Photobucket's reputation has significantly declined, primarily due to its shift from a free service to a subscription model, which many customers perceive as exploitative. Users express frustration over losing access to their photos unless they pay, with complaints about poor customer support and a cumbersome user interface. While some reviews note recent improvements in site functionality and reduced advertisements, the overall sentiment remains negative, highlighting a lack of trust and dissatisfaction with business practices. When you're thinking about online photo hosting sites and think of Photobucket, stop and move along. Trust me, they suck in every way.
I had been using photobucket for image hosting and was happy until I found one day that all my images were replaced saying I had to pay to get them back. I will not tolerate a website that uses such tactics to get money. Never using photobucket again!
It's becoming impossible to use their service. If you have a free account you are battered with ads. If you have a pay account (you still might be battered with ads and their help department is sad and very unhelpful). Starting soon if you use post images in forums be papered to pay $400 for them to allow you to post! Greedy companies die from driving away customers and looks like Photobucket is on it's way down the drain.
The ad's are getting worse, the site has gone downhill in the last few years, you try to open up a picture you've uploaded and all you get it errors or more ad's. I've literally just deleted my account. I am not getting pressured into paying to remove the ad's they've forced on us.
The following is a message I sent to Photobucket.
"Well, after receiving an e-mail telling me my account expired, I thought it was odd. I was on a monthly $2.99 plan as I have been for at least 5 years.
So, I logged in to discover that you (Photobucket) once again, very covertly, cancelled all current subscriptions, raised prices, and mandated a yearly paid in full amount. Mind you, I discovered this after 30 minutes of wading through a mine-field of FULL PAGE click-bait ads that quite LITERALLY make your site absolutely unusable. I guess someone thought this was a genius way to force people into paying. That's actually just extortion.
I don't mind paying for the service, really. I've done it for many years. Photobucket, have some class. Be professional and go to a membership only format with a clean inviting welcome mat. Right now you (Photobucket) are just garbage using extortion as a sales tactic.
Unbelievable. Unprofessional. Absolutely unacceptable.
Needless to say, you will not be receiving another payment from me in any amount.
By the way, (and I'm sure you (Photobucket) already know) I'm not alone in this opinion. Good luck retaining customers, let alone attracting new ones."
I was a customer of their free site when they froze my account because it was at 101% first partly so I could not add any more photos unless I paid, which was okay with me, as I am unemployed but I know that better service comes at a price, but suddenly, last week, they said my account was at 143% and fully froze it. When I inquired about it, they went over all my content and said because I had posted content that was"offensive", I was BANNED! That on top of not answering my question and taking down ALL of my content of which some I needed to save because they had my only copy!
Photobucket is getting greedier and sleazier year by year. My paid account used to include "ad-free" but then I was getting ads saying "pay $1 more for no more ads!" Instead of getting an email reminding me to update my credit card info, my account reverted to a free account and many of my high res images were never restored.
And then this time, I was told I needed to update my credit card info (could have sworn I wasn't supposed to pay again until August but whatever) and there was no way to do it. "Customer service" never responded and then I was locked out of my account and told I needed to upgrade, even though I don't need more storage space! So I paid literally more than double what I paid before to access my account again. They raise the price of their paid accounts so you have no choice but to upgrade if you want access to your photos. From now on, I'm storing my photos on an external hard drive and I'll find another online company. I've tolerated BS from them for years and I'm finally done with them.
I have been a member of Photobucket since 2004 and have a few accounts with them. Over the last few years though, I have not been pleased. Website is very laggy. I have a custom built computer with a high speed processor and Photobucket has froze and locked up my computer twice in the last hour. I am currently trying to get everything off my accounts and closing them permanently and going with another service. 13 years and I just can't deal with it anymore.
At one point in time, PhotoBucket wasn't half bad. Now, they are by far the WORST image sharing website out there. They are so riddled with Ad's and popups that the site is unusable. Everything is incredibly slow and glitches and errors are constant. This site is a perfect example of "how to destroy your business and piss off all of your customers". Even the paid version which advertises "less ad's" is terrible. What a garbage site...
A full collection (several thousand photographs) have disappeared from my 'Photobucket Pages'
To date all I am receiving to e-mails are 'Robotic Replies' I really would appreciate a response and of course my photographs being returned.
Photobucket lost my entire photo collection and they did't even have a back up or offer any compensation. They are now ignoring my requests for support and have blocked me from messaging them via Twitter.
So they lost ALL of my data then are simply ignoring me. They should be shot.
My entire collection GONE!
A convenient tool for placing images to forum pages (the ones that do not still support the function themselves). Could have a little less ads, those are annoying even with adblock or such.
This was my first time using photobucket. The worst worst experience ever. I would not use them ever nor I would I recommend them to anyone. I placed my order on Dec 10 and it stated guaranteed delivery 12/23 if your order is placed before 12/11. I then received a confirmation email and an email stating my shipment was on its way with one tracking number for both items. I received one of my items on time as guaranteed, however the second item didn't arrive.
Then I find out that photobucket only has an email method for customer service inquiries, you cannot speak to anyone. The customer service was horrible, it was pathetic and not helpful at all. This is the response I got from several personnel "we are sorry" "unfortunately delays happen"?
