They pretend to be the hotel, scam you on taxes, and add a 'service fee'. I called them and they refused to refund, refused to give me break-down of the taxes, and basically said tough luck. I was scammed by these awful people... never again.
They over charge on taxes and fees and when they are called on it they lie about it. I can prove it. I made my own reservation at the same property and the taxes and fees were more than half of Reservations.com charged. Plus they charge a booking fee. What a racket. Crooks and no customer service. Stay away!
I was attempting to make a hotel reservation and mistakenly called Reservations.com thinking I was calling the hotel. I wanted to book a refundable rate they were offering but the process took so long by the time we got to the part where they were going to charge my account, the rate they had offer was supposedly sold out. They had a lower rate but I was told the lower rate was non-refundable. I told them I wanted to call the hotel directly but they said they had all the same availabilities the hotel had. I was told she was checking one more thing for me to see if she could find another refundable room. I was at work and overwhelmed with the whole process and tired of waiting and asked them to call me back when she was finished looking. When I hung up I called the hotel directly and found I had been mislead and they did have other better availability and so I booked directly through the hotel. When the woman from Reservations.com called me back she told me she found and booked me the rooms I had wanted. I told her I booked directly through the hotel and to cancel the reservation and she told me she was unable to do that because the rate was the non refundable one! I spoke with a supervisor but was offered no help. I attempted to reverse the charge with my bank but was told because I had given them my credit card info I could not argue that the charge was unauthorized. I explained that they did not have my authorization but there was nothing the bank could do for me. I was robbed of $400 by Reservations.com
I made a mistake and hit on their website thinking it was Hilton Inn website. When I called the number and some middle eastern man named Michael answered they immediately started firing questions and he was very rude. I asked him if this was actually the Hilton Inn reservationists and he said yes. When me and my wife got to the hotel we found out we could have saved over 50.00. Would have given them a lower score if it were possible.
My husband and I made a reservation to stay 1 night for our daughter leaving in the air force. We stated it would be June 26th with a check out of the 27. I was also booking a chalet at Tamarack in Donnelly for July 1st - the 3rd for a wedding for our son. AND it AUTO populated to those dates for the wedding. Cancelled immediately and NO REFUND! Website looked like the hotel site. There have been previous reviews on reservations.com about things like this. We are now having to fight with both reservations.com and Riverside! Reservations.com is blaming Riverside, and Riverside is blaming reservations.com. We like this hotel. Because they cater to law enforcement and military. Which we are both! We have still not been able to get our money back. Which is $290.27. NOW reservations.com is telling me they have to get approval from the hotel to get a refund. Which the hotel is telling us it IS ALL RESERVATIONS.COM! I honestly hope you can help us out with this! I have also reported this to my State Rep...
Booked (mistakenly thinking I was booking directly with the hotel) and NO CANCELLATION! Online is says I can cancel, subject *******@14.99 non-refundable fee. But when calling, they tell me "you booked a non-refundable room and the full amount has been charged to your card and will not be refunded. I had no idea I was booking a non-refundable room and there was nothing in the booking process that said it was non-refundable. Avoid these people. Worthless if your plans change and of no help when calling them for assistance.
Website said nothing about US funds & non-refundable. When confirmation email arrived cancelled with 5 min. I was told that they would not charge my visa but could not guarantee that the hotel would not. Immediately after called hotel directly they confirmed they would not charge the Visa. 30 days later Visa charged $480 and customer service lies about calling the hotel to sort it out. Gave fake names of both customer service & name of 'hotel' contact. Started a Visa fraud investigation. Both Visa & hotel chains should stop allowing this to happen. They are no positive reviews only scam after scam alerts & lawsuits
My wife booked a hotel for the five of us for a ball game. She thought she was talking to the hotel directly and booked the rooms not knowing it was an American company. We like be in Canada the room was supposed to be $83 a nite plus taxes we were staying 2 nights and we were charged $230 usd which works out to $293 Canadian. She then phoned there customer service and we were told that this is non refundable and if we cancel we are out are money bunch of thieves is what I would call it. Just use Expedia if u are gonna book not these SCAM ARTISTS CROOKS
We booked through this company and they charged the entire amount up front and close to $100 more than the hotel directly. We had no idea at the time that this was the case because we thought we were booking through the hotel. Fortunately the hotel had our reservation when we arrived. We found out at the hotel that we were charged well over the hotel rate. I called reservations.com. No offer to refund any amount. They said thats what they charge. When I said I would give them a negative review with multiple sites, they said ok thank you. Wow.
They tried to pretend to be the hotel and then took $484 out of my checking account without my knowledge or authorization. I was on the phone with them 45 minutes trying to get straight answers they never could give. Such as why do they charge 33% "tax and fees" rate when the actual state tax rate for NV is 14%? Answer: Reservations.com is skimming 19% and putting it in their pocket. Why do they have a 14 day cancellation policy when the hotel has a 48 hour cancellation policy? Answer: They conceal they are a third party and make you think you are dealing directly with the hotel. Now I have to wait 7-10 days to get my $484 back that they never informed me they were taking out of my account. Avoid this outfit at all costs!
