The auto twirler is junk. I put it together and that was fine. I put my car on it and when I went to turn the gear box, it only rotated 1 time and then that was it. It would not turn anymore. The handle turns freely and does not rotate the car. I called northern tool customer service and they were no help, they were quick to palm me off to the manufacturer of the product which was no help either. Now I am stuck with an expensive tool that Is not functional and useless now. Do not buy this device from northern tool.
I ordered a $500.00 table saw from Northern Tool. After 2 weeks I recieved no notification of ship so I called. A very nice person explained that Northern doesn't really have this saw they just order it from the manufacturer to direct ship. It is scheduled to ship tomorrow. They would follow up. Another week goes by nothing... I call back. I get passed around a bit. I am told by a very nice person the same story. After being on hold she says it shipped this morning. I have received no notification from anyone electronically indicating this so I assume I was just patted on the head again to make me go away. Meanwhile since I make a living with my tools I have had to go purchase this $500. Item locally to keep working. I explain this to the nice person and the polite response included no offer to cancel the order or help me with my $500 unnecessary expense which is the result of them playing middle man and not following through with their end of the deal. My suggestion is YOU CAN DO BETTER GOING THROUGH A MORE REPUTABLE STORE!
They are unbelievable stupid and incompetent. I ordered a propane heater on Friday and got an email on Monday that the order was cancelled. So I call and wait forever to get a live person and then they tell me that there was confusion because the billing address on my credit card wasn't the same as the ship to address. Wow, complicated, huh? So I spent a lot of time explaining, they reprocessed my credit card info and said it would ship that day. Wednesday I notice I sitll haven't been notified of shipping and I go to the website and see it hasn't shipped. I get in a chat session and they tell me I need to call them to get the credit card info straightened out. I was not going to call, wait god knows how long again just to have to go over the same bull$#*!. They suck. I will never deal with them again.
I ordered a 72" snowblower for my Kubota Tractor on November 27th. At the time of the order Northern Tool gave me an estimated delivery date of December 4-6 to Brewer Maine. It is now the 12th and two snow storms later and no snowblower yet. If I use the tracking site it says it was at the shipping destination of Brewer Maine Yesterday. I looked today and it says it is now in Hartford CT! Between Yesterday and today I have sent two emails to Northern Tool Help and have not received anything back from them. I just called the Northern tool help line and was on hold for 15 mins before someone picked up. Then I was told I needed to be sent to the tracking dept and was put on hold for an additional 20 mins. Finally when someone picked up they were pleasant and got me the information I needed. They say it will be delivered tomorrow. First off if they do not know when it will be delivered they should not be putting an estimated delivery date at the time of purchase. I would have went somewhere local had I know it would take 17 days to get!
Hey NT... You are getting these BAD reviews for a reason. From my personal experience, there are some GREAT employees in your stores, but there are some REALLY BAD/RUDE ones that negate any desire to continue doing business with your company.
The hassel in picking up three (3) orders yesterday will probably keep me away from your Minnetonka store for a long time.
So, from time to time I spend a bunch of money with Northern Tool. That ended today. I will no longer purchase anything from them again. Recently, I spent a little over a $1000 on some two engine stands and two screw jacks. I could have gotten them cheaper and faster from a different company, but norther tool had a promotion for "free" gift cards. I spent over a $500, so I got an email with the $100 gift card number and pin. The first time I went to use it, I got called away from the computer and never finished the order. The second time I went to use it the balance was $0. I called the company to find out that it had expired less than two weeks ago and they will not refund the money. She said the expiration date was in the email. When I checked, it was there like she said, but it was only good for exactly 90 days. I have never heard of a gift card only being good for three months. I suppose it is my fault for not reading the whole email. Anyway, when I told the lady on the phone that I only bought from them for the gift card and I would not spend any more money with them, she absolutely did not care. That is some great customer service, and headquarters must be proud. I told her I had a decision to make, and since she did not care neither will I. Maybe she thought I was bluffing, but if she would have spent a second to listen and understand she would have known I was serious. I own a home improvement company and am constantly buying tools I need to get my jobs done. I will definitely not buy anything else from this company, there are plenty of other places to get better equipment. Oh well, at least there will be less catalogs for me to throw away in the future.
I was going to order a saw that was 200 dollars off and was told the price was good until Tues. Went to my cart, which I had saved online, and it was taken out. They claim item is discontinued. It is a new model saw, they must have realized they put the price lower than they wanted to honor. Lies! Never ever will I or anyone I know order from them again!
