Disappointing service

The destination was great.
On board the ship no so great
Chose this on a recommendation from a friend that is a avid cruiser. We were first time cruisers that consisted of 6 family members, all of us are adults. The embarkation process worked very well. Very organized and efficient. The process for disembarkation at the ports was chaotic and inefficient. At Juneau we had a whale watching excursion booked thru the cruise line, it was scheduled to start 30 minutes after our arrival. Before booking I talked to the cruise excursion people concerning the arrival and start time. I was told people with close times would receive priority disembarkment, that was false, also a accounting would be taken to ensure everyone who booked would make it. Also false, they left without checking and left people off the trip. The excursion left a hour late which shortened the first stage of the excursion. The other real problem concerns dining in any place other than specialty dining or the buffet dining. As a party of 6, it was extremely difficult to get seated, they would not take reservations for 6 or less. The hostess would take your info, then not follow thru with seating. Once seated, meals took approximately 2 hours. During that time there was possibly one time they would refill your drinks/water. At one dinner, they started refilling water glasses and ran out with 2 glasses left, he left and never returned to finish filling the last two. After the main course, the wait was indefinite for the desert menu. At 3 different sittings after waiting for over 30 minutes for that, we gave up and left. Not sure if this is exclusive to this ship, NCL or cruises in general. They were either unorganized or understaffed or both. I cannot recommend this line or ship at this time.

It was okay overall because of the shore excursions. But I won't return to Norwegian. My Celebrity Beyond Cruise was WAY WAY better! The Celebrity cruise staff was MUCH friendlier and MUCH more organized. It was a nightmare embarking and disembarking! At times, VERY dangerous with thousands of people crowded in areas to get off the ship for shore excursions. They should have a better system. Celebrity had a much safer, more efficient system. Staff was NOT accommodating. For example, I asked for a can of Coke for my mixed drink instead of the syrupy junk they had at the well. They REFUSED because it wasn't part of my package. We offered to pay for the Coke and they still REFUSED to give it to me. Seriously?! Are you kidding me? Lines were long for everything, and I hardly got to participate in onboard activities because they were booked so fast on the first day for the entire voyage. Almost every onboard activity came at a price. Jeez. Good luck getting a seat in the dining area. CROWDED! Food was the same old thing every day with only minor variations. Flavorless, cheap... Restrooms had soap dispensers that were glitchy. The airdryer for your hands were worthless, and the paper towel dispensers put out 1/2 a sheet.

My family and friends have used Norwegian Cruise Line for years as our preferred cruise line. Unfortunately, after this last experience, we will NEVER use them again. For this particular trip, we've booked about 40 cabins in all as a group trip to Alaska. My father booked the reservations for him/my mom, my sister/husband, and me/my cousin, with that being said my father also called in to set up a deviated flight for all of us to leave out of JFK on 6/19 instead of 6/21. EVERYONE'S flights were changed to the correct departure date EXCEPT for mine. So I have spent over 6 hours on the phone trying to figure out how that had happened and no one will answer that question for me because there is supposedly "no recording" of my dad making that change YET my sisters and his were changed, so again I ask how is that possible? One person said they may have lost the call and so it's still my problem even if they lost the call. To me that is an unacceptable anger and so I have been hung up on multiple times because they have said they WILL NOT help me further and they WILL NOT answer the simple question HOW IS IT POSSIBLE THERE'S ARE CHANGED BUT MINE ARE NOT. So sorry Norwegian this WILL be the last time my family and I use you guys. Have a wonderful day!

TOTAL RIP OFF

Please do not fall for the buy 1 and second one free to Europe. We made the mistake of booking a 9 day cruise for this July 2023. We are a party of 5 and booked 2 rooms, 1 with my mother in law who is in her 70's and doesn't speak the language with an 11 year old and a 14 year old and other room I am with my husband. This has been a total mess - they first booked us at 2 different airports. That was a mission to get it corrected. That was the mistake of the person that booked the reservation and it took 3 long calls to get it corrected. We are 5, how do they book 1 at the Miami airport and the other in Ft. Lauderdale airport. Now they booked one room to go from Ft. Lauderdale- Atlanta- Greece and the other Ft. Lauderdale- and now when we received our airline flights they separated us. The other room was booked to go from Ft. Lauderdale- Montreal- Greece. We were never told at booking that we would separated.Had we known about this mess we would had never made any reservations. If we cancel, we are only given back 2k and this trip cost us over 12k. What crooks. Please go with RCCL or the rest and please investigate well prior to making any bookings. Unfortunately, we are stuck.

