Priceline Reviews Summary

The overall reputation of the company reveals significant dissatisfaction among customers, primarily due to issues with booking accuracy, hidden fees, and inadequate customer service. Many reviews highlight frustrations with non-refundable reservations and uncommunicated changes, leading to feelings of being misled. While some customers appreciated the initial pricing, the subsequent hidden costs and lack of support during disputes overshadowed these positives. A recurring sentiment is a lack of accountability from the company, prompting numerous customers to vow never to use the service again. This feedback indicates a critical need for improved transparency and customer support practices.

Long time customer who HAD great success with Priceline until yesterday.
The hotel I had booked had accidently cancelled my reservation I had booked through Priceline. Both the hotel and I tried to reinstate the reservation and/or get a new reservation through the bid process at the same price.

First, the site hides the customer service phone number. It took me a while to get a live person. Next, once I was able to reach a live person, it was someone from a third world country I could hardly understand. All he could say I was sorry. I demanded to speak to his manager. That was a total waste of time. I tried to offer several solutions without any luck.

So, it appears, I will have to pay full price at the hotel because Priceline doesn't give it's manager's authority to reinstate mistakenly cancelled reservations or at the minimum create new numbers. The company doesn't care if the customer spends thousands of dollars of month and is a loyal customer. If it happened to this loyal customer, it probably happened to other loyal customers.

I expect its market share will begin to drop as more customers become disgruntled and the word gets out. There are too many other sites and life is too short to use this company again.

February 2013 was the first time I used Priceline and at least via the website, all went well. I rented an SUV at a great rate, and picked out their "mid-size". When I arrived at AVIS, they informed me that they had me down for their smallest size, which they termed "intermediate". In order to get "their" mid-size, which they call Standard, I had to pay $10 extra a day. I called Priceline and they told me I could pay the difference and they would work with AVIS to reimburse. Afterward, they concluded that I did not oblige by their contract and upgraded to Standard, which is AVIS's "mid-size". Priceline claims they are consistent with their vendor partners "verbiage". Well, they are not. They rented me a Mid-Size which to me is the "middle" size and AVIS doesn't even have a choice by that name. Be careful, at least with rental cars, as Priceline's choices differ from the actual rental car vendor and they are no help whatsoever, when a mistake occurs.

Booked a hotel through priceline. When we got here we were not happy with the hotel so we tried to change. We were going to book another hotel through priceline, but they wouldn't refund us for the unused nights. It's "against their policy". I will never use them again. If you need to make a change for any reason, it's tough and they don't even pretend to care.

I booked a room on Priceline and thought i was getting a great deal. The hotel's website was $50 cheaper than Priceline's price. What's the point?

Booked a car rental with them and made a mistake by prepaying the car rental insurance with them. I lost my DL, and had to cancel my reservation with the car rental agency. Priceline refused to refund the prepaid car insurance bought through them. Do not buy car rental insurance through them, go directly to the car rental counter. I was out $44 for 4 days, just imagine if it was longer.

As you can see on BBB.org there has been 2936 complaints against PRICELINE and that's just one site! You can see just how many complaints there are on the "Ripoff Report". You may ask yourself why is there so many complaints against a company that is service based? First of all, I can truly say " they do not care about me as a customer " and apparently they dont care about 1000's of others! I have had an issue that I've been trying to resolve for 2 days. Multiple calls & emails. It has to do with star ratings & you can see 1000's of other customers have had similar complaints. I wont go into huge detail, other then I booked a 4 star hotel & when I won my bid I did further research on the property. I found Trip Advisor & Expedia both had it at 3 1/2 stars, 4 other travel web sites had it as low as a 3 star hotel. This upsets me greatly! The 2 leading travel authorities show it as 3 1/2 & 4 other sites show it as 3, there is a major problem! My interactions with customer service is by far the WORST I have ever experienced! They just DON'T CARE about you as a customer. Even after I sent them all the documentation on the property, they still REFUSED TO DO THE RIGHT THING! When I told them I write travel reviews & will be writing a review a day for the next 7 days, I was told go ahead. It is SAD in today economy all we want is what is FAIR & RIGHT, they just DON'T CARE ABOUT YOU AS A CUSTOMER! They would rather have you ANGRY & UPSET, THEN DO THE RIGHT THING & HAVE A SATISFY CUSTOMER! I JUST DON'T GET THEIR RUDENESS! All I can say 1000's of consumers cant be wrong, DO NOT USE PRICELINE.COM! YOU BEEN WARNED!

This company is a scam. I cannot wait until the law catches up with them. I would normally write a review but it already took me a very long time in order to get my issue resolved, and Price line is simply not worth a second more of my time! Please anyone reading this stay away from this company, it is run by people who care absolutely nothing about their customers! STAY AWAY!

