Still worst company around

Well Marcelle of customer services and what a laugh that is. You do not even stick to your own terms and conditions when it comes to refunds so I have as promised begun legal action against you.

#fraudulant company
June 20, 2018

We were royally let down on our moving day after pre booking 3weeks ahead of date! No apology from any of them! After trying to contact them endlessly on the day they eventually answered and replied, oh well... There isn't a driver available to deliver vehicle. It wasn't an option for us to go and collect as it was so far away. It completely ruined our moving day. We still havnt had an apology. Also they are holding the VAT back on the service they couldn't provide! I will be taking them to the small claim court if this isn't dealt with. Please save yourself alot of trouble and stay clear. They are a middle man who wing their luck on the day to see if they can find a vehicle. Worst service iv ever encountered!

NationwideHireUK.co.uk are another not trustworthy
June 18, 2018

We initially booked a van on line and spoke extensively with there customer representatives at the time of booking to ensure that there where NO complications as we where booking a van to and from Liverpool on separate dates, a week apart.

At the time of booking we where asked to pay for each trip, which we did, and where asked to provide a copy of my driving license for security and insurance purposes

The first van arrived in good time at out home address, in fact the evening before we where scheduled to travel, the keys being posted through the door, as both my wife and myself where still at work. So no checks to see if there was any damage first or sign off on the van.

Having loaded the van and traveled to The Premier Inn at Rain Hill near Liverpool to meet friends, we unloaded the van, and continued our journey the following day over to the Isle of Man for our stay.

However we where informed at the time of booking that the van we hired would be collected from the hotel that evening at 6:00 PM, but where somewhat surprised to received a phone call from the Premier Inn stating that the van was still in there car park the following Tuesday! Some four days later, as they where concerned we would be charged for not returning it, although the arrangement had been made some weeks earlier with NationwideHireUK.co.uk

We therefore had to spend time contacting there customer services to enquirer why and to notify them it hadn't been collected.

This was probably our biggest mistake as we had booked a second van for our journey home having brought substantially large items back with us from the IOM, hence the necessity for the van hire, which was due to to be delivered to us at 8:30 AM on Monday 12th.

When the van didn't arrive we phoned there customer services and where informed they allow 15 minutes either way to allow for traffic, but to call back at 8:45 AM if it hadn't arrived.

We phoned back again at 8:45 AM and was informed by there representative that he would find out from the driver what was happening and when to expect it.
Having waited another 120 mins, we then phoned again and was informed by there representative we needed to provide a copy of a utility bill from home, or confirmation of our stay at the holiday Inn, which after having to have copy sent to my wife's phone; as the original copy had been sent to her work email address we did.

Following on from this we called several times to find out when we could expect the van but each time we where told that they would call us back, which they never did, until eventually we where informed that unless we could provide a utility bill we couldn't have the van.

Although there customer services where quick to apologize they offered no solution or help in what had turned into a nightmare situation for my wife and myself, and our family, having been left high and dry by them.

I questioned why having had an initial van delivered to us, and eventually collected from the hotel ( the delay being the fault on there side not ours), and having provided a copy of my driving license at the time of booking, and having taken the money from my wife's bank account registered to our home address to cover the hire costs in advance, and having provided evidence of our stay at the Premier Inn on request, I failed to see why we where refused a hire van, having already had one on the same booking to the same place with the same company NationwideHireUK.co.uk

And yes we did read there terms and conditions, but had we been informed at time of booking we would be required to carry around copies of a utility bill, as if these are actual proof of residence we would have done so, instead we where left with just our small car and two four month old babies belonging to my son in law and his wife, as well as our belongings we where transporting, in Liverpool in a Premier Inn car park, having had to check out due to the time it took to be let down by NationwideHireUK.co.uk, some 400 miles from our home with no recourse to be able to find another company to hire a one way journey from in the time remaining in the day.

Thankfully we where able to arrange for a friend to travel all the way from Colchester to Liverpool to assist us at the last minute, was our only way home.

As it was the car had to be packed to the hilt with items that would not fit in the van, along with two four month old babies, just goes to show what a shambolic company NationwideHireUK.co.uk run.

So please listen and take my and others advice and do not rent from NationwideHireUK.co.uk, they are only a broker who add to the expense and offer NO help when things go wrong, they will lie to you, not return your calls, and leave you to deal with the mess of there making. Your are taking a very serious risk in using this company either for business or personal hire, and we have made other business associates aware of this as best we can, and will certainly advice friends likewise.

