I purchased three of the #******* wire caddy, The boxes contained bent and missing pieces, they offered to send a fourth one. With 4 boxes and some bending and drilling I was able to assemble three of them. They tried to blame UPS the shipper, I said no the boxes arrived perfectly it was the junk in the box that was the problem. Now they want me to go and purchase a box so I can again waste my time shipping this junk back to them. NEVER AGAIN WITH NORTHERN FOOL COMPANY>

Awful delivery

I ordered an aerator from Northern Tool that was supposed to arrive by Jun 6-9. It was delivered yesterday, July 13! Here's the best part, it was shipped on June 25. It took the trucking company YRC 2 and half weeks to deliver it. I called Northern Tool about 4 or 5 times. Customer service was very nice but incredibly ineffective. Didn't return a promised phone call once though. And lastly, I found the aerator on Amazon after the fact for $120.00 cheaper based on selling price and shipping cost. UGH! I won't ever buy from them again.

I ordered a piece of equipment that was supposed to drop-ship directly from the manufacturer. After waiting a week and my tracking # did not show up in the UPS tracking site, I called NT. Was told that the shipment was on hold in MN because they could not ship to a PO box. I do not now, nor have I ever had a PO box!

Even more important, was why after a week, was I never contacted about the issue?

NT said they had sent the correct address over to UPS, and I should be receiving it soon. I checked the tracking later that day, and saw that it had been delivered, to NT's dock, not mine!

I called NT and told them that it had been sent to their dock, and asked if they could get it sent back out to my address that day. The person I talked to said he would locate the package and get it forwarded to me. I told him that if he could not do so to just tell me, as I had another supplier that could have at my place by Monday. Needless to say, I checked the following morning, and was told that it was not sent out and that it would take several days to forward.

Finally after talking to a couple of people, they told me that they would get it shipped out that night, I got an Email that day saying the package had shipped and it gave me a tracking #. The following day, I checked the tracking #, and it said that a label had been printed, but the package had not arrived at UPS. I figured that for sure it would go out on that Friday evening.

Today, Monday, I tracked the #, and guess what? It still had not shipped! A full 4 days after they promised they they would forward it to me, they still have not shipped it to me! I now have to go to the other supplier to get the bridge saw, but it will not be the end of the week before I get it, if then. I had a job that required the bridge saw, I am losing money, not to mention the expedited shipping I am going to have to spend with the other shipper, because Northern Tool is incompetent, and completely lacking an any sort of customer service skills. And this does not even touch on how long it takes to actually talk to someone when you call.

They have lost a customer forever with me on this transaction.

From reading other reviews, shipping seems to be a big issue here. I've shopped at NT for years. I shopped for a planer/jointer combo unit and found a good deal here, with Free Shipping. Item arrived in a box truck in a timely manner. Driver asked if I wanted him to lower it with the power lift gate, so I said sure. I took the unit from there to my back yard, and signed for it. A month or so later, I received a bill for $190 for freight. A call revealed that because I said yes to the lift gate, they billed me. I could easily have pulled it off the back of the truck myself had I known better or was informed. I signed for delivery after I moved it from the truck! Of course I did not read the paper, because I thought I was just taking possession of it. Buyer beware! NT customer service refuses to help. They completely disassociated themselves from the situation, stating, "This option was not added to the delivery through us when the order was placed or prior to delivery.". In my opinion, this is completely unacceptable. They need to stand by the service they provide, even if it is through a third party that they contracted. I will NEVER order something to be shipped through them again.

I wanted to cancel my order (online) and saw these reviews first. Honestly, these reviews scared me! Anyway, I called them and was on hold for about 2 minutes and was helped by Jordan. My order was 10 days old and said that they most likely can't cancel because it's too far into the process. But, she'd physically contact the shipping department and see what she could do and then email me back. I said okay, never thinking she'd actually email me back. Well, 2 hours later I received an email from her saying that she was able to get my order cancelled.

Jordan was very helpful and genuinely concerned. The shipping (to the store) does take forever and I chose that because of coupon. But I need my item now, which is the reason for the cancellation. Two thumbs up for NT!

Well, they respond super fast for me. I email them, and the next day, if not the same day, I get a reply.

The problem I have right now, is that I ordered two things. A $99 pipe bender and a $129 pneumatic planishing hammer.

The first, was supposed to ship in the middle of this month. The other says 28 days at longest.

Well, the first still has not shipped. I emailed them. They did respond, but they said they have yet to get them in. That is an answer and I am cool with that. But, I wish they had given me an idea of why and how long it should take to get them in.

I do this stuff as a hobby. I have no clue hot to use the second thing I ordered. Haha So, it really does not matter when I get it. I just like having an idea.

After 8 days and order had not been shipped I contacted Northern. They said would find out issue and get back - they didn't. Called 4 times with long wait times. When you do get someone they just don't care. Do not do business with this company.

I ordered about $1700. 00 worth of goods from Northern Tool on June 1st. On June 12th I called to check on my order only to wait for 10 minutes for no one to answer. On June 13th I sent an email requesting an update on my order, no response. Also on June 13th I received my credit card bill for the products I ordered. On June 14th I called the customer service department one more time. I waited on the phone for 30 minutes before I was able to speak to anyone. They told me it would be 8 to 12 business days before I would receive the order. They could not tell me what the tracking situation was on my order. They would only tell the 8 to 12 business days. I have owned two business's, and if I had some one running my business this way and treating my customers like this their $#*! would be down the road. My customers are my top priority in my business, and it makes a huge difference. I will probably never order any thing from this $#*!ty company again. This isn't the first problem I have had with them. One other time they had an item listed as being a certain size that I needed. I decided to order two of them, and when I received them they were not what they had advertised. If you want to order an item from this company and don't care when you receive it this is the company you want to deal with.

