Today is July 2 and I called the Pep Boys in Conyers Ga off Salem road to fix my tire which had a nail in it. I arrived and was greeted by all the workers in the store. The manager, I'm assuming was the manager was on a call but he mouthed to me that he would be with me shortly. Once he was done with his call he turned his attention over to me and got my truck right in. I waited less than a hour and when my truck was finished I was told NO CHARGE for patching my tire. The customer service was already at its highest but the kindness of the no charge made it even better. I've used this store several times and have always had a great experience but the crew today was amazing. Wish I had gotten names but it was the Pep Boys in Conyers Ga on Salem road and this took place at 1100 on July 2. Just want the credit to go to the ones who deserves it… THANK YOU!

I recently had the unfortunate experience of dealing with Pep Boys, and I must say it was an absolute nightmare. From start to finish, everything about my visit to this auto service center was a disaster. I strongly advise against choosing Pep Boys for any of your automotive needs.

First and foremost, the customer service at Pep Boys was abysmal. The employees seemed disinterested and lacked basic knowledge about the products and services they offered. When I asked for assistance, they were dismissive and seemed more focused on their personal conversations than helping customers. It was clear that providing satisfactory service was not a priority for them.

To make matters worse, the quality of workmanship was appalling. I brought my car in for a routine oil change, and they managed to botch it up completely. Not only did they take an excessively long time to complete the job, but they also failed to tighten the oil filter properly, leading to a leak. This negligence resulted in extensive damage to my engine and required costly repairs. It was a clear display of incompetence and lack of attention to detail.

Moreover, the pricing at Pep Boys was exorbitant. They charged significantly more for their products and services compared to other reputable auto service centers in the area. It felt like they were trying to take advantage of customers by inflating prices without providing any additional value. It was a blatant rip-off and a clear example of their greed.

Lastly, the overall organization and cleanliness of the facility were subpar. The waiting area was dirty and disorganized, with outdated magazines and uncomfortable seating. The lack of cleanliness and order gave the impression that Pep Boys did not prioritize maintaining a professional environment for their customers.

In conclusion, my experience with Pep Boys was nothing short of a nightmare. The combination of terrible customer service, shoddy workmanship, inflated prices, and a disorganized facility makes me strongly advise against ever using their services. Save yourself the headache and choose a reputable auto service center that values its customers and delivers quality work. Pep Boys should be avoided at all costs.

Pep Boys (Spring Hill, FL) site says: We take responsibility, deliver what's promised and honor commitments to our peers, partners and customers. We communicate honestly, openly and proactively with our peers, partners and customers.
Not True. Had picked up a nail in the road. Dropped my car off at 11:30. Told the fix would be done between 2 and 3 PM. At 4, I called and was told that my insurance claim had not been approved.
I called the insurance company and found out the call for insurance had not been placed (4 hours later). Received the insurance approval immediately (with Pep Boys on the line). On that call Pep Boys said "It does not get done any faster if you call it in". (so we {the customers} know where we stand. We are lower on line that the Pep Boys Staff. WE pay the bills, but are considered less that their staff.)
When I received up my car the repaired tire was set 6 pounds heavier than the other tires and beyond the rated range.
Pep Boys does NOT deliver what's promised. Does NOT honor commitments. Does Not communicate clearly. Considered their staff are better people than their customers.
This was fix a hole in a tire. What could go wrong on a more complex repair.

Ethan Goober
May 26, 2023

Ethan Goober sure does has a funny way of being professional. I was in for a simple inspection yesterday, everything was fine outside of the dude running the front desk asks me for my keys (which I just handed to him / he misplaced). 45m later everything was good to go, or so I thought. I show up to register my car, and their Tech Timothy Williams entered the license plate number wrong, mixing up the letters. I called today for some assistance / customer service but Ethan Goober had other plans. This peeked in high school guy, Ethan Goober, refused to apologize for his tech's ignorant mistake and refused to take any accountability for said (dumb) mistake. If you see Ethan Goober, know that he's fake (super polite when you're paying) and miserable (unprofessional goober when you need help). No customer service, just told me to "Take it up with Pep Boys" and hung up. Yeah, okay. I'll take it up with Pep Boys, no problem, Ethan Goober.

After waiting for about 2 hours, Pep Boys installed two tires for a total of $153, which included a labor charge of $135 and an install fee of $17. They didn't provide a written estimate beforehand, and the advertised price of tire install was "as low as $15.99. So I felt a little scammed as I could have saved money by going to a smaller tire shop that only charges a small fee for tire installation. I learned a valuable lesson about researching prices and being aware of hidden fees.

I went here on Monday morning to get my windshield wipers linkage replaced in Savannah, Georgia. The mechanic at the front desk gave me several quotes. Initially when I arrived, he quoted something like $214 for the repair. Then he took it upon himself to start adding things to the repair to inflate the bill like three windshield wipers. I inquired about how three wipers came into this repair and he tried to explain I needed them; this was a lie because I had just purchased new ones recently. I told him to take those off because I did not request them; always ask customer first before just adding things on the bill. So, now this was about $400 totaled up. I decided not to do the repair at the time because the warranty was not paying for it. I did pay the diagnostic fee of $89. When I was getting ready to leave, I asked him to print me out an itemized quote and this time this bill came to $458 even though I had paid the diagnostic fee. I questioned him on why this bill kept inflating each time, and he was stumped just saying "This is how much it is." I told him this was not so and he was only a thief trying to rip customers off because I had previously gotten a quote total $250 from another shop. I told him he thinks people are stupid and he would be reported. He then told me he did not care. I hope they fire this guy, or he goes to jail because he is helping to bring on lawsuits against this company. He just can't go around charging people "willy nilly" prices and think they are fools. Any and every one reading this, please be careful with this ripoff company and take your vehicle elsewhere for ethical repairs. This place is garbage!

