Wanted to sign up as dog sitter, but have not been accepted since I do not have a photo of me showing with a dog or on a mountain. I uploaded a normal profile picture of my face and that I would think is sufficient, in addition I do not feel comfortable providing this many photos to a random tech company that seems to function like a airbnb for pets.
No thanks, I'd rather offer my services directly from citizen to citizen without a tech company making me feel like a criminal.
*******@rover dont wanna do the right thing and refund my money I'm gonna bring this matter to social media. One thing I'm not gone play about is my dog or my money. I dropped my dog off to a sitter this Sunday and he was due for pickup Wednesday but I extended the stay till Thursday night. Instead of me picking him up Thursday night I contacted the woman to see if I could pick him up earlier because of the winter storm and sleet being on the roads. She told me she wasn't even at home and that was the first red flag. So I had to wait on her to get home. When I picked chase up he was shaking and trembling like he was traumatized. I put him in the car in the backseat and he stood for about 10 minutes. Usually he looks out the window or lays down. I literally had to pull over and put him in my lap for the whole ride home to calm him down. Once we got home I seen he had 2 rashes on his penis due to her putting a diaper on him for 5 days straight without my permission. He also was scratching non stop and rubbing his back on the carpet and against anything to itch it. He had been around multiple dogs so I didn't know if he had fleas or what but before I sent him to the sitter he had a flea bath and wasn't itching. He also came back very dehydrated and kept drinking his bowl empty in seconds. I tried to report it and rover told me I had to spend $250 to even file a claim. Why do I need to spend money to get my money back? Wrong is wrong. This lady did what ever and god knows what to my dog and y'all not doing enough. I took him to willowbrook Petsmart and they can even vouch for me that his skin was definitely irritated from whatever she had in her house and his private area was red and irritated. It was more red on his private area but we put medicine on him the first day he came back to try and help.
I booked a few services due to platform for my puppy. When I pick my dog up, the sitter alerted me that my dog had been scratched in the eye by one of his dogs. His left eyelid was bloodied in the corner. I took my dog to the vet the next morning. I was told that they needed to do a staying to see if the cornea was scratched. Thank God it wasn't. I submitted the documentation to Rover to be reimbursed. They played games for five months: "we didn't receive your documents," "we received your documents and you can expect payment," "we didn't receive your documents," and "we have received your documents, and your claim doesn't qualify." They stated that the reason for denied my claim was that the diagnosis indicated on the vet records was "pinkeye." Why in the world would I go through the trouble of taking my dog to a hospital for an injury under the guise of getting his pinkeye treated? He is under a PetSmart wellness plan; therefore, it any, visits for non-emergency issues are covered under this plan. They did not ask for more information or for me to have my that provide specifics or more information on the visit. Please stay away from Rover because there is no guarantee that your pet will be kept safe for that Rover will cover the bill. Please use this company at your own risk, because from what I'm reading, I'm happy to have my puppy back alive.
Rover refunded $206 of $522 paid to them for no services. We gave them 24 hour notice at a time of year when the job could easily be refilled, many many people looking for sitters. We had to cancel a family holiday when a boosted family member contracted Covid and we could afford the health risk to another pregnant family member. When called, Rover told us the refund was up to the dog sitter--absolutely untrue, she could not reach them either and was more than willing to refund our money. Later when I went back on the Rover site to lodge a complaint the chatbot told me that Rover requires a full week to cancel or you only get refunded half. We did not even get half of when we paid. I am sure the dogsitter got nothing.
I've used Rover in the past, and was satisfied with sitters and rates. I just booked a week that includes President's Day. Rover doubled the sitter's rate for all 7 days of the stay, not just the actual day of the holiday. Very unfair.
We booked and paid for our sitter three weeks out and confirmed with here the day before. I texted to say we were on our way and she responded perfect. We got to her place and I texted to make sure it was the right apartment building because the numbers were not well displayed and she texted back and asked us to leave saying she wouldn't be coming. We flew out first things in the morning so I started a support chat with Rover who did not respond until later the next day after we had left town. They say 24/7 support but they don't mean it. If it hadn't been for our friends we would have had no where for our dog. Rover sent a form response and offered Ilya 20 dollars off outlet next booking. That is no help. They sent an email asking if I was happy with their response. I told them no and explained the situation and never heard from them again.
I have used Rover 2 times and both times the service was far below par. On the second attempt the sitter told me she would be there 4 hours before the apt. It was my sons wedding we were out of town and she pulled a no show. I honestly would not use Rover if you don't have a plan B in place. Tim

Hi Tim,
Ashlyn sent you a message about the stay for Molly and Mackie from 01/15/2022 to 01/16/2022.
Ashlyn says:
Ok
Do not use these guys. You will see they lost or killed a ladies dogs. And have given no information. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY
The Rover system forced me to book one 3-week booking as 2 separate bookings in order to avoid getting overcharged for holiday fees. By doing so, I was charged their $39 service fee each time. Then one of my pets got sick and I needed to add medical visits to the existing 3-week booking. Guess what, no way to update the existing reservation with the new info, so they charged me another $39 in fees. I escalated twice to their service department, who then admitted their system had limitations but told me there was nothing they could do about it and they weren't going to reimburse me. Sounds sketchy, greedy, and ridiculous. No thanks! I'll work with sitters directly so that Rover gets NOTHING for a sitter's hard work.
