I booked a return flight Amsterdam–Alicante for 5 people via Opodo, choosing the most expensive flexible tickets and even signing up for Opodo Prime. What they don't tell you is that all changes or cancellations apply to all passengers together and only ONE change/cancellation is possible. These crucial details are buried deep in the fine print. Furthermore, after making the one change, Opodo unilaterally changed our flight on the new day from 12:00 to 17:20 and after weeks of waiting for this "internal Call Request" claimed I had "approved it over the phone" — which is false. When I asked for proof of this call, they said it I would have to submit this Call request on their site and it would take 6–8 weeks for me to receive, long after the flight! I still have not received it, 2 months after this, again empty, promise. Customer service is more than appalling: endless hold times, agents barely speak English or Dutch, and all they say is "company policy." I lost money, lot's of energy, and half a day of my trip. Advice: Always book directly with the airline — Opodo is a scam and the so-called flexibility is pure illusion.
I've had multiple terrible experiences with Opodo and especially with Opodo Prime. The "benefits" they advertise felt like false promises in my case.
1. Best Price Guarantee: I was entitled to a refund but had to spend hours on phone calls and email chains to get it. It was extremely stressful, and it genuinely felt like they tried everything possible not to pay what I was owed—though they eventually did.
2. Prime Cancellation "Guarantee": They advertised guaranteed cancellation of two flights with an 80% refund, but when I tried to use it, they refused and instead charged me a large amount for a flight change.
3. Passenger Name Change: I paid £23 for a name change and later discovered they never even contacted the airline. More wasted time and now I'm chasing a refund.
4. Customer Service: Repeatedly poor. Long waits, no updates on ongoing requests (so I always had to follow up with them), inconsistent answers depending on who you speak to, and multiple instances where it felt like they were trying to avoid providing the services they promise to Prime customers.
This whole experience has wasted so much of my time and caused needless stress. Based on my experiences, I strongly recommend avoiding Opodo.
I used opodo in 2024 to book flights. I did not realise I had signed up to an annual £90 fee until I saw an email reminder this year (2026). I filled in their online form two weeks ago (early Feb 2026) to claim back the fee for 2025 as I hadn't used their service - but have had no reply. Be warned! They bombard you with advertising emails so it's easy to miss the renewal email.
Plus, our flights in 2024 were delayed and opodo passed on our details to 'Air help'. This sounds benign but actually is a scam as they take 33% of refund claims! It's very easy to claim a refund from the airline directly.
In short, I found opodo unhelpful and disingenuous. If you use to book cheaper flights then cancel any subscription immediately afterwards. They're not out to help you but just want to help themselves to your money!
I booked a flight through Opodo. During the booking process, Opodo's baggage allowance screen clearly stated:
Personal item — Included
Cabin bag — Included
Checked bag — Not included
After the booking was completed, the cabin bag was not included in the issued reservation.
I contacted Opodo and supplied screenshots. I later also provided an uninterrupted screen recording reproducing the same problem: it shows the selected flight, the baggage screen stating that both a personal item and cabin bag are included, and then continues through the booking process to the final payment page.
Instead of properly investigating the issue, Opodo repeatedly sent generic template responses.
They even advised me to check the booking confirmation to see whether the baggage was included — despite the difference between the information shown before payment and the final confirmation being the entire subject of my complaint.
They then demanded a timestamped screenshot of the final payment page from the original booking. No ordinary customer would think to take screenshots of every checkout step before discovering that the final reservation contradicts what was displayed during purchase.
Their responses repeatedly ignored the evidence and suggested that I may simply have selected a different fare, while failing to explain why their own booking interface continues to display the cabin bag as "Included".