We booked a room at jack London inn and the shower had mold on walls and ceiling. Phone had no chord.no other room available. We had no refund coming bit with the condition of the room we felt we should be refunded. Sent pictures of shower. They refused. We will NEVER use reservations. Com again nor will we recommend it to anyone
Please don't book the hotel through reservations.com. Reservations.com is a liar... This company is from Philippine but the office is in Florida. All costumer service representatives are liars!
I thought I was booking directly with the hotel! The confirmation shows USD! This is Canadian hotel, why they charge me USD? They also cash my money from the credit card. I finally realized I was booking with third party company. After I made the cancellation in two hours, they charged me service fee! They also make the reservation just like you are booking with the hotel website. Very terrible experience booking! Never ever in my lifetime!
Like many, REALLY thought I was direct with the local hotel, only when adjustments needed to be made I told this was a 3rd party vendor! AND beware, this is the ONYL online site where I was charged for my full reservation cost at time of booking, if anything maybe on collects the cost of 1-night with balance due when you check-out. I questioned why they were making me pre-pay and was told that was the hotels's requirement since it was a small boutique hotel, so I accepted that. Since making this reservation thru this company, I have dealt directly with hotel to be told they DO NOT collect up front and be wary of this 3rd party vendor! Their team member directly lied to me, securing your full refund can take up to 2wks, if at all - this is a VERY DECEITFUL company!
Thought I was booking my reservation on a Canadian site but found out charges were in U S funds (201.84 which is 268.35 Canadian on my Canadian Master Card). I called twenty minutes later to book this room on my Visa U S dollar card. They said that if I were to book this room on my Visa U S dollar card they would cancel the charges to my Master card (Canadian funds). This did not happen. After five calls to their customer service I was never able to talk to a supervisor. Bottom line this company has scammed me out of $365.41 U S which is $478.51 Canadian for a $185.00 Cdn room at the Renaissance Airport Hotel Edmonton. As your president would tweet - SAD.
This site will charge you a 15 dollar service fee that no other site charges and that fee will not show up until after they run your card. By that point, they will not even allow for a cancellation or refund. Go to Hotels.com, or really any place else.
I wish I had seen the reviews of this website before I nonchalantly put a hotel room on hold with this boldface scam website. I thought I was on the hotel website that had a reservation system to take their reservations. Only when I confirmed the reservation they said sit back and dont do anything your card has already been charged the full stay amount oh and plus an extra $14.99 service fee for our deceptive deceit. Wow as soon as I saw the charge i was immediately contacting customer service to cancel this and could not believe that minutes later they will not give you a full refund to a hotel that I am over 500 miles away from. I should have been suspicious when my discover card blocked the purchase twice! I just thought it was a typing error but unfortunately I continued on with a 2nd credit card so now both have been charged the service fee of $14.99 so it cost me $30 to be scammed. Someone needs to shut this site down it is so misleading and they are just taking people's hard earned money. Disgusting!
This site is a RIP OFF! First of all, you think that you are on the official site of the hotel you are trying to book. Very deceptive!
Secondly, they lie! Told me reservation was available for cancellation and it was NOT! Told me one thing, put something different in email and informed actual hotel of something different as well specific to their cancellation policy. I was totally ripped off for $270 for a 2 night stay that did not occur.
It is simple they do not disclose their information in a user friendly form.
Canadians beware!
They do not alert you to the fact that they charge you in US!
I strongly urge anyone and everyone to never deal with this company/website. They do my charge what they claim is your total, in fact its a hell of a whole lot more money then you would think.
After 6 phone calls and speaking with 2 managers I have never in my life been so disgusted with the service let alone the people.
After my final attempt to receive the difference as what I paid for a 1 night stay in a $#*!ty hotel was more expensive then a meal at the keg for 10, I was told to send an email with my concern.
After sending my email I received a voicemail saying that they were not giving me the difference back.
What a scam. Hence my complain title being a joke.
Never EVER click accept on this website because what you think you are being charged you are definitely not.
That is all, I hope this company goes under and everyone loses their job to better this world.
Answer: Call your credit card company and report it as an unauthorized charge. You may have to cancel your card and get a new card and card number, but it's worth it.
Answer: Impossible to get money back. They're just scumbags!
Answer: Yes, this company charges a fee, which it will not refund even if you cancel your reservation within minutes!
Answer: Hello, Thank you for question. Please contact us at [email protected] so we can better assist you with this matter. Thank you for your consideration and we look forward to hearing back from you. Sincerely Reservations.com Support Team
Answer: It can be, if its refundable reservation. Every reservations has a different cancelation policy. Mostly last minute reservations are not cancelable.
Answer: My experience is the same. reservations.com obviously nails a lot of unsuspecting Canadians this way. They don't make any attempt to help you out when they are confronted by this way of hosing us. Its a sleazy organization.
Answer: Hello Brodie, We have sent you an email this morning regarding your concerns. Please email us directly so we may assist you. Sincerely, Customer Support Reservations.com
Answer: Yes, you were billed. Call your credit card company and report it as an unauthorized charge. Your company should remove it, send you a new card and assign you a new card number.