They then sent me a completely different tracking number after that for the item that didn't arrive and when I track it, for 5 days it's been in transit in Denver? I sent photobucket pictures and attachments with the whole guaranteed delivery note on their website when I made the purchase, no one addressed that. All I got was "sorry"
They are very misleading, poor customer feedback and service and the worst part you can't even speak to anyone, it's like they hide behind email communication. I would have rated them a zero if I could, they don't even deserve a 1 star. It's also time consuming placing the order because of all the pop up ads and delays with uploading and the page freezes the pop ups are so annoying just like the customer service.
They suck period.
I cannot begin to express my displeasure and disappointment with how far Photobucket has fallen. I used to recommend it to all my friends and family, because it was a great way to store photos and diagrams online. I could link directly to images, arrange them in convenient folders, etc. Now the site is so infested with ads and popups that are capable of defeating popup blockers and ad blockers that it's virtually useless. Half the time it refuses to load an image, and the rest of the time it hogs up a huge amount of my computer's resources. Most of the time when the image does load, it's not on for more than a few seconds before a screen-filling ad screaming about "WHAT DOCTORS DON'T WANT YOU TO KNOW!" will pop up and refuse to go away even after I click the "X", mainly because my computer was so bogged down with whatever scripts they run that it wasn't able to get rid of it for a few seconds. For some reason they no longer allow you to link directly to the image. You are always pulled to the main hosting page, probably so you can see all the "wonderful" ads. The site is so troublesome that I've given up on it ever getting better. I've moved to Imgur and it was one of the best decisions of my life.
I get send from the website to a 3rd party scammer stating my phone is infected with a virus. Yeh right. They can forget site traffic from me as I upload to mega upload and I want my pictures off photobucket.
I placed an order for a custom blanket for a Christmas present on the 5th of December. ( Today is the 19th) I started worrying about where this blanket is since it hasn't arrived yet and I have not heard from Photobucket. They have the order on hold and never informed me. They took the money out of my account on the 5th, but won't even get in touch with me. The only phone number you can find for them is *******800 and it is an automated answering machine that gives you an email address and then hangs up. I can't speak to anyone to find out what is going on. I am now fighting to figure out how I can get the money back since I paid with a debit card and the bank doesn't refund debit purchases very easily. I may be out a lot of money and no product. Please don't ever use photobucket.com.
If you value your images, your time & your pc-
Don't use this site. I was hit with a barrage of
Malicious pop-ups on Photobucket & when I
Tried to download my albums, I got even more.
I deleted my account, but I lost all my images
Because the pop-ups prevented me from taking
Them with me.
I've been using Photobucket since 2004. Over the years they've stuffed more and more ads into their site, while offering nothing new to their customers. They are so bogged down with ads now that the site is utterly useless. I subscribed a year ago to get rid of the ads. They took their payment less than a week ago for this month, then I get an email from Paypal (not Photobucket) telling me that Photobucket cancelled my account. So they took my money and then cancelled my account without having the decency to even tell me! I tried to open their site and got a sleazy full page ad that I couldn't get rid of, even after I closed and opened their page several times and tried it with three different browsers. I emailed their support asking why I was cancelled, they didn't bother to reply. Now I've lost access to over 10 years worth of my own photos and videos.
I am a longtime (7+ years) user of Photobucket, but over the last few years this site has become so terminally ILL and dysfunctional that it has literally DIED when it comes to doing what we expect from it. It's now only a mere STINKING ROTTEN CORPSE waiting to be consumed by MAGGOTS! Yes, it still does a good job of uploading PICs from my PC onto its servers, but after that, it is all downhill to the level of pure TORTURE trying to use it. Every click seems to trigger an avalanche of Ads activity - bars, fames pop overs. Enter the world of WAITING FOREVER before anything productive can happen. It even tries ti install an APP now every time I login, and that APP would no doubt leverage even more ads and revenue generating snooping and data mining onto my system.
I load a PIC that's right side up on my PC and it arrives there upside down. How long does it take to fix forever. Why? Because orientation can only be fixed in the editor and even though the editor APP will load, IT WILL NOT load even one single PICs to edit/fix. So what if PIC arrives there & needs no editing, and you just need to get the sharing LINK copied. How many clicks in the "Get Links" frame does that take? You never know - 5, 10, 25 100... maybe never.
Only way I can get a share link is the load the slide show app (which DOES work well) and pause it on PIC in need a link for, then RT-Click to capture needed link. This site has become a filthy & degenerating ad scum infested location on the web to have to use, and the only time I feel good about it is when I CLOSE THE TAB it was crawling in. Then, I need to take a shower!
I am GONE as soon as i find another site with a migration tool for my library.
Answer: Pay to keep your photos there or lose 2/3 of them, Taken away the option of bulk download which means download 1 photo at a time of 1000's of photos and do it before photobucket deletes them all because rule changes put you over their new limit. Extortion.
Answer: Because it does. They make you click around madly to get out of the "pay us money" options just to get to your library, and then they force ads... 19 of them per page... and won't allow mass downloads.
Answer: I don't recommend using the mobile site, as phones (especially Apple), adblockers don't work and still flood up your screen. My worse experience is the m@ms ads that take over the screen and reappears every time you refresh or go to another page. TV commercials is better than this.
