Hi made a QR code for my wedding RSVPs, not realising that I was making a DYNAMIC QR code, and it would expire and not work in 14 days. There was no clear mention of this when choosing to make the QR code. Turns out, you can make a static QR code if you scroll all the way to the bottom of the list and click on the tiny grey, hardly visible plus button. There is no warning of what dynamic codes are, but they tell you afterwards that they are not free. I had to pay for a plan in order for my guests to actually use my QR code on my invitations. And there is no monthly plan, so I had to pay for a full year.
The site makes you think that you can generate a qr code for free. They do not make it clear that the qr code is only temporary and is disabled after several weeks. You have to pay to make it functional again. No thanks, I'll find another way.
Do not use this company. They give you a trial, but are extremely NOT flexible and force you buy a whole year's subscription. DO NOT USE THEM! Horrible or should I say, NON existent customer service. RUN DO NOT USE!
This was fast, free, & easy to create. I use it at different events I volunteer with so folks can easily look up the info... without handing out pamplets that would become litter.
No idea this wasn't free, and like many others who used this service didn't realise until the flyers were printed and the codes stopped working. Have had to sign up because our charity spent $200 on flyers but this is a terrible customer experience. Now I have to pay this out of my own pocket. Will never use again
I just want to help people not make the same mistake I made!
They automatically bill you for an entire year. THEY DO NOT CHARGE BY THE MONTH - even though they provide a monthly rate for each of their 3 plans. Yes, I should have read the fine print but, this is something that should not have to be in fine print or hidden behind the facade of "billed annually." It almost doesn't seem legal to be so blatantly misleading but, I don't know enough about any of that to know for sure.
This is a real disappointment, honestly, because I really like the service they offer! It was super easy to use and there are lots of customization options. But, I needed to create one code for a birthday party invitation, and it ended up costing as much the venue I rented for the party. All because I thought, "Oh, $16 a month! And I only need it for two months - that's not bad!"
Hard to believe this scam company is affiliated with bit.ly, a service I have used for free for many years with positive experience. Nowhere in the onboarding steps to creating my first QR code did they explain that nothing is actually "free", a word they used liberally at every step of the way. You will make your QR code, not look back, and 12 days later they will email you to say that your codes will expire unless you pay a MINIMUM of $60/annually (for their most featureless, low-end plan), which is EXTORTION and BLACKMAIL. In the help files you will read that "Free Plans" (hyperlinked) allow 1 free Dynamic code and 5 static codes, but the link takes you to a Plans page which has no free plan - only 3 over-priced paid plans. If you have made the grave error of putting your "free" code into print anywhere, you will be forced to pay for it else it will be dead 3 days from now. Horrible, unethical, shameful. I encourage everyone who has used this service to report them to the FTC for false advertising and have them shut down, and a class-action suit should follow to compensate those who were forced to pay them any amount of money. I certainly will be reporting them immediately.
Had this QR code made for my flyers. So its printed everywhere and now I have to pay 100 euros for it to work again while this service can be perfectly free.
QR code completely stop working after 14 day trial. Paid for a subscription prior to trial ending. So I forward email with a copy of QR code and was told that it couldn't be located, I sent another email with the email I used to sign up for it. I was told it's been escalated and haven't heard anything back.
They trick you into thinking the service is free, and you can generate a qr code that will live on for forever. WRONG! They deactivate your qr code after 14 days which in my case, I used these on my wedding invites and had already sent them out. The qr code was used to direct guests to a website to rsvp. To try and fix this, they let you pay but that is also misleading. Most consumers are being tricked into thinking its a monthly payment but YOU ARE PAYING FOR THE FULL YEAR AT ONCE. On top of that, there's no true way to reach out to the company BEWARE.
Only free for 14 days which is NOT MENTIONED on their website. After receiving business cards with their qr code printed on them, I get an email telling me my free trial is over and will have to pay a minimum of around $120 to keep using the code. Again, this free trial is not mentioned in there website. Shame on this company for scamming people.
