Overstock's reputation is significantly marred by customer dissatisfaction, particularly regarding its customer service and return policies. Many customers report frustrations with delayed deliveries, inadequate support, and challenges in processing returns or exchanges. Issues with product quality, such as receiving damaged or misrepresented items, further exacerbate negative sentiments. Conversely, some customers appreciate the variety of products and find value in the selection offered. However, the prevalent concerns about service inefficiencies and lack of accountability overshadow these positives, leading to a general sentiment of caution among potential buyers.

Ordered a 23.98 rug and would not fit, placed another order for larger rug. They sent me RGA to return the first rug and charged me 29.00 shipping to return. If they had told me that up front I would have keep the rug. What a rip off. WILL NEVER NEVER NEVER purchase anything again from them...

I have been buying from overstock on and off for years. I think I've received something broken once which was replaced immediately and received something once that I did not like out of the many many many purchases I've made. My experience with overstock has been nothing but pleasant.
I ordered a $4K+ bedroom from overstock in early November. After waiting more than 5 weeks for delivery, my $$K+ bedroom suit was delivered without parts. I called customer service because now my bedroom is inhabitable. I have parts all over my bedroom floor. See the pictures attached. The mattress is against the window. I called overstock to get HELP. I asked for a Supervisor to assist me. His name was Paul. He started by reading a card about how sorry he was about my experience, blah, blah. He told me that he could reach out to his partners to get some parts shipped out. Still not understanding my dilemma, I asked to speak with a Manager. He said it would take 2 days for a Manager to respond. Again, I asked Paul if he was understanding my issue. That I was basically without someplace to sleep for the night. Again, he said that he could reach out to his partners to investigate why the parts and instructions were missing. He told me that it would take 2 days for anyone to respond from Overstock. I WILL NEVER SHOP AT OVERSTOCK AGAIN. The customer service is non-existent. The pictures attached reflect my pain and dissatisfaction with Overstock!
So, I ordered a total of about seven items on Overstock recently. They sent one item to an incorrect address, another was said to be available and then showed as back ordered until a month after the purchase once the transaction went through, and two others came to me, most likely knock offs, and shrunk down to doll clothes when I washed them per the instructions. Their customer service couldn't provide any support due to these being "marketplace sellers" and I was rebuked when I brought the issue to the seller, resolutely. This is exactly what happened on Amazon. They began selling knock offs, then they pushed all of the blame on the "marketplace sellers" and pushed off all blame for people getting ripped off. I will stop shopping with them as of today. Good luck to others who continue.
I ORDERED A PINK CHRISTMAS TREE FOR MY GRANDDAUGHTER ON NOV 27 WITH RECEIPT ON OR BEFORE DEC 7. WHEN I CHECKED 3 DAYS LATER, INFORMATION ONLY SAID "LABEL CREATED". LIVE CHATTED WITH AGENT WHO INFORMED ME TREE HAD SHIPPED AND WOULD BE DELIVERED ON OR BEFORE DEC7. KEPT CHECKING TRACKING. SAME NOTICE "LABEL CREATED". CHATTED WITH AGENT AGAIN ON 12/2 AND SHE SAID THEY WOULD GET UPDATED SHIPPING FROM SUPPLIER. ITEM HASN'T SHIPPED; NO ONE SEEMS TO KNOW WHY. CANCELLED ORDER. ORDER TREE FROM ANOTHER WEBSITE. PAID FOR 2 DAY SHIPPING. WILL PROBABLY NOT ORDER ANYTHING FROM OVERSTOCK IF I NEED IT BY A PARTICULAR TIME. VERY DISAPPOINTING.
Ordered 2 gorgeous nightstands from Overstock as they had by far the best price and availability on them. One arrived damaged and Overstock took care of it easily and graciously. I highly recommend ordering from Overstock due to their low pricing and exceptional customer service.
You must think 2 twice when you buy in Overstock they charge me 270 for a return! Took all my money for free
Really bad experience with this website
Purchased a patio chair set, and it came missing hardware and contained damaged parts. Customer service was dreadful, slow and nearly useless. After a month, I got replacement parts which also were damaged. The offered O Club membership (who cares?) and site credit (really after this experience?). This is the last purchase on Overstock.com for me. I couldn't be more disappointed by a company!
Read Everything, buyer beware. There policies fall somewhat out of normal expectations. Id rather stay mainstream, than go with this particular online option, they have trash customer service, and hopefully all goes well because you're screwed once you order. Buyer Beware
We tried 2 orders with these people. The first was a faux marble top bar table. The underside of the table had 4 pre-drilled holes where the base attached. The base couldn't be attached however because the holes were too far apart to align with the pre-drilled holes in the table top. Not even close! Returning this has been on going drama, still unresolved.
The second order was for 2 black diamond pattern bar stools. We only received one, not black, but orange!
Quality control does not exist here, buy at your own peril.
Overstock has no concern for the customer. I will stick with Wayfair, Amazon and Walmart as my top 3 online stores. First time I purchases from overstock and what I got was not as described. They basically did not believe me. It was the first and last time for me!