Not worth the 1 star i have given

Absolute rip off! DO NOT HIRE FROM THIS COMPANY! Led us to believe a van would be delivered at 15:00, no van arrived although they took the payment straight away.
Didn't care we were moving house and it took forever to get a refund which they tried to take back a couple of days later. These are the biggest cowboys in the business...

Please please please don't put yourself through what we've gone through...

Cowboys: Update
May 21, 2018
Updated review

Update to my review on the 28th April 2018.

Nationwide have since not acknowledged our formal complaint and unbelievably have taken a further unsolicited payment of £275 from our card. Frankly this is now theft and therefore this company have now gone from exceptionally unprofessional to compete rogue criminals. Court action to follow.

Please God don't use this company you will regret it.

Cowboys. If you want a company to let you down big time, break your heart and not care one bit then go for Nationwide Hire UK.

Two Luton vans booked 6 weeks in advance for moving my family from London to liverpool. They took the money no problem and vans were due to be delivered on Friday morning. 2pm on Thursday two transit vans arrive from Hertz, one large one small. Not what we ordered, delivered a day early, no notice, and not big enough to move our furniture.

No notice was given by nationwide (they say they confirm your vehicles 24hrs before) - upon calling they frankly could not care one bit. We were left with one van and had to dump all of our furniture. The staff we beyond apathetic to the point where they seemed to enjoy the hurtful situation they created. When you call them you get a different operator each time, these guys are robots they dont care about you.

Promised another van by 10am Friday. Did it turn up, you guessed it - no. Did they notify us or take any responsibility - no.

Nationwide are a broker, they do not have their own vehicles, they contract out to the likes of hertz. Booking in advance will guarantee you nothing and you will receive no notification if what youve ordered is not available. They will not deliver your vehicles on time even if you get them and should you need to call them up then you would get a better response if you asked your own dog for help.

Horrendous company, they will steal your money, not deliver on promises and should you lose out because of it they will laugh back at you.

They will take your money on the day of booking and from them on will wash their hands if you and you will have to fight tooth and nail to get it back.

Save youself the pain and just book direct with an actual hire company. It wont be long until you see these guys on watchdog or in administration.

One Big Con
May 13, 2018

Do not use this site. If you need to hire any vehicle then book direct with the appropriate company. I booked with these who passed my booking to a local company who delivered a totally different vehicle, which was not only rotten dirty, but had two broken seatbelts so I had two less passengers. The bodywork was badly dented scrapped and had missing side trim. The inside was so dirty and stunk of sick I had to hoover it out, spray loads of air freshener in it, and also use a hanging car air freshener. To add to this the vehicle was delivered with Zero petrol and just about made it to the nearest garage to fill up. I complained to the company who delivered it and asked for a replacement but was told there wasnt one. I also complained to Nationwide who have totally ignored me. WILL NOT USE THEM AGAIN EVER AND RECOMMEND NO ONE ELSE DOES.

Nationwide van hire took my booking on Wed for a 3 day hire they took the money out of our account immediately. They promised delivery on Friday morning at 10 am. No van arrived. We phoned to find out what was happening only to find they could not supply the van, when asked why they hadnt notified us immediately or refunded our money no explanation was forthcoming, I asked to speak to a supervisor and was told no one was availableshe just kept repeating the mantra that we had to complain by e mail. We said we would wait for a supervisor to talk to us and were promptly cut off.
Rang again still no joy they said our money was being refunded which would take 3 working days. Now Im left with a driver and helper to pay and no van and no money in the bank to hire another one. Absolutely disgusting service and stinking attitudes from the service representatives. Take my advice and give them a very very wide berth

Very unprofessional, proper scammer. Bad service
April 30, 2018

Please please please DO NOT HIRE ANYTHING FROM THIS COMPANY! They don't have any cars anyway. We hired a 9 seater van from this people, during the transaction it was very clear that the van hire cost £914.00 plus deposit of £500. They are very quick in taking our payment from my account amounting to £1607. 80 so obviuosly we did our math means they took more than what they should take. We rang them back and the lady who answered said she will discuss it with her manager and so an hour later we received an email saying adjustment done, so we assumed that the refund of that adjustments will be in included when they return the deposit. The day before the delivery day of the hired van, a van was parked not far from our house and an envelop from imperial van hire in our letter box with the van key and paper works ( insurance, van check, rental paper works). The van check we were unable to verify since we were not there when it was checked. It wasn't very clean. So we travelled with this van with the understanding that we are fully covered in case something happened since my husband paid an extra £150 for road side assistance, unfortunate us that road side assistance we paid wasn't included in the insurance. Anyway after 17 days we returned the van and they promised that the deposit will be in my account within a week but until now NO REFUND RECIEVED. We followed up with nationwide and they keep telling us that they will email there costumer service about it and let us know. 3 weeks had passed still NO REFUND OF DEPOSIT. So I contacted nationwide again a man voice said he is going to ask there costumer service but I insisted to speak to them myself and so he said he will transfer me to them and put the phone down on me. I rang them back and a woman voice answered which I recognized and without me telling her about my transaction reference it seems that she already know who I am and was talking about the deposit and the amount we paid them. She was very sharp and said that they don't owe us any deposit because they didn't asked for any deposit at all, she also said that it was the imperial vehicle who got our deposit. Seems strange since few weeks ago after the van was collected they told us that our deposit will be in my account within a week and it is really over overly overdue, And that woman just put the phone down on me. They don' t care at all. Very very unprofessional people. Liars and thief.

