The company has garnered a mixed reputation, with some customers praising the efficiency and support of specific staff members during the leasing process, highlighting a seamless experience and quick move-in times. However, significant concerns have emerged regarding service delays, inadequate maintenance, and poor communication. Many customers reported unresolved issues, including mold and plumbing problems, alongside frustrations over application fees and lack of responsiveness from management. Overall, while there are positive experiences, the recurring complaints suggest a need for improved customer service and property management practices to enhance tenant satisfaction and retention.

April 20th 2021 my family and I moved into a property located in St. Petersburg FL.
The very same day we moved we notices thing right away that weren't right. The property had not been cleaned at all. The door locks were improperly installed. The plumbing in laundry room backed up and flooded the place and when cleaning up the water we quickly realized the water was disappearing quicker then we could mop it up. The water was running outside through the wall into the drive. The stove was unusable, when turned on it smelled of a strong sent of urine. 5am in the morning on 4/21 We heard what we thought were mice in the attic. Turns out the home is infested with wood rats. We contacted main street Renewal everyday for the last 2 weeks to get some help and they have ignored us. We finally decided to get an exterminator whom told us we needed MSR permission to work on the property they called MSR and they told them no they couldn't come out and take care of the problems. My husband has argued with these people every day and they still refuse to send someone to take care of these huge $#*! RATS. WE ARE MOVING OUT TOMORROW AFTER BEING HERE FOR 2 WEEKS. WE FILED QITH THE COURTS IN OUR COUNTY TO GET OUT OF THE LEASE.
If you are a property manager looking for a Property management organization... PLEASE DO NOT UTILIZE THIS ONE if you generally care about your tenants.
Their poor customer service precedes the 2020 pandemic. Unfortunately BBB ratings are not affected by customer reviews. However, you can also file a complaint with HUD if need be. Poor customer service, Humiliating maintenance responses, and overall disrespect for their tenants time and Money.
Research their Lawsuit cases in your state before doing business with this organization.
We had a leak under our house and they said if we paid the bill for it, they would take it out of our rent. But they ended up not keeping their word and said we paid it because we wanted too. And we still had to pay our rent and a high $#*! water bill for something that were their fault. And yea not to m3en they sent a shade tree mechanic to fix it and he made the problem worse.
So back in march i put in a app for a home and paid 120 app fee only to get a email the next day after they took my money saying i couldnt apply to this property because we are on section 8 and the house isnt ready yet... ok. Was then told they refunded my money after arguing with the voucher program person for this company, who by the way is VERY unprofessional. A couple days later spoke to someone else who stated they would keep our app and our fee to put toward another house(LIES), every house we found was not ready. But thats not all... spoke to several differnt people because thats what they do... who informed us the refund was mailed out as recently as yesterday... and STILL have not received a refund... This company lies, steals and misleads potential renters... Nevermind the fact that 90% of they reviews are horrible. I didnt look at reviews until last week and now im convinced mainstreet renewal is a scam company. You can not reach corporate and nobody at this company is capable of being honest... Please do not give them your money. They will take it and give u the run around. $120 isn't much to some but to me it is and i will be contacting a lawyer for theft and false advertisement. I have all my email corespondence and will just see them in court.
These people took our money and waited the 5 business days to tell us the house that we chose was rented to someone else. It is Friday and the house still shows up as available for rent, so this means people are still able to view and apply for this house over the weekend as we did and then after paying the application fee for a house that is already rented, you will be told it is no longer available. Just wonder how many applications they are collecting money on each weekend. Our world has just gone to hell in a hand bucket. Scams even happen from these big companies. I have been on hold with the corporate office in Austin Tx for almost an hour. Unbelievable.