I ordered a tool box from Northern Tool ten days ago and have not received any shipment confirmation. Talked to customer service twice and got the standard 16 to 18 day shipping line. This is a freight item that will take 10 to 14 days enroute. Customer service was not interested in following up with the manufacturer to establish a shipping date. I cancelled the order and will not purchase from Northern tool again.
They sent me the wrong item, and then wanted me to pay return shipping and a 15% restocking fee on a $500 item do the math on that... VERY VERY RUDE AND DID NOT CARE THEY BASICALLY TOLD ME TO POUND SALT.
We ordered a critical tool to perform a job that we under under contract for. The tool arrived on Monday the 16th. It was missing a critical piece. We immediately called Northern Tool for the piece. At this point they have 4 days to get us the part. Here we are on Wednesday afternoon and still have no tracking or a replacement part on the way. We have notified Amex and intend to dispute the charge. This is no way to support a customer who is using your tools. We will purchase elsewhere so we are not let down. Advice to anyone interested in Purchasing from Northern Tool. If you can find your item elsewhere you will be better off. They do not care about you only care about selling cheap foreign made tools.
I have made two orders from Northern Tool and both have been a failure. On the first order for over $250, they didn't even ship the largest item, that was $200. It took several emails and requests for them to finally ship it. The second order that I made over 2 weeks ago, still says processing. I have emailed them and asked for an update. The reply I received told me to wait several more days for a follow-up, with no additional information. As far as I know I am not getting this item.
Please look online elsewhere if you are planning to buy anything from them. There are much better places to purchase from and better prices out there. Don't make the same mistake(s) I did.
Purchased a 4Kw generator from Ocala Fl Store during Erma. I fully understood no return policy. I called and asked if I could return if not used still in the box for store credit thinking I would by a larger gernerator perhaps built in with transfer switch. Showed up at store on 9/23. They said I can't get the credit without purchasing and ordering a new one on the spot. Didn't know exactly what I wanted or needed, they wouldn't move at all, not even for store credit ONLY for other new generator? Told them I would not be back. Ordered generac 11KW w transfer switch from AMAZON, less expensive, free ship, no hassle return. I like to ALWAYS purchase from local stores and people, but if they only bring hassle and not value. Sorry going on-line. Funny the store right next to them is out-of-business due to online competition. You think they Northern brick and mortar stores would learn. In my business you lose a sale never the customer. In this case they lost both! Anybody want to buy a new 4kw generator in the box?
Whatever you do DO NOT BUY A GENERATOR from this company. Last week my brand new $1800 ******* watt generator blew up and caused my house to catch fire. The fire investigator said the fire was caused because of a gas leak in the carburetor.
When I went outside at 1am to add gas to the generator there was already a fire inside the generator. When we went to turn it off... it backfired multiple times causing the generator to catch even more on fire.
My boyfriend and I tried fighting the flames that grew over 20 feet high and caught my roof on fire. My boyfriend was able to contain the flames on our roof using the hose. Thank God because the fire marshal said less than 5 more minutes more and my entire roof would have been in flames.
We've tried reaching out to this company to pay for the damages before taking legal action and have had no luck. My brand new house was almost burned down, my car has $4000 in damages (the flames were so hot it bubbled my car windshield), my boyfriend's car has damages, and we were not reimbursed for the generator we bought for $1800 days before my house almost burnt down!
I am thanking God we are okay because if we hadn't gone outside at 1am I would have been inside with my boyfriend and pets with the shutters still up and this would have been a different outcome (since the generator was already on fire when i went outside!).
This was the scariest moment of my life thus far and in a matter of minutes my house was on fire. I have a family friend who is a lawyer who will take the case, but he thought we should reach out Northerntool Tools & Equipment Shop to see if the company would do the right thing and take care of the damages. Guess this company doesn't care and I was told to send in the part that malfunctioned... the entire generator is fried!
Lesson learned. Thank you northern tool for almost burning my house down, burning my cars, and by almost killing me and my family by selling me a BRAND NEW MODEL AND GENERATOR.
Please share to save someone from buying this brand.
Order never arrived, called the 800 number, put on hold for a total of 20 minutes. Asked to speak to a supervisor when they did come back and was put on hold again. Then I was told I could not speak to a sales supervisor and was told I was being transferred to a "Customer Service" person. Waited another 10 minutes. The person answering argued with me not wanting to hear my concern and refused to let me speak to a supervisor. I finally got to a supervisor who told me that the small amount of information I had been given by Northern employees was wrong. I canceled the late order and asked for a credit to my credit card.