They guess what the problem may be without giving your car a proper diagnosis they quote you an obscene amount of money and then tell you that they just want to let you know that their service may not fix your problem and it won't be their fault?

Leaking on the axle end up costing me over $800
February 20, 2023

I went in for a wheel aligment and brakes which has a lifetime warranty. I get a call that the axle is leaking and needs replacement and is going to cost about $200 to fix it. I'm like ok change it. I get another call half an hour later - "we can't get your axle out, we will need to replace the hub axle assembly". I'm like don't do the work I'll come back for it later. "We damaged the hub trying to get the axle out so we can't put it back". How much is the hub? About $400. I went in thinking I was going to spend 300 to 400 dollars at Pep Boys and end up with an invoice over $1400. I had to fight to get a %10 off. I end up charging to my car $1294. I feel like if the mechanic was trying to get the axle out and could not they should have call me and say we can't get the axle out and if we try to force we are running the risk of damagin the hub assembly. Do you want us to force it out? That should have been the question.

I took my vehicle to the East Norriton location for a simple oil change and they not only damaged parts on my vehicle but other parts are missing as well (photos of proof). I have reached out to the location, as well as the corporate location and no one has answered me in over a month. The location I took my vehicle to was supposed to watch the video, but conveniently the video system was down. If you want your car to be messed up and get no response or replacements of the damaged parts, then feel free to trust PepBoy's for that! Also, oil was leaking because they did not close it properly!

Black Friday Scam
January 26, 2023

I ordered 4 tires on Black Friday. Their by 2 get 2 free deal. Few hours later I called to verify my appointment. I was told they do not have the tires in stock and I would have to wait until they came in. That was 8 weeks ago. Still have no tires. All they can do for me is sell me more expensive tires and give me 100 dollars off. It would be 400 dollars more than the tires I ordered. Horrible experience. I will never go to pepboys again. It was nothing more than a scam so they can upcharge you to another product. I ended up going to Firestone.

I went to get an alignment that comes with a new tires that they didn't perform during installation of my tires, I was told that I can come anytime. But now Jason, the manager, said that it's only good for 90 days. My paperwork did not say that and he had the nerve to say, I will do it for 69 dollars, I said, I will spend a million bucks somewhere and not give them a cent! Will never do business with any pep boys ever again!

Worst service ever
November 9, 2022

All I came to the pep boys on military hwy in Virginia for was a tune up and a state inspection on my car. He suggested I get the fluids looked at as well. He then procceded to get me to pay 650 dollars for the service. I informed him that this was absolutely insane and I just wanted the tune up and inspection. That came out to be 340.27 cents. And they added a service i didnt need to my total. My inspection failed and they estimated fixing everything would be 1700 dollars and 600 of that is parts and the other 1100 is "labor cost" despite the job only taking a day. Never coming back and I suggest you don't either. The man who works there named Allen is trying to take your money. Plain and simple

Terrible experience
October 14, 2022

I have been coming to Pep Boys in Collegeville for a few years now, and in the past year I've been having significant issues with the location. My catalytic converter on my 2016 Chevy Trax was replaced and not long after my check engine light came back on. The system check said there was an issue with the catalytic converter again. It was checked and there was not, They cleared the light, and told me if it kept coming back on, they would replace the converter under warranty. The light came back on. I brought the car back. They told me they had to run the code again. The same thing happened. They told me they'd check with the dealership and get back to me about replacing the converter. They did not. I called, I came in, I've had oil changes and tires replaced and each time, I ask about the code and the converter and each time I'm told that one of the guys is "working on it". Now I'm at a point where the warranty is up and they still haven't fixed the issue, despite my having several appointments dedicated to just that.

As I write this, I'm sitting in the store waiting for the 4 tires I had put on 2 weeks ago to be checked because they started losing air as soon as I drove them away. They tried to tell me that I must have run over something, so I had the tires checked at CJ Tires just to make sure, and was told to go back to Pep Boys and demand my money back or to have the tires replaced because the two left tires are leaking air, not form any damage I have done to them. I called to make an appointment and I was told they'd call me back. They didn't. I stopped in to make an appointment and was given one, but when I got here for my appointment I was told that it was going to be an extremely long wait. Either they're overbooking the cars or they're not hiring enough people, but I have never waited fewer than 2 hours here, even for an oil change.

Booked an appointment to have my AC checked and fixed at PepBoys PICO store. During the online appointment step, I entered my car model and year. When I got to PepBoys PICO store, I was told they will have it tested and then I will be contacted regarding additional fees related to the repair. After 1.5 hours, I got a call that they don't have the machine to test my AC!
So I left, without getting my AC checked, and wasted an hour and a half.