It is so validating to have my unpleasant experience with this company echoed identically by so many reviews already here. Guess I should have looked here first! Same complaints, but also I accidentally signed up for their ridiculous $120 per year plan thinking it was $10 per year (it's $10 per month), realized my mistake instantly, and cancelled and requested a refund within minutes. After three email exchanges they continue to refuse to issue a refund. I have requested a charge reversal from my credit card company. I plan to cross-post these comments at Bitly (the parent company)'s page.
I saw no indication whatsoever that the codes I created for free would expire in 14 days and the only option to keep them active would be to sign up for a 1-year renewing subscription for over $100. They offer no monthly contract, no refunds on unused portions of canceled service, and no customer service suport of any kind (no calls, no chat, no email). Completely unethical business practices that amount to extortion if you need the QR code you created to remain active beyond 14 days. Shameful.
When you make a qr code. There is literally nothing that says it's not free.
I made thousands flyers with this "LOOKS LIKE FREE" QR code. And 14 days after,
The QR Code works no more. YOU HAVE TO PAY 120$ to revive this $#*!TY QR code.
And 120$ is the lowest plan they provide. I JUST CANNOT BELIEVE I did this.
My flyers are now USELESS.
Furthermore, If customer scan the USELESS QR, it makes me and my store looks stupid cause
They tnink I cannot make simple QR CODE right.
NEVER USE THIS WEBSITE. THEY ARE BASICALLY SCAMMER.
THEY LURE YOU WITH "LOOKS LIKE FREE" QR CODE. And then
They make your(not yours actually) QR CODE hostage and asking you for ridiculous amount of money.
There are dozens of qr code generators that are FREE. This one pretends to be free (no mention of any money at all!) until 2 weeks after you get your code - then they tell you it was actually a trial and you have to pay for it or they deactivate your qr code. It's a great system because by then you have distributed the qr code and they can hold you hostage.
Scamming company that force you after generating "free" QR Codes without warning to pay for their service. Cheaper to reprint my leaflets than pay their stupid costs so thanks for wasting my money.
This service is a real scum, they force you to PAY 150 euros for FREE QR codes. Please be careful and don't use it! After QR codes are made for free, you HAVE to pay. If not, they switch them off and all your marketing materials are just wasting of money and paper. There is a possibility to find a free plan (below payment options, in the Questions sector, they hide this information very well), but this is for static QR codes only. You cannot change dynamics to statics after you made a QR code. DON'T USE THIS SERVICE!
There are two different kinds of QR to generate, dynamic and static. Static is free, dynamic is not. It is not clear when you enter the website that if you create a dynamic QR code, you will lose access to this QR code unless you pay a subscription. I received a notification about receiving a scan on my code and clicked the link to check out the website and come to find that my QR code will be expiring in 10 days.
I was confused as to how I had made this mistake, and panicking because we have printed this QR code on signage, so I tried to create another one to see where I messed up.
When creating a QR code you are taken to a landing page where you can select what you want the QR code for (website, social media, etc) UNDERNEATH this list, in faint, tiny writing, it says static codes and there is a little plus button you hit to bring up the dropdown menu for static QR codes. It is purposefully hidden this way so you will miss it and select a dynamic code instead. Nowhere on this page does it explain the difference between a dynamic and static code and that you will eventually have to pay for one over the other.
This website and process is incredibly unclear and misleading. There is nowhere on the website to even contact anybody with a complaint. This appears to be a legitimate business but feels incredibly scammy with the way they basically trap you into using the dynamic codes.
Just found out that QR Code-generator.com wants me to pay 12 euros a month to display a simple qr code! Not a joke, this Bitly scam company is for real. The boss in Europe running this scam is Steffen Hetzel. Well done, Steffan, at least you put your name to the scam. Just as well we did not print QR code yet. Just replaced it with one of the many free offers.
Answer: Scam. They double charge and nothing they offer is free.
Answer: No, they are a bunch of robbing a*seholes through and through!

Answer: They responded to my inquiry after going through the "AI" assistant on their website by basically telling me to pay MORE money. So, there's that.
Answer: Hi, We apologize for the delay. You can contact us through the contact form which is available on the features and pricing page: http://my.qr-code-generator.com/features-and-p…. Thank You.
Answer: You have to go through their AI assistant to create a ticket. Really awful "AI" too, basically can't answer anything.