Hopeless company. We wanted to hire a van, had to make several changes to the booking which was a hassle for them, fair enough. But when they couldn't supply me with an updated invoice and I pushed for it, they tried to charge me an admin fee, which they'd never mentioned before, for the changes. Emails were consistently unclear, contradictory, failed to address half my questions. When I cancelled, they said they might charge me the admin fee for each change to the booking! So they want to charge me more for not providing a service than if they had provided it. What a joke. I've registered with multiple review websites just to criticise this bunch, they are that bad. I only wish I'd read all these appalling reviews before I ever approached them.

Communication breakdown
April 23, 2018

Do not use this company. I booked a luton van with them for a personal hire, and paid extra to reduce the damage excess down from £1000 to £500, and also to have a satnav included with the van. I had the van delivered to a local self storage company since I live on a fairly narrow street and it would be my final destination anyway - perfect for collection.

I should have read around more, but I didn't realise that this company sub-contracts, using local van hire companies to do deliver and collect the vans. That's fine if they are given the correct information, which unfortunately did not happen in my case. Firstly the van went to the wrong self storage unit so when it did finally get to me it was 30 minutes late. The real issue though was that the contract I had to sign was for a commercial hire with a whopping £2500 damage excess, because somewhere along the line there had been a mix up and they had thought that I was a driver working for the self storage company. Oh and guess what, no sat nav! Obviously I could not sign this contract and so couldn't take the van, so I missed my deadline and I am now in the process of trying to get a full refund.

Seriously, save yourself some bother and go direct to a local company, because the nationwide hire middleman can't be trusted.

SORRY FOR THE SHOUTY CAPS BUT I NEED TO SHOUT! STAY AWAY FROM THESE COWBOYS
We booked a transit to help with a site crisis. Our telephone conversation ended with them saying "That's all sorted. We'll be there at 3" We rang at 2.50 to check all was OK only to be told it wasn't. They said they'd call me back - didn'; t and refused to answer the phone for the rest of the day. They were good enough to refund us in full but what a disgraceful way totreat customers. I'd leave ero ratings if I could.

We rented a long wheel base transit to be delivered at 8:30 am to Barnet because we were on a tight schedule to load up and then meet an Ikea delivery at the new flat in Kent.
A nice man phoned the day before and told us he would probably be early if this was OK and we were delighted.
The next morning we were up and ready at 08:00 to receive the van and load it very quickly. So we waited, and waited. At 08:30 we phoned to ask where the van was but no answer from Nationwide. We kept phoning but still no answer and no van.
By 9:15 we were panicking and decided to load as much in to my car as we could fit and that if the van was not there by 9:30 (which would be an hour late) we would have the leave the furniture and drive as fast as we could to meet the Ikea delivery.
Nationwide eventually answered the phone at 09:00 and hadn't got a clue about where the driver was but they would find out and let us know. They didn't!
Just as we were driving off shortly after 09:30, the van turned up but we did not accept it as we no longer had the time to load it. The driver didn't bat an eye about the fact he was an hour late.
It turns out that Nationwide Van Hire sub contracted to a company in Chingford to provide the van to us.
Finally after many phone calls, Nationwide Van Hire refuses to accept responsibility and refuses to refund the money they took for the rental even though we could not use it because of the late delivery.
This is a shocking company to deal with, it sounds like there are only two people in the company and they sub contract to other small companies for their rental vans. Steer clear. DO NOT USE!

Jeff cancelled vehicle 15 minutes after it was due for delivery! Included a note to say "no funds have been charged to your credit card," but full payment was taken! Only refunded a week later. We were able to source another vehicle for almost 40% less. We will NEVER deal with this company again.
