I compare a lot of prices from Amazon to eBay etc. I find that overstock.com to be overprice.com I think they should change their name to overprice.com.

Placed an order I needed for a client and paid for expedited shipping. It became clear from the tracking number and status They didn't send it expedited. While they agreed to refund the extra shipping charges IF and only AFTER the item didn't arrive on time (as in call back and let us know and you will get your refund). They refused to overnight the item to ensure their obligation was honored although there was time for that. Web "helper" was rude and sarcastic not to mention unhelpful. Will take my thousands elsewhere.
Order never arrived, and always got the same answer " It will come tomorrow". Finally just cancel and got next day from another site. The worst customer service, don't know how they stay in business. Stay away.
I decided to return an expensive handbag because when it arrived I did not like the color. I went on my account for return instructions and my handbag came up "unreturnable". I know I would not have ordered the bag if I was unable to return it. So, I went back on the site and found that on the Product Detail Page, (which is the order page, i. E. "add to cart" page) there is a NOTE (yes, bold letters) at the bottom of the page which states: "Bag may NOT be returned if red security tag is removed". This statement seems clear enough that if you want to return the bag, it's fine as long as you leave on the security tag. I live chatted with customer care, she asked a bunch of questions and finally said someone would contact me in 1-2 business days.
I then went online and read many, many reviews. There was not one positive review from anyone who tried to return an item. Seems that even when they grant you permission to return an item, the return label is expensive and credit to your card can take a very long time, and there has also be reviews when the customers ended up with no product and no refund.
I have decided to keep the bag and just not order from them anymore. The fact that the product detail page indicates your item is returnable and the returns page says your item is nonreturnable suggests to me that this company is dishonest in their practices. I should have checked reviews before I purchased.
If you are looking for a bed that will last you more than 6 months, this is not it. I bought the bed in November 2013 and the slats have already came apart twice, once during the middle of the night and causing my mattress to miserably collapse, almost giving me a heart attack. I e-mailed Customer Service about it and, in a nutshell, they ACKNOWLEDGED that the bed slats had always been an issue [so why sell the bed then?] and gave me a $40 credit, noting that she was being "more generous" than she should have been. Seriously? You are saying that your product is not even covered from the standard 1 year warranty? I bought so much furniture from Overstock, but after this level of Customer Service, offensive and unhelpful, they can definitely forget about me recommending the website or spreading a good work. The stupidity of some people baffles me: you are willing to compromise your clientele for lousy $400?

I'm writing today in response to your recent contact about the problems you have had with the Sophie Grey Queen Platform Bed. It is my pleasure to assist you today.
I have looked over the history of this bed and found that the slats that ship with this bed have been a problem. The manufacturer still ships them, so I don't want to offer a replacement. What I would like to suggest, is going to your local hardware store and taking the measurements of the inside of the bed and perhaps having a nice board cut to cover the entire bottom for your box spring and mattress to rest on.
Or you might have slats cut that are a little longer and much more durable, obviously these must be falling a bit too short. What I have done is issue you a credit in the amount of $40 back to your method of payment. It was a Visa credit card that ends in 9128 and expires on 7/2015. Since you have had this bed since November, it isn't really covered, so this was being more generous that I should have been. But under the circumstances, I understood your misfortune and hope we can rectify it this way.
Please let me know if there is anything else I can do for you with this or any other issue. Visit us again soon for great savings on our name-brand products.

