I had problems with Nord from day 1. The program didn't work properly and eventually I reached out to customer service and they told me to reinstall the program. That fixed the issue and I continued to use it. The significant issue came weeks later.

Suddenly I could no longer use the internet. I figured out that the culprit was Nord's antivirus protection blocking any browser usage.

I immediately reached out and they told me a fix would come. In the meantime they told me to just turn off their antivirus protection and continue to use my devices as normal. I asked for an ETA or to be notified when and they refused citing that they don't want to annoy their customers. They instructed me to periodically check if it had been fixed. That's unacceptable, especially for a security program. At this point it had been 5 days. I asked for a refund and they refused saying I was 3 days outside of my 30-day window.

After 9 days I reached out again. They gave me incorrect advice showing they didn't even know what plan I was on. They told me to reinstall AGAIN, which didn't fix the issue. There was still no ETA on a fix and they again refused to refund me even though at this point I had to pursue another antivirus option. I was not going to leave my devices vulnerable to who knows how long.

It's now been two weeks. I'll never use Nord again. They clearly have no respect for their users, their time, or money.

I recently had a query about NordVPN's dedicated IP addresses and was fortunate enough to receive assistance from Serena. I work remotely, and I was in need for a service that can provide me with a dedicated IP address. I have a transcript of NordVPN agents lying to customers about prices to obtain more subscriptions. I have a chat with several different agents and all are lying about the pricing. This is a warning for potential new customers and will be posted via several different platforms. Unbelievable!

Here's what happened, I purchased a subscription for my mom who lives in Iran so that she can connect to the Internet (due to regime restricting the network). She tried it but it didn't work, so I had to buy another VPN that works.
I then tried to contact Nord to cancel my subscription as they deliberately not allow the users to cancel it on their own. I attempted contacting their support through the chatbot many times withing the two weeks leading to my 30 day trial. Every time I tried it would show me a message to wait until they connect me to a live agent. 5-10-15 minutes later, I would get an error message that I am disconnected and I should try again. I went through this cycle almost every other day. Fast forward it to a day after my trial ends, and suddenly I get connected! Only to be denied cancellation, because it was "past the 30 day trial".
Regardless of the screenshots I provided from the chatbox, they denied refunding me. Now I have to live with 2 years of subscription I will never use.

Hello, due to severe internet blocking by the government in Iran most of the VPNs struggle to connect because uninterrupted internet connection is required. In terms of subscription cancelation, you don't need to contact us to cancel your plan. Simply login to your account at https://my.nordaccount.com and find "cancel subscription" option.

Amazing Customer Service

I was having a purchasing problem where the purchase wouldn't complete but also was taking my payments with each attempt I'd made. After being transfered to Dean, I was given a link that was successful in processing my purchase. I was also given a personalized coupon code for my troubles that'd lowered my total price by almost half of the price I was originally going to pay; which was already 69% off the original price with a different coupon code I was using from a youtuber. I couldn't stop thanking Dean enough after several failed purchasing attempts. The price cut was extremely amazing and I'm grateful; but I wouldn't even call that the highlight of this review.

At first, I thought this was great, but jumping IPs caused a slowdown on my PC over time, affecting all browsers. Firefox, Brave, and google chrome. I can't get a refund since I am 2 weeks past the 30 days. My next step is a chargeback and dispute with my card for selling me a broken product.

Not working

Just terrible service. Im currently in Abu Dhabi and when I try to connect it works for like 2 minutes and then it stops. Waste of money + they will try to charge you without your knowledge, so be very carefull

I've been a Nord customer since 2021 and never have had any problems. The last few days I noticed the location on my Edge home page display my current location. Up until a few days ago it has always been the location where the VPN connected to. I even changed to Double VPN and Onion VPN and my location still remains my current location. I reached out via chat and connected with Belle who informed me I needed to be connected to another team member and was connected to Webster and I waited 10 minutes before he even said anything. When he finally said something he said he had to transfer me to someone else, so I was connected to Esthel who again said the same thing, transferring to someone else. I go so frustrated and wanted to cancel since I paid for 2 years up front and was told no refund. Now I have to file a fraudulent charge with my bank to get my money back because I'm not paying for something when I can't even get help without keep getting transferred left in right without anyone even making an attempt to help resolve my issue. Horrible customer service.

Illusion of a VPN

Not only I have to constantly baby this thing to make sure it's connected, which it's mostly not, it prevents you from doing a lot of stuff online in a way that REAL protection would. The internet kill switch doesn't actually work, and these clowns can't even convince Yelp you're from somewhere else. If you're looking for a VPN, keep looking. Wish they'd give me my money back. Zero stars.