Last year we booked a 10 night cruise with a balcony It was our 1st time on Norwegian thought we would try them since we are stock holders We have Thirty some cruise on Royal,celebrity,Princess,MV Alantic,Seaborn
We boarded Getaway on May 1 When we arrived at our cabin their were paint chips covers the patio and everything on it Our attendant was very nice and cleaned it the best he could
The next day we received letters stating they would be painting our balcony's everyday we were in port which was all but two days(sea days) we had no access while this was going on
Even when our Balcony wasn't being painted it was used to store the chairs and tables from other balcony's our drapes had to be closed because the workmen were walking back and forth so you never knew when someone was going to be there This is not the the first time our balcony was painted while on other ships
They got it done in one day not 8 days that Norwegian did Our cabin stunk from the fumes
We went to talk to them about it They were annoyed with us and said all you needed to do was notify them and the would stop I asked why didn't you notify us that this would be going on before so we could switch cabins or ships I'm sure you had this scheduled ahead of time by I wasn't looking for my money back but we should of been credited for the balcony to a cabin
All they said basically oh well cruise with us again and maybe it will be different
I doubt that will happen and would never recommend them to anyone

One and Done

There are too many BETTER cruise lines to spend my money on. Horrible service, subpar food on the Gem. The only good thing was the entertainment. Complained to customer service and was told 'sorry you feel that way', they clearly have no interest in improving.

To say we are disappointed in our Mediterranean cruise would be a major understatement.

To start, we booked our airfare through them. Big mistake. Even though they guarantee you make to your cruise on time, about a third of the passengers did not. So we lost the first 2 days of our trip. Our checked bag got lost during our travel and it was never found. The accommodations they made for us while we were trying to catch the next stop were atrocious. We had to buy all new clothes at the first stop, which NCL offered a $200 on board credit with no clothing options on board.

When we finally got aboard, the rooms are dated, the beds are like sleeping on notebook paper. The service is severely lacking and the food is straight out of a cafeteria. Even the specialty restaurants had poor food quality.

The cherry on top was the ship decided to change our final port of call without telling anyone, so we missed our transfer to the hotel we booked.

We will never cruise NCL ever again. They managed to take what should be a beautiful Mediterranean vacation, and turned it into a travel nightmare.

The worst part is they treat you like it's your fault.

This organization has without a doubt the WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE of any business I have ever dealt with. As in NONE...the customer is ALWAYS wrong! Any positive ratings are simply due to people avoiding the pitfalls and had a good time, never realizing the potential for disaster. If you are one of the lucky ones, congratulations! If you have the SLIGHTEST problem, these crooks will go out of their way using one of their obscure loopholes. Expect compensation? Refunds? Credits? Good luck...their insurance company is just as bad. They will find a way to tell you you had no coverage. I could go on but their defenders (certainly not NCL) will accuse me of just being a whiner. Wonder why they got an "F" from the BBB? Wonder no longer.

Don't Book with NCL

The customer service and the lack of trying to resolve and issue for the guest is horrendous.
Booked three cabins and they didn't book the party on the same flight. I called several times and the lack of compassion and interest in trying to resolve the issue for our family was so disappointing. I will never book a vacation with NCL and neither would I recommend this cruise line to any friends or family. Very disappointing.