I have been an online purchaser for a long time and I stick with my regular and reliable stores, rarely do I buy from Overstock.com but on this occasion there was this bed I wanted. Well the large bed headboard was sent in packaging only fit for a pillow, so inevitably the package was very damaged, a whole corner broken off and two large cracks in the top. Terrible, but it happens and that's why there is returns assistance... or so I thought.
First my returns submission vanished, then customer service insisted that I return the 3 heavy boxes to a UPS store by myself (already helped the UPS driver bring them in as he came on his own and they were too heavy), then they told me I wouldn't be refunded for up to 2 weeks, then they told me I would expect a home pickup one day in the next 2-10 days which suggests I stay home every day... this was disgraceful and everyone else who goes through this must stand up to them. Finally they agreed to refund the money in 1-2 days and an inspector might be out within 10 days to view the damaged item, I got this in writing from 2 online chat agents... needless to say they lied and I have no money and just a broken bed... the fight continues, do NOT buy from OVERSTOCK.
So refund promised today, didn't arrive today... so guess what, back on to customer service and again they extended their time frame and guess what... it''ll be in my account tomorrow... again! So I asked them where I get my lawyer to contact and she just ignored the question, I repeated it time and time again but she ignored it... so finally I gave up and said I guess I'll have to find out where my lawyer contacts by myself... still no refund.
I don't want a smashed up bed, I want them to take the bed back and refund my money... guess what, they just ignore everything I say or ask... Overstock has turned into a scam!
I ordered a comforter set and received it within a week. I found it to be reasonably priced and I'm happy with the quality of it.
I never ordered from this website, but I can tell from a simple Google search that they are both overpricing AND offering items that don't even exist.
I google for the Fangbook EVO HFX-500, It doesn't show up in Google or the CyberpowerPC website where it is supposed to be from. Another laptop I googled showed that they were charging an extra $200 than for it to be from the actually website.
Total scam, do not order.
Absolute garbage. My pregnant wife and I ordered a Majesty area rug light brown/beige but what we received was an Antiquity rug Brown/beige which was not even beige but a kinda of blue/green. We called overstock who arranged a pickup of the old rug and sent out a new rug. Keep in mind I have had to move pieces of heavy furniture every time I get a rug. So today arrived our new rug, and yet again it was not the Majesty rug but another antiquity rug beige brown, that was in fact beige and brown but wasn't the rug that we ordered. So now they want us to repeat the same process all over again to send it back to hopefully receive the correct rug. This has been a process over the past 3 weeks and I am getting to the end of my rope. How an order can clearly show one rug and I receive 2 rugs that are totally different I have no idea. Incompetence atss finest
I would never recommend Overstock. I have that the worst experience with the company. I was sent the wrong product to start with. I told them to cancel the entire order and they still resent the ottoman. So I had to carry this large ottoman to the UPS store to return it. Then I had to contact customer service about my online credit. They said that the brown vintage ottoman was returned and that they would have someone contact me in two days about my credit. No one ever contacted me. I had to contact the company again and they said that they never received the brown ottoman and now I have to go back to UPS and do research about where the ottoman is now. They said that they could not help me unless I had a tracking number. I used the label that they emailed me for the return but now they say that their system says that I am not using the right return label... Just a mess. I purchase everything offline from household items to clothing. I would never recommend this company to anyone that I liked. Do not use this company unless you want to run all over town, do a bunch of returns and deal with the headache.
No problems whatsoever. Ordered at great prices, shipped no problems, and items were always as advertised.
As a Canadian customer, my only complaint is that the custom's costs just kill us, *LOL, but worth it with what you save in the end. Wish they had a Canadian version of this site!
Repeatedly sent the wrong item. Exchanging for the correct item is a time consuming ordeal.
They didn't send me an email conformation or a shipping notification. I'm not very happy with the product I received. It's just a dog treat canister, so I guess I'll just keep it. I noticed the refund policy says they only give a partial refund for opened items. I doubt I'll be shopping here again.
Shopping around for an item, and found it on overstock. Read the description, the color said brown. I placed the order and found out, by chance, that the color was actually white. Exactly want I did not want. I requested, in less than one business day, that my order be cancelled. Its been over a week. After repeated attempts to cancel via phone calls, emails and online chats, nobody was able to cancel the order. In fact nobody from overstock could tell me anything definite for 4 or 5 days, and then it was, "Sorry, your item has shipped." Overstock can take your order and charge your credit in the blink of an eye, but getting your money back is a long, drawn-out and needlessly frustrating process, and after a week they still have my $1,000+. AVOID OVERSTOCK AT ALL COSTS!
First time purchaser. Item arrived with minor damage. Called overstock to see about replacement. Started reading reviews and how difficult it is to get refund and replacement (which I should have done before ordering) but now considering keeping item and never again ordering from a company with such a bad reputation.

I ordered a grey linen chair and found it in my driveway. I lugged it up stairs, opened the box and discovered that it was beige in color. I called customer service and they said they would ship a replacement right away. I waited another 10 days and low and behold, there was another beige chair sitting in my driveway. I called customer service and was told they would would not ship the correct chair to me until they received the beige chair back? So I was going to cancel the order but the customer service guy said that if I wanted to choose a different higher priced chair, he would give it to me for the same price as the other chair. Well who doesn't love a bargain right? Turns out that after waiting another ten days, the chair is stuck in North Carolina and due to adverse weather conditions, no telling when it will be delivered. Also, ten days later, I have still not received an account credit for the chair I returned. I contacted customer service to ask when I would receive my 350.00 credit, and they informed me that it could take 3-5 business days from the date the warehouse receives the merchandise, however the credit would be minus the 10% discount applied when I purchased it. Really? After everything that has happened in this deal, Overstock wants to make sure I do not get the 10% discount? So here I am, out $700.00 and no chair to sit on. Customer service continues to send email updates that state how sorry they are for any inconvenience this MAY have caused me, but they do nothing to correct their mistakes. I have never had this bad of buying experience anywhere else.
Just like anything you buy online or at a physical store, do your research first. Cheap furniture is cheap furniture whether you buy it at Walmart or at Overstock.com.
I've found some great items at Overstock and had good results with customer service. I purchased bedroom furniture after reading reviews on other sites about the brand. I continue to enjoy the furniture 10 years later. The Worldstock items are unique. I've purchased some lovely costume jewelry, never had an issue.
I still dont understand how this new site like many of the new auction sites can help your pocket$ my girl freind ordered bids on a item for the house hold kitchen. It was confirmed they sent another item saying the item that was shown is not on stock or carried any more. So this item was to do the same thing. Another brand. And for use in the bathroom WHAT? She cant get her money back as they claim it was the correct item. And be more carefull. Custmer services is a joke and scam--
Answer: Hey, I would be very careful. I have transacted with Overstock three times and I don't believe there is as much security in terms of guarantee as with Amazon. And, if you buy items fulfilled by Amazon (meaning the product ships from Amazon's warehouse) you are even more guaranteed. For example, I bought some dinner napkins from an Amazon seller, fulfilled by Amazon. They were not what they were supposed to be and Amazon issued me a credit immediately and scheduled UPS to pick up my item to return. I'm very confident that with Amazon you will get quality service and if the product is not as described or substandard you will be in better hands especially with Amazon fulfilled items. Overstock is just not up to par and I wouldn't purchase something like a medicated cream from Overstock until they get it together.
Answer: I used a credit card on Overstock when purchasing my bed. It was years ago, I still sleep on it. I had no problems using my credit card on Overstock
