I booked this cruise over a year ago and this isn't our first cruise with them. Yet they called me 2 days before leaving to tell me my husband isn't allowed on the ship because of his background. 2 days? You tell me with 2 days notice? For a trip I planned over a year ago?

What kind of crap shoot is this? Who does this? I had to break the news to my elderly mother, and my two teen daughters.

Even if my hubby was allowed to cruise on your ships, I'm good. I don't need to cruise with you, nor do I want to anymore.

I get people are "worried" over ex cons, but in my eyes, they served their time, they did their part. If they haven't reoffended, they shouldn't be discriminated against. And this is discrimination to the T.

Background: our first cruise. Family of 6.2 separate rooms on deck 10. One balcony room and one interior cabin. Our package came with $50 excursion credit per excursion and 150 min internet package. Pre paid the service fees on line and my husband added the soda package and upgraded internet to him only.
The GOOD: food was great and easily accessible. Rooms were clean and felt like a good use of space. Beds were comfy. And showers had shampoo and bodywash available. Ship was well maintained.
The BAD: AC didn't work in one room the first night, 150 min internet does not apply to minors, ships communication package at $10/person doesn't work 95% of the time. The ship was crowded. There were never chairs available by pools unless you were the first ones there. The larger pool was for 18+ and the small family pool was over crowded and kids had no room to move. Rope courses close ten minutes before their posted close times so that the employees can get to different work areas in time. $50 credit only applies to the first person in the room, so if they don't want to go, no credit. Jewelry shop employees mislead you to make money. Ship smells like cigarettes, Laundry service is extremely expensive. There are no self laundry options. Soda package is not worth it. The only place you can get a soda is at a bar, where the bartenders are catering to people with alcohol packages. The wait for any given soda was 30mins.
The UGLY: The ships tendering process is very poorly run and does not leave you time on the island. Time from ship to island was 1 hour and 10 mins. Time waiting in line for tender to get back to ship was 95 mins. Once on that tender another 35 mins to get back to boat. Food service on this island stops promptly at 2pm so they can bring it back to the boat. They will take it away in front of you. Excursion listed as "relax at long bay beach, beef island" DO NOT DO THIS ONE. The group running it begs for tip money and explains slum like living conditions. The beach area is run down with broke facilities, dangerous showers. You must rent their chairs and umbrella, its not optional and very misleading.
The HORRIBLE: When asked for a diet coke, waitress served my alcoholic husband a whiskey and coke. My 11 yr old sipped it first while waiting for his drink to be filled and said there was something wrong. Husband tried it and realized it was almost pour alcohol. No apology from waitress, just an "i must have grabbed the wrong glass" Yes, we told guest services and no we were not happy with their apology.

I was very dissatisfied with NCL. Do not take an NCL cruise to the Grand Cayman Islands. NCL arrive at Grand Caymen, when multiple ships are in port. There are not enough island-based tenders to get passengers from all ships ashore.
As NCL passengers watch passengers from other ships go ashore (using island-based tenders), NCL told their passengers that they cannot go ashore because the swells are too rough. Others can go but you can't go ashore. It appears that NCL just doesn't want to pay for the cost of island-based tenders.
Passengers and crew told me that this is a common problem and that NCL doesn't care.

We've sailed NCL often, but will NEVER do so again. Since the pandemic they have gone down, down, down, just like their stock. They call/email incessantly now, begging you to sail with them, and track your log-ins on the website. Then, they call call call—as late as 8pm and 9pm at night. And when you get even the slightest bit irritated to a C/S rep, they lie to you about you having given them permission to call you & hang up on you. Then, when you call corporate office, they are just as rude & hang up on you, too! OMG. Unreal. Sail Windstar, which is an AMAZING cruise line. Or, Viking, or heck, even Royal Caribbean. NCL needs to close its doors, IMHO. Went from Excellent, to good, to okay, to awful. I even own stock in NCL, which I'll be selling.

False Advertisement
December 28, 2023

We normally book cruises on a different cruise line. We saw that NCL was offering second person is free. So I start the booking process to find out that the price advertised as per person is not the actual amount but it's that amount doubled per person. Was looking to try a new cruise line but will not be sailing on NCL. Called customer service for clarification and got more of a run around with pricing. We cruise 3 or more times a year and will definitely not choose this line with its unethical pricing. Second person should not be advertised as free if they are not really free.

NCL scam
December 4, 2023

The sales pitch to us they want $3K lump sum to guarantee them 12 more cruises with them. Food was horrible there was Ham & corn on Pizza, Dill Pickles & Beets in stroganoff. A major sewer back up all of deck 5 no compensation. Music at the pool was funeral music. The shows I have seen high school level better than that. The cheesecake was Jello form. The list just goes on & on!

Never Again Norwegian
December 3, 2023

OMG, Norwegian sucks. My family, 2 parents and 4 teens, went on a Thanksgiving cruise. Parents have cruised many, mant times so we tried Norwegian for this family cruise. When booking, everything is a, "YES of course." Then once you board the answer to everything was no! Food was mediocre unless you paid for upgraded restaurants which have limited availability. All service was poor beacuse the ship is so understaffed. Excursions are unreasonably expensive. Boarding took forever. Onboard credit women is so rudeand unhelpful. Stick with Royal Carribean or Princess.

We recently retired and took our first cruise earlier this year with NCL. We enjoyed cruising and plan on many more.
We are currently booked on a Norwegian cruise in January 2024 with a promo that includes free airfare for the second guest. However, the flight departure times that Norwegian booked for us are horrible, and after talking to several NCL cruise consultants, as well as their VP of Guest Services, they refused to change our flights even though there are many available flights departing at much better times. We're senior citizens and live 2 hours from the airport, and they have us departing at 6am. On the return, they booked us on a flight that arrives just before midnight even though we'll be disembarking the ship early in the morning. So we'll need to hang around the airport for 12 hours!
We're traveling with others who are booked on much better flights. Norwegian's inflexibility may change our mind about cruising with Norwegian again.