This handling appears designed to exhaust the customer rather than investigate a documented problem. I am escalating the full correspondence, screenshots and recording to the relevant European and Spanish consumer authorities.
My advice is not to rely on baggage information displayed by Opodo.
Record the entire checkout process, carefully compare the final airline confirmation, and book directly with the airline whenever possible.
They behave like a true scam, selling services that do not exist!
Just received notification from tesco credit card that opodo prime had charged me £99.99 for a travel membership that I did not want. I called the Indian call center and they told me that they could not cancel or offer a refund. The payment was pending on my credit card. They offered a 50% discount. I said that a refund was all I wanted as I had no plan to travel. I called tesco credit card and they have blocked further payment being made to opodo. I have asked they tesco bank team to request a refund. Do not use opodo as you cannot cancel. Really poor. Nothing more than thieves. I will update if I get a solution as an update Tesco credit card got me a full refund. So this is the route you must take if you want your money back
Unfortunately, while searching holidays, I ended up with Prime Membership by OPODO. They took money from my account which was big shock!
Cancellation request NOT accepted, Keep charging from my Account. There is NO WAY you can disable or STOP payment going out of your bank account. On their website, there is no any option to cancel. Keep ringing them. Automated Tape makes you feel frustrated.
Government should be strict with such misleading company to operate.
This is really the worst of travel agencies. I paid 3500 pounds for a ticket and had to make a change, because of an unforseen medical circumstance. In the app I requested the change, and was told I could make the change for 170 pounds. Very reasonable, I accepted it. Then I got an email saying actually it would be 2,000 pounds. The followed a long four days, with seven long distance calls, over and over again without being able to even accept or pay the aburd price. I would call go over what I wanted ( again and again) and I was told over and over, someone would call me back. Once someone did and they sent me a payment link. I tried three, three! Different debit and credit cards, and none would be accepted. My ¨review" "collapsed", so once again I asked for the change. This time it came back, that I would have to pay 3200 pounds. It seems to me that this is very much a scam. There was no intention of reserving until they managed to push the price to the Moon. Terrible experience. Probably the worst ever
It's the biggest scam ever. They didn't refund the money for the best price guarantee. Didn't call us, but said they call us. Then they just added a new flight without baggage and told us that we never added it. Even after we send them the proof. Then we wanted to change the flight with flex prime. Amount to pay was 0 (in the app and online) they called us and told us that we have to pay 1000.-, then 700.- and then 390.- (for the exact same flight). Which was all much more then compared to the other airlines
Opodo is the worst travel-related customer service-related experience I've ever had. This is the kind of company which takes advantage of customer's unawerness. Customer service is a parody of customer service - they are unreachable, and at the end they only copy-paste identical answers without referring to customer's request.
OPODO PRIME SCAM ALERT
Don't be fooled by the "Best Price Guarantee"! I am a Prime member and I found a cheaper public price on Agoda. Even though I sent screenshots within 24h, Opodo keeps inventing excuses to avoid paying.
First they lied about the 24h deadline, then they lied about the discount being "private" (it's a public AGODASALE available to everyone). Now they've closed their Twitter support and left Resolver just to hide from complaints.
If you don't honor your T&C and refund the 2x difference, I will continue to warn every customer on this page. Shameful business practices! #Opodo #Scam #PrimeMember #TravelScam
They failed to mention that the price contains no baggage. Adding a baggage later is a change which is possible only by phone and costs 20 Pounds. Free canceling within 14 hours is advertised during booking but it seems to be impossible to activate.

