What a dishonest user experience, sneaky and scummy. I created a QR code and all appeared to be good. Then they sent out an email saying the QR code has been deactivated and pushing you to subscribe to a monthly plan! Dishonest approach and customer experience.

I signed up and created an account to use a QR code for an advertisement. After the promotion ended i deleted the QR code and canceled the account. QR code Generator did not close my account. They kept it open. I was sent an email that my account was going to renew and so I then went back in and canceled the account again. But my account was still billed and they will not respond to emails to get my money back. I would not use this company, it's like the mob, once you're in you can't get out!

Given the number of free tools out there that perform the same function that Bitly wants you to pay for, it's no wonder they have to resort to intentionally deceptive tactics to scam money from the unsuspecting. While billed as a "QR code generator" in fact it generates a middle-man link that they control and then hold hostage, demanding payment--annual payment specifically--in order to enable the code to work. I can't imagine this makes them all that much money, but it certainly makes money for the printing shops who get to reprint all the materials created with these scammers' QR codes.

Such a scammy operation
August 10, 2023

Bit.ly codes are free. This service just hijacks the url codes by putting a redirect on them and attaches some analytics on top. They advertise a free dynamic code and 5 static codes, but the plan is misleading and you end up getting suckered into having to purchase a plan when 14 days later, your ad is running, and it suddenly shuts down all inbound traffic. Customer service is horrible they don't respond. There is no phone number, just a bot. It's obvious this service is just fishing unsaavy people who get suckered into a google adword search for Free Qr code.

1. Pricing is deceptive. They market a monthly plan, but you can only pay annually.
2. Customer service is a JOKE. I needed help with my account (for which I had to pay the annual amount). It took TWO WEEKS for an email response that did not solve my issue. By then it was too late for my code in use to be effective.
3. Description of different plans is not consistent across pages. One page told me the free plan included one dynamic QR code. I distributed it during the free trial, then after trial expiration, I was told dynamic codes are not included in the free plan. Too late for me to change. Had to pay the misleading annual fee.

Horrible, horrible, horrible.

These people have scammed me with a great big "$9.99 letters, billed yearly", and the very faint "per month" that is hardly visible. Then, once they took the money, $119.98, out of my checking account, I find out I can only do two QR codes a year, AND, their site was LESS user friendly after I paid through the nose than when I used it for free. I understand they provide a service, and I was happy to pay $9.99 a year, which is what I pay for Wikipedia that I use far more than I ever will use their services. I am a school teacher who only uses a QR code to get in touch with my parents a couple times a year, but I can't afford to pay $119 every year for two QR codes. Also, when I tried to complain, they don't have an actual email address where you can write to a real person. I just got a chat bot.

They make it impossible to see your codes will be deactivated in 14 days, once you spent all your money on packaging, flyers, designs whatever with the QR code you made, you'll see on the site a trial ending timer, once that ends your code doesn't work anymore, the company forces you to pay a (YEARLY) not monthly fee so they can get the most money out of you for your mistake of not double checking, so you get stuck in a spot where you either pay the money for the code or you wasted all your money on whatever the code was printed on

I do graphic design and ordered thousands of dollars worth of packaging and stuff for multiple clients, now I am stuck with this bill or trying to give this insane explanation to my clients of why they need to give me (MORE) money so the QR code continues to work, even though with a quick google search they'll see QR codes are free, this is the WORST business practice I've ever seen and these people should be jailed for stealing.

They reply to everyone saying blah blah its legit premium services, but these garbage scammers know exactly what they're doing, sneakiest company I've seen still up and running STAY AWAY!

We upgraded to allow us to use more QR codes over time, they took the money but left our account only able to create 2 codes, while our subscription allows for 50 codes. You can send a "ticket" and pray for a reply, but you're left with your money gone and a service that doesn't function. We upgraded in June, and here in mid July we are still unable to use the services we paid for. It's 2023, and there's no excuse for an internet based company to be as rudimentary and unreachable as they are. Get it together or close up, stop wasting peoples time.

