I rang through to Nationwide hire after being let down by another company and was very happy with their service compared to the other company, they delivered the van to me within just 4 hours and really went out of their way to help us, the services I received were great and I would highly recommend.
I booked the below vehicle via live chat and telephone and made it clear that I needed to rely on prompt delivery of the vehicle to pick up a group of people at Bristol Airport for 3.30 pm that day. I was assured that the vehicle would be with me on time.
I then phoned around 9 am on 18 June ( the day of the delivery) to again make this point and I was told that the vehicle would definitely be with me either before 2 pm or at 2 pm. No later than that.
I phoned the company at 2.10 pm to raise my concerns that the vehicle still had not arrived and was told that someone would phone me straight back. This did not happen and I rang at least 5 times between 2 and 3.30 pm to check on the whereabouts of the bus.
Twice, the phone was put down on me as soon as I said who I was which I found extremely rude. I received no call back from your office at any point and no apology. When I phoned at 3.30pm I asked to speak to senior management and was then given the number of the bus company based in Cheltenham and had to deal with the issue myself. Again, no phone call or communication from your company at all after to see if things worked out for me.
As a result of being late and having to change plans, the group was let down and we missed out on a prepaid guided tour of Bath that day which I was unable to cancel. This was £150.
In addition, the bus itself was not in no fit state:
1) The back door was damaged inside the hinge broke off which had been badly damaged and badly put back together with the result that we were unable to shut the door properly and had to get this repaired temporarily.
2) The windscreen wiper on the drivers side flew off on the last day when it was raining leaving me to drive the vehicle without proper visibility back to the airport. On examination, all windscreen wipers were not fit for purpose and should have been replaced quite some time ago.
3) We could not use the key fob as the batteries were empty.
I wish I had read the reviews first. As several have said, I hired the van for 24 hours and had it delivered to and picked up from my house. I fully re-fuelled it as requested but a week later they emailed me to say that they had applied an "insufficient fuel" surcharge, 12 litres of diesel at £2.38 per litre including VAT, whereas I on paid £1.19 for the fuel I put in. I challenged this and they stated that their "complaints procedure" allowed them 28 days to investigate. Needless to say, they didn't come back to me so I chased them. They tried to claim it was justified but couldn't give me any details. They finally refunded me the money when I said I would go to the small claims court. It wasn't the money it was the principle. They should have their ability to accept credit cards withdrawn if they abuse the trust of their clients. My Credit Card Company was very helpful.
The van from this Nationwide Hire was in extremely good shape and reliable and it has got me up and down the country several times without fail.
The other companies I tried, their vans were terrible.
Used the company several times. They have been easier to talk to, very efficient in the way they work. Never let me down.
Would recommend.
Far to much to complain about. Feel free to contact me *******0261, Steve Sharp.
Hired a Mercedes Vito (or similar) to take the family skiing in Europe, on the day received a Transit minibus which had been used as a work van, dirty stained seats and a ton of scaffolding bolted to the roof as a roof rack, phoned and complained and told it is similar, how exactly? A transit minibus is in no way similar except for having 9 seats, no refund, absolute rip off!
Very disappointed.
You should be ashamed of yourselves
Truly terrible. DO NOT USE even if your life depends on it. This company is a broker meaning they rent a car or van then re-rent it to you + their mark up. No problem with that in itself however the additional charges they will continue to bill you for as a part of their "terms and conditions" is the problem. Any quote they give you add on another 50% that they will take without asking. Return with a full tank - no problem they'll charge you for extra fuel anyway. Insurance - yep consider that excluded. And if you have a problem or a dispute with the charges expect to be belittled. My tip... if you are reading this because you have been scammed by them contact your credit card company and have them dispute the charges.
This seemed like a great deal and the rental online was easy and the vehicle was delivered within an hour of the time it was booked. After that, everything else did not work. The vehicle was delivered with very little fuel and had not been cleaned from the last rental (rubbish in the boot area). The vehicle was not collected on time; it was collected more than TWO DAYS after it was scheduled and thus fees were incurred for those two days of extra parking. Moreover, it was impossible to get anyone to return a call about the return and no apologies were offered or phone call received when the vehicle was finally collected. Even a follow up email to state my disappointment with the customer service and breach of contract received no acknowledgment of the content or that they had done anything wrong by picking up the vehicle so long past the contracted time. After all of that, 3 weeks later I received an exorbitant invoice for a very small scuff on the bumper with no details about the work that would be done to repair the scuff or guarantee that the work would actually be done. When I enquired about these details, I was told that I needed to speak to their suppliers as they have nothing to do with this. Very poor. Do not use this company.
First Nationwidehire is just a broker so you will be charged the highest fee ever second all your details including credit card or debit card will be pass on to a third party automatically without your consent, i have booked a 7.5 truck supplied buy the most dogies company in the uk based in uxbridge the ruck was hand painted to cover rust and dents. First a 500 pounds come out of my account when i contacted natiowide they said it's the truck company not them when i contacted the truck company they refunded half of it and claimed the truck was damaged by me. Then 300 pounds come out from my account by nationwide wish they deny taking
This is the worst and the most scruples hire company out there JUST AVOID AT ALL COST They are other ones much cheaper and better service.
I would leave a minus score if I could. Absolutely terrible!
Asked for delivery of 11.00am and arrived at 12.00 noon
Asked for collection of 10.00pm same day but didn't come for it till 12.30 pm the following day. Didn't reply to my phone calls. Eventually got thtough but unhelpful staff. Found out off driver that they were using my adress as storage for the van for the following days delivery as it saves them money b****y cheek! Will never use again.
I found this site while looking for a 7.5tonne truck to hire. This site advertises a 7.5 tonne automatic transmission truck with sleeper-cab and tail-lift. I used the facility that provides a quote, and got a price for three days hire. When I contacted the company, I was informed by their agent: "We do not have auto trucks, I can tell you catagorically that I have never seen auto's advertised on our site." So is this false advertising, or is it that the agents on the phone are badly trained?