I will never order from this confused, closed minded, rude organization again.
Don't do business hereThis place is dishonorable. They have a price advertised on the Internet for a knife sharpener and I bought it. Then they came back the next day and refused to sell it to me at that price and wanted more money. Unbelievable! I told them they needed to honor the price that they advertised it for and they refused. Bad business! Do yourself a favor and don't deal with these people this place is dishonorable. I ordered a portable generator online on September 5th, the conformation email stated delivery 2-4 business days, check back in 24 hours for tracking information. I waited until the next evening to check on tracking details, nothing listed. I called the customer service number to inquire, they stated they had to information and that delivery would be 4-6 business days. When I began to read the email to them, they did some further investigation and said that the item was on back order and would be at least 2 weeks. Ok, not what I was told previously, so we cancelled that order and placed another order (different generator), that "was in stock" and "would get to me in 2-4 business days". So, I waited another 24 hours, still no tracking information, so again I called. Again, a different service rep. Said they had no tracking information at all and shipping would be 6-8 business days once it was processed and processing could be 24-72 hours. After speaking with several "supervisors", I finally was able to speak to someone who had a clue. Stephanie (based out of Minnesota) was phenomenal! She worked on getting the original generator I wanted, was very apologetic for the previous situations, even came in on her day off the next day to help finish the order (had to wait for the 1st order to be released from the card.) Placed the order and waited... I called a few hours later to check and see if there was any info and was told by another rep that the order was processing and it was not part of the shipment that left this morning. I was absolutely floored. Never trust a customer service rep, ALWAYS ask to speak to a supervisor (you might need to go through a few "supervisors" before you get to one that has a clue and cares.) Most of the reps that I spoke with were reading off of a computer screen, standard answers, clueless how to handle situations if it isn't spelled out for them in a standard answer. No one, other than Stephanie, said let me see what we can do here. I know that people answering the phone might not have the ability to do what Stephanie did, but at least say "let me get you to a supervisor", ask questions, something! By far the worst customer service I have ever seen...
My garage came and it was a pellet stove. The stove is in my truck and I will not be able to get my garage for 1 week. Can't use my truck because I am now responsible for the stove. I THINK IT SHOULD HAVE BEEN ON THE FASTEST TRUCK AVAILABLE.
NOT HAPPY I'M SORRY DOES NOT CUT IT!
The Northern Tool on Rivers Ave. Charleston, SC used to be one of my favorite stores to shop. I won't be shopping there again because they rolled my BIG and HEAVY Honda 3000 generator that had been worked on... out to me on a "lift table" with the bill in hand. No explanation of what was wrong with it, what was fixed nor any instructions about what to do in the future to avoid this breakdown (non ethanol gas). The man left the register area promptly after handing me off to the cashier, nearly running to back of store. I paid the bill and was waiting on someone to help me load it in my vehicle. The cashier came around the register and said "oh, this table lifts up, see, you don't need any help"... as she pumped the handle with her foot to lift the table! I couldn't believe it! They were obviously NOT going to help me load this 250+ pound machine! Never again! I'll go to my old store where they would absolutely NEVER allow an older woman out the door to load a 300 lb generator by herself!
I placed a order on july 28 for some bucket forks delivered for 336.26. I have a E-GIFT CARD for 100.00. The pin is 1533, E-Gift card last four numbers 8 576. I was trying to collect my 100.00 card from this order. The very next morning I called customer service and was told this would be taken of and a credit refund would be placed to my paypal account. This never happened. If it is this much trouble to order I will need to try a different company. Thanks, expect a review! Johnny Reiter *******@ntin.net
I purchased one of their industrial wall mounted fans (16") less than 30 days before a sale that literally reduced the price by almost 50%. It went from $98 down to $53! So I called the store manager at their Jacksonville location. His name was Glenn.
I explained the situation and he was very curt with me. Basically, he said "Every company in America has the right to run their business as they see fit. We are a privately run company." Wow, Glenn. Relax. He went on to tell me that they do not honor a sale price if you've already purchased the item prior to the sale. So I asked even if it has been less than 30 days? He said that's correct.
So that's good for all of you to know. This is a privately owned company and they can do whatever they want. Just ask Glenn. So I will now go to a publically run company such as Home Depot or Lowes or Ace for my future tool needs. You might also want to do that, too.
Answer: Absolutely horrible, you get the rub around with emails containing same useless info from multiple people, shop elsewhere and save yourself the stress and anxiety