Scam!
July 13, 2023

If only the website TOLD you the codes aren't really free it would have saved me so much trouble. I printed 200 business cards and posters, only to find out 2 weeks later the codes expires unless I pay £96! ABSOLUTE SCAM. So angry

This website is a complete ripoff!
July 12, 2023

This site is a complete joke. They baited and switched me after I had physical collateral printed up with the QR code the provided. I just found out from one of my employees that the campaign was deactivated; logged in only to find out that it was deactivated due to the trial ending. Thought I would do the $10 for a month till I could get something else, but they only market with the monthly price and then require you to pay for an entire year! Basically held my collateral hostage by making my CTA useless unless I paid!

I'm considering actually talking to a law firm over this one. This is supposed to be operated by a reputable company: Bitly. I've done business with them for the better part of a decade, thought I would use the for something since they ran it, but this is just something else entirely; this is a scam. Bitly should be ashamed to be a part of such an operation. I will be canceling my account with them and transitioning over to another short URL management service.

Scam
June 30, 2023

Much like other reviewers I was shocked to find that my QR code will be deactivated after the 14 day trial meaning that my printed business cards are useless. I refuse to pay the $120 per year to activate it, and have decided to reprint my business cards instead. This isn't ethical business practices. Greater transparency is needed.

I am deeply disappointed with the services provided by QR-Code Generator. Their advertising claimed a "Create your free QR code" offer, but it turned out to be far from the truth. After creating my QR code, I received a notification stating that my free trial was ending, even though there was no clear indication of this during the creation process. This was especially frustrating as I had already printed the QR code on my posters.

Feeling compelled to continue using the QR code, I reluctantly decided to subscribe to their monthly plan for €8. However, I was shocked to receive an invoice for an annual subscription amounting to €96, which was never clearly communicated on their website. Their claim of being able to cancel the subscription easily by sending an email proved to be misleading as well.

The lack of transparency and the unexpected charges have left me feeling deceived and taken advantage of. It is unfortunate that a company would resort to such tactics instead of providing clear and honest information to its customers. I urge others to be cautious when dealing with QR-Code Generator and to thoroughly read the fine print before using their services.

Overall, my experience with QR-Code Generator has been deeply unsatisfactory, and I would not recommend their services due to their misleading subscription practices and hidden costs.

The platform works well; it's the customer service that is so bad as to be non-existent. I signed up for a $15/mo. Plan but was charged $191 for a premium plan. I used their "chat box" which is computer-generatedand not interactive. The interface of the chat box is horrible. I canceled my subscription on the billing page but it says that my account is still active for one year. I feel like I just flushed nearly $200 down the commode. There are other QR programs that charge less per month.

I used their website to create a QR code for my website and printed out 120+ invitations, only get a email to tell me that the QR code is expiring. And I have to pay $120 to keep the QR code active. This whole time I was under the impression its a FREE website to create FREE QR code. They were intentionally deceiving. What kind of $#*!s and scammers! You guys are PATHETIC. I am going to create a truly free QR code and print them out on stickers over my Wedding invitation. You guys are DISGUSTING!

Scam
June 20, 2023

This website is a complete scam. Not only do they charge $130 for a service you can get for free anywhere on the web, it is impossible to reach their customer service. If you do reach customer service they give you a snarky reply that you should have canceled before renewal and they sent reminder emails- they do not. Expect to be scammed out of your money and unable to reach anyone for help. Not sure if this service actually works because again, why would I pay for something that is free everywhere else.

Get a canva account and save yourself the BS.

Would not respond to cancellation
June 20, 2023

Early last week, I paid for a subscription to https://www.qr-code-generator.com/ with the read understanding that I could cancel within a few weeks, and get a refund. I did cancel my subscription the next day. Guess what? The only response I received was that my account disappeared - login would not work - saw that my account was invalid. Have waited over a week to my cancellation request, as well as requesting a refund. No response. Any suggestions how to get my money back from these.,..

Good thing I waited
June 20, 2023

Should have read the reviews. I made 100 wedding invitations ready to be sent out in 2 months. Found out later that all of my QR codes is no good. Literally is telling me to pay over $120 to keep my codes. This is no different than random. Freaking crooks! There's like a lot of alternative free sites.

I rather re-purchase $40 worth of stuff and re-do all of my invitation than giving you a single cent.

NOT FREE!
June 19, 2023

It claims to be a free, but it's not.
I purchased a monthly plan, but they charged me 12 months at the first month.
One year has passed and they did that again! Automatically! I asked for refund and the site refuses!

P.S.: QR code generator contacted me and refunded 100%.
