BEWARE: This company bought out a small mom and pop in our little town and we were grandfathered in at our current rate for our small business. Two years later we speak with the driver about them relocating the containers with out our direction and he asks why we have two dumpsters for refuse when we barely have them full. I pointed out one was recycling. So for two years our recycling was being dumped as trash. The customer service rep I spoke with sent us a quote for 4 times the amount we had been paying so we called around and found a better deal. After we signed a new contract with the local company Republic came back with a better deal. It was too little too late. Now they are charging us $260 to pick up the dumpsters plus another month of service due to them dragging their feet in returning our calls. The charge for pick up was never told to us nor was it every in writing. The new company only charged $110 for delivery of the new dumpsters. Republic doesn't really have customer service locally here it seems and the local phone number (so they look local) just accesses the call center that is not empowered to help anyone.

THIS month Only out of four weeks has only been picked once on time. Today I talked to a man named Michael and he said it would be picked up later today, but never did. Waited till 19:30 and had to bring back in. THIS MONTH VERY POOR SERVICE.The scheduler. SHOULD BE FIRED. Need to take PRIDE IN YOUR WORK. THANK YOU

Way too expensive!

Customer beware! This company raises their prices 1-2x per year. Literally any other trash company will be cheaper! I used them for their recycling, but very little is being recycled nowasdays due to low commodity prices and China not accepting it. When you go to cancel, they will charge you for an extra month of service. They will also charge you $50 PER container when you cancel. They'll also charge $10 for Fuel to pick up your containers when you cancel! Save yourself some money, use any other company!

Bad customer service

I moved from Illinois to South Dakota and had a small dumpster at my residence. Called and emailed MULTIPLE TIMES to get them to pick up the dumpster and stop billing me. 5 emails later and three phone calls, and they FINALLY picked up the dumpster. Now, we have called them 4 more times to get them to stop billing me. We have it set up where they automatically take the bill out of our checking and they now owe us 4 months worth of payments. Do not work with this company. They have told us multiple times someone would call us back and they would never call back. So disappointing. We were happy with the service until we had to move. Still waiting for YET another phone call to get our money back!

Disappointed

19 years with Republic. We had always paid month to month. They changed their system to quarterly and we were billed upwards of $90/mo till it went over $120/mo at the end of 2019. Their accounting error was that the system was billing us the quarterly rate per month. Our mistake was that we just paid the bill on time. Didn't catch our attention till it went over $100 and then we were like, why are we paying $100/mo for trash pickup? We have been in a year long battle with them and they are a horrific company. Initial customer service staff was great and as helpful as they could be but escalation to Supervisors brought some frustration and never any callbacks. Escalation to corporate was appalling. We were in the wrong as far as they were concerned. No refunds, they corrected us to quarterly, but still billed monthly, the prices changed, they insert fees and we contested and initially the supervisors did roll back 3 payments, but we payed over $1100 for less than $400 in service. Yes it was my mistake just cutting a check and paying on time and not questioning the rate earlier. Looking back through statements we have been overpaying for years. They didn't care. It was our fault. Pay the current bill or get sent to collections. $35 service suspension fee? 19 year customer, tossed in the trash by this horrible company.

They will reply to this post with apologies and offers to remedy... been doing it for over a year. You got what you wanted. Ran us off and kept the years of overpayment. Shameful...

It is pretty obvious that the left hand doesn't know what the right hand is doing.

Our waste management is handled by our HOA with another company, and that company does not have recycling pickup in our area. The only company that services recycling in my area is Republic. I noticed that some of our neighbors had recycling pickup, so I called Republic one day to inquire about their recycling service (cost, schedule, basic information). A few weeks later, I called back to sign up. They stated both times that recycling service would be $20 a month, and that they would pickup every other Friday. They would be dropping off my container the following Friday. Great, sign me up!

The following Friday arrives, no container is dropped off. I wait another Friday, and finally call customer service, they act surprised, "aren't sure what happened," and say it will be dropped off the following Friday. The next Friday, we finally receive our container, that clearly says "TRASH" on the top. At this point, we have our recycling piling up, so I go ahead and put the recycling into that container, and put it on the curb. Luckily, they flip the lid first to verify it's recycling, then load it into the truck. Things are fine with pickup after that.