Reps don't have any ability to help you after you sit on hold for over 30 minutes (did that 4 separate times!) only for the rep to say a different department had to handle my concern and put me back on hold for another 30 minutes... then a supervisor was needed but couldn't actually talk to me, only told the rep what to say. They messed the export documents when sending my order internationally (USA to Canada) and we received phone calls from the border because they could not reach Northern Tool to get the export documents, to show we had already paid tax! As an office manager, this company wasted WAY TOO MUCH OF MY VALUABLE TIME! Unacceptable.

Shipping is a joke

Bought a product and a week later still no update to shipping or anything. So when I call they tell me it hasnt shipped yet and that it takes 4-6 business days, so i should give it another week. After going back and forth about how the 4-6 days are up after the weekend I wont be home for a week. They explain how they can cancel the order but theres no guarantees on if it will stop the shipping process. Once they get your money all bets are off if you get what you actually paid for.

I purchased a hitch carrier with credit card, online and twice I had to call them because they emailed me saying the address was wrong. Very odd because I usually order from Amazon (almost weekly) and have never had this problem. Both service members were awful and couldn't help solve the problem, so I had to stick with old faithful... Amazon. This is why so many are saying no thanks local and YES please to Amazon.

Slow service

I purchases a mower (Honda Self Propelled Mower - 160cc) (*******) on 4/19/2017 online and to be shipped to a near by store vs my home to avoid shipping charges.On 4/24/17 I had not received any shipping notifications so I emailed customer no service inquiring about the status. The following day, 4/25/2017 I received a B. S. reply to my inquiring, "My records indicate your order is preparing to ship from our warehouse and should arrive to the store before 05/06. The store will contact you when it is available for pickup. I apologize for any inconvenience you have experienced".

I can not believe in the day an age we live with the speed of most companies logistic and distribution solutions, it would take two and half weeks to full fill an order. I purchase almost everything online from multiple companies online. Never have I experienced this slow of service.

I had the opportunity to purchase the exact same mower from Home Depot, ironically, closer to my home too, but for some reason, I went with Northern... ugh. Grass continues to grow and grow.

I am in a new home and left my rider with my last home as the new place has a much smaller yard. The time and money I thought I was saving buying this online, is costing me as I have to hire a lawn care company at $50 a mow to keep the grass cut for two more weeks for 4 service calls.

I wish customer no service would have offered to at least let me stop at the local store and get the exact same mower off the shelf. Northern had an opportunity to make a happy customer.

This post is by no means a slam on the Honda mower. Never owned one, but all the reviews on the mower are all thumbs up. So good luck to me when it does finally show up.

My advice, get the product in the store and stay away from the online // save the frustration. 10 more days of wondering ahead for me.

Bought a drag, used it once... it is their product line. It has a one year warranty and they said because I used it they would not cover it... it was user error. What? I used it for several hours and was turning the same corner I had turned for the previous 2 hours and it broke... the metal where it attaches to the drag.

VERY RUDE... THEY HAVE CHANGED SHIPPING METHODS AND NO LONGER WILL TELL YOU ABOUT THE STAUS OF ITEMS WHEN USING THE FREE SHIP TO STORE METHOD. ORDER FROM CHINA YOU GET IT DELIVERED TO YOU QUICKER COMPARED TO NORTHERN TOOL AND ALSO HAVE TRACKING INFORMATION AVAILABLE THROUGH THE CHINA SHIPPING TRACKING SYSTEM. THEY USE CHINA PRODUCTS ANYWAYS WITH THE NORTHERN TOOL LOGO ON THERE ITEMS.
I BELIEVE THEY CHARGE YOU METHOD OF PAYMENY REFUSE TO ISSUE A REFUND WHEN THE ITEM HAS NOT SHIPPED AND CANNOT BE CONFIRMED TO BE SHIPPE TO THE STORE. AND THEY ROLL THE MONEY OVER TO MAKE MONEY BEFORE THE ISSUE A REFUND... VERY VERY VERY DECEITFUL

I bought a spare tire for my trailer from northern tool. After the 45 mile trip home, I realized it was the wrong lug pattern. I called northern and spoke with management, explaining the situation. They said no problem, come up and exchange it... 45 miles/minutes later the manager didn't recall the conversation AND WOULDN'T ALLOW THE RETURN

Poor customer service

I received 2 Quantum industrial units on 3/7/17 and the vertical posts had holes that did not line up with shelves to use bolts as per included instructions and clips too loose to secure shelves. I called and spoke to John at Customer Service and told him I received 8 incorrect posts or 14 incorrect shelves and the order was botched. A week passed and no word back. I called Quantum mfg. On 3/14/17 and explained the problem and was told by the SALES Person she couldn't help me because I was a Northern Tool customer and I all issues had to go through the NT. I explained I did call a week earlier but had not heard back. Unbelievable. I found an e-mail from NT on 3/18/17 with a link to send pictures to a contact at Quantum. I sent in pics and still don't have a satisfactory resolution. WTF. Buyer beware!

I bought a surface cleaner that worked a total of 40 minutes... took it back for a refund but they said they said they do not refund surface cleaners. After arguing with the manager for 15 minutes he took it back. They gave me a refund receipt but never actually refunded the money back to my credit card.
So now they have my money and the crappy surface cleaner!
HOW LOW CAN THIS COMPANY GET
It will be a cold day in hell before I ever shop at Northern again.

Faulty equitment
June 16, 2016

I ordered Ironton bucket forklift arms, I had to grind a little so they would slide onto my bucket which was ok but when I tightened the clamp the weld broke on the nut for the all thread. They said I can not return it. I didn't even get to use them. No more Northern Tool for me.