My wife and I pre paid for a Hawaiian cruise well in advance of the cruise date as it was advertised as "limited time. Special pricing ".
We now discover that the cruise we prepaid for is being offered on Norwegian's web site for $4800.00 less than what we paid!
We asked Norwegian to consider giving us a refund for the difference... or... a credit for future cruises... or... at the very least some kind of consideration... perhaps an upgrade...
We were simply told that there was nothing NCL could do... we called and emailed NCL 3 separate times asking them to re consider. Their response each time was..." that there was nothing NCL could do".
We feel cheated and taken advantage of... we will never cruise with NCL again!
We recommend others to look to other more repudiable Cruise Lines and avoid NCL.

Been on several cruises with NCL, last August we cruised to mexico and decided to buy a couple pieces of art from park west gallery operating on NCL, we were told that the art was the actual art we bidded on, when we received the art, it was copies of the original which we were led to believe we were getting, they refuse to refund our money, we then started looking up Paek west gallery and was astonished to see the numerous complaints, basically they are a predator company being allowed to operate under the NCL with no ramifications for their predatory practices, buyer be aware before you get scammed. NCL is hosting this behavior on their ships, do not buy from Park West Gallery, they are a bait and switch company

NCL Encore lost luggage
October 15, 2023

Arrived back to pier 66 Seattle WA on the NCL ENcore, we purchased the airport to pier transport NCL package prior to our cruise. Our luggage picked up from our stateroom and on arrival to airport our luggage was lost. Transport staff told us luggage is lost every day. This is unacceptable.

Disaster
October 14, 2023

There is so much that went wrong that I don't know where to start. First off, I have taken many cruises and the next comment is the meanest thing I can say. NCL is on par with Carnival.
80% of the workers were absolutely rude as can be. Theyre nearing the last 2weeks of their 8 month contract apparently so many won't renew so they simply don't care. Our stateroom attendant was the worst of them all. Nothing onboard was open. The swimming pool never open, water park. Go karts mini golf laser tag all closed. They said it's b/c of rain but it literally rains at sea every day and it was minima rain. They got us late into port by 90 minutes and it was Canada so it took even longer. We had dinner reservations with friends in Victoria which we missed. It's already the shortest stop at 3.5 hours so you'd think they'd extend time but no. So we had 2 hours maximum which is no time at all. They just don't care at all about service and that's really sad.

Norwegian Encore a Bust
October 3, 2023

Our recent Alaskan Cruise on NCL was a bust. Cancelled excursions, ports, lack of service, ugh! This cruise line is NOT a cruise line for foodies. The food was bland (think tacos no salsa), and poorly cooked. We were so disappointed. I never once saw a busboy wipe a seat off, so I did myself, EVERY TIME! Next door to our cabin was 2 adults and twin babies. Yep, infants! The parents just let them cry, over and over. We complained and we were told a message would be sent to the occupants. Not sure they spoke/read English. We were exhausted and frustrated at the end of the cruise. We let 3 Staff on the cruise know the problem. They did not offer or find any help for us. All announcements were made OUTSIDE the cabin. So when a port was cancelled, we barely caught the news as we were in our cabin. I poked my head out and caught the end of the announcement, so called Guest Svcs to verify. 20 minutes on hold later, yep, the port was cancelled. We were so tired, somehow I changed the safe combination. Tried opening the safe after returning to our room, no luck. Went to Guest Svcs, they said Security would be there in 30 minutes. After waiting 2 hours, called Guest Svcs., they said wait until the next morning, which was the disembarkation day. We waited, no luck. I thought maybe I entered the code differently two times, so we tried that number and it worked. Or we would still be on the boat waiting for Security. What a mess. Be informed before you go on an NCL cruise. Don't place the bar for service, food or following the itinerary too high and you will only be slightly disappointed. Our last cruise on Royal was fabulous, so our expectations were much higher and we now will never use NCL again.

If I could give a minus 10 would. This would have been our 4th cruise on NCL. United Airlines canceled our flight when we were getting ready to board, they gave no reason for the cancelation. NCL booked our flight so we were at their mercy, it was a red-eye from Denver to Boston. We conacted United and they told us there were no flights available to get us to Boston to catch the ship before it set sail the next afternoon. We contacted the NCL emergency number and were told there was nothing the could do to help us and that we should contact the main number the next morning. We have filed claims with both NCL and the travel insurance Aon and have been told we are out of luck and that there would be no refund. We are out OVER $3000 that isn't right because the flight cancelation was not our fault. We will NOT be cruising with NCL ever again and will not recommend them as we hae in the past but tell others to go with some other cruise line.

They sold a package cruise plus airfare. NCL got a refund on our plane tickets and left us stranded in the Athens, Greece airport unable to ticket us home to Tampa, Fl for some reason. The representative told us to buy return tickets home for the next day and we would be reimbursed. They will not reimburse us. They say some nonsense about how they are not responsible for delayed flights. We paid for tickets. We spent $3,700 in addition to a $9,000 cruise.
They kept the airfare $ and are unwilling to do the right thing. Rip off!

INCOMPETENT
September 23, 2023

Customer service reps are disrespectful and rude. Once final payment Is received, all benefits discussed and promised in the package disappears. They put you on hold for 30 minutes at least pretending to seek supervisor assistance. This tactic has been used several times with my family and friends. The issue is never resolved. A cruise concierge from the Fort Lauderdale office told a relative his job was to make sales, not to resolve his NCL problems. I was told that seniors needed to realize that they were no longer a functioning, needed section of society, therefore our complaints were no prioritized.