I received my first bill, and noticed that they had included waste pickup charges. This bill was $37, and with the holidays, getting through on the phone was nearly impossible, so I go ahead and pay it. I receive the next bill two months later for $70, again with the waste removal. Republic never dropped off another waste receptacle, and they have never come to pick our trash, only the recycling. So I call. After 15 minutes I get through, and then they transfer me to a "consultant." This consultant tells me that in my area, we cannot have a recycling-only contract, that it requires both waste and recycling. No one ever mentioned that to me, in either the time I called for information, or the time that I signed up. Not a thing was mentioned about waste pickup being required to have the recycling service. So now they are telling me that I can either sign up for waste pickup through them (which is outrageously priced from the discount we receive through our HOA) or they can cancel my service, they will come and pick up my receptacle, and I will get a call back on my adjusted bill. Based on the conversation I had with the consultant, it is pretty obvious they had no interest in keeping my business.

Republic, I think you need to educate your new service associates on filling customers in on not allowing recycle-only contracts in their area. They had my address, this should be something they could easily look up and mention before putting customers through all of this headache, and providing you with yet another one-star review.

The trash company I used was purchased by Republic Services, so I did not voluntarily choose to do business with them. Over two years they managed to literally DOUBLE the price of my service. It was impossible to actually speak to a live human being, and when I got fed up and actually signed up with another service, they charged me a $35 fee to come and collect my cans. I am fairly certain this is illegal because I never agreed to this with my old company, and I was never asked to agree to new terms when Republic Services purchased that company and rolled me in as a customer. However, you can't speak to a human being, and I finally just paid them when they kept threatening me via email. I will make sure, however, that anyone who reads reviews knows what an UNETHICAL, TERRIBLE company this is to do business with!

Shame on me. I thought being a faithful customer would mean something - even to a larger company. But Republic Services (Trash Removal) has proven me wrong. We started with Republic 22 years ago when they were BFI and never really had a reason to change. We were set on auto billing and did not regularly review rates. A few months ago however, pickups kept getting missed so I shopped around. To my dismay, I was paying $310 per quarter when the going rate was about $110 per quarter. When I spoke with Republic, they essentially blamed me that I had not called for a rate adjustment, that's why I was being over charged. Basically, they took advantage of my loyalty and proceeded to charge me $200 per quarter more than 4 other competitors. I spoke with service and politely asked that they consider refunding me $600 for the difference in 2020. I thought this was a reasonable request. I explained that if that credit was issued I would keep my experience to myself. I calmly explained that if the credit was not issued, I would go to social media and let all my neighbors know how Republic treats loyal customers. I called at least 6 times over the last 10 weeks patiently waiting for an answer to my credit request. Every time dealing with folks in a calm, polite, and professional manner. Every time I was promised a return call and never received one. At one point I was told I had a credit of $201 coming, today, they said I was only getting $171. As a rule, I'll always only deal with a vendor directly and not trash a company on social media. In this case however, I think 3 months of effort has provided Republic ample opportunity to make this right. Yes, it's my fault for not shopping this service annually and continually asking for rate adjustments. I should have payed closer attention. I don't think Republic deserves the business of anyone given their policy of continual rate escalation beyond what is reasonably competitive.

Tired of the nonsense

Republic Services is the worst company to deal with for trash removal. Prices increase without notice. Customer service people are confused and can't give specific info on rate increases. It happens time and time again. Quoted low price and then within 2 quarters rate increases significantly. Don't use them!

Worst Billing Ever

Turns out I had two accounts; one for yard waste and one for garbage. I kept receiving late payment notices even though I had paid. When they mailed that they would shut down service, I paid (again) over the phone. Prior to Republic purchasing our local trash service, we had one account. First, I couldn't get anyone on the phone, only the toll-free to pay. The local number on my bill was disconnected. When I finally got a local number, after 30 minutes of me providing bank information showing i not only paid, but OVER paid, we figured out I had over $300 credit on the Yard Waste account and was past due on the regular service. I was told they were going to transfer the credit balance to the other account, still leaving an overall credit balance. I asked to be mailed the credit balance and was told she couldn't.

But the worst was when i got ANOTHER bill for $41.72 for accrued late fees, which they said they would remove given i actually overpaid AND they turned me over to a collection office.

I have invested hours in trying to sort this out and they send my $41.72 in unfairly charged late fees to a collection agency while I still have a credit balance on the other account. Both accounts in the same name, address, etc. I was never told I had two accounts. Again, we only had a single account with CHEF (purchased by Republic) and they invoiced us for both services on one bill.