Signed up and paid a full two years for the best discount. The price seemed fair and the options seemed plentiful. Installed on both my Windows laptop and iPad. Everything fairly simple and straight forward. Almost immediately, some oddities started. I often visit yahoo.com for a news aggregator. After my first visit there, when I went back a second time, the VPN overrode my entry and switched it to the Spanish version of Yahoo. I eventually had to clear cache to stop it from constantly changing to the Spanish version. I then had intermittent problems with getting no internet messages. The biggest issue I encountered next was When I tried to log into my online bank account, it would never connect. Both the url and the app would fail. I turned the VPN off and could connect fine. Another issue I had was one website I visit blocks their server IP address. I also, maybe coincidentally, started getting a lot of scam phishing emails right after using their VPN.

I cannot recommend them. I did not sign up with them to deal with issues all day. Contacted them for a refund and cancelled. They did refund.

Their vpn is 100% garbage. Their web app version doesn't work-won't let you even log in. The chromebook extension works to block "some sites" BUT it no longer works to block Youtubetv so that a paying customer can watch it outside of the US. I recently started a subscription w/youtubetv and, again, it doesn't work-EVEN though they advertise falsely that their vpn works best w/Youtubetv. Their customer service is beyond atrocious and actually hostile-and they expect you to do the troubleshooting for them! I had purchased a 2 year plan ($94) a year before I got the Youtubetv paid monthy subscription and they REFUSED to refund a measle $47 back to me. They are based in Panama City in order to skirt US laws and regulation, naturally. They are petty and cheap. I had to switch to their big rival, ExpressVPN and it works w/Youtubetv.

Auto renew

Like most on here I find that their auto renew is awful. They manage to take payment from my account using expired payment info. They had attempted and failed to take payment on no less than six occasions. Most would give up after 2. Glady my bank don't charge for these. Cut and paste answers from customer service. Very predatory get 1 year for £90 wether you want it or not. Service is slow and required reconnection a fair bit. Just awful from start to finish.

Regarding the automatic payments, we advice to cancel recurring payments on your account settings, that way our system won't attempt to charge you in order to extend the subscription. So I purchased Nord VPN and it worked ok for about 2 months until it came time for an update. After the update it would not work at all, could not connect, it was frozen and totally useless. I contacted the online chat help desk and spoke to various people with fake names who could not fix the problem and promised me someone would be in contact via email within 72 hours. That never happened. So I went to online chat again after 5 days and asked what was happening only to be told "we are working on it". I then asked to not worry about trying to fix the issue and just refund the amount less the 2 months it worked ok only to be told "We will not do that" They told me they would talk to management and email be. Never happened after another 3 days. So I went again back online to ask whats happening only to be told "We have a technical issue" When I asked about the refund the reply was "Sorry about that" These guys are nothing other than scammers.

Very poor customer support
October 1, 2022

A bug in their system decided to throw my account away somewhere halfway my subscription. I contacted them to ask them about my account. They replied that they couldn't find my account. And I probably had an account somewhere else.

Now on the end of my factual subscription. All of a sudden they know to find me and tell me that my subscription will be renewed next month.

I asked them for clarification. And all they replied is that I should have used the forgot password system. As in... Your luck... (it was the first thing I tried back-then).

Absolutely 0 helpful customer support. My advice. Stay away from them!

They stole my money

I waited 18 hours for chat to respond. When I emailed them to complain they blamed me for the chat not connecting. They told me that you needed to enter an email to get the chat to connect even when the chatbot asked me to wait while they connect me. The chatbot never said they wouldn't connect me without an email. The reason why I didn't enter an email is because the vpn service was because I typed my email address wrong. And I had to contact them to change my email. The VPN never worked anyways. The IT techs were borderline unethical in their emails when they treated me like scum. They continually blamed me, were impatient, rude and didn't have the skills to resolve a basic issue like changing emails. They didn't know how their chat system worked and blamed me for waiting 18 hours for support. I wasn't working at the time, $90 was a lot of money. When they refused to act like decent humans I forgot the "wrong email" I used and couldn't ask my bank to refund my money since I had no proof. This is what happens when they don't have gender diversity in their IT tech division. Surfshark however was amazing. The woman that picked up the call resolved my issue in under 30 seconds and was extremely polite and respectful. She had no problem locating my transaction. Many people use bitcoin and other untraceable currency or email for additional security. So the fact that she didn't need a lot of information to help me was surprising and gave me pause when the reps at Nord acted like my issues were unsolvable. They also never transferred me to a supervisor thinking I'd go away and not try to get a refund. I find that with good customer service, they're quick to get a manager involved when they think it'll be better for a customer but bad companies discourage supervisor intervention.

The customer service is literally non-existent. The auto-renewal policy is one of the worst I've ever had the displeasure of experiencing. They are either desperate or just greedy to not provide refunds when the renewal was being cancelled the day after the renewal.