Navigating the Overstock website is frustrating as the webmaster and anyone else involved in designing it, has crowded so much information on the pages that unless you know exactly what you're doing, you will probably have questions about the products. I would be very wary of the consumer REVIEWS on the website since Overstock.com keeps pushing buyers to leave reviews of products and reviews of the site in general since you get added discounts for reviews--the more reviews the better the discounts, but it's fairly apparent the reviews had better be four or five stars. Just to experiment I looked up comforters for $30 or less since comforters that cheap have been poorly made from my experience. All reviews were 4 or 5 stars! As a comparison, I looked at the site of one of Overstock's competitors, and there were plenty of 3 star reviews and even a couple of 2 star reviews for furniture/furnishings. Most likely, people are leaving better reviews on overstock to get discounts for future purchases. The site I used as a comparison didn't mention any such offer. I ordered an item, which was advertised as 'easy to assemble.' It wasn't! Besides that, the item--which I needed quickly--had a delivery date but the delivery was two days late, and too late for my being able to use the item. As it turned out, to return the item required a $60.00 (sixty dollar) return fee which was hardly worth it given that was 50% of the purchase price. Now, if the website provided easy links to return policies, I wouldn't be that upset, but to find the policies requires searching through lots of menus. I've been using computers for 30 years, and it was hard for me to find their policy. Regarding customer service, I spoke to someone that clearly did not understand a simple inquiry I had. I spent 30 minutes on the phone with the person, and while the person (I'm trying to be gender neutral) acted as though I had communicated clearly, it became apparent later on that the person didn't. BTW, after your purchase, you'll get lots of thank you emails for your trouble, and questionnaires to fill out so they can improve their quality control. The best and smartest way to improve your shopping experience is to take your business elsewhere.
I purchased a great looking velvet couch with a chaise. Upon assembling the couch the chaise which need need 4 legs were only predrilled with 3, I called customer service to report the issue. Overstock email me only one option. Disassemble the couch shipping it back to them for a full refund, they also included that he part could not be replaced. What a bummer, they offered me nothing, nothing at all. I ask to speak to a manager, put me on whole forever. I had to call the corporate office and leave a message. I'm never buying anything else for Overstock. There customer service left a bad taste in my mouth. Dissatisfied Disgruntled
Customer service is horrible. I returned a vanity light almost a year ago & have documents that show the return with a zero balance. It's the only purchase I made with their Comenity Bank credit card & should have a credit balance. I made a $50 payment to keep my account from being reported negatively during their investigation. My credit rating was over 750 before this, now it's fluctuating around 625. Overstock has been of no help & I've sent documentation to Comenity multiple times. It's damaging my credit score terribly. They're saying I owe almost $300 for a light that was returned that only cost about $150 originally. They're harassing me non-stop and it's super stressful. I fear I'm going to have to pay for a debt I did not incur, just to keep the situation from hurting me more. I've disputed it on all credit reports but have had no help.
Would not recommend Comenity or Overstock. They're both HORRIBLE.
I bought a bookcase which had not reached its destination. Their logistic company damaged it. I am still waiting for a refund, for more than one week. I had to involve my credit card company to get a charge back. I'll never buy again.
I bought a gazebo in April and by August is was faded as if I had it several years. I contacted Overstock company who referred me to the manufacturer who was no help and referred me back to overstock. I am requesting a partial refund for the product. I purchased it from Overstock and do not understand why I'm getting the runaround!
I ordered an item and tried to cancel it within the 30 minute cancellation window and I was told by overstock they couldn't cancel my order because it was already sent to their partner. I reminded them I had requested to cancel within their own policy and they basically told me, oh well, so sad. They said they would "try" to get the warehouse to stop the shipment but that there was no guarantee. The guarantee should be I followed their policy, and so should they. Do not order from this website.
Overstock.Com Charged us twice for the same merchandise. DO NOT GIVE YOUR CREDIT CARD INFO unless you want to be overcharged for cheap merchandise. When our Credit card company looked into Overstock showed them something else & we were still double charged. We ended up having to change our credit card #. Please Be AWARE & Check your statements for at least 60-90 days after you receive your items. Do Not Let this happen to you!
I recently purchased ~$10,000 in furnishings for my new home which included a $1,500 King mattress. Upon receiving the mattress, I lied down on it and realized that it was too tall for my platform and too soft for my liking. My request for a refund was rejected because Overstock.com policy states the following:
"You will only qualify for a full refund for damaged or defective mattresses, mattress sets, or foundations if you refuse the item(s) at the time of delivery. If damage/defects are found after delivery, please notify us immediately."
It is impossible to know that you will like furniture simply by viewing it on a website. Furniture is used in our living spaces and therefore, we can only know if it meets our needs if we "experience" it in our living space. Overstock.com fails to realize this important fact and therefore, I will never waste another dollar with them.
I ordered 2 items only one item was in the package. But the delivery report read that both items were in that said package. I called got intouch with a CSR and they said the replacement is on its way I won't buy again from them my 1st impression was not a good one.
Answer: Hey, I would be very careful. I have transacted with Overstock three times and I don't believe there is as much security in terms of guarantee as with Amazon. And, if you buy items fulfilled by Amazon (meaning the product ships from Amazon's warehouse) you are even more guaranteed. For example, I bought some dinner napkins from an Amazon seller, fulfilled by Amazon. They were not what they were supposed to be and Amazon issued me a credit immediately and scheduled UPS to pick up my item to return. I'm very confident that with Amazon you will get quality service and if the product is not as described or substandard you will be in better hands especially with Amazon fulfilled items. Overstock is just not up to par and I wouldn't purchase something like a medicated cream from Overstock until they get it together.
Answer: I used a credit card on Overstock when purchasing my bed. It was years ago, I still sleep on it. I had no problems using my credit card on Overstock
Answer: They send it back to Overstock, call or Email them for a refund