Got charged £750 to amend my booking, almost half of which was opooooodo rip off fee for taking advantage of my disability and having to have another operation! Customer service put me on hold for 1 1/2 hours in total! Customer service don't speak or understand English well at all and all in all make it a very disappointing experience and would never use or recommend them!

Don't book with these guys ever. Their website sells products that don't exist. I bought 2 tickets for adults over 12 for my 14 year old kids, but when my kids went to the airport they were refused entry to the flight as they were under 16. After requesting my money back I was told that I should have read the fine print. Why did their website sell me the tickets. Do they not know what they are selling? That must be illegal! From my dealings with them I can say with certainty that they are scum of the earth. It was impossible to get my 700 pounds back as the umburdesman does not cover agencies! STAY AWAY - Book directly with the company. Don't use middlemen like OPODO!

Although Opodo is supposed to be famous and trustworthy company, in fact, it is not! Already for over 3 months I am waiting for my promised refund!
As my flight (Ref: *******248 [**************]) has been cancelled 2 weeks before the due date, Opodo has contacted me and asked whether I would like to get a refund or would prefer to get another ticket. On 12 October 2017, I have replied that I would prefer to get the refund (please note, not even the full refund!). Opodo Customer Service has informed me that the money should appear in my account within the next 30-90 days. After the 42nd day since my requested refund past, I have sent a mail to Opodo Customer Service to get an update about the status of my requested refund. Of course, nobody has contacted me from the Customer Service of Opodo and I did not get any information about my inquiry. As 90 days since my request have passed, I have tried to contact Customer Service again. All what I got as a reply was that my inquiry is being processed and the money will be returned within the next 3 months.
It is already clear to me that Opodo is not going to return the money, therefore I would like to share my experience and warn others to never use Opodo if you do not wish to loose your money!

Hello Lyalya,
Thank you for contacting us.
We will have an agent contact you by email to follow this up for you.
I booked a multi-jaw trip with Opodo on Monday 15th January, for travel the following week, and received a confirmation email. On Friday 19th January, I received an email from Opodo telling me that they hadn't been able to complete the booking. When I went to rebook, the prices had gone up considerably, and my new flights ended up costing about 50% more (an increase of almost £500) By delaying for 4 working days to tell me that the booking was unsuccessful, it meant that the cost of rebooking was considerably more. I don't know why it took so long to tell me, nor have Opodo told me why they cancelled my booking. As a consequence of their ineptitude, I am now £500 out of pocket. I will never use Opodo again, and suggest you do likewise.

Hi Nick,

I booked tickets to India for myself and my partner. Unfortunately we were unable to go due to me breaking my ankle, so we decided to change our tickets and fly to Vietnam 4 months later. The first operator I spoke to said we needed to pay £100 per ticket for an Emirates charge for changing a booking and £25 Opodo charge, which we were fine with as this is something that had been discussed on a call with Emirates. The difference in price between our India ticket and Vietnam ticket was £16 and the operator then told us we needed to pay £546! It doesn't take a genius to work out that that doesn't add up, so I asked him to give me a breakdown, which he wouldn't do and just kept saying something about 'fare price'. I asked what this was an he just kept repeating '£546' and just kept telling me, 'that's what my computer says'. He then placed me on hold and the phone went dead! I called back to another operator and he confirmed that the previous operator had taken the £546 from my card, without authorisation! I was fuming as you can imagine. The operator said, 'we will refund you £33'. I haven't got a clue what he was on about and he proceeded to inform me that the previous operator had overcharged me. Even so, refunding £33 still meant that I was paying way too much for my new tickets. Both the first and second operators could not explain to me where they were conjuring up their amounts from and the first operator kept huffing and asking why I was confused! I then spoke to a third operator. This operator was more helpful and explained vaguely that I was being charged £100 from Emirates, £25 from Opodo and a fare price of £146.66 PER TICKET! I still don't fully know what this means and decided in the end not to change my flight as it was going to cost a stupid amount of money and I wasn't sure that they would even rebook my ticket correctly. READ REVIEWS BEFORE BOOKING AND GO WITH A TRUSTED COMPANY!