1. STAY AWAY - ALL THEY DO IS PUSH SALES, BUY ART, BUY LIQUOR, BUY BUY BUY
2. LIMITED ACTIVITIES
3. TEENAGERS UNSUPERVISED CURSING AND SCREAMING
4. NEVER ANY ROOM TO USE THE POOL OR HOT TUBS
5. AT TIMES THE ELEVATORS AND PATHWAYS WERE DIRTY WITH KIDS LEAVING FOOD IN THEM.
6. POOR STAFF WERE OVERWHELMED
7. WENT TO GUEST SERVICES 2X AND NOTHING WAS DONE
8. DUE TO WEATHER WE COULD NOT STOP AT THE PRIVATE BEACH BUT THEY DID NOT GIVE US THE HEADS UP UNTIL THE MORNING OF THE PORT
9. THEY ADDED ANOTHER SEA DAY
10. THE CRUISE DIRECTOR WAS ANNOYING WITH HIS CONSTANT SCREAMING AND LAUGHING
11. I WOULD LIKE MY MONEY BACK

So I'm on the phone with the agent at NCL and ask if the Gratuities are included. She says yes they are included with the food and bar. Great I just got back from a NCL Cruise in October and all the gratuities were paid. Awesome! Then I look at my receipt after I put my deposit down and I don't see free gratuities. So I called and they turn around and tell me that I get free gratuities for food and bar but I have to pay gratuities for service. So now I booked four people $12,000 cruise and they're playing games. All they had to do was be transparent with me. They should've told me that the food and beverage gratuity was free but you have to pay for your room service $20 a day. But they didn't. I was like that's another $900 so I canceled the whole cruise. They are going to lose a lot of customers this way. They're playing games with valued customers. This valued customer is not coming back. BE CAREFUL EVERYONE!

Talk about customer dis-service. I advise everyone to stay away. Don't expect to get any favorable treatment. Better off flushing money down the toilet, it might provide more benefits than giving money to this band of thieves

They advertise that the cruises include free items at see, such as wifi, excursions, all inclusive beverage package, etc. Once purchased you do not see the items. When you call customer service they say that our reservations does not include it. We asked to upgrade and they claim they cannot do that and charge for just a beverage package more then the cost of the cruise itself. There customer service was useless. I have sailed with them multiple times and will never again! I will do my best to keep people from sailing with them.

Let me educate you and save you

DO NOT use Norwegian cruise lines ever. You will find that they're not helpful. Once they have their money they will provide no customer service. They refused to allow us to fly in early for a trip to Europe. Their response was cancel the flight service with them for a refund of 25% of what you paid for the round trip tickets and book your own. Most intelligent people when going on a cruise want to get there early and enjoy the day before boarding the cruise ship. Their idea of a good vacation is flying you in the day before on a red eye so that you are literally exhausted from your flight before you board the ship. Does that sound like customer service to you?

A trip that cost nearly 5 digits (10,000) and they refused to alter anything, refused to allow us to fly early, refused everything that we tried to do for our honeymoon. I guarantee you it will be the first and the last time that we utilize Norwegian Cruise Lines for anything. I don't care if they're giving the trips away.

They are a trash company that won't allow their teleworkers to change or assist with anything. It would be an outright joke of a business except for the fact that they're robbing people blind then telling them to enjoy their trip.

NCL = No Customer Locus

If ever a cruise line deserved to go bust for their total lack of customer focus then NCL must surely head the queue. As in all things human, things can go wrong but that was not the issue, it was the total lack of interest in doing anything about the issues (or even learning from their mistakes) that was so telling with NCL. So our GOLD tier now lies abandoned and we will cruise elsewhere!

NORWEGIAN GEM

We just got back from the Caribbean from 2/27 to 3/10/2023. I have to say that this was not one of the best cruises we have taken. Now this was our 5th cruise with Norwegian and the service was not the best. I did have issues that seemed to be taken care of. I am still waiting on my deposit of $132.46 my reservation #*******. My husband and I are taking another cruise on 10/3/2023 reservation #******* and I really hope the service will be better. What I mean about the service is when we went to go eat at any of the restaurants we had to wait a long time before someone would take our order and the one day we went to the Irish restaurants I ordered my food and a beer gave the waitress my card and I never got my beer with my lunch. I had to keep asking people if I can get my beer that I ordered 20 minutes ago. I finally got it but my lunch was already finished. I hope someone will read this and let me know about my deposit on when I will receive it back and hoping that the service on my next cruise won't be so bad. Thank you Rita Palumbo

From the booking process that took 4 days and over 40 hours to the cruise it's self it was awful. Our room was filthy when we arrived and the staff was overwhelmed and got rude with people. Princess has my business moving forward.