The leasing department is absolute trash told me my app was approved and they would reach out with the next step just for no response, and only finding out after reaching out 12 days in a row pray you dont get Stacy or clarissa king from leasing
It was the worst experience ever in my life I waited for a month for them to tell me that my ID and my section 8 voucher needed to match and I told them that my voucher was about to expire they didn't care plus I've been living in a hotel for the pass 3 weeks with my 5 kids and sadly they didn't even care and worst part of everything is I'm a transfer voucher I port out of Massachusetts and they knew all this
This company is making alot of money scamming people to pay application fees on an empty house. They charge 40 dollars for each person so if a couple is trying to rent the house it's $80. If you times that by 20 applicants it comes to $1600. They make more money leaving the house empty and notice that they have ALOT of empty houses. You get an inquiry on your credit report from them looking at your credit score but they never get back to you about an approval or denial and it's almost impossible to get them on the phone to check the status. You have to wait an hour on the phone or more to talk to someone. I am going to continue to write reviews and report them to the Better Buisness Company until they are completely shut down. Scammers!
Worst rental company I've ever dealt with. With the mold in the ceiling and window seal, termite infestation, ant infestation, the pipes busting and flooding my whole house and damaging all my appliances and being without water for 6 days when they said 2 hours. When they renovated the put all the glass and carpet in the yard and now my dogs and grandkids are cutting their paws and feet and no one wants to help me. They come in and paint over the mold and glue pipes together. I've been waiting for2 weeks now to get rid of termites and to fix a hole in the ceiling from a pipe busting and the water running under my hard wood floors coming over the top. This company sucks but want my 1300 every month!
Please listen:
THIS COMPANY IS AWESOME!
I recently found Main Street Renewal online as I began my house hunting journey. I use the app "rently" to see several homes that they offered in Georgia. I am also a recipient of hcv so I could only move to certain areas and so forth. I started my application with MSR and it went from there. At first there was a miscommunication about the application because of my credit but when I say this company went ABOVE and beyond to help me. THEY DID! Due to the pandemic alot of companies are short staffed but this company still managed to renovate homes, post them and get ppl moved in. The staff emailed me promptly and assisted me in every way possible. I wish that I could pay them back for all that they have done for family and myself.
Bad business Just take your money and do not give you the house at all scam you all alongThey tell you you got the house and you don't something need to be done they took 160.00 for applications fee and canceled my application
I had a home invasion twice with my kids and I in it held a gun point and Main Street Renewal would not let us move out we had to stay inside of the lease was over even though we had a police report worse is the company ever.
This is flat out the worst company ive ever experienced in my life. Access to properties is impossible, customer service is non existent. Awful experience. Avoid!
I applied for a home that was showing available through their website. $80 and 4 days later, I have received no phone call, no emails, not able to get ahold of anyone. The automated phone just puts you on hold. I went back on the website and now the house is marked unavailable. I went this past sunday to do a self showing and there was a couple there with a leasing agent. Mind you this is 4 days after I had already paid the money for the application. When you pay the application fee, it states that they are now holding the property for you while they review the application. This is a total lie. They are leaving these properties up, showing that they are available, taking people's application fees, all the while renting it out to whoever applied first. Absolute scam artists. They are making hundreds if not thousands of dollars just in application fees on each property with no intention of honoring their own policy. Do not even apply for a rental. Somebody already has it, they just don't want you to know that.
I am relocating from Tampa, FL to San Antonio, TX. I was shown a home by a local realtor and submitted my application immediately on Feb. 8th. Asking for the move in date to me March 3rd. It took a week to get an approval. Once I got the approval on Feb 16th I made the deposit within 24 hours. I am HUD VASH so they had to work with the VA. Ken Grey was horrible to work with. He made it known that he doesn't like working with Section 8. He was slow to return any paperwork that was requested by the VA. I had to actually call and hold him hostage over the phone to make sure he submit everything that was requested. When he did all the information was incorrect. He refused to answer anymore emails or phone calls. I paid on Feb. 17 and over a month later I still hadn't moved in. On the 19th of March I finally had an inspection. When the MSR Inspector showed up he turned on the dishwasher and the pipes busted in the kitchen. The water ran so fast in the kitchen and in the backyard. I was not happy because I had asked for someone to turn the water at a trickle during the massive snowstorm. I was told that they will send someone out. They never did. It took a month to get an inspection. That meant it would take at least another two months for them to fix and inspect it again. I immediately asked for a full refund. I do not recommend anyone to rent from them. The house I was trying to rent was 6507 Ridge Circle Drive, San Antonio, TX *******
We moved across the country and rented a property that looked great in pictures and the size was right. When we arrived we discovered the sqft was actually less than half of the advertised size. I made several attempts to get a resolution on this issue, and after 4 months, I resorted to calling them out on social media. That got a response. They offered to lower my rent, but we were still stuck in a house too small for our needs. When the lease was up they wanted to raise our rent, or charge us double for a month to month. We said hell no and rented a new home. After we moved out they listed the house for the original sqft. In an effort to help the next guy I notified them, and 4 days later they have not updated the listing. They are also VERY slow to respond to maintenance issues, especially emergency issues. I will never do business with MainStreet Renewal again. So far American Homes for Rent has been a much better experience.