Hi Yasmin,
Can you please update your profile with your booking reference number so we can have an agent contact you privately regarding your concerns.
We have booked a flight with opodo *******256 booking reference) initially on the 14/12/2017 from manchester to Mauritius and returning 02/01/18. We had some problems thus we end up changing this flight. We are very disappointed from Opodo as 2-3 days before we fly we contacted Opodo and ask the cost. The advisor told us it was 25£ per passenger and an additional 125£ (per passenger) as fee from the airline, then it was only the price difference on the day we needed to change. Additionally he told us we only need to pay that for one change. I was insisting to elaborate and he told us that we only pay that 150£ total per passenger regardless if we change only the outgoing or both returning flight. We asked when can we take our decision and the employee said whenever you want before the flight. We had to call later only to find out that the deadline was 6h before the flight and not anytime! So while on the phone with the advisor he was giving us some extortion prices! We checked their website and the website of the airline for the particular flights and we were amazing for how cheaply comparing to the price the advisor was giving us that was. We were arguing for a while and the advisor told us that it was the airline. So we called the airline only to find out that the advisor was out of his depth. The airline only charge the price difference and having already payed 2400£ for our flights and asked to pay an extra 2600£ is an extortion. The flights on that day were only costing around 2500£ on both websites and the difference is 100£. I wasn't bothered to pay that 25£ per person but not full 5000£ plus fees. We then end up asking the advisor to check some dates on July. We were quoted 250£ extra only to find out 3 minutes later that it was 1800£ extra. Thats a bit of a difference right? And magically after fighting with the advisor she said it was 850£! Well thats 1000£ cheeper after a long time on the phone... My complaint didn't stop there! After giving her the extra money. Which was already overpriced as payed 2400£ and the flight cost 1200£ on the dates. She messed up the dates. She booked the wrong dates. So i had to call opodo again and wait in the phone only to be told we don't know if it was ours or your mistake. Really opodo? And i was told that we need to wait for couple of days to review the phone call. When i asked the guy ok but what if the price of the flight goes up by then and then you ask us for money? The advisor told me i dont know! I offered then to pay the 27£ extra and the advisor told me that i was going to be contacted the next day (after the tape is reviewed) so i can either have the refund if it was my fault. It was such a surprise when they didnt call me. So i phone back only to be told that they haven't review the tape yet and they were going to call me the following day. What a surprise. They didn't. So i called back again and they said that they are going to issue a refund of the 27£ as it was opodos fault! The next week a guy from opodo called me to tell me the same thing again which makes me believe that there is no communication between departments! Really after reading all comments in online i am not surprise. I got in contact with opodo and they told me that the system to choose the flights called Amadeus and they dont even book flights themselves, this system does it for them. I have to say that not only they made booking with them reduculudly complicated, they dont know whats happening in their own systems. Never booking with them again. Please avoid

Very bad customer service and support, I booked a ticket and then asked to change the dates in which I was informed to pay 171 EGP difference between the 2 tickets but after that I was deducted 171 GBP instead while the original flight was 195 GBP, so I should pay the double for a transit flight? When I asked to change that they were unhelpful and then I canceled it to be deducted an amount of 75 GBP instead of 50 which is very high as I did this change.

Hi Reham,

I wish I'd read some of these other reviews before booking with Opodo, but truth be told, I didn't even know it was Opodo as it went through "eDreams" via Skyscanner. The service is atrocious - I suspect run by sub-standard robots rather than human beings. I found my flight on Skyscanner and was taken through to eDreams to book. I checked the details, confirmed dates and times of flights were correct and continued to payment. When it went through, an itinerary came back that had my travel partner and I on a departing flight that was at a totally different time to the one I had selected on both skyscanner and again on the eDreams site. Within minutes, I had called the call centre to report the issue and ask them to change me to correct flight. They told me that I should contact the airline and make the change directly with them as they couldn't help and then call them back. So that's what I did. Virgin Australia was amazing and immediately made the change waiving the usual change fee because of the circumstances, but charging me a "fare difference" which seemed fair. I called eDreams back and advised them the change had been made and asked that they reimburse me the fee I had paid given it was a system error on their company's part. They told me that I would need to provide them screen shots that I had selected the flight I was asserting I had because otherwise there was no proof that I hadn't just changed my mind. I told the lady I wasn't in the habit of screenshotting my online purchases step-by-step but that my windows were still open, so I would see what I could do. Luckily the original skyscanner page and the eDreams page were both still open on my desktop as new windows opened with each redirection. I was able to screenshot each of them and forward them to the email address they had provided. I thought that given the proof I had, it would simply be a matter of them refunding me as I had, despite all odds, managed to provide them exactly what I asked for. Instead, I received a form letter that didn't even bother to address me by name, asserting that they had checked the booking in their systems and it was consistent with my itinerary. I wrote back and assured them it was not consistent and that I had provided them proof accordingly. I received another form email advising me to contact the call centre to resolve. Cheekily, they did not provide the AU toll free number for me to call, but rather one that charges 7 cents a minute. I called the toll free number from the website and the first person I got through to hung up on my after asking for my reservation number and then asking me to hold while he studied the notes. My guess is that he decided he didn't want to deal with the complaint. Not to be deterred I called back again and after getting through to another operator was told that the evidence I had provide was "not valid". I asked why it was invalid and she couldn't tell me. I asked her to escalate my case to a manager or someone who could explain why it was invalid and I was told that there were "no managers available". I am absolutely gobsmacked at how terrible this experience has been. Can honestly say that of the hundreds of online booking and purchases I have made over the years, I have never experiences such terrible customer service. AVOID AT ALL COSTS.