Before the covid-HOAX outbreak paid over $300 to take care of my dogs for 1 night and 2 10 hour days... No-over nites... Talked to brenda, the sitter in vegas, many times and rover gives a BOGUS phone number to operate under... Vegas shut down, told brenda I want my money back,,, she never paypaled me it back and rover would never even respond... My Air BNB was no problem! Rover is a COMPLETE SCAM... brenda even said shed be at the gym both mornings for an hour or 2 and leaving my dogs UNATTENDED! WILL NEVER do anything with F-in rover as they ARE DOG$#*!!
I had never heard of Rover previously until we recently required the services of a pet sitter.
Rover made the process smooth and easy.
Sitters cancelled on me twice, one 8 hours before i was supposed to fly both with lame excuses. The difference in price between those two sitter because of the last minute cancellations was $150 but rover offered $20 to compensate. Thats why they get one star. They need to take more responsibility for the people they allow to advertise on their as its me who has been completely out of pocket. They also return your money within 10 days so I ended up paying out close to $600 and hadn't received the service then had to wait close to 10 days. Not really fair that they dont return the money immediately, the whole service shows they just dont care.
Hired a sitter, paid and she confirmed night prior. Morning of, no call no show. They couldn't even reach her. They said they would call me back no later then 830. They didn't. I eventually called them back. They have me a 20 dollar credit if I rebooked with someone else same day. It was past time for us to make it family Christmas party. Had to cancel. Won't use again
I worked for Rover for 3 years it was good up until I dealt with a difficult client. I did a meet an greet and both of her animals were on the platform. When I went to care for the animals only the dog was on the platform not her cat. I called rover and they refunded the client the old booking and did a new booking with the cat and dog on the platform. I told the client she was being difficult. She said your only feeding my cat. Rover covers me if anything happens. Then her son got involved and made threats to me. I no longer wanted to continue the care due the threats. Rover put my account on hold and I can get any more work. I work rover full time. I have regular clients. Now I'm stuck without a job. Not happy!
TERRIBLE EXPERIENCE! I booked a sitter named Rhonda (don't use her!). She was supposed to be there in the morning, never showed, then cancelled my entire booking because she got angry when i asked her when she would be arriving. Terrible terrible experience. The Company Rover tried to find me another sitter but NO WAY would I use them again. If you are going to hire someone who does this to you? Out of town and nobody to watch my furry babies because Rhonda got 'but-hurt'? There was a recording of the text messages, absolutely nothing out of line by me - I can never use them again and sleep good at night
Let me start off by saying I've had a couple of excellent sitters through Rover, and I'd use them again (if they were still in the area). However, my most recent sitter was horrible and Rover takes no accountability for their sitters. This person never checked in via the app, was only in my house about 5 of the required 30 minutes (per the alarm system), took no photos, did not try to engage with my cat at all, and was 2-5 hours late for each visit. I brought this up to Rover and they basically told me it was out of their hands and I should contact the sitter directly. Apparently, they're happy to take my money, but not interested in any accountability. They simply don't care if the actual services were provided or not. Cool customer service.
First ask if the person on rover has pet sitting insurance. They don't move on. End it. They aren't legal and you can kiss your rover guarantee good bye. Do meet and greet. I work there and I have petsitting insurance as I can't count on a guarantee to protect me or them if I am not a legal sitter. That's where people go wrong. Do you have petsitting insurance? That's all. Ask that and problems Over hope this helps
We hired a dog sitter with Rover, paid for 3 days and on the 3rd day she just dumped my dogs because she said she had things to do and wouldn't stay with them no more. We had to just end our trip and come home immediately to find them starving and no water. Contacted Rover they didn't do anything, no refund, didn't let us write a review for her and she still there on their website taking people's money. Worst dog sitter, nasty experience, worst company. DO NOT WAIS YOUR MONEY WITH ROVER
I booked a sitter "Cassie" to watch over my miniature Daschund for a weekend. Cassie was booked to come to the home twice on Friday evening (between 430 and 5 and then between 930 and 10) then to come on Saturday (between 630 and 7 then between 12-1:30 and to repeat friday's times).
Cassie arrived at 4:48 pm and walked the dogs, she then left the house and did not return. I received a security warning as the house was not entered Friday evening nor Saturday morning. I cut my trip short and hurried home. I called to have my home owner's association send an emergency visit.
Buford was in distress, we went to the Vet. He did not recover and this morning passed away.
Rover has refused to follow through with reimbursement for Vet and now cremation.
I had sitter Kim S booked for a week long Christmas sitting job. I spent $40 on a daycare in November so Kim S could make sure my dog would work in her care/ with her dog. The day before a was do to fly out, I received a cancellation notice. Said landlord troubles and couldn't care for all the dogs she had booked. I suspect my spot went to highest bidder. Why wait until the day before to cancel unless a late breaking pile of money showed up. Will NEVER book through Rover again.
