitter for 16 visits over 8 days. Her name was Steph. Out of 16 visits she showed up 4 times and sent her husband the rest of the time. #1 I would not hire a man to take care of my dog, nor be in my home while I'm away. #2 He was more interested in staring at his phone than interacting with my dog. #3 I complained to Rover who has done nothing about this issue and said its between me and the sitter. I disagree, I don't care what their relationship is contractually with the sitter. I PAID ROVER FOR THE SERVICE. NOT THE SITTER. Don't think I will ever use them again.
I am leaving this review on behalf of my friend, She went to Houston... before doing so of course she reached out to this app which she had full faith in. She found a sitter, confirmed and paid. Not even 30 mins goes by she gets a call from a random person stating they found her dog on the side of the road HIT WITH A BROKEN LEG... not even the sitter notified her... do not trust this app. The ppl on here do not care for pets they are just looking for a quick buck. Its sad...before you say i am not a USER of this app your right i am not.id gladly place proof of the vet bill if needed...STAYYYYY AWAY FROM HERE!
Jada Williams Worcester MA was a vetted sitter thru Rover. Our usual family sitter was not available, so we used Jada, big mistake. First off, she has 2 prior shoplifting arrests and 2 prior incidents with Rover (theft) twice, once in February and again in August and she was still able to watch my dogs in my house. When we returned Sunday night, we quickly realized we had been robbed of old cell phones, laundry detergent, food, cash, towels, credit cards, gift cards. We contacted local PD and they already knew who she was. We have her on video rummaging thru the house and she still has the audacity to say "It wasn't me, i didn't do anything" crying the victim. All this proof and ROVER says they will not compensate us for lost or stolen items or damaged property. DO NOT USE ROVER! Join the fight against them on social media and use hashtage #RoverOut to get Rover out of your state, city or town!
I have tried a few different Rover pet sitters. With one lady my dog came home with his fur full of burs. It took hours to pick them all out. Another lady lived in a one-bedroom tiny townhouse. She had a 12'x12' patio yard out back all dirt and no grass. She had 5 large dogs when we got there! I hesitated to leave my dog but was leaving town and didn't have enough time to find someone else. Shame on me for not pre-screening her! When I picked him up, the monogramed blanket he sleeps with was torn literally to shreds! The lady apologized and said she didn't see it happening. That means that she wasn't watching the dogs! Did she leave 6 dogs alone in that tiny space with no supervision? What if one of the dogs injured or killed my dog? Never again! I will never use Rover again and don't recommend it to anyone.
Used this platform a few times. All three sitters were nice enough but not really willing in the end to care for our dogs the way we would.
And I don't know if this is common, but all three houses were not clean. Never made us feel like the people watching our dogs really had their own lives together.
The last straw for us was when we left two perfectly healthy pets with a sitter for four days and they both came back sick. One with an upper respiratory that took weeks to heal.
Not impressed with this company at all.
I confirmed at 9:15am on the day of my reservation to meet with sitter. She agreed to meet dog and get instructions at 12:45. At 9:45 she texted she was too sick ( not sure what happened from 9:15-9:45) but now my dog will be home from 3:00-10:30pm since we are attending our daughter's wedding. I'm sure the sitter will be having a good time as well. Deleting Rover app.