Hi Andrea,

I have booked a round trip flight from Vancouver to Cairo from opodo website. I have made a call directly after my reservation (during my free cancel period) to inquire about this flight refund policy. They told me that if I cancel my ticked I would be refunded my money (1070 GBP) after paying (125CAD + 25GBP) cancellation fees and I have continued my booking based on that. I have performed the cancellation later but I was refunded only 112 GBP while I was expecting to be refunded ~ 950 GBP. When I contacted the customer service they said the agent in the cancellation call informed me that 110 GBP will be refunded and I approved. When I explained for them that there was misunderstanding as the amount was equivalent to the fees I have been informed about earlier they refused my request of verifying the first call and they don't think they don't need to give explanation.

Forced to cancel return flights from Antigua to Tortola and back due to Hurricane Irma, I continue to suffer the worst ever experience of this kind at the hands of Opodo - over two months later! Despite numerous phone calls(often being cut-off) and e-mails, having to repeatedly re-explain the full details of my booking and cancellation reason etc, I seem to be no nearer receiving the promised refund. The call-centre staff are the most unhelpful, incompetent, inefficient, un-caring individuals that I have ever encountered in my many years or world travel. After eventually posting a negative review on Trust Pilot, I was immediately contacted by their 'Customer Service' department (!), which has turned out to be something of a misnomer in this case! Needless to say, the promised refund has still not materialised, despite their apparently best endeavours. As Opodo is registered in the UK, I am beginning to think this will end up in the Small Claims Court. My patience has long been exhausted and my sanity is at risk. This was my first experience of dealing with Opodo and it will definitely be my last. Deal with them at your peril.

I will never use Opodo again. My experience over the past few weeks has been awful. I needed to change an earlier flight to make a connecting flight. I made numerous calls to Opodo, was kept waiting on hold for ages, passed from department to department and was cut off several times. In spite of assurances from Opodo that they would would deal with the issue and get back to me they did nothing. In the end I had to contact the airline myself to change the flight.

I bought my ticket to Brazil well in advance. Tried to change a connection flight as I realized the time was tight to go from Sao paolo conconhas to sao paolo international and get my flight back to Europe, was asked 500 euros for a simple connection flight change which I refused to pay. By coincidence and this is quite strange some weeks thereafter I was informed by Alitalia that one of my connection flight the one I wanted to change was cancelled. I called opodo to find out what could be done, they told me they would get back to me within 1 day, waited nothing happened, called them again no updates, they told me to wait up to 72 hours, I called them again to find out that I had no other alternatives, without giving me any explanation to why my flight was cancelled. They told me to cancel my ticket and that I am entitled for a full refund. Ticket cost is over 1200 pounds. I asked him for an estimate of time to get my money back and he told me he might take up top 3 months which I find ridiculous. Don't waste your time and money avoid them.

