The price increases should be illegal. My unit is a 10x10. It was $80 monthly. Suddenly without warning it was increased 3 figures. Now its $412. I thought it was an error. It was no error. They're thieves.
I was looking for storage space. My plans changed. Never even moved into storage space. Canceled reservation and public storage charged me $29 for admin fees. What fees, I never took possession or even received a key. Total rip off. Buyer beware. They will not give refund for the fee. Called Corp office and transfer to receptionist.

I signed up with Public Storage with a very nice employee who helped me choose the size I needed and it was only $1 for the first month. And then the price was $350/month after that. After the first month, when my next payment was due, I mistakenly thought I had signed up for autopay and assumed the money was going directly to them from my account. When I realized that the money didnt go through, I tried to explain it to them to see if I can have the late fee waived, yet they refused to budge. It was as if I was talking to a stone wall. And the late fee is $70! Not like a typical $25 or anything. And then after you are there for a few months and all your things are in their storage, when it would be way to complicated to switch them to somewhere else, they hike up the price. Mine went up $100 after 4 months. They know they got you, because it would be too much to switch everything to another storage now, so they know they can change the price on you and you're stuck. Also, they charge $15 insurance fee which you can take away on your own, but it doesn't seem like its so simple to do because I still haven't figured out how to do it yet.
The actual costumer service ppl are nice, its not their fault they work for a company that does not respect their customers and has terrible policies.

I am so pleased with our first unit at 7400 Alban Rd., Newington, VA that we have reserved a larger replacement unit. To get discount prices you need to register online, however it's completely computerized and impossible to reserve the way you wanted. Tina was on location and was able to give me great individual care. She also explained that if I had an further questions to stop by and either she or the storage manager would be glad to give me individual assistance. That is a blessing being able to talk to someone rather than using an automated system that you can not customize easily.
Please don't rent here. Con artist. Tell you one price to get you in, and then load you down with a lot of extra cost. First month for $1 is a lie. I have a 5 by 10. For a weak and a half I'm out of $140. My bill was supposed to be $60 a month after, 2 month for a $1
So I've tried contacting public storage and have been waiting over 10 hrs for a general manager to contact me. I have been sick with the RSV flu and COVID and I have not been able to go in the facility for long periods of time bc I'm drained. I show up after days of not being there and the bathrooms are once again as usual locked up. You have to beg to use the restrooms. Or they will tell no to go across the street and use the restrooms at Taco Bell or Carl's Jr. So when I got out of my car I go in the office one of the girls on the phone the other sitting twiddling her thumbs and I proceed to let her know I will not be renewing my contract. Had I known there was no bathroom availability I would have never opened an account. The manager gets off the phone and looks at me mind you in order to get into the hallways to the bathroom one has to put in a code. Well she looks at me and says. SO YOU'RE THE ONE THAT BROKE THE BATHROOM! Excuse me? I told her look I have not been here in days and check your cameras and key pad and that should tell you who broke the door. Again she says they have no cameras by the restroom. Ok but you have a key pad. Long story short I am 61 going on 62 and I will not allow some child behind a desk to disrespect me and accuse me of breaking a bathroom door. Who does that? I have been waiting all day for a general manager to contact me they assured me on the phone it would be a few hrs. 10 plus hrs later not even an email on this matter. Well what they don't know is my friend is a corporate attorney and if this is not resolved I will sue the $#*! out of public storage. Nobody should ever be accused of such bull$#*!! I have not been near there in days how dare her accuse me of breaking a bathroom door I'm not trash. Don't place your things in a public storage they are unprofessional and disgusting!
This is for the Rockbridge location Ms. Marcy was very helpful this morning and I really appreciate here for all her help made everything very easy process and stayed on the phone with me until everything was completed I really appreciate that

I've got a unit in late 2018 in my home town. I auto pay every month. This is on time guarantee money for them, making me a great customer. How do they pay you for that? They increase your rate and now I stead of $146 a month I am now paying $312 for the exact same unit. This is how good paying customers get treated. We will be moving our belongings as soon as we can. I advise to not give a dime to a company that treats good paying customers in such a way.
I used this storage facility for over a year. I had an issue with my closing, so I had to move out on the 2nd instead of the 1st. They charged me for the entire month. Terrible policy and customer service was the opposite of helpful.

We rented a unit in July and had no lights in unit itself or hall facing unit for 6 months. We notified on-site associate, we also called and emailed customer service and never got a response. Public Storage drafted from my bank account every month timely, $220. I guess the expectation of responsibility is only on the customers side. My husband had to climb in the dark over a a full unit in a 10 X 20 space…not safe. We were always directed back to the on-site associate whose hands were tied. These units should be made ready before anything is ever moved in or even rented out. We were told it was the baluster l, not the bulb. Can't be fixed after you load it up. Horrible experience.
