I recently reserved a car from Dollar and then modified the rental within 24 hours of making the first reservation which was weeks ahead of the rental time frame.
On the App I saw that the reservation had been cancelled and that I would not be charged for the cancellation.
While calling my credit company to ensure that my card would work for the time that I would be out of the country the representative told me that there were two rentals on my credit card bill and that there was a small refund which was the difference between the first reservation from Dolar and the second from Thrifty. Rentalcars.com maintains that they have refunded me what they owe me and requested screen shots of the statements form the bank.
After submitting the screen shots I was told by another person there that screen shots were not enough and that I would have to present statements from the bank. I've since done that and have been waiting three days now for an answer. I have since informed my bank and they will be handling this matter as a case of credit card fraud.
I have used this company in the past without problem but I never had the need to use the customer support from them before.
I hope that this matter gets solved quickly since the bank is taking over the process now.
It's been over three weeks since this whole process began and I had to spend valuable time during my vacation dealing with this matter.
It's a shame that I will have to look at another company the next time that I rent a car because I've had nothing but good experiences with them up until this point.
After a problem with the first rental I made, that was made out to be my fault when they gave the car away to someone else, I made another reservation that was very expensive at the airport where I waited for over two hours for the other car. I go inside to check for the desk inside the airport that the reservation says is there and there is no desk for this car rental service in the airport. After talking to the other car rental agencies (that had no cars available) I find out that the company that I booked through rental cars is no longer in service after COVID. I did not receive any car, had to find a way from a tiny airport in the middle of nowhere into a city to book a third rental (not through rental cars). I made an enquirer and requested a refund and was told that it would be processed in 28 days. After 38 days and I was still not refunded so I called their customer service AGAIN and they said it will be another 2-3 weeks until I will see a refund. 54 days since the booking and still no refund! So all together I paid rental cars almost 700 euro and never got a car from them and haven't seen a refund! DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY.

I booked a car via them at Enterprise in Stockholm. We never got the car but they already withdrew the money and promised to report back on our complaint. They never come back. This joke costed me 250 dollar and we did not eaven got a lousy tshirt. Only use this service if you like to loose your money.

Fees are way to high. Nobody answered my phone calls or emails. There is super expensive insurance and a fee for cancelation. Also they don't recover your money back. Also no one mentioned the deposit of 1100 euro needed before we went there (it was written inside the conditions but waaay too deep)
My flight was delayed by several hours. Contacted RentalCars.com and advised of my delay several hours before scheduled pick-up time of car and advised. They choose to call my reservation a no-show kept my prepaid 3 days rental and did not give me a car that paid for my vacation. They also have enough contempt/intent to scam to tell my credit card company they were never contacted about arrival delay. Phone records are not subjective and are being submitted I don't know where its going. Stay away and you won't find yourself being a victim of their scams.
Use Google and identify the rental car companies at your destination and make reservation directly with them not a rip-off middleman. Pay attention to hours of operation and terms and conditions these companies are getting very creative on how to burn the customer.
TOTAL SCAM, my flight got cancel and I call to book another date so I wont loose the money I paid to them, and they could not find cars available for me to book another date, keep calling and calling and no one did anything to help me, they just make me loose money and at the end they told me its not their fault that they do not had availability on cars on another date, instead of helping a customer not to loose money, their customer service SUCK, they have a very INCOMPETENT PEOPLE do not know the meaning of CUSTOMER SERVICE, they are only a steeling money company!
Paid for a booking but I didn't get any car. The reason was because I was late 30 mins. I didn't get a refund either. Customer service inexistent. They give the car to another customer and keep the money.

Worst car rental experience I ever had. I rented a car but came half an hour late because I was stuck in the catastrophic flooding area in Germany. The car rental was closed then and I never could access the car. They charged me the whole amount for two days even though I never used the car. There was no way to cancel and contact anybody at the rental service. Now customer service is basically not existing. I submitted a reclamation twice and I don't even get any response. Never again!
We booked AND paid the car for 4 days in Florence. By pick up they asked me for a credit card. I don't have one, so we wanted to switch the reservation to My girlfriends name, she has a credit card. They couldn't switch the name and all the money was gone, and NO car. Completely Robbery! Don't use Rentalcars
The company does not care much about their customers, just their income. Horribly buggy website and app, nearly impossible to use. No much effort is put to resolve your issue once you booked a car. Don't recommend.
In June I happily booked a car with rentalcars.com.
They offered low rates with a company called Easirent.
When I arrived in Tampa Florida, the shuttle to the rental car building was nowhere to be found. I called the service desk and there was no answer.
When the shuttle finally arrived the driver would not get out to help me with my bag, when we got to their death the driver would not get out of helping with my bag. Upon entering the off-site location I saw that it was dirty and filled with unhappy customers. Many people complaining of a two-hour wait oh, and no bathroom facilities oh, and nowhere to go Define facilities as it was in a industrial area. While I was there while I was there people were treated poorly denied bathroom use, cars were giving that we're filthy inside and rejected, cars with body damage, and cars with flat tires. After waiting almost two hours it was my turn at the service desk. When I complained about the long wait I was threatened and put out without a rental car. I attempted to contact easirent and was unable because it just sent me for the same lady who refused me a car.
I contacted my credit card company and ask them to stop the charges from going through.
Easirent claims I never showed up for my car or that I showed up excessively late.
The charge on my account comes from rentalcars.com. After explaining the problem they refused to refund my money. And sent a 16-page respond stating that I was late to pick up my car. They refused to help me and put the blame on me rather than the shotty company they reserve my car through. I suggest running from this rental car company. Not just easy rent, for rentalcars.com as they will not support you in any way shape or form and look for any way to keep your money. Even though I was stranded in an industrial area in Tampa with my bag and had to find other Transportation they didn't care. I had to walk, take a bus, and find another car to rent.