Useless. Never to be used again. Booked 5 flights on a Sunday night via Opodo only to get an email saying 'processing booking'. Checked online 24 hours later and was messaged 'we are processing booking, will be resolved within the day'. Rang the next day to find out the status and told they needed to take payment again - but after 29 minutes on the phone was told that the booking had not gone through and the the flights were no longer available! Hi Lauren.
We are sorry to have read about your customer experience. We have sent you a private message if you could please check your inbox.
It was the morning of 14th December and everything was set. My wife and I had planned for our trip to New Zealand for over a year. The moment was finally upon us. Christchurch to Auckland, 3 weeks in our self-contained campervan, nature, lakes, glaciers, caves - you name it and our itinerary had it. This was going to be perfect. We had used all the tips and recommendations from friends and Lonely Planet to build the trip of our lives - this was going to be epic. My father-in-law's passing away in November made it more 'medicinal' than 'recreational' - my wife and I needed this time together, away from civilization and everything else. But sadly Opodo and China Airlines did not let it happen!
Back to the morning of 14th December. With our tickets in our hands, we got to the check-in counter. Inspite of the long journey ahead (Frankfurt-Taipei-Christchurch) we were excited. "Can I please see your visas?" asked the lady at the China Airlines desk. I smiled back and opened our passports which carried the New Zealand visas and added "We also have the print-out for visas for Taipei, where our stop over is.". She quickly retorted, "Yes but what about your transit visa for Australia?". For a moment I did not register this - "what's wrong with her? What's she talking about?" I thought to myself. We were told that our flight had a 1 hour 20 minute re-fuelling stop in Sydney and being Indian passport holders, we needed a transit visa for it. Without the transit visa we were not allowed to fly. We tried to explain multiple times, showing our tickets, that Australia was NOT MENTIONED anywhere on the tickets. All the tickets said was, Frankfurt-Taipei-Christchurch and Auckland-Taipei-Frankfurt. Soon the main airline representative was called. She, in a hurried 'I don't really care about it' attitude said boarding won't be possible without a visa. She made no effort to help solve the problem at hand. We asked for help, for alternatives and for solutions - nothing seemed to work. Except for the lady from Frankfurt Airport ground staff who went out of her way to find information and help out, no one seemed to care. We saw our New Zealand dream crumble in front of us as our flight departed and stopped showing on the information monitor.
My wife and I were in a state of total disbelief. We called Opodo - the travel booking agent through which we booked our tickets. In total this was a 4 hour call made to their UK customer service center which refused to call us back instead. At first they tried to convince us that the airline staff at the check-in counter had made a mistake and no such stop-over in Australia reflected in Opodo's system. They confirmed that in case the airline had made a change to their schedule, it was possible that they had not informed Opodo and thus we were also not informed. I immediately asked for a written confirmation on the same, which was promptly sent to me. However a few hours later they confirmed that all China Airlines flights have a second stop over in Australia - but why did the booking confirmation from Opodo reflect only 1 stop in Taipei? Why did the same confirmation not mention Sydney or any other place in Australia? And whose fault was it anyway? And who would pay for all the monetary losses we made on our flights and bookings in NZ? We have no answers yet from either Opodo or China Airlines. Neither of them has stepped forward to solve this issue and help us get a fair resolution.

DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY - 1 MONTH ON AND STILL WAITING FOR SOMEONE TO SORT MY ISSUE
1) The phone number you have on your website and gave me is wrong, it does not work. 2) I have rang 4 times, emailed around 10 times to get an invoice. After being promised it many times, over four weeks later I still do not have it. 3) I booked a flight from Sydney to Cancun 6 months ago, today I have found out that I am not sat with the person I booked with. No supervisor present to speak to, the customer service person couldn't understand that seat 18e and 19e are not next to each other, they are in different rows! When I asked for the supervisor to call me this never happened. 4) If you ring the "UK" number - it isn't the UK you are calling, it is India - beware for when you get your phone bill after being on hold for half an hour and calling numerous times

Just booked a return flight to the Greek islands and found that as they were different airlines Thompson and Thomas Cook I have to pay for 20kg of baggage once to go out and once to come back it cost me over £30 per person going out, but didn't see the option for the return flight, then on the booking confirmation it says return flight zero allowance, so phoned Opedo to clarify if I had to pay for the return flight and was told it would be £55 per person plus and extra £10 pp to change it! £195 for three bags one way seemed extortionate, luckily as they couldn't book it, I went to the Thomas Cook website and booked it for £25 per person £75 vs £195 the difference I feel is bordering on criminal. I feel conned by opodo.

We booked a Ryan air flight with opodo INCLUDING bags. When we arrived at check-in the bags we paid for weren't registered. Ryan air said this happens all the time with Opodo (they keep the bag money). We had to re-pay for bags at customer service, the delay was massive, we were travelling with children and almost missed our flight.
I spent 1 hour on the phone with opodo sorting this out being charged by the minute, 10 days later they still haven't refunded the full amount to us.
The would NEVER RECOMMEND OPODO or travel with them again.

Answer:Guys, it would only cost you about £40 to take them to small claims court. Dont just take the loss, these people need to be held to account. Id also contact Rip Off Britain to get a programme made about their tactics
Answer:You can complain all you like but once they have your money they dont give a tinkers cuss. Best form of complaint is social media like this site and face book.