Tomorrow I get to try, again, to get in touch with them to have it resolved. Disgusted by this company.

Canceled Service

I wrote a review over a month ago about how their service is horrible and they kept missing my pickup days. Since than i have canceled my service and it has been a challenge to get my containers picked up. We were scheduled to have containers picked up on November 9 and as usual a no show. I called them everyday last week and never got an answer and was always told it would go to escalations and i would receive a phone call back from local supervisor still waiting. Apparently they came by today and of course they didn't take my containers because it wasn't curbside. I never got a notice that they were coming today and because we had high winds last night where i live i brought containers close to my house now they are blaming me for not having it curbside when i wasn't even informed they were coming. Still waiting for a phone call a week later when i was suppose to get one within 24-48 hours. This company has horrible customer service

We had a storm the prior day. Was a nice day the following garbage day and these idiots with a robotic truck dont show up? So everone has garbage cans down I call and get there message. We are behind one day will be out the following day. Not the next trash day, the FOLLOWING DAY They still dont show up and all the cans are still down two days later They are the only act in town. They will tell customers anything to get people off the phone, promise anything and never deliver. The local Hernando Country Florida commissioners will not address it either. So I took my full garbage can placed it in my pickup and dumped it in the woods. Now FU commissioners and Republuc let the inmates clean it up.

Terrible service! Wish I could leave negative stars. Missed several pickups, left can in middle of street on occasions, and (the final straw) tore up my brick mailbox. Canceled service in early May 2020 and my bank accidentally sent an automatic payment May 22nd for an additional 3 months payment from June - August 2020. I already had a small overpayment on my account when I previously paid off my final balance. Received an email July 16,2020 saying they would process a refund for $82.30 within 1-2 weeks. During my cancellation process, I was also told the final trashcan pickup fee would be waived. Never received the refund. When I called multiple times they said they didn't owe anything and no refund due, even though I had an email with a case number attached that said I did. So basically, they kept 3 months payment for services not rendered. Will never use these thieves again.

This is hands down the worst company I have ever come in contact with. Their employees are rude and disrespectful, that goes for their drives and especially the "relationship desk". I called for two months to try and cancel my account where I was given the run around. When my account was finally canceled in July, I then had to call for four more months and my dumpster was finally removed at the end of October. The gentleman at relationship desk laughed at me when I called for the fifth time extremely upset that this had not been resolved. The drivers took the wheels off our dumpster so it could not be moved without our consent. They also called the owner of our company an idiot and bad mouthed him to his face unknowing of who he was. They sent three price increases through to us last year amounting to over $100 without justification. Do not ever use this company.

Poor incompetent service

Pricing keeps going up; no notices or correspondences. When call the customer folks has no clue except just pay the bill. Service does not jack up every quarter? In this case there was no explanation but pay it. Talk to managers they said it didn't raise up., wrong info but they will change back to original pricing. Incompetent again, managers didn't do crap! Getting more bills of not paying the price hike. Ridiculous service in the past 2 years

We advised them around Sept 17th that we are cancelling their services for the next quarter starting on Oct 1st, at that time we were advised that the charge to collect the grabage and recycle bin was $7 Their bill for next quarter was due on Sept 19th. They then sent us a bill for $5 and we paid that. On Oct 20th they send us another bill for $62.67 for removing garbage and recycle bins. It's ridiculous! Wen my husband called them they are saying something else now. ONE CHEATING ORGANIZATION! STAY AWAY FROM THIS COMPANY!

Look somewhere else

I was using them for several years had to stop the service. Always paid on time. The service over the years has gotten worse. Missed pickups, or no pick up at all. Constantly leaving a mess in the road. Never get out to clean up.
Will never use them again. Nor will I recommend them.

Worst company ever

Cancelled service because price consistently went up, they said they would charge $30 to cancel, that changed to 53.10 then when I called it changed to 42.15 and then to 48.10, and they tried to charge late fees for an invoice that I cancelled. The also can't send a corrected invoice. Never again!

I moved into this house a month ago and they still can't get it right. They have passed me up almost every time. I've called at least 10 times in the month I was here. All the neighbors get their needs met but not me. This is the worst trash company ever. I'm sorry I had to leave Best trash.