Horrible scamming business! Their website gives you options and leads you to believe that you are getting what you want... only to have something different on the contract... and their guarantee... HA! A piece of used toilet tissue has more substance to it. Beware... stay away from these scammers!

This website SUCKS!
January 5, 2013

This website SUCKS! Don't ever use the name your own price option because they will just book you for a hotel even if you didnt approve it! And on top of that they won't let you cancel your reservation so you are stuck with whatever they book you for even without your permission!

If you are using Google Chrome, and bidding, you had better bid high enough the first time or the site will not acknowledge the increased bid. I generally just give up and go to Hotwire and get it done. They are losing mega bucks on this glitch. It has been going on for at least 2 years. They see you fail and click out of the their site. Do you think someone is really minding the store.

Not!

For several days I have been trying to book an airline flight through Priceline's cheap fares. Every time I try to book a flight, the price goes up $150 to $200. I try a similiar flight, up to five and it is the same story. Priceline is using the old bait and switch game. I would give them no stars if it was possible.

I pointed out different things at least four times and they changed them four times! I would never call their customer service again because they are bull$#*!!

Review every word on their policy. They will fight you tooth and nail in order to make sure they keep your money. They are not worth the head ache if you have any last minute changes and their operators are highly condescending. I will never use them again.

Called them within 4 minutes of purchasing the wrong date! In fact purchased for the day of at 10pm instead of the next day...

When I called they offered me a cancelation refund of 0.00. Then they explained that if I purchase another room from them fro the correct date that they would refund some of my purchase except for a $25.00 change fee. By the way Jimmy? Employee number ******* says there is not anyone else I could speak to! Hasn't he seen Star Trek?

Well I guess it was my fault for the wrong dates! But really 4 minutes... THIS WILL BE THE LAST OF MY $$$ THEY EVER SEE...

Booked a hotel through one of their affiliates, kentucky-hotels.org, which is just priceline. First, no better deal that just calling the hotel. Second, when I came down with a raging flu and couldn't keep the reservation, even though all hotels provide a 24-hour cancellation/grace period (and some 8 hours), Priceline charged me $25 to cancel. Further, an odd thing happened. The rep I was talking to first told me that if she could talk to my doctor, she could waive the $25 fee. I gave her my doctor's number, she put me on hold, came back, said she had called my doctor and verified my information, but then said she was going to charge me $25 anyway. Why do that to someone? Was this an identity theft attempt? I don't know, but I'll never use Priceline again.

I don'y know how any of that information relates to me being told I am getting a $25 credit off my next rental and really receiving $5 of my next rental(one day). I spent $95 in taxi fees because you did not link my flight with car rental. Thus when I got off the plane they were closed. I had to take a cab both ways. I get a one day rental credit in return but it is a complete sham you will only give me $5 off my one day rental. I even attempted to link my rental manually on the airplane but the rental reference code was incorrect! Because of your carelessness I spent $120 on a rental and $95 on a taxi to get to my hotel and you offer me no refund only a credit for my rental car company being closed(because you never sent them any info, not even my phone number) then when I get my credit will not even cover on day of rental. Your company is very un-American and a scam.
You made me pay for two days of renting a car even though I could not get the car because Alamo was closed and you and Alamo refused to help get me back from my hotel to the rental, no buss no shuttle just a $50 cab ride. I am on a very strict budget and confirmed every flight and was not late but still had to pay over $100 out of my pocket for your mistake. Alamo was not much better but at least they could prove you never contacted them or gave them any info.

I always wait about 4 weeks before I wright a negative review. This case was no different. I am still sore about how I was treated. I still remember talking on the phone to an outsourced customer service person when I got off the plane and said I don't have $100 for a taxi ride can you transfer my rental to Avis they are open and have cars? "There is nothing we can or are willing to do for you tonight"

Charged by Priceline and the rental car company (Hertz) neither of which was able to resolve the issue. I now have to dispute the charge with my credit card company. This is the last time I will be using either company.

On September 25, I booked a round trip flight for November 9-12 for a class I was taking in Tampa, FL, and I opted to purchase the $16 travel insurance. My class was cancelled, and I called the Travel Insurance company, who advised me that because my cancellation was not due to the death or disability of myself or an immediate family member, my trip was non refundable! I was transferred to Priceline, who told me that Delta Airlines would offer me a credit, however Priceline would charge me cancellation and convenience fees totaling over $200! And to top it all off, the CSR Supervisor hung up on me! I was livid!
I decided to call Delta, who credited me the full purchase price! Priceline has the WORST customer service I have ever experienced. I will NEVER book with Priceline again!