I booked and prepaid a rental car from Rentalcars.com thru Priceline at the same time as I reserved airline tickets. The flight was delayed for a couple of days and I tried to modify my reservation with Rentalcars.com since I had nothing to do with a flight delay. The rental cost price doubled even though the rental time was shorter. It turns out Priceline is not help at all even though they are a partner of Priceline. Beware of ever renting a car thru this site because if you need to make a change they will absolutely gouge you and you have zero leverage. I will never used them again and I wish Priceline dropped them as a Partner because in general Priceline has been OK with me. This was by far a complete nightmare experience.
Travelling in Scotland, I have an address in England but no prof of address so I needed to hire a car from a company that didn't need this info. When I booked, the terms clearly stated I only needed passport, license and credit card. I would not have booked if it said I needed proof of address. The next day, the company phoned to tell me to bring this so without it I needed to cancel. Because I was now within the 48 hr cancellation period, they charged me £130 cancellation fee. An hour on the phone later, they tried to convince me their website states this. It does not. In fact, it transpires that different browsers show different info. Chrome on a Mac (what I was seeing) has a very different layout to what the customer representative was seeing. Not just in a different order, my version literally omitted an entire section that refers to what you need to bring. All I could see was a list of three things - passport, credit card and driving license.
The question is - is this a genuine mistake or deliberate scam? Either way, I should not be charged £130 to cancel because of a fault of theirs.
I had a horrifying experience of renting a car, paying full amount and not being able to cancel 5 minutes later when I realised they won't give me a car without a credit card. It says nothing about it when you book, only after you get the confirmation.

I reserved a car through them, and my flight arrived 1.5 hours late at Atlanta Airport. When I went to pick up the car the office was closed and no one answered the number I had been given to call for pick up. This was at 1 AM. I had to rent a car on the spot through Avis after waiting around for 45 minutes. I contacted the company in the morning and they told me to get the airline to pay for the "no show" charge of $130.00! Have spent 2 months disputing the charge with AMEX to no avail.
We booked with Ryanair/ rentalcars.com as broker and "Nollegiare Alghero" should give us the car, bad mistake to try to book a car there. They took the money weeks before and refused to give us the car. No hotline available on sundays. They try to sell you a double car insurance. We lost 884,26 Euro, 11 days, Ford Fiesta. "No show", they call it. First the VisaCard did not work (another car was easy to rent for us with the same Card but another company). Second reason not to give us the car: My man was in the formular as driver and on the Visa Card is my name. Third reason: we came 2 hours too late. 1 hour delay of the flight and 1 hour waiting in front of the office of "Nollegiare Alghero" in the sun 35 degrees C. So you see it is impossible to get a car, but easy to loose money with this kind of car business. I hope you read this and find a better car rental. We found "Nolauto Alghero". They have fair conditions and we rented a car without trouble. But we will never forget how unfriendly the staff of "Nollegiare Alghero" is. I hope that no longer other customers loose their money with this company! Take care!
Really wished I'd googled for reviews before using these scammers. I was booking a 2 day car hire at just before 6pm and was needing the car at 10am the next day. Issues I had were:
- Site told me a car was available. So I booked it. Confirmation message told me it could be up to 24hrs before the actual rental company would confirm. This was no good.
- Going back into the booking I noticed that Enterprise had additional charges of circa £43 which were not mentioned when booking the car. So their information is a lie.
- I then cancelled the booking, but despite the google ad clearly stating "no cancellation fees" they kept all the money. I had cancelled within an hour.
Customer service hide behind "T&Cs" and won't acknowledge the series of misinformation and lies on their site and ads.
So please just book direct. I don't see what value these middlemen. It doesn't function as a "price comparison" when the prices are unreliable and promises of good practice are not upheld.