On March 9th, I called Mainstreet Renewal (Geogia) my oven at the bottom there will be a fire and the fire will rise to the middle part of the oven. March 17th a technician left a "Sorry We Missed You" sign on my door. My family and I were in the house the whole time because my children are home schooled the time of his arrival was 9:55 am. The technician did not call me. So when I saw the message I called at 10:23am to tell them, I was home the whole time and even my dog did not bark no one heard him. I explained to the customer service agent the GAS stove will will have a huge blaze in the bottom and middle part of the oven. I am scared to use the top part of the oven thinking the oven will blow up! The agent said he would put the work order as "urgent" and was calling scheduling. I look on my work order history and saw they put in the system my work order was completed, if I was not home how can it be completed? No one has called or set an appointment, they have not requested for the gas company to come by and see if there is any gas leaks. NOTHING! I pay rent on time every month and I have not been here a year yet! This is ridiculous...
This company allows tenants to shoot pistols and large rifles, from the driveway and back deck in a subdivision. Many reports to the company with police records on file. House was listed as quiet area on the company site. Well, not anymore! Cars running up and down the road multiple times from this house, along with gun shots that make you duck for cover. No wonder they aren't part of the BBB. If you see this or a new home for you signs... gather your neighbors and be aware. Main Street Renewal does NOTHING for the safety of neighbors they move their tenants into.
Absolutely the WORST company on planet Earth.
These "people" do not care one iota about you as a tenant.
Brand new house, first people in it, and raw sewage backs up all over the first floor. I mean actual poop, pee, toilet paper floating in the living room. Called for help, they said it would be 3 days before someone could get there. Really. A bio-hazard. Three days. Why don't THEY live in raw sewage for 3 days and see if that's acceptable.
Well, now it's 2 years later and I am not renewing my lease and all of a sudden, everything I have been doing routinely for 2 years is an "HOA violation". The HOA charges nothing, but MSR hits you with a $25 fee each time for posting the notice to my online account. Where I park, where my trash can sits, height of my lawn, my flower beds, etc, everything 100% exactly the same for 3 years but now is a violation!
And you have 10 days from the date of the violation to meet the HOA board to appeal the notice but MSR holds onto it until the 10 days have past so you CAN'T appeal and THEY get to keep the $25!
These crooks are rotten to the core and if you rent with this company you are a FOOL! Just like I am!
I rent a house from Main street renewal. When I move in the house had roaches in all the kitchen drawers.the dishwasher had water in it. Carpet was dirty. When I move out the house was cleaner then they give it to me. I won in court. Because they trying to keep my deposits i. Filled in 2017 went to court in 2019 still waiting on my money
Answer: Don't bother... waste of money for an overpriced house. Their customer service is terrible. They give you the run around and the techs they send out are not certified. Look like people the just find off the street and hire for a repair to do. My husband and I are currently looking for an attorney to get out of this lease. We've only been renting from them for 4 months and have had SOOO many problems with this house. Look else where.
Answer: Indeed! Integrity n honor is of no value with MSR! Hopefully they will re-evaluate their company and greed will not control them! No one has a clue of each other in the business system they run!
